I'm one year sober, just turned 40, and I run a successful business. And I'm still starting over. Not because I lost everything, but because I changed. The life I had doesn't fit the woman I'm becoming. If you've ever thought, “Is this it?” this episode is for you.Relationships -Sobriety changes your relationships. Some people will cheer for you, and some will disappear. I had to learn to let go, reintroduce myself, and stop chasing people who didn't see the new me.Business - I didn't start my business sober, but now I run it as this new version of me. With clearer boundaries and a bigger vision, I'm building something that actually supports my energy.Fitness and Routine - I created my version of 75 Hard, that is about consistency, not punishment. Daily movement, clean habits, and showing up for myself have reminded me I can keep promises.Finances - I pulled my head out of the sand and started being intentional about money. I'm focused on earning, saving, and giving in ways that feel powerful and aligned.Identity - Turning 40 made me stop pretending. I'm dressing how I want, trying new things, and asking who I am when no one's watching. It's not about reinventing. It's about remembering. This isn't a breakdown. It's a fresh start. And this might be your sign to begin again, too.Step into Your Sober Era! Are you ready to embrace a life of clarity and empowerment? Let's embark on this transformative journey together! This feels like a special episode because today I'm celebrating an entire year of being alcohol free. Sitting here in this same office, thinking about where I was last year, it's wild. There is no way this happened. But it did.I'm telling the whole truth. The freedom and the pain. The messy middle. The wins like running two 10Ks. Turning 40. Changing the way I parent. Growing my business. And I'm also sharing the parts that broke me wide open.I thought I'd lose people. I did. I thought I'd be boring. I'm not. I thought people would hate me. They didn't. I thought I didn't belong in those rooms, and then I realized I didn't belong in the drinking ones either. This is about more than just not drinking. It's about building a life I actually want to be present for. It's about peace. It's about feeling everything. It's about finding out who I really am without the numbing alcohol that gave me. And if I can do this and make it through this year, I promise you can do anything too.Let's crack open that Diet Coke and cheer to ONE YEAR SOBER!Check Out, Your Story is Someone's Life Raft HEREStep into Your Sober Era! We hadn't talked in years after that wild night, but then I walked into the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous and there she was, holding up a mirror I wasn't ready for.We talk about being high-functioning alcoholics, the shame we carried, and what it was like to reconnect after everything. Emily shares raw stories from her book Mental Mayhem, including growing up in violence, marrying her abuser, and learning to break the cycle. This one's real, vulnerable, and one of my favorite conversations as it shares the highs and lows of going on a sobriety journey.Connect with Emily Blossom @soulblossomtribeStep into Your Sober Era! Thriving at social events without alcohol can feel impossible until you do it. I sat down with Lauren Fay, who's been alcohol free for seven years. She shares what it takes to walk into events confidently, without a drink in your hand, and still feel like you belong. We're talking about creating a new identity, letting go of the fear of missing out, and understanding why most of us are less extroverted than we think.Lauren shares her take on the term California Sober, how she gave up caffeine, and why the rituals matter more than the alcohol itself. If you're wondering how to show up, stay true to yourself, and have fun without drinking, you'll love this one. We're choosing freedom over fear, clarity over numbing, and showing up fully as ourselves! We also unpack why moderation rarely works, the mental energy alcohol steals, and how to stop justifying your choice not to drink.Whether you're newly sober, sober curious, or just tired of feeling like alcohol is the only way to have fun, this is your permission slip to rewrite the rules. Choosing sobriety every damn day isn't always easy, and sometimes it takes a humbling moment to stay locked in. I'm sharing the story of my “suddenly moment” sitting in front of a Maverick gas station, fighting the urge to buy drinks, and realizing how close I came to throwing away nine months of sobriety.I talk about how my brain spiraled, what tools I reached for, and how I got myself back on track by leaning into my support system, attending meetings, and surrendering to the process. It wasn't perfect, but it reminded me why I choose sobriety every single day. This isn't about one big decision, it's about the small, daily choices we make to stay strong. Some days are easy, and some catch you off guard. I'm sharing how I recommitted to my sobriety, why surrendering isn't about giving up, and the daily practices that help me stay grounded when things get tough.Step into Your Sober Era! Writing can be a powerful tool for healing, and I want to invite you to try this exercise with me. Writing about your experiences can help you see the lessons in your past and guide you toward an alcohol-free life.I met my 19‑year‑old self for drinks today and remembered a time when overwhelming nausea, stress, and early motherhood pushed me toward a Sprite to ease the pain. That moment reminded me how our earliest struggles set the stage for the choices we make later, teaching the importance of self-care even in the darkest times.I encountered my 22‑year‑old self, who reached for a vodka cranberry to dull the heartbreak and chaos of raising a baby amid a difficult breakup. That memory made it clear that numbing the pain only deepens it, and true healing begins when we face our emotions head-on.At 30, I saw a version of me juggling entrepreneurial dreams and heavy responsibilities, clinging to the illusion of a drink in hand to hide my vulnerability. This meeting taught me that growth comes from accepting our fears and realizing that real self-acceptance blossoms when we let go of harmful crutches. Finally, meeting my 39‑year‑old self—who chose long runs, early coffee dates, and genuine connections over another round—reminded me that transformation is possible when we honor our true selves and choose clarity over the chaos of alcohol.I encourage you to try this writing exercise on your own. Reflect on your past, write down your memories, and discover the insights that can lead you to a more authentic, alcohol-free future.Step into Your Sober Era! Have you ever wondered if your drinking habits are actually normal? I'm breaking down the eight biggest signs that made me realize I wasn't a “normal” drinker. We're diving into both facts and feelings because sometimes we need science to slap us in the face and other times, we know in our gut.If you've ever found yourself mentally preparing for drinking events, obsessing over your calendar, or pushing drinks on your friends just so it feels normal, this episode is for you. Here's what we're covering:- The moment I realized I wasn't a “normal” drinker- The guilt & shame cycle keeps us stuck- Why setting new health goals without changing your drinking never works- How alcohol tricks you into thinking you're in control- The difference between social drinkers & alcoholicsAnd let's be real, if you've ever felt proud for “handling” your drinking one night only to spiral the next, that's a major red flag. I'm so excited to have a guest on today, my friend Ashley. She has an extraordinary sobriety story. I think it helps people to hear other people's stories so they're like, “Hey, I'm not crazy.” And then, sometimes, you can pick up different tools or different things that work for different people.I spend a lot of time answering TikTok questions, comments, and DMs, and everyone wants to know, “How'd you do this? How'd you do that? Did you do this? Did you do that?” So I can only speak from my own experience but I think it's great to have a guest on because I haven't had one for a while who can talk about their experience in sobriety.Ashley tried everything to stop drinking: counseling, medication, and even detox. But going into AA really changed everything for her. She loves that we all have unique experiences; what works for one person doesn't work for another. She talks about how she picked up tools, listened to people in meetings, and focused on real healing.I'm a big fan of AA, but I know it can be hit or miss for some people. When you find the right group, though, it changes everything. You get support, real friends and a chance actually to work the steps. It's a big deal for anyone who feels alone, confused, or afraid to reach out. It's all about taking it one day at a time and realizing you can absolutely create a life free from alcohol.Enjoy!Connect with Ashley on Instagram HERE Step into Your Sober Era! Sobriety has taught me a lot, but one of the biggest lessons is learning to mind my own business.Recently, I dove into Mel Robbins' new book and her “Let Them” theory, and it felt like it was written just for this stage of my journey. The idea is simple but so powerful: let people do what they're going to do without trying to control or react to it. Then, Let Me.It's been a total game changer for how I handle life, relationships, and even my emotions. So, how has “Let Them” helped me let go of other people's issues and focus on my own growth? Sobriety has already made me more empathetic and less reactive, but this mindset takes it to the next level. Whether it's navigating challenges with my family, parenting an adult child, or dealing with situations in business, this shift has created so much emotional peace. I've changed the way I react to everything. The “Let Them” also relates to our emotional well-being. Dr. Amy Johnson's perspective on being curious about your emotions and giving yourself grace really hit home for me. Feeling your emotions, rather than reacting to them, has been a huge part of my sober journey. It's about slowing down, honoring your truth, and knowing that even uncomfortable feelings are part of the human experience. If you're on a sober journey or just looking for ways to create a calmer, more peaceful life, this episode is for you.I'd love to hear your thoughts and how the “Let Them Theory” is working in your life!LET'S DO DRY JANUARY TOGETHER! The holidays are a magical time, but they can also bring stress and pressure, especially when navigating alcohol-filled social events.Remember, staying sober during the holiday season is entirely your choice. No one can force you to drink, and if someone does, you have the right to decline or even skip the event altogether. You're an adult, and your sobriety is important.Tips for Staying Sober this Holiday SeasonReflect on Past Experiences: Whether it's an embarrassing memory or a painful hangover, use past experiences to remind yourself why you chose sobriety.Bring Your Own Drinks: Samantha advises bringing your own non-alcoholic beverages to social gatherings. Let me tell you about my dad. He's lived a life packed with wild adventures and some pretty amazing entrepreneurial experiments. He once turned a Hot Wheels hobby into a family trip to Hawaii. Early morning treasure hunts for rare collectible cars turned into eBay gold. Who knew toy cars could fund a family getaway? Our family adventures were just as memorable. Camping and hiking in Utah's wilderness? Check. Navigating off-trail with early GPS? Yep. Surviving surprise rainstorms? Always. He was always ready for adventure, whether pitching a tent or cracking a joke about how wet we'd all get. Now, in retirement, he's a park ranger; he spilled so many stories, from enforcing no-drone rules to a hilarious DUI arrest in the wild. Add packing trips through Nevada's Ruby Mountains, and you've got a guy who's always on the move. But it's not all outdoor adventures. My dad's dabbled in so many markets, from selling Spongebob jewelry charms (to me) to antique collectibles on eBay. He's thinking about starting a YouTube channel and even volunteering at Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park.We also talked about TikTok trends, social media income streams, and why having multiple revenue sources is a must. His curiosity and endless stories left me encouraged to keep experimenting and laughing.Stay tuned; my dad's adventures aren't over, and neither are the stories he has to tell!LET'S DO DRY JANUARY TOGETHER! Six months sober feels surreal. After over 20 years of heavy drinking, I've finally stepped off the rollercoaster. My reasons for quitting?Exhaustion: mentally, physically, and emotionally.Alcohol controlled everything from my relationships, my choices, my potential and how I showed up as a mom to my kids. Trauma and addiction are deeply connected, and somatic therapy offers powerful tools for healing. We are talking to Jennie Pool, MS, LCMHC, BSP, LMT, who is the Clinical Director & Therapist at MEND Counseling Center.Using techniques like EMDR, brain spotting, and vibroacoustic sound therapy tap into the body's natural ability to process and release stored trauma without re-traumatization.Regulating the nervous system is key. Without grounding and restoring balance, stress can lead to nervous system fatigue. Tools like sound waves and simple grounding techniques help create a sense of safety and calm, making healing more sustainable.Coping mechanisms come in two forms: adaptive and maladaptive. Running, for example, supports overall health, while habits like excessive drinking may feel like a relief but only create more harm. Choosing healthier ways to manage stress can transform emotional and physical well-being.Healing starts from the inside out, focusing first on the body's sensations before diving into thoughts and emotions. This bottom-up approach allows for deeper, lasting recovery, giving the nervous system the space to reset and reclaim balance.Access to somatic healing shouldn't feel out of reach. Free resources, like YouTube tutorials and mental health tips, make practices accessible, even for those who can't afford therapy. The body holds incredible wisdom, and when we tune in, the path to recovery becomes clear. Healing is possible, and it starts with listening to what your body needs.Connect with JennieOn Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennie_pool/https://mendcounselingcenter.com/Want to Work with The Samantha Parker for Content Management CLICK HERE Grab my Sober Travel Tips Guide HERE Check out My Sober Storefront HERE Follow me on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@samanthaparkershow YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@thesamanthaparker Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thesamanthaparker/
I'm sitting down with Baytop Scott for a real and raw conversation about balancing masculine and feminine energies and how those imbalances show up in today's world. We're spilling the tea on everything from political divides to personal growth, keeping it honest about our own truths and roles in how we communicate with the world. We dive into our love for the country, passion for defending others' rights, and the importance of self-care, family support, and navigating personal struggles like addiction. And of course the aliens that are here among us.Get ready, we're hitting hot topics like radical politics, societal changes, and why empathy matters more than ever. But this isn't your typical divided conversation. Instead, we share ways to improve your own life while respecting others, focusing on authenticity and staying true to yourself; even on social media.Plus, Baytop teases her next big project, The Real Cosmic Joke, the whole idea is to really bring curiosity and conversation to the light of the world right now. Because, honestly, life isn't meant to be so serious. We hope to inspire you to reflect on your journey, connect with what truly matters, and improve communication skills (oh, and stay hydrated!). It's time to have more two-sided conversations about the things that can truly change your life and the lives of those around you.Connect with Baytop on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/baytopscott/Want to Work with The Samantha Parker for Content Management CLICK HERE Grab my Sober Travel Tips Guide HERE Check out My Sober Storefront HERE Follow me on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@samanthaparkershow YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@thesamanthaparker Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thesamanthaparker/

Karen Carpenter's sound was decade-defining – the sound of the 70's. The beat she created as drummer and lead singer of The Carpenters takes you back to that era in every track. With a voice that Burt Bacharach described as "clean, clear, like a flag flying over the song," Karen was a female icon in a male-dominated music world and quickly soared to the dizzying heights of fame, literally at the top of the world. But the pressures of her success and the complicated family dynamics in her band took their toll, exacerbating the anorexia which would eventually take her life at just 32. This week, Samantha Parker takes the lead again to tell Karen's story, looking beyond the smiling photos and honey infused sound, to explore an inner life dominated by a desperately misunderstood illness. We'll discover how Karen found her voice, hear about The Carpenters' meteoric rise to fame, but also explore the incredible toll that such a rise can have on young musicians, and women in particular. This week's ‘One for the Road' is a clip of Karen playing drums and singing ‘Dancing in the Street'. An iconic performance which cemented Karen's place as one of seventies' s most incredible drummers and singers, this is one of the best entrance's to Karen and the Carpenters' music. Join the DO THE THING RETREAT. Learn more HERE, or get in touch to ask me anything! What's up, Podsters? Today, we're peeling back the curtain TRUE self-confidence. I mean REALLY honoring your decisions, trusting your instincts and the difference between boundaries and simple decisions. In fact, we are adopting a powerful mantra for the week…are you ready? "You don't get to decide how I react to you." Partially inspired by recent conversations Samantha Parker and upcoming chat with Tiffany Carter, (spoiler alert… both confident and highly successful business women), I'm shining a light on how freeing it can be to not let others dictate our reactions OR undermine our decisions. Pretty powerful. Confidence grows with experience and true confidence is achieved when care less about other people's opinions and more about our own values and decisions. It's about viewing external opinions as simply data points. For example, when someone thinks poorly of you, this is just a fact, not a real reflection of your worth. Or who you are. Now, let's talk about the magic phrase: ** "I'm comfortable with my decisions."** These five words, when you truly believe them – help you to stand in the power of your decisions and your choices. This phrase will end ANY additional criticism, unsolicited opinions or debates and will instantly reaffirm your commitment to who you are. Remember – YOU get to decide how you react to what others are projecting, saying, how they are behaving and what they are doing. Standing firm in your decisions and not allowing others to derail your own path is game changing. I'd love to hear you practice saying "I'm comfortable with my decisions," and then notice the shift in your interactions. It's time to bet on yourself, Podsters. To truly stand in your confidence and stay firm in your decisions. And remember, you get to control how you react. And until next time, peace out! From the Wham Rap to Careless Whisper, Club Tropicana and Faith… Wham! and George Michael's discographies represent some of the best pop music to come out of the 1980s, the 1990's and beyond. George's iconic look and sound influenced the world and won him fans in their millions. But behind the stylish, cool exterior was a man battling with inner struggles. The social constructs of the time, the death of a partner and parent, the difficulty in separating George Michael the artist from Georgios ‘Yog' Panayiotou the man – all contributed to George's often troubled state of mind. These factors would haunt him throughout his life, exacerbating his substance use and perhaps bringing an end to his precious life too soon. Samantha Parker tells us his story from the joint space of a George Michael superfan and mental health practitioner. From discovering him in her teens to mourning his death in adulthood, she discusses how despite winning so many devoted fans around the world, early life events and relationships combined with fame and media scrutiny to create an inner fragility that few people saw. As George himself said “sometimes the clothes do not make the man.” This week's ‘One for the Road' chosen by Sam is super-producer Rick Rubin's seminal book, ‘The Creative Act: A Way of Being', which explores what creativity means, and how anyone can achieve success as an artist through their relationship to the world. You can buy a copy here: https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-creative-act/rick-rubin/9781838858636 Content Warnings: drugs, addiction and rehab; homophobia, HIV and AIDs; mental health, childhood trauma, postpartum depression, xenophobia, and police entrapment. ONE WEEK LEFT! > The Abundance League Mastermind Learn exactly how to scale your business to the high 6 and 7 figures without burning yourself out. {$3000 OFF SALE IS ENDING} There's a new highly profitable way to share your offers and market your business, and the entrepreneurs who are embracing this are cashing in, and the people who are resisting this change are losing THOUSANDS of dollars a day. Before your brain starts telling you, “Oh but I have such a small audience,” “I'm not someone who is going to shake my bootie on social media,” or “I'm boring and I don't want to be on my phone all the time!” HEAR ME OUT ON THIS. You showing up in your content as 100% you on any given day, the messy, the cute, the crabby, the tired, the joyful, the stressed, and all of the hundreds of emotional states in between > IS YOUR SECRET WEAPON. In fact, your showing up too polished, too put together, to surface, and too professional is what is killing your audience growth and sales. People want to deeply connect with the person they hire or the brand they are buying from, it's nearly impossible to do that IF you aren't showing all sides of yourself. Your brain tells you that it isn't professional to show up that way in my industry and that people won't buy from you if they really knew how much of a mess you really are behind the scenes. And I'm here today telling you with concrete proof, THAT THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. If you don't build trust quickly with strangers it could take YEARS before they feel safe enough to give you their time, energy, and money. The secret is to have your ideal client feel you are that new friend who they feel like they've known for years. The only way to do this with integrity is to show up in your content with your walls down and that social costume off. In this episode we talk with Samantha Reisz, EBB Childbirth Class graduate about her experiences taking the class and preparing for a waterbirth in a hospital with her “Golden Ticket” birth team, who were skilled and prepared to manage a placental cord avulsion also known as cord snapping. Samantha Reisz, she/her, is a Scholarly Assistant Professor of Human Development at Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington, just outside of the Portland, Oregon area. She completed her bachelor's in Psychology and master's in Infant Mental Health from Mills College in Oakland, California when she first began studying childbirth. Samantha then earned her PhD in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied infant parent relationships and the transition to parenthood. Samantha is a passionate scholar and educator. After years of studying these topics academically, she finally was able to live her own research with the birth of her first child. Samantha lives in Vancouver, Washington with her baby, partner, and two dogs. Samantha shares how she prepared to give birth for the first time with the use of a doula who recommended the EBB Childbirth Course. Samantha and her partner planned for a waterbirth in a hospital with an OBGYN attending the birth. After experiencing the beautiful waterbirth she had desired, complications arose in the 3rd stage with a placental cord avulsion. Her “Golden Ticket Birth Team” was skilled and prepared to support her through this experience. Content & Trigger warning: complications in the third stage of labor, active management of the third phase, umbilical cord snapping or avulsion, excessive blood loss Resources: Find out more about Samantha's work and research here. The Hey Hey Emmy Show | Faith and Social Media Business Marketing
I'm joined by one of my friends, Samantha Parker, to talk about how to make content easily. You'll learn about some tools you should use on Instagram, for your business, and for your content. It doesn't have to be complicated. We're going to show you how to make content that is entertaining, educational, and keeps people coming back for more.It starts with a mentality shift. Instead of thinking I have to do my Instagram or create a marketing plan-- think about all the cool, amazing, fun, ridiculous content I can create. If you can make the creation process more fun, more people will want to come back and engage with you! And that is where the shift happens.Your content, business, and life would be more fun if you treat them like a party. So, be the hostess with the mostess. Imagine going to a party and there is no vibe at all, and people just ignore you.... Despite your super confident self, you feel dumb. It is the same thing if you don't interact with the people who engage with you on Instagram. You may be wondering; how do I get people to come to my party? The best way to start a conversation is with a story. Sales results are driven by stories. Stories are a great way to engage people, build that know, like, and trust. Stories on Instagram trigger conversations in the DMS. You build relationships through conversations, and since your business is based on building relationships, these conversations equal cash. The FaceTime effect is most effective because having your face in your stories makes you more approachable as if you were talking to someone. This is why I challenge my clients to post more than just graphics on their stories, but a variety of ways for people to interact and engage. You create a brand that people want to engage with when you combine strategy with a party when sharing your content. Maintaining consistency is important so your audience knows what to expect from you. Whether you show up on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, you need a strategy and a schedule to keep your content interesting and fresh. Never forget that you are the hostess with the mostess. Join us as we discuss our Instagram and TikTok strategies. Find out how you can make content creation fun for you and your audience. Learn how and what to repurpose on other platforms. If you are a woman who wants to live and feel bad-ass, its important to surround yourself with women who get you, lift you and make you better. Friends who keep you on the rise, who keep you going because lets be real, life doesnt feel all glitter all the time. Which is exactly why I invited The Samantha Parker to join me on this soul-packed episode. She has been that powerhouse in my life, and I wanted to share her infectious lets make magic happen energy with you. Samantha has never backed down from a big idea. In fact, shes queen of turning her passions into reality, but its so much bigger than that. Shes created her own successful businesses in what seems like overnight, magic like founding Badassery Magazine and even interviewed Gary V, a dream of hers that again, just seemed to magically happen as an outsider looking in. But truly what makes her bad-ass and all glitter, is her relentless drive to be the greatest version of herself, even if it requires her to reinvent herself. She just answers yes when her soul calls. Thats what makes her truly inspiring to be around because it rubs off on you! Samantha makes being unstoppable look easy, even when its not, and the coolest thing, she invites all the women around her to join in her fun, glitter, and success. I love her and I know you will too!

You're kind of part of the self-love movement right now. Where did that all start? That's a great question. Where does the self of Journey start? It's really something I think that's been happening on our planet for thousands of years and now we're really coming to a big head. And so when you ask me where or myself love journey starts. I think it started from the moment I was born because as the second or born were constantly told what to do. What we should do how we should act, what we should look like. And then, as media, especially mainstream you get has gotten so popular and social media as well, it's just kind of had that awareness even more for self-love, because we're just having being shoved in our face so much, to really the journey for all of us begins from the second that we come into this world. Can you tell us a little bit about that and your back story? Yeah, so it's really just like where you wanna start. So there are lots of things that I've been through with everyone has their own story and personal stories are so important. So you guys, no matter what your story is to get in the comparison of it, just keep showing up and sharing your story as well, because your story can help a lot of people, and I have lots of different aspects to my story. There's, of course, I was a very young mom, that went through a very abusive, not healthy relationship, and then it just kind of smiled from there, where I went into a little bit of a depression and things like that, but really works to pull myself out of it. By feeding myself, just lots and lots of self-love, I love that. And when you say feeding yourself above what kind of things do you mean by that? Well, I really like wine and cheese. There are the actual aspects of feeding ourselves, which for some reason it has been turned into the mass media and bull shit, and it's just another aspect of control and too not let you love yourself a really feeding myself and enjoying what And that's helpful, but beating myself a positive people around me and feeding myself with honestly, any time I have a negative thought or anything like that instead of just writing from it, I lean into it, which I guess would be a form of being myself, right, so I really just lead into it and I'm like, "Why am I thinking that Why do I feel that way and then just transiting that... And to love and I know it sounds so cheesy, but everything can be solved with love and compassion, I completely agree and that leaning in part is something I know a lot of people struggle with. Do you have any suggestions on how to start leaning it, other than just leaning in? A lot of times people will do this thing where they're going through a thought process it so you might get up and you might be like, "Oh my gosh, I hate butt". "I'm lazy that's why I hate my butt". "My dad told me I had a bad butt". And the cycle continues. Now tell the little girl, "Hey you're amazing and your butt is amazing too". And you just immediately reverse the cause of it, so what we tend to do, and even in the positivity where all this you'll hear people even say things like mantras can fix everything and they really can't. Because if I'm just sitting here saying I love myself, I love myself. That's pregnant awesome, but you're just kind of masking what's really there at the root cause. You have to notice what you notice so notice what you notice and don't just dismiss it as bull shit. I really noticed why you're noticing. Once you discover the root causes and then you can switch it, and then you can use mantras or positive sayings and be like, Wow, that is amazing. If you can look for the connections versus the consumption, that's what I am encouraging everyone to do is look for the connections versus the consumption. ProjectME with Tiffany Carter – Entrepreneurship & Millionaire Mindset
Your Facebook group is a ghost town leaving you frustrated, and you’re wondering how in the heck do all of these people have poppin’ online communities, “what am I missing here people?” Does that sound about right? (give or take a few cuss words) Here’s the thing, we need have to have a reality check as our brain can come up with crazy unrealistic expectations on where we are suppose to be at in our business, with our amount of followers, and all the things…most of which are NUTS. It takes years to build a flourishing highly engaged community of loyal fans. Now there are things you can do strategically to help speed up the process, but ultimately time is a major factor. So I first need you to take a heaping dose of patience. If you don’t already have another built up platform to crossover your audience from YouTube to a Facebook group or from a popular Podcast to a Facebook group, it will take longer as you don’t have any community heavily built just yet. One of the biggest mistakes people make when creating an online community is they make it about themselves and their brand, and not about their ideal client. A community is when your members not only come to talk to you, but they come to hang out and chat with the other people in the community. It is your job to encourage and facilitate these interactions, while creating a great space where your people want to come and hang out on the daily. To learn exactly how to do this, I brought on someone who I feel is incredible at cultivating community, Samantha Parker, Founder of the girlsquadseries.com and a Digital Community Development Expert Samantha built her business on the belief that being successful in this world is all about believing that you're capable of far more than you can imagine. That belief must come from within and it's reinforced by the people you surround yourself with. Self Care and The Badassery Lifestyle During this 10th episode of the Self Care Passport podcast, Janae Fletcher, self-care architect, quiet leader, personal and professional mentor, creator of the Self Care Passport process, and host interviews Samantha Parker and Kathy Rasmussen, Founders and Creators of Badassery Magazine. Janae, Samantha, and Kathy talk about business and how self-care plays an important role in sharing and creating their passion. Show Notes: Introduction of guest Samantha and Kathy, Founders of Badassery Magazine. What is badassery? Living in Badassery is living true to yourself and helping bring others dreams to life. Kathy and Samantha´s Book: Badassery Style Community: A Step-by-Step Guide to Planning your Way to an Ultra Engaged community The magazine was originally published in print but that wasn´t serving them so they moved their magazine onto a new platform, Medium. The new platform makes their articles more searchable. It was a hard decision to switch from print to a digital platform which is a good decision in the long-term to share the message. Digital print allows Badassery to get their message further. It is easy to be passive about self-care and health, but essentially your body is the vessel you can go out and create in the world. Both Badassery women shifted their self-care perspective after going to Chicago to see Tony Robbins. Differentiating between self-medicating (to cover pain) and self-care can be difficult. When differentiating between types of self-care, it helps to understand your desires and motivation. Self-care shows up in their business. Self-care is balance and a process. Being ok with ¨the now¨ is a process of falling out of it and then coming back in. Samantha and Kathy are leading a trip to Bali in March of 2019 There is a leverageable power within unstructured time used for networking, connection, and idea creation Samantha and Kathy put self-care stamps in their passports by being a tourist of their own town and giving themselves permission to shut off and disconnect. 3 Key Points: When you use self-care, it manifests not only in your life but also in your business. Differentiating between self-medicating and self-care is important in being effective. Self-care is a mix of balance and sticking with the process. Tweetable Quotes: - “Self-care is a balance and a process.” –Janae. - “The message is the important part not how it looks.” –Samantha. - “[Self-care] It is a daily thing but it becomes a little easier when you have the right tools.” –Kathy. - “As we grow as humans, the business grows with us.” –Samantha. Welcome to Episode 59 of The Sparkle Hour featuring Samantha Parker & Kathy Ramussen of Badassery Magazine! We considered turning this episode into a “drinking game” around the words “Badass” or “Badassery”, then reflected that we would be so plastered by the end, we decided not to roll with that. Samantha & Kathy share the “origin story” of Badassery Magazine. How they met, how the clicked and how they grew into what they are today. They reflect on their relationship and how their complementary skills make the business work. They reflect on the magazines they enjoyed growing up and how those publications inspired them…even if it was just from teenage heartthrob posters. The ladies describe how the magazine works: how they find articles and distribute them. They address why they chose a magazine format over a blog format. Most importantly, they share what is REALLY mean to be a badass and how we all can get there...without tattoos and motorcycles. BadasseryMag.com

Move out of the way--Badassery Magazine is here, glitter and all! This week’s guests Samantha Parker and Kathy Rasmussen have built the Badassery brand from the ground up, creating a magazine, a networking platform, and a movement for badass bosses and female entrepreneurs who are ready to get shit done. The Badassery brand has come a long way since the day that Sam texted Kathy from her bathroom one morning with an idea for a revolutionary new magazine. The journey has not been easy. Sam will tell us about her experience with motherhood and divorce at an early age, and Kathy’s experience with unemployment and foreclosure is familiar to many of us. However, these experiences did not hold them back, but rather, they lead these women to be the badass bosses that they are today. Join us for a conversation about surviving, thriving, and drinking wine in which Sam and Kathy will tell us how to start living by our own rules and follow our passions. They will also tell us what makes Badassery so unique and why there is no competition with other publications. Be sure to keep listening to the end, where they will recommend: 4 apps to help you be a more productive and badass professional 5 people to follow for inspiration at home and at work 3 books to read for developing the habits and instincts of successful women Check these out at www.girlskill.com/49 P. Badassery Bosses is a community for women entrepreneurs to have a voice. All articles and content are from the community. Kathy Rasmussen and Samantha Parker created their first online magazine in 45 days. With their balance of business and fun, this dynamic duo knows how to get stuff done! Kathy was tired of trying to guest blog. Like most great ideas, Badassery came to her in the bathroom one morning. The magazine is about the entrepreneurial lifestyle, not just the business aspect. When we can take off our mask and let our true self shine, we get to be badassed. How do we get past of our fear of rejection to truly radiate our inner self? Listen to Kathy and Samantha share how to own it, decide it, and execute it. The January Issue of Badassery Magazine is on body acceptance, evolving into self-love. In January, we’re inundated with information that says we’re not enough as we are. The badass move was to counter New Year’s Resolutions. We talk about rebellion against “New Year New You” messaging. While we have fun, we also talk REAL about embracing who we are in order to set an example for others, especially our daughters. How can you bring out your badass? Take a listen.
