This week we say hello to the little friend as A DePalmber to ReMalmber begins with 1983's Scarface, directed by Brian DePalma, written by Oliver Stone, and starring Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Robert Loggia, F. Murray Abraham, Harris Yulin, Mark Margolis, and Richard Belzer. It's an opulent operatic journey to the American Dream, a slick and stylish directorial effort that truly proves subtlety is for cowards. It's an unseen from J Mo's collection that's been gathering dust for north of 17 years, and though a bout with COVID prevented him from joining us for the entire episode, Elite Prospects and EP Rinkside editor-in-chief J.D. Burke calls in and leaves a voicemail in defense of a hot couch classic, and one of his all-time faves. Other works discussed in this episode include Fight Club, Joker, Terminator: Salvation, Top Gun: Maverick, No Hard Feelings, Thanksgiving, Grindhouse, Totally Killer, The Final Girls, Freaky, Happy Death Day, Hostel, the Scream franchise, Payback, Pokerface, Paul T. Goldman, Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, Independence Day, Over The Top, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Macbeth, GoodFellas, Casino, The Irishman, Jack & Jill, Heat, Dog Day Afternoon, and Hunters, among others. If you'd like to watch the film before listening to our discussion, Scarface is currently streaming in Canada on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Starz at the time of publication. We'll be back next week as A DePalmber to ReMalmber continues with Carlito's Way, a movie currently streaming on Amazon Prime in Canada. Until then, see you at the movies!
The Fun Boys jump right into it - WHAT should be Brad's karaoke song? WHO was the karaoke villain that Chuck and Brad had to face?? We also tackle: lawyer billboard, the relationship between Air Bud, Beethoven, and Cliffored the Big Red Dog. This devolves into our "Clifford 2023" movie idea - where the charisma of Clifford comes up against the unsettling logistics of a 50-feet dog and the upsetting results that would bring to a small town. Martin Short's Clifford, Problem Child, Paul T. Natasha BlasickTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know actress Natasha Blasick. Born and raised in Ukraine, Natasha felt drawn to learn English at an early age and found an escape in acting not long after. In this episode, we chat about growing up in Odessa, before following a boy across the world to The United States. We discuss her rapidly growing acting career, which includes several films and television shows either out now or coming out soon. (Karaganda, Moms Rising, Immortality) She shares a few stories from the set of Jaime Foxx's directorial debut: All-Star Weekend; including motivational words from both Jeremy Piven and Jamie Foxx himself. Finally, Natasha shares her recent experiences as the bass player for the band Snowflakes, with her husband Martin. She even lets me play one of their more popular songs called 'Ukraine Will Prevail'.This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4068452/advertisement
How do you write the score to someone else's self-mythology? That's the challenge this week's guest, composer Ronen Landa, faced for one of the year's most idiosyncratic, difficult-to-describe shows, Peacock's Paul T. Goldman. A strange mix of documentary comedy and wish fulfillment, the show follows the titular man, a nebbishy middle-aged guy who turned his hellish marriage to his second ex-wife into a grand quest for justice in the form of a bestselling self-published novel (and subsequent script adaptation). These, with the help of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm director Jason Woliner, take the form of compellingly straight-laced reenactments of Paul's life as he saw them, with the man playing himself, surrounded by professional actors at once bewildered and fascinated by his presence. It's a wild, weird mix of true-crime and true-crime satire, a needle that Landa was very careful to thread. In fact, he constructed his score much like a concept album, bringing in an intimate ensemble with strings and piano to record a lend Paul's own search for truth -- as blinkered as it may or may not be -- a sense of grand, personal tragedy. Then there's its ominous main title theme, with harsh, lurching low piano chords surrounded by mysterious strings and building brass. Together, Landa and I speak about building the score for Paul T. Goldman without seeing much of the finished product, folding the theme on top of that, and embracing the enigma of its strange, compelling central figure. And Ronen also talks us through two of the show's biggest cues, including its mysterious title theme. Plus, we end up chatting about his own upcoming musical dip into the world of Star Trek. You can find Ronen Landa at his official website. Paul T. Goldman is currently streaming on Peacock. You can also listen to the score on your preferred music streaming service courtesy of Lionsgate Entertainment.
https://terrijay.com/ Paul T. Goldman A PEACOCK SERIES/Jan 1st, 2023 As a publicist, I find myself in the unusual position of having the woman depicted in the new Peacock series, Terri Jay, being referred to me by another client and the iconic actress that is actually playing her in the series, Dee Wallace. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mMcugQTjHs While both appear in the series, with Ms. Jay in the interviews and Ms Wallace in the re-enactments as Terri Jay, we feel that this unique combination, would make for a very interesting combined interview. DEE WALLACE: Internationally known for her five series, Dee Wallace has starring in appeared in 7 television series, over 400 commercials, as well as holding the record for any living actress with over 280 films/TV movie credits, including CRITTERS, THE HOWLING, CUJO, THE FRIGHTENERS, 10, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, and the number one blockbuster, E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL (Celebrating its 40th in 2022). Dee is an Emmy nominated actress, as well as a best-selling author and a multi-nationally respected authority on the art of self-creation for over 30 years. A true tour de force in the industry, working with countless producers and directors and some of Hollywood biggest names, including Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Wes Craven, Joe Dante, Lewis Teague, Stephen King, Blake Edwards and Rob Zombie. Dee has appeared on every major news and talk show and has been featured on E! True Hollywood Stories, and Oprah. As Dee expressed herself, she felt a connection to portraying Ms. Jay that gave her goosebumps. TERRI JAY: An internationally acclaimed intuitive, medium and animal communicator. Terri will be appearing in a series on Peacock set for release January 1, 2023, while Emmy nominated and iconic actress, Dee Wallace, will be portraying Ms Jay in the re-enactments. Jay's input with the main character, Paul T. Goldman was instrumental in his decision-making and actions surrounding his sham marriage. Jay was able to determine that Paul's new bride was not who or what she purported to be, and she was just out to get whatever she could. The information that Jay shared motivated Paul to change himself from a wimp to a superhero. Dee continues to conduct her weekly call-in radio show with over 500 episodes, monthly webinars and private sessions worldwide form her home and via phone. Like E.T., she teaches us how to truly “get back home.” Dee has authored seven critically acclaimed books on the subject of self-creation: Conscious Creation, The Big E!, Bright Light, Getting Stuff and Wake Up Now! BORN and BuppaLaPaloo (children's book). Follow Dee on Social Media at Instagram: @thedeewallace / Twitter: @Dee_Wallace / Facebook: Dee Wallace Terri Jay has been doing readings by phone around the world for over 30 years. “I do everything except predictions and police work,” Jay shared. “Even though I have been doing this work for so long, I am always surprised and sometimes even shocked at the details and the information that comes through.” “I never get anything negative or scary and it has often been life-changing in an incredibly positive way,” Terri said. Terri takes the woo-woo out of this field by basing her work in physics. She says that all she does is pick up on energy, frequencies and vibrations that other people miss. In addition, there are 7-9 million people in the U.S. who cannot communicate due to illness, injury and disease, that she has been able to connect with and discusses in her book entitled, "Intuitive Communication."

Comedy director Jason Woliner has worked on some of our favorite comedies, from What We Do in the Shadows & Last Man on Earth to New Girl & the Borat sequel. He's back with the infinitely fascinating crime mystery Paul T Goldman, now streaming on Peacock.
Jason Woliner has directed episodes of Parks and Recreation, Nathan for You and The Last Man on Earth. In 2020, he directed his first ever major motion picture: Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. His latest project is really interesting: it's a documentary series, a project he's been working on for the last ten years. Paul T Goldman is a documentary series about a man who calls himself Paul T. Goldman. Goldman claims, among many other things, that his former wife stole money from him and ran a human trafficking ring. It's a wild, funny and at times touching show that is just as much a comment on true crime documentaries as it is a true crime documentary. We'll talk with Jason Woliner about Paul T. Goldman, and the meta nature of the show. Plus, we'll dive into Jason's time directing Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and the way things became very dangerous for him on set.

Then, Dom and Mayor Pete talk about an upcoming Barefoot Country Music Festival in June that will feature Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, Blake Sheldon, and some other huge country acts. Then, Dom offers his opinion on the news surrounding Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman who was admitted to a hospital for clinical depression, telling why he believes the Democratic Party pushed him too far after suffering a stroke during his campaign. Then, Dom takes aim at Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg over his non-response to the ecological disaster involving a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. In addition, Dom welcomes media critic Scott Cronick onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss what's worth watching on television and in theaters. First, Producer Dan thanks Cronick for the suggestion of Paul T. Goldman, a show streaming on Peacock that offers a fresh take on a true crime docu-series. Then, Scott, being a huge fan of documentaries, offers up his top 3 Oscar candidates for the category, speaking positively of Navalny, All That Breathes, and his personal favorite, Fire of Love. Also, Cronick offers his review on the mid-season revival of 1923, and tells why the show is a great watch even if you haven't watched its predecessor Yellowstone. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Terri Jay, Acclaimed Intuitive, Medium, Animal Communicator About Harvey's guest: Today's guest, Terri Jay, is an internationally acclaimed intuitive, medium, life coach, animal communicator, educator and author. For over 30 years, she's been giving readings and intuitive sessions, basing her work on physics, by tuning into the universe's energy, frequencies and vibrations, to develop, inform and utilize her spiritual senses. Her abilities are truly remarkable. She helps us connect with deceased loved ones, as well as with LIVING people who are unable to communicate due to an illness such as Alzheimer's or being in a coma. She helps people communicate with their beloved pets, both living and deceased. And she's a renowned horse whisperer. As a medical intuitive, she can scan a person's physical body, including the chakras or energy centers, and find the sources of stuck energy, which – as she says - can cause “issues in our tissues”, and is the source of illness, injury, and disease. She's written 3 bestselling books, entitled, “The Cowgirl Shaman Way: Seven Easy Steps to Develop Your Intuitive Ability”, “Intuitive Communication: Communicating With Those Who Cannot”, and “The Physics of Mediumship”. And now, she can be seen in the brand new documentary miniseries entitled, “Paul T. Goldman”, airing on the Peacock network. The series is based on Mr. Goldman's book, entitled “Duplicity: A True Story of Crime and Deceit”. It follows Mr. Goldman's efforts to uncover the truth about the woman he married, leading him into a labyrinth of fraud, deception, and criminality. Our guest's readings and interactions with Mr. Goldman were instrumental in his eventual realization that his new bride was not who or what she pretended to be, and that his marriage was nothing more than a sham. The information that our guest shared with Mr. Goldman motivated him to transform himself from a wimp to a warrior. https://terrijay.com/ Paul T. In addition, there are 7-9 million people in the U.S. who cannot communicate due to illness, injury and disease, that she has been able to connect with and discusses in her book entitled, "Intuitive Communication." Terri's original reading with Paul, as depicted in the series, happened years ago and from that first time, Terri encouraged Paul to keep track of all of it and write a book about it. Now, all these years later, it is an exciting series coming out on Peacock. We chat about pushing forward on your ideas, even when receiving constant rejection. In this episode, we talk about… How comedy has evolved to include real people in real life situations People thinking Paul's story is completely fake and that he is just an actor Allowing Paul to make decisions and follow his lead Finally selling the show after getting over a hundred rejections The role timing plays in getting projects made Marveling at the decisions Paul's mind made in writing the script Memorable Quotes “I feel like there's been this shift where real life is just crazier and funnier than anything that is just purely written.” [3:28] “The richness of life is so much weirder, funnier, more interesting than most written content.” [4:31] “Yes, it's unpolished and it sounds different, but it's a real person expressing their version of their life.” [15:34] “Most of my career has been spent trying and failing to get things made.” [23:22] Mentioned: Paul T. IT'S TIME TO WATCH THE MUPPETS! This week with special guest Anne Murray. Distracted rants include but are not limited to Look Who's Talking, Joni Mitchell, a failure to launch, Paul T. Goldman, A.I., and much more!"Scooter bothers everyone, particularly Kermit, with his skateboarding through the theater, whether riding out of control with it or causing damage to sketch sets by leaving it around for others to trip on. However the skateboard does have some advantages: Kermit gets certain guests out of the theater for free (when they want cab fare) and Scooter ultimately convinces the frog to have an all-skateboard finale to impress his uncle."Follow us:Twitter.com/ittwtmInstagram.com/ittwtm
Happy Quibuary everybody! During our shortest month, Ian and John will examine the shortest-lived mobile streaming platform Quibi and its shows whose episodes only lasted 10 minutes or less! For Part 1 of this series, the hosts will enter the battle arena for two competition shows: Gayme Show - a comedy where two straight folks compete for the title of “Queen of the Straights” - and Floored, a dance competition that challenges competitors with unsteady footing and obstacles. Ian implores John to rewatch the apparently quite forgettable movie The D-Train starring Jack Black and James Marsden. John enjoys the mind-boggling meta hilarity that is Paul T. Goldman - a Quibi survivor! Ian and John face off in a cage match full of clap push ups, Kirstin Dunst's snaggletooth, the ol' hip-hop dancing, and tinsel confetti streamers! We sit down with Jason Woliner (Borat, Nathan For You) to discuss his mind-bending new series "Paul T. Goldman".You don't have to have seen the show to appreciate this chat, but you will want to watch it after!! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Director Jason Woliner talks to Diane about the decade he spent thinking about PAUL T. GOLDMAN and figuring out the best way to tell the unusual story and how he worked with his unconventional leading "actor." All episodes now streaming on Peacock.
As a child actor, Jason Woliner knew he wanted to be a Director. He started with a mini DV camera and set out to make a feature for Sundance. He dropped out of college, convinced a few friends to join him, and ended up making a “long student film.” The 97-minute “terrible, horrorible” project taught him a great deal about filmmaking. Over the years, Jason has worked with Patton Oswalt, Aziz Ansari, and Jon Benjamin. He's Directed Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Nathan for You, and Last Man on Earth. Most recently, Jason has created the unusual mini series, Paul T. Goldman. The description reads, “One man's efforts to uncover the truth thrust him into a labyrinth of fraud, deception, and criminality that transform him ‘from wimp to warrior.'” Like Borat, it's a mixture of real and unreal, focused on one unusual character. In this interview, Jason talks about his love for specific comedies, why he generally avoids “for hire” work, how he found a unique niche in the comedy industry, working for “real laughs” during a pitch, and how to execute on unique ideas to find the “best, funniest version.” Subscribe for video interviews on YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/CreativePrinciples?sub_confirmation=1 If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcasts? It only takes about 60-seconds and it really helps convince some of the hard-to-get guests to sit down and have a chat (simply scroll to the bottom on your iTunes Podcast app and click “Write Review"). Enjoy the show!
In episode #106, our guest is Terri Jay, the Cowgirl Shaman. She is an author, speaker, clinician, and entertainer who helps people and their animals to heal their lives with the messages she receives. In this episode, we will be talking about her work as well as how the metaphysical world can be explained solely in terms of physics. What we observed:One of her early memories was of astral projection when she was a childDuring a horseback therapy program with disabled kids she “heard” a nonverbal child speak Everyone has psychic abilities, they are not giftsHer original goal was to do animal communicationHow she believes when people die, all of their negativity gets shed off and left behind in the earthly realm when people die, all of their negativity gets shed off and left behind in the earthly realmNegative energy or the residual energy that is left behind apparently causes hauntingsThe negative messages that come through during her readings come from spirit guidesWhat things mediums can misinterpretShe never gets messages from angelsWhy she calls her spirit guides ‘eye rollers”A theory of how we are connected to our guides, our higher self, and to the other sideWhen people are reactive to something they hear or see, they often get triggered because of a past life issueHow she” has coffee “every day with her mom- who passed 4 years ago.How she sees Jesus as a master healer, not “our lord and savior”Examples of evidential information from the deceased in her readingsTerri appears in the Peacock series "Paul T Goldman"For more info: https://terrijay.com/More episodes on www.closertovenus.com

¡Hola, amiguis! The year starts out weird as the DtW crew gets into some experimental TV in January! Dan and Raul are scratching their heads, trying to make heads or tails out of two tricky shows with different twists. First off, the duo dissects a couple of episodes of the new Netflix show Kaleidoscope. It's a couple of eps because the crime caper starring Gian Carlos Esposito purports to be watchable in any episode order, apparently. Then they dig into Paul T Goldman, a Peacock venture that is at once a biopic adaptation, behind-the-scenes investigation, and subversive deconstruction of a "regular guy" that is anything but. Do these shows with aspirations to break the mold remember to entertain along the way? These podcasters know! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

IRINA MALEEVA Star of stage, screen, television, cabaret and the world of music, Irina Maleeva is a true multifaceted international sensation. The daughter of a famed Bulgarian stage actress and an aristocratic Italian statesman, Maleeva first established herself as a child performer in her native Bulgaria -- and from there her career and talents would bring her to the glittering global stage. The world of Irina Maleeva jettisoned into the cinematic spotlight when she was discovered by the legendary Federico Fellini at age 15 and would go on to perform in three of his highlyacclaimed movies: Satyricon; Spirits of the Dead; and Roma. Later Maleeva was chosen for the lead part of Jessica in the film, “The Merchant of Venice” playing opposite Orson Welles's Schylock. The film was also directed by Orson Welles “This was the best time of my life”, remembers Irina. For many years part of the film was lost. When finally recovered, it premiered in Los Angeles at the Egyptian Theater in 2017. Adept in seven languages and with degrees in painting and set design from the historic Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, plus studies at Cinecitta Drama Film School and the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, one could say that Maleeva is truly a Renaissance artist in her own time. Says Maleeva, "It was inevitable that I was born to be an actress. There was nothing else for me but the theater and the movies. Painting and playing the piano wasn't enough for me. I needed to express myself with my voice and my body. What motivates me is the need to act." Included in her motion picture accomplishments: studying and working with iconic Italian directors Luchino Visconti and Roberto Rossellini and starring in more than 30 leading roles in European and American films opposite such luminaries as James Mason, Valentina Cortese and Terence Stamp, plus notable actors Susan Sarandon, Charles Grodin, David Duchovny, Anthony Franciosa and Klaus Kinski, to name a few. For her portrayal as a demented countess in the cult crime mystery film Union City, Maleeva appeared opposite rockers Debbie Harry and Pat Benatar and for her memorable role in this film she was awarded at the Toronto Film Festival. Later she would play the part of Mrs. Hasadan in the screwball comedy of errors Wasabi Tuna. MORE: getthefunkoutshow.kuci.org
Paul T. Goldman is an ordinary man thrust into extra-ordinary circumstances. For security purposes, he lives far away from Audrey Munson and her associates, where he spends his time raising his son, working on the screenplay to DUPLICITY, and developing a seminar on empowerment, so others won't have to go through what he did. He awaits a call from law enforcement so he can begin work on the sequel, DUPLICITY - THE TRIAL. How would you feel if you woke up one morning to learn that your wife, the woman you were in love with and had hoped to spend the rest of your life with, had completely duped you from your first date. How would you feel when you learned that this "nice Jewish girl" whom you thought you had married was anything but, and had left your honeymoon bed to take care of her illicit affairs, after you had drifted off to sleep. "DUPLICITY" is the TRUE story of just this scenario. I married Audrey Munson on September 18, 2005. Audrey pretended to be a sweet "stay at home mom" of three children. The children were real. Audrey was not. Audrey explained that she could only see me from Wednesday evenings to Saturday mornings. The rest of the week, Audrey said, she was caring for her 92 year old Alzheimer's-ridden grandmother in Cocoa Beach. The grandmother was real. Audrey's story was not. At the beginning, I thought I had a wonderful wife and happy marriage. I felt so lucky to be married to Audrey. However, it was all a lie. When I discovered Audrey's secret, illegal double life, I undertook a mission: First, to protect other innocent victims like myself from her. Second, to bring Audrey, and her associates, to justice. "DUPLICITY" is the true story of my journey "from wimp to warrior." - http://site.duplicityonline.com/Home.php
