My friend Aiden Kelly (he/him, trans man, age 23, future in theatre) and my friend Annalee Kelly (married mother of 4, RM, active LDS, from Idaho Falls) join us to share their story. Kencan Dengan Tuhan - Rabu, 9 April 2025Bacaan: "Berikanlah kami pada hari ini makanan kami yang secukupnya." (Matius 6:11) Renungan: Salah satu faktor yang menjadi penyebab ketidakbahagiaan seseorang adalah perasaan tidak puas atau tidak cukup. Setiap orang tentu menginginkan agar segala kebutuhannya tercukupi. Namun apakah dengan tercukupinya segala kebutuhan secara otomatis akan membuat seseorang merasa puas lantas menemukan kebahagiaan? Ketidakpuasan adalah salah satu sifat manusia, dan Tuhan tahu persis hal ini. Karenanya la mengajarkan kepada kita untuk berdoa demikian, "Berikanlah kami pada hari ini makanan kami yang secukupnya. " Ini tidak hanya mengingatkan kita pada kata cukup tetapi juga agar menggantungkan hidup sepenuhnya pada pemeliharaan Tuhan. Tuhan menginginkan agar kita hidup secukupnya, sewajarnya, tidak berlimpah-limpah menuruti ketamakan diri. Hal ini dimaksudkan bukan hanya agar kita mengucap syukur dengan apa yang ada, tetapi agar kita juga mengingat orang lain, berbagi berkat dengan sesama kita yang membutuhkan (2 Kor 8:15). Setiap harinya Tuhan pun ingin agar kita menggantungkan hidup hanya kepada-Nya. Dengan begitu kita tidak perlu menjadi khawatir atau berbangga diri. Memikirkan perkara dunia tidak akan ada habisnya. Dengan terus memikirkannya, kita justru dibentuk menjadi pribadi yang jauh dari rasa syukur, juga egois dan tamak. Pada akhirnya membuat kita lupa pada tujuan hidup kita yang sesungguhnya. Karenanya firman Tuhan mengingatkan kita untuk tidak memikirkan hal-hal yang lebih tinggi dari apa yang patut kita pikirkan. Tetapi kita diminta untuk berpikir begitu rupa, sehingga kita bisa menguasai diri (Rm 12:3). Tak seorang pun berkuasa atas hari esok, kecuali Dia (Ams 27:1). Tuhan sudah berjanji untuk tidak sekali-kali membiarkan atau meninggalkan kita, mengapa kita harus terus merasa tidak puas dan tidak nyaman dengan apa yang kita miliki hari ini? Jika hari esok masih ada, percayalah, Bapa telah menyediakan segala sesuatu yang terbaik, yang kita butuhkan. Tuhan Yesus memberkati. Doa:Tuhan Yesus, ampunilah aku yang kurang bersyukur ini. Terima kasih untuk firman-Mu. Bantulah aku agar hatiku selalu berlimpah dengan ucapan syukur. Amin. (Dod).

My friend Marley Orton (married mother of three, mid-50s, Utah County, real estate broker/hair stylist, RM) joins us to share her story of love and acceptance of her non-binary child CC. Marley starts with the pregnancy of this child knowing it was twins and having that confirmed via ultrasound. However, that changed with “Vanishing Twin Syndrome” where she ended up with one child. Marley talks about CC being sensitive, focused on those left out, sweet and a great sibling to their younger brother Zac. Marley talks about CC coming out as pansexual at age 16 and the body dysphoria they felt and feeling ostracized—especially at church. Marley talks about—with the help of a great therapist—CC understanding the identity that resonated with them: non-binary—and how CC's mental health and hope for the future improved with the process of transitioning. Marley talks about discovering “Chimera Twin Syndrome” and how this could bring a more scientific understanding to CC being non-binary. Marley talks about being the mother of three wonderful children—all whom have stepped away from the church—and what they are doing in their family to stay close together and love each other. Marley talks about how we can improve church culture—including being open to new perspectives so that more feel loved, welcomed, and needed. I learned so much from Marley. Anytime you produce something public, you open yourself up to criticism—and Risen Motherhood was no different. Over the years, we received feedback of all kinds: encouraging, loving, constructively critical, and at times, hurtful. On Thursday, 23rd January, I was invited to Bett UK to interview some incredible companies leading the way in education technology. I had the chance to sit down with Jamf, a company helping schools and businesses manage Apple devices, RM, a UK-based provider of tech solutions supporting IT infrastructure in schools, and Kahoot!, the interactive quiz platform that's transforming how students engage with learning. It was such a privilege to speak with these innovators about how they're reshaping education.I also connected with two other amazing exhibitors: I Can Compose, a platform empowering students to explore music composition, and Eduflix, which offers high-quality educational videos and resources for both teachers and students. We know these moments come rarely: when a season of life has such a clean end that you get the opportunity to stop and reflect on all that God has done. As we had a chance to serve in this capacity over the years, we were also deeply changed. Even though we haven't shared all the details publicly, trying to faithfully deliver quality content, lead a team, and navigate the online world with grace shaped us tremendously.
