Audio reading:  Num 26:33-65, 2 Chron 4:1-6:11, Rm 7:1-13, Psalm 17:1-15, Prov 19:22-23 This episode asks which marriage covenant you stand in—the Mount Sinai covenant brokered by Moses (the Law) or the New Covenant brokered by Jesus at the cross. Using Romans 7 and biblical readings, the host explains how believers are betrothed to Christ and how returning to legalism effectively makes Moses your head. Hear a call to remain in the New Covenant, walk by the Spirit, and avoid drifting back into works-based religion.

PHP Podcast – July 16, 2026 Hosts: Joe Ferguson, Sara Golemon, and Holly Schilling Joe hosts with Sarah and Holly while running on no sleep. The PHP Tech 2027 CFP opens, a fake PHP 9 pitch appears, we crown Holly the accidental main character of internals, and everyone agrees dark mode flashing white is a war crime. PHP Tech 2027 CFP Is Open (And Yes, the Year Is Right This Time) The big news kicking off the show is that the PHP Tech CFP for 2027 is live and open. You can find it over at Sessionize under php-tech-2027, and unlike a certain demo from the previous week, the date on it is actually correct. There was a brief moment where it displayed 2007, but the team fixed that rather quickly, so credit where credit is due. The crew marveled at the fact that we are somehow less than six months out from 2027, which spiraled into a conversation about kids getting learner’s permits, full beards showing up on children who were toddlers just yesterday, and whether anyone’s offspring might actually submit a talk. Helldivers came up. Freedom was spread. And there was a gentle suggestion that SoCalKid and their newly engaged fiancé should be sent the CFP URL immediately. Meanwhile, PHP Tech 2026 videos are rolling out on PHP Tech TV. There are currently 37 available with more still processing thanks to some technical and room issues at the event. Several talks are completely free, including Joe’s talk on modernizing DevOps, Kaylin’s “Modernize Your Old School Endpoints with HTMX,” and both of Ben Ramsey’s talks. Working Groups, Discord, and the People Who Actually Care The conversation turned to the internals process and Ben Ramsey’s working group proposal on the internals mailing list, which the crew encouraged everyone to actually read. The idea of giving working groups some autonomy and even decision-making power drew broad agreement as a way to produce more fully-fleshed RFCs rather than one person’s implementation of a giant feature. A recurring point of confusion is the reference to “Discord conversations” in RFCs. There is no official PHP.net Discord, but phpc.chat will get you to the Discord (and previously the bridged IRC). The PHP Internals channel is where a lot of discussion happens, though far from the only place, and there are also the PHP Foundation and new Foundation Ambassadors channels. Big appreciation went out to the moderators keeping that Discord spam-free and troll-free, with a special shout to Tiffany, who is an absolute machine at helping people, pointing them in the right direction, and posting top-tier cat pictures in the pet flexing channel. The recurring theme: decisions are made by the people who show up. Silence is acquiescence, and if you have issues, speak up. Holly famously just showed up in internals one day, started talking, and they let her stay. This Week in Internals and the Co-Scientist Show Joe wanted to highlight Artisan Build’s YouTube channel, specifically their “This Week in Internals” videos. They are fantastic recaps of what’s happening in the internals world, complete with a very light sprinkling of extremely dry comedic timing that lands perfectly. The videos break down email threads and RFCs into easily digestible summaries of what people are arguing over, then poke a little fun at the sillier arguments. A weekly recap drops regularly and it’s consistently great content for anyone curious about internals. The crew was also impressed by the host’s ability to nail every name pronunciation on what seems like the first try, which spiraled into Holly’s confession that she has a hard memory limit on names learned after kindergarten. Anyone new is simply “out of bounds.” Holly’s Fake PHP 9 Pitch: Structs, Modules, and Surfaces Holly walked through a blog post on eventuallywrong.com featuring a fake PHP 9 pitch full of flagship features she’s prototyped. It kicked off with extensions, which she discovered didn’t exist while trying to build the Longhorn app in native PHP, landing her at the top of that internals video. Next came structs, which started as an attempt to build tuples (turns out full structs were easier). They’re Swift-style value types with strong typing, and after some grumbling at Larry, she reworked things to support interfaces and traits, leaning into composition over inheritance. Modules got the PHP-style treatment: a simple module definition, a public interface declaration, and a new `internal` visibility level that lets members be accessed within the same module. No autoloader modifications required, and reflection remains the escape hatch as always. Finally, surfaces — a keyword that adds a perpendicular-to-visibility scope. A method can belong to a surface, and callers simply declare they want to use that surface of the class. Holly performance-tested it: no impact if unused, minimal impact if used. She also spent a good chunk of the show against friend classes, arguing they’re leaky, unrestricted, and if you’re going to hand out full access to your privates, you shouldn’t have marked them private in the first place. Release Management, Version Stats, and Upgrade Paths Holly is a first-time PHP 8.6 release manager alongside Matteo Beccati, with veteran Daniel Scherzer (also on 8.5) rounding out the team. She stepped down from RM in a prior election because others wanted the work — a reminder that people stepping up in open source is a rarity worth celebrating. Release management, she noted, is less a social job and more about moving data at the right time and signing things. The July 2026 PHP version stats got a thumbs up. Looking at the trends, 8.5 is clearly on the rise, 8.4 climbing slightly, 8.3 starting to trend down, and 8.2 falling harder — exactly the curve you want, with the vast majority sitting inside the support window. Joe shared that upgrading apps from PHP 7 to 8.3/8.4/8.5 has been a much easier lift than the older 7.x hops, thanks to a more consistent release cadence and better deprecation guidance. Holly pushed back on the idea that 5.6-to-7 was ever hard, while Joe pointed out the real pain came from jumping ancient 5.0/5.1 codebases straight to 7 back before Claude existed. There was also a very in-depth debugging tangent about an opcache build flag no longer being needed on 8.5. Accessibility, Dark Mode Crimes, and the JetBrains Survey The JetBrains State of PHP survey is open, and everyone should go take it — there’s even a chance to win one of five vouchers. This led to a discussion about whether JetBrains usage is being decimated by AI tooling, with Holly living almost entirely in the terminal with Claude Code these days while Joe remains loyal to PHPStorm and PyCharm. Sarah, who is going blind and is not joking about it, kicked off a passionate segment on accessibility. Test your apps with a screen reader. Respect font scaling and contrast (F0F0F0 text on white is a genuine crime). Respect the OS toggles for reduced motion, because autistic users and others depend on them and apps routinely ignore them. The crew then united around dark mode etiquette: the only reasonable default is system-selected, and the white flash between two dark-mode pages is caused by JavaScript-based theme switching instead of sane CSS selectors. It is, universally agreed, the worst. The episode closed on eye-tracking privacy (Apple Vision Pro good, Oculus terrifying), heat maps, and a laptop-camera-covering tangent that got appropriately unhinged before Joe called it on that bombshell. TESTO DELL'ARTICOLO ➜ https://www.bastabugie.it/8541OMELIA XVI DOMENICA T. ORD.

Tuhan Yesus memberkati. Doa:Tuhan Yesus, penuhilah aku dengan kasih-Mu sehingga melalui kehadiranku banyak orang merasa bahagia. Amin. (Dod).

In doing this, Madison is not dismissing the pain and anger that many who leave the Church feel. Rather, he offers letters on familiar topics showing how to navigate a new world with healthy principles, perspective, healing, and good decision-making. Neither Madison nor I are inviting people to leave the Church—but leaving is a reality. Conrad shares how advances in affordable sensors, wireless technologies, and digital platforms are helping small and mid-sized manufacturers begin their Industry 4.0 journey without massive capital investments. He explains why smart manufacturing is about more than technology—it requires a cultural shift toward data-driven decision-making, enterprise-wide connectivity, and continuous improvement. My friend Becca Moore—who had a strong testimony—bravely shares the difficult road she faces as a transgender Latter-day Saint. Being transgender and living authentically has been healing and liberating for Becca—the challenge/pain is not being accepted/supported by the Church or her family. Becca (age 61, four children, 9 grandchildren, RM from South Korea Seoul West mission, grew up in Sandy UT, BYU grad, career in banking) shares the negative impact of the Church's August 2024 transgender restrictions (see https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2024/08/24/new-lds-church-policies/) causing her to feel unsafe at Church and exposing her and other transgender members to humiliation and abuse. Becca talks about being able to attend Relief Society and how that all changed with the new restrictions and other difficult experiences. It is heartbreaking to hear. We both talk about problems with far-right political ideology that has demonized transgender folks—the same heartbreaking historical pattern repeating itself with gay/lesbian folks, blacks, Native Americans, Jews, etc. We talk about Christ's teaching and gospel principles that show us how to love and support our transgender friends. We talk about the need as a church/society to live up to Elder Rasband's invitation to support our transgender friends: “Elder Ronald A. Rasband taught that people who experience transgender feelings need to be encircled in the arms of their Savior and know they are loved. So often the Lord calls on us; He expects us to be His welcoming, loving arms. We need to encourage their friends to do the same” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/topics/transgender/supporting) Thank you Becca for being on the podcast and sharing your honest story. Our lack of support for you is heartbreaking. I hope we can all listen to your story and then consider what we can do in our circle of influence to follow Christ's example to love and support those on the margins like our dear transgender and non-binary friends. You are super brave to share your story. You give me hope.

Amin. (Dod).

Too Big to Farm

Growing the Future

Dan opened the session by noting that a billion-dollar Prairie farming operation had entered creditor protection -- and that nearly 40 farms were in or near distress that year. Robert Andjelic had received roughly 40 calls from farms across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and elsewhere, all with a common thread: lenders were tightening, some operators could not access input credit, and they wanted to sell land and rent it back while keeping their equipment running and their family farming. Robert completed four of those transactions. He was direct about the others: they either did not fit his land criteria or could not be executed on terms that made sense. The session poll showed roughly half the room believed the current stress is both structural and cyclical -- a hard stretch exposing cracks that were already forming. Robert provided a compressed history of farm size in Canada, from 1925 when 10,000 acres was considered enormous, through the post-2000 acceleration driven by GPS auto-steer, massive air seeders, zero-till, low interest rates after 2008, normalized leasing, and aging operators. His conclusion: one modern operator now does what five to ten farm families previously required, and that trajectory will continue. Tim Hammond placed the hardest growth window at 2,500 to 6,000 acres -- the point where a family operation transitions from one set of implements to multiple, and from family labor to hired crews with all the human resource and financial management that demands. After 6,000, Tim argued, the next logical step is to think in enterprise pods -- another 6,000 acres, another labor module -- rather than organic farm growth. Robert's position: there is no correct size. He has tenants farming 1,000 acres who are as profitable as his 30,000-acre operators. His own loan-to-value sits below 24 percent because he built over 60 years when land was cheap. Cap rate on Prairie land purchased today: 1.5 to 3 percent, maybe 3.5 if the seller needs cash. He was blunt about marketing: "A lot of producers are very good at producing but they are shit poor in marketing," and that gap -- benchmarked by MNP at roughly $70 per acre -- is a large part of what separates farms that survive downturns from those that do not. The sharpest exchange of the session came when Dallas LeDuc joined. He is the fire chief of RM 44, a small rural municipality where Robert is likely the largest landowner. Dallas had recently stopped spraying to respond to a fire on land Robert owns. He argued that absentee landlords should pay a modestly higher property tax rate -- not punitive, maybe 10 to 15 percent higher -- to fund the fire trucks, training, and equipment that local volunteers maintain and use to protect land the landlords will never physically see. Robert's counter was structural: his tenants are local and respond to fires; making tax exceptions for agriculture creates red flags with institutional lenders; and the most important thing he does for Prairie producers is not visible -- it is the 12 to 13 years and more than $50,000 he has spent flying to Toronto to sit with bank decision-makers and explain to them that agricultural lending does not work like commercial real estate. His argument: when a lender in Toronto extends patience to a distressed farm instead of foreclosing, every producer in Western Canada benefits -- and no individual operator has the leverage to make that case to the head offices the way he can. Dallas was not persuaded. He closed with the line that his great-grandfather left France in 1904 to get away from doctors and lawyers owning the land, and he is afraid that is exactly where the Prairies are heading. Key Topics Farm credit stress in Western Canada 2026: nearly 40 farms in distress; Robert Andjelic received 40 calls from operators wanting to sell and rent back; completed 4 transactions Live session poll: roughly 50 percent of audience said the current crisis is both structural and cyclical History of farm scale in Canada: 1925 to today -- from 10,000 acres enormous to 50,000-plus now common What drove post-2000 farm growth: GPS auto-steer, massive air seeders, zero-till, post-2008 low interest rates, aging operators, normalized leasing Tim Hammond's growth framework: hardest growth is 2,500 to 6,000 acres; after 6,000, think in enterprise pods Robert Andjelic's cap rate reality: Prairie land bought today yields 1.5 to 3 percent; his own LTV is below 24 percent built over 60 years "A strategy is what you say no to" -- Tim Hammond on the discipline of farm scale decisions Marketing gap: roughly $70 per acre difference between producers who market well and those who do not (MNP benchmark referenced) Absentee landlord taxation debate: Dallas LeDuc (fire chief, RM 44) vs. Robert Andjelic -- rural community burden vs. capital market access argument Robert Andjelic's Toronto bank work: 12-13 years, $50,000+ in meetings, translating agriculture to commercial real estate lenders Kevin Hursh on retiring farmers: those who rail against big farms all their lives tend to sell to the biggest neighbour when retirement comes; breaking land into smaller parcels would give next-generation operators a chance Robert's macro thesis: higher commodity prices incoming due to Strait of Hormuz disruption, fertilizer supply constraints, and a potential super El Nino cycle Family farm vs. corporate model: Tim Hammond -- corporate farms must learn family commitment; family farms must learn corporate structure; the marriage of the two is the future Connect Kevin Hursh -- Western Producer columns; hursh.ca Robert Andjelic -- farmland.ca Dallas LeDuc -- Bunnyhug Farmers Podcast; TikTok growingthefuture.ca Register for the Convergence Conference at convergence.ag and stay updated by subscribing to the Growing the Future Podcast at growingthefuturepodcast.ca.

Dilyn talks about not going to Church but attending the UVU LGBTQ Institute class—and how that class (and all the supportive Institute Teachers)—eventually created a desire to go back to Church and the Temple—including telling her Bishop and Stake President “I'm a Bisexual Queer Woman and I'm done hiding, especially at Church.” Thank you Dilyn for your courage to come on the podcast and share your story. You are super brave and courageous. I learned so much from you story on how to better love and support LGBTQ Latter-day Saints. You helpful me further realize that fulling owning one's identity and having supportive people in one's life can be the road back to the Church. You are awesome. And I wish the UVU LGBTQ Institute class could scale church-wide so more could have the love, understanding, help connecting to God/Jesus, support that are in the class. Antonia Barnett McIntosh is a Tāmaki-based Composer, performer, sound artist, editor and curator. Her multidisciplinary practice often seeks out various modes of connection through collaboration. Collaborating between the threshold spaces of speech/music, performance/rehearsal, composition/writing. Drawing connections between mediums, finding this  mutual thread between artistic outputs to build upon. Often working with musicians, dancers, poets, visual artists, and Filmmakers.  In her current exhibition at RM, A Ponder of Transported Local Delicacies Barnett McIntosh presents a beautiful sound installation which comprises captured moments of field recordings, and speech. Applying this musical thought to speech, that approaches speech as an instrument in istelf—tunning into its inherent musicality. Reflecting on this in-between state of the live and the documented dwelling in one's mind and body.  The sound work itself is dispersed across four channels, creating a dynamic sonic landscape that morphs and shifts, as one moves around the space. Alongside the sound installation Barnett McIntosh offers this secondary mode of documentation within the show text, through a piece of writing, by writer Lisa Samuels. Samuels will also be involved in a collaborative activation of the gallery space with Barnett McIntosh, through a series of performances. Emphasising the active liveliness of the gallery space and the circulative artistic discourse.  Maya caught up with Antonia about the show, as well as her overall practice.

G P U在A I系统中之所以能战胜C P U,就是因为对A I输入的指令相对简单,但是背后要做大量的计算,对G P U这种并行计算的需求更大。
