This week on Nintendo Pow Block:Edward Varnell goes solo to cover a packed week of Nintendo news. Nintendo is teaming up with the Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance to bring competitive gaming to schools, letting over 80,000 students jump into Smash Ultimate, Splatoon 3, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with free NSO memberships and codes to get them started. On the flip side, Pokémon scalpers are at it again. McDonald's Japan had to pull its Pokémon card Happy Meal promo in just 24 hours, and scalpers showed up in full force at the 2025 Pokémon World Championships to snatch up exclusive merch for resale—leaving fans frustrated once more.Edward also chats about the chances of Tekken 8 making it to Switch 2, Bandai Namco's accidental tease of a Tales of Xillia remaster, and the surprise arrival of Chibi-Robo on the GameCube NSO Expansion Pack. It's a fun mix of esports, Pokémon chaos, and some classic Nintendo goodness. This and more on Nintendo Pow Block!Follow our Hosts: Edward Varnell, Cofounder of Boss Rush NetworkCorey Dirrig, Founder of Boss Rush Media and the Boss Rush NetworkJoin the Boss Rush Community: Join the Boss Rush Network Community DiscordFollow Boss Rush Network: Follow Boss Rush Network on X/Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and InstagramSupport Boss Rush Network:Support Boss Rush on Patreon and buy merch on our Store. Today, three grown men try to explain "locking in". One, with words, one, with brevity, and one...by referring to the One Piece powerscaling subreddit. Hawk Eyed guy is still the best swordsman in the series, though. Later, Chris expresses his disappointment with the continued SEGA & Roblox partnership and how his favorite thing is kind of uncool now. Also, Brody breaks our brains. Again. On this episode, I catch up with an old friend from Biddeford, Michael Crain. It's been decades since we hung out at ugly sweater parties, Dave Matthews shows, and St. Louis Field, so we had a lot to cover.Crain shares his journey from growing up in Biddeford to running Maccoon's, selling burgers & dogs in Biddeford Pool, which eventually led him into the world of advertising. Now 19 years deep at Goodby Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, he's worked on massive campaigns for Doritos, Nintendo, Truly, Sam Adams, and more rubbing elbows with everyone from Lady Gaga to Big Papi.We talk about the mentors and town characters who shaped him, the leap of faith that took him West, his creative side projects like Super Much, and how he's building community today with Baldydash. It's part reunion, part career deep dive, and a reminder of the impact Biddeford roots can have no matter where life takes you.

We're officially off to the....races! Matt Storm (Fun & Games/Reignite) returns for the start of SNES coverage as we take a high-speed dive into F-Zero, Nintendo's flashy, futuristic racer. We break down its roots as a Mode 7 tech demo, the absence of two-player, and why it still kind of rules despite being brutally unfair. We dig into Captain Falcon's bounty hunting origins, a quick dunk on Final Fantasy XVI, and an earnest longing for the return of real ass game manuals. Fretless/Date Everything! Shawn O'Malley and Daniel Mahnke break down Lululemon (ticker: LULU), an iconic brand famous for pioneering the now ubiquitous athleisure industry. Lululemon has a fiercely loyal customer base, with industry-leading rates of repeat customers, sales per square foot of retail space, and very little need for discounting, if any. In this episode, you'll learn about why the market has soured on this powerful brand, despite incredible success growing internationally, leaving its P/E ratio at a relatively low 15-16x. You'll also learn about how Lululemon controls all of its touchpoints with customers, selling primarily DTC, as opposed to wholesale like Nike and Adidas do, as well as whether LULU is attractively valued today, plus so much more! IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN 00:00 – Intro 04:23 - Why Lululemon has such a cult-like following. 07:19 - What makes Lululemon products so special. 15:41 - How new competitors are challenging Lululemon on the margins. 20:59 - How the future of Lululemon may be defined by China and menswear. 26:48 - Why the setup for LULU stock may be even more attractive than Nike. 53:48 - What to know about possible yellow flags with the business, like its declining inventory turnover ratio and expanding cash conversion cycle. 01:01:57 - Why the company's acquisition of the sports-tech hardware company, Mirror, failed so miserably. 01:07:15 - How to think about modeling LULU's intrinsic value. 01:16:16 - Whether Shawn and Daniel add LULU to their Intrinsic Value Portfolio. *Disclaimer: Slight timestamp discrepancies may occur due to podcast platform differences. Welcome back to Nintendo Therapy, the podcast where we dive into the latest Nintendo news, rumors, and of course, celebrate all things Big N!This week, Kevin kicks things off with a look at Chibi-Robo, now available on NSO—a quirky, heartfelt adventure about a tiny household robot who makes people happy by cleaning, problem-solving, and exploring the world from a miniature perspective.Harrison jumps in to share his thoughts on Drag X Drive, a unique $20 release that Nintendo spotlighted despite its unconventional design. Is it a proof-of-concept game that hints at a brighter future for inclusive character representation, or just a flat experiment? We also shell out some time for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown and the wild state of the TMNT franchise. From Shredder's Revenge to Mutants Unleashed, it feels like the Turtles are everywhere—does this variety signal growth, or a lack of focus? Then it's back to Hyrule for our Spotlight Game of the Week: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Long considered the “black sheep” of the series, we unpack its bold ideas, cult following, and ask: would a modern remake finally give it the respect it deserves? All that and more!

Lured Up Podcast 358 Live Streamed on - 8/12/25 Publish Date - 8/15/25 With less than two weeks until the GO Fest Max Finale, the event calendar will not be giving anyone a calm before the storm. It's time to start strategizing on how to best prepare for the lead up to Eternatus. From item and storage maintenance, to banking consumable items, it is in your best interest to start thinking about how you want to approach the event. The Dark Skies rollout of Max Battles should help you focus on what you want, and we know the community wants to get after Eternamax Eternatus. The recap kicks off with Cozy Companions and Munchlax Hatch Day, which worked well at bringing together catching, grinding, and hatching. The six hour window took some pressure off and gave Trainers time to put in some kilometers. The rates for Shiny Munchlax were strong, so the event was generally well received. Sunday's Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day however, was the opposite. Early reports from New Zealand came through saying that the Shiny Rate wasn't boosted, with some Trainers throwing up triple digit Raid counts and walking away without a single Shiny. For us in the US, we typically don't worry about things that break early, as they tend to get fixed well before the Eastern Time Zone. Niantic Help put out a tweet stating that they have identified an issue regarding the Shiny rate during the event, but they unfortunately didn't mention anything about fixing it. The broken Shiny rate put a damper on enthusiasm and absolutely cut many Trainer's days short. What would have been the perfect six hour grind, quickly turned into scorned pockets of resentful Trainers. The Tweet stated that compensation was coming, but the conversation moved to what and how it would work. Trainers had already invested significant time and in some cases a lot of money into the event, so a makeup day would just mean they would have to reinvest. A packed calendar makes it hard to even fit another 6 hour event in. Could this come in Timed Research based on how many Raids you won? Time will tell! TCW Podcast Episode 240 - Nintendo: Playing with Mii & Wii From DS touch-and-stylus play to living-room motion, we trace Nintendo's road to Wii. Nintendogs and Brain Age broadened the audience to parents and grandparents. After cold receptions at Microsoft and Sony, inventor Tom Quinn's Gyration motion tech found a home at Nintendo, and internal prototypes were so fun they became Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wii Fit. The reveal timeline runs from Reggie Fils-Aime's 2004 E3 DS debut and "Revolution" tease, to a controller-free console showing at E3 2005, to the surprise Wii Remote reveal during Iwata's Tokyo Game Show keynote, and the full unveiling at E3 2006. Built on refined GameCube internals, the Wii favored low cost, low noise, and always-on convenience, with Miis inspired by Japanese wooden dolls (Kokeshi) and a channel interface modeled on a TV wall to invite quick, family-friendly play. The digital landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, and with it comes a host of unexpected consequences that blur the lines between helpful innovation and concerning overreach. In this eye-opening episode, we examine how AI is creeping into spaces where human judgment and empathy might better serve us.A troubling new wave of voice phishing attacks has emerged, with cybercriminals using AI to perfectly mimic human voices in real-time conversations. Even tech giant Google fell victim to this sophisticated approach when the notorious Shiny Hunters group breached their Salesforce CRM instance. The days of obvious phishing emails are behind us – now your boss's voice on the phone might actually be an AI impersonation designed to extract sensitive information. Our special guest Nick Espinoza joins us to unpack the fascinating world of AI competitions, revealing how OpenAI's model recently outperformed Elon Musk's Grok in a chess tournament. But the conversation takes a more serious turn when we discuss government pushes for backdoor access to AI chips – ostensibly for security, but creating vulnerabilities that could be exploited. Most alarming is the FDA's implementation of AI in drug approval processes, with former employees reporting the system hallucinating non-existent studies and misrepresenting research. The human cost of AI overreach becomes clear when we explore the growing trend of using chatbots for psychological support. As one journalist discovered when using ChatGPT for couples counseling, these systems lack the empathy and insight necessary for therapeutic work, exhibiting "sycophancy" by agreeing with users rather than providing objective guidance. On a lighter note, we tackle Nintendo's official announcement that Mario has been friend-zoned by Princess Peach after four decades of rescue missions, and share the tale of a man who successfully sued Google after Street View captured him naked in his private backyard despite having a tall privacy wall.Pour yourself a glass and join us as we taste Still Austin Straight Rye whiskey while navigating the complex intersection of technology, privacy, and human connection in our rapidly evolving digital world.Support the show

You would be forgiven for thinking the focus of this episode was ending music, which makes sense considering ballads are often used for ending tracks. Ballads traditionally tell a story or narrative, and while these tracks are purely instrumental, they still convey a lot through emotion.
