Send us a textHave you ever felt your spark dimming at work? That creeping realization that your workplace might be harming your mental health? Terence Nislow's powerful story might be exactly what you need to hear.In this episode Terence shares with host Arthi that when he realized his prestigious job with amazing benefits was slowly changing who he was as a person, he faced a difficult truth many of us encounter but few discuss openly. Despite the 36 days of annual leave and impressive salary, he found himself unrecognizable – quieter, angrier, and losing his natural enthusiasm for life. The wake-up call came when a friend asked if someone had died because his personality had changed so dramatically. What makes Terence's story particularly valuable is his methodical approach to escaping toxicity. Drawing on his Lean Six Sigma background, he created what he called the "Get Terry Back" project – complete with Gantt charts, milestones, and actionable steps that transformed an overwhelming situation into manageable progress. This strategic exit plan helped him overcome the golden handcuffs of excellent benefits and find his way to true workplace happiness.Beyond sharing his personal journey, Terence offers practical wisdom for anyone feeling stuck in a similar situation. His advice spans from seeking trusted support and journaling to exploring options and creating structured exit strategies. Most importantly, he reminds us that "no job is worth your mental health" and "walking away from something toxic isn't a sign of failure – it's a sign of strength."Terence and his wife now help others navigate similar challenges through their business, Your Project Mentor, offering practical tools and emotional support to those feeling trapped in toxic work environments. Their mission reflects a powerful truth: you deserve better, and with the right approach, positive change is absolutely possible.Ready to reclaim your workplace happiness? Listen now, and discover how to create your own path forward when a job is draining your spirit.About Terence Niselow:Terence is a Henley MBA graduate, a seasoned operations and process improvement leader with deep expertise in Lean Six Sigma and has a passion for driving efficiency, quality, and business transformation.

As the number of choices available to banking customers in the UK has grown to include non-traditional platforms, the pool of institutions that regularly report SARs has expanded and diversified. Terms such as ‘challenger bank', ‘digital bank', ‘FinTech', ‘e-wallet', ‘e-money' and ‘cryptocurrency exchange' are now commonplace within the SARs regime and the terminology used to discuss these reporters can be crucial to understanding the different services that they offer. In this podcast, we chat with Mike Venn, the Group Head of Risk and Compliance with Modulr to try and get a better understanding of this area. 00:00 Introduction 01:23 Modulr introduction 03:21 Emerging, mobile-based firms 05:44 Clarification of services offered 07:11 Know Your Customer (KYC) 09:45 Identifying suspicious activity 12:05 Interaction with the UKFIU 14:03 Conclusion Resources mentioned in this podcast UKFIU pages on the NCA website: https://nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/what-we-do/crime-threats/money-laundering-and-illicit-finance/suspicious-activity-reports https://nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/what-we-do/crime-threats/money-laundering-and-illicit-finance/ukfiu SARs In Action magazine issue 18: https://nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/who-we-are/publications/625-sars-in-action-december-2022/file

Ricky Knox gives a behind the scenes look into what it took to launch a challenger bank during a time where people laughed at the idea of trying to disrupt the banking sector and the giant banks that dominated it. He gets honest on the difficulties of raising money and the challenges faced in getting past the gatekeepers in acquiring a banking license. As a serial entrepreneur and investor, Knox takes from his wealth of experience and knowledge to give a brutally honest perspective on what founders should and shouldn't be doing, from knowing when to sell to accepting defeat and letting go of a failing business. Life after Tandem bank, Knox talks investment and the two industries he has his eye on outside of fintech that are sure to bring about what he calls, the internet 2.0. Ricky Knox is a serial entrepreneur and investor. Ricky is Chairman of ForMore, an ethical wealth management platform. What do you think of having a “smarketing” department? It's one team, essentially, with two interior sets: marketing and inside sales. In this episode of The Marketer's Journey, I interview Edwin Abl, CMO at Modulr, about heading up the smarketing department. What we talked about: The entrepreneurial mindset inspires marketing leadership in so many ways Where should SDRs sit, marketing or sales? (Marketing, actually) Why you should put your laptop and phone in the cupboard after 7:30 PM Check out this resource we mentioned during the podcast: Edwin's site: www.edwinabl.com Check out this and other episodes of The Marketer's Journey at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or our website.
Key Takeaways: You should constantly ask yourself how you can do things differently. Don't become complacent and wait until something stops working before trying out a new idea. Being a manager isn't always as much fun as you likely think it is and not everyone is cut out to be a manager. If you're not best friends with your sales leader then you're not doing your job. You should be 100% aligned and holding each other accountable. That's the only way for both of your to be truly successful. Being CMO of Modulr, he is responsible for taking to market our unique API driven payments solution, building a team and scaling systemized processes. In his spare time provides mentorship on leadership, sales and marketing. During our conversation, we discuss: Why MQLs are irrelevant Why sales teams don’t find personas useful If someone should own the entire marketing and sales funnel If Chief Revenue Officers (CROs) will replace the CMO role How first-time CMOs should approach their first 100 days, present to a board, and build a world-class team The one book Edwin gives all new hires Enjoy P.S. The UK and the EU take a very different approach to payments industry evolution than here in the States; the former directed by government mandate, the latter by marketplace dynamics and the lighter touch of regulators. But both are responding, at different speeds, to the need of fintechs and enterprises for access to bank-based data and services. The Payment Services Directive 2, PSD2, written in 2015 and in effect since January of 2018, addresses a range of concerns including a ban on surcharging on card payments and limiting consumer fraud liability exposure from 150 to 50 euros. But its major impact is its enablement of Open Banking through the granting of access to payment rails and payment data managed, up until PSD2, only by banks. Banks are required to open up programmatic access, via APIs, to that data. In this Payments on Fire® episode, we dive into the UK and EU experience with the PSD2 a year after it going into effect. We take a look at its impact on Open Banking, the opening up of payment rails to these fintechs and other non-bank players. To do that, Myles Stephenson, CEO of B2B payments firm Modulr, discusses his firm’s experience as an Electronic Money Institution, an organization chartered by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under PSD2 rules. Under its provisions, Modulr gains, or will gain, the ability to initiate payments on behalf of its customers as well as access customer data. While incumbent financial institutions are hardly thrilled at the prospect of opening up their systems to fintech competitors and the cost of doing so, the operational improvements for customers and increase in competitive activity are expected to generate many benefits.

APIs and banking as a platform will revolutionize banking. This week we’ve got a special two part edition, with two guests who represent arguably the future of banking and financial services technology. Martin Häring is the Chief Marketing Officer of Misys (www.misys.com), a global core banking provider that recently opened its systems to third party development, in yet another sign that the industry is moving toward an API-connected, platform model. I think Misys is doing revolutionary work, and it’s good to see an established organization–a stalwart of global banking systems–taking the lead with such an innovative move. I think it’s reflective of the way fintech is going, the way banking is going, the way financial services is going, and the way technology is going more broadly. We’ve also got Myles Stephenson, CEO of Modulr (www.modulrfinance.com), a UK fintech building out a robust, plug-and-play payments platform to support corporates and fintechs looking to gain more efficient access to payment systems in the UK, above and beyond what’s offered by the banks. Myles has a really interesting take on where the industry is going in terms of systems architecture and platformification. I think the two guests, the two interviews, support each other nicely and really reinforce this broad based push toward wholly new systems architecture. As always, tweet at us @rebankpodcast and tweet at me directly @will_beeson to share your thoughts and continue the conversation.
Similar to the modulR setup we showed you last week, here’s Vogel’s new iPad mounting system. Using the system’s various add-ons, you can mount your iPad just about anywhere.
When I’m on set directing, I don’t want any unnecessary distractions… like losing my iPad. Which is exactly what happened a couple months ago. It turned up during a company move, but for those few hours it was missing, I was totally stressed. I joked about making a custom strap, so I could sling my iPad over my shoulder like a laptop bag, or around my neck like Flava Flav’s watch. Looks like someone beat me to it!
