This week, Chris takes a trip to Pandora to delve into the design of Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron's latest jaw-dropping cinematic epic. His guide is Ben Procter, the super-talented production designer who specializes in creating vehicles and environments for Avatar antagonists the RDA — to the extent that he thinks of himself as the “bad guy” of the art department. Ben goes into a fascinating deep-dive into the design and construction of the S-76 SeaDragon, the formidable whaling ship that becomes the setting for the film's final act. Ben talks about how the design process works between the writers, other artists, VFX studios, and James Cameron himself. Ben also gives his thoughts on artificial intelligence and how it's going to change a generation.

Taxpayers have so far paid more than $140 million worth of subsidies to help produce the upcoming sequels to the Avatar movie.According to figures from the New Zealand Film Commission, the cash rebates for the upcoming movies will be the second largest in the agency's history. The only production to have received more taxpayers' cash is the Hobbit movies – which received more than $161m between 2012 and 2015.But, given the last of the four Avatar sequels is not due to be released until 2028, it's likely the government cash it will receive in total will overtake the Lord of the Rings prequels at some point soon. The Act Party wants the Government to immediately stop providing subsidies to studios producing movies in New Zealand.Deputy leader Brooke van Velden joins Nick Mills.LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You don't even have to make assets from scratch anymore, at this point. Bricks can really determine scale in any sort of scene, just measure a brick and make sure it's the right size. Going back in time to learn how they did it back then will help you a lot when figuring out when to make a model efficient. It's like learning how to do a really hard way in order to do it the easier way now. You can learn so much by just taking other people's work or other people's sets. Take them, pull them apart, see how they do things, see how things look together… That's all really useful. This week on THE ROE SHOW I sit down with Red Bull Cliff Diver Andy Jones. Andy and I discuss the world of cliff diving, how he became a Red Bull athlete and some of his competition stories surrounding one of the most popular sports on TV today. With10 podium finishes, including one victory and two overall thirds in 49 competitions between 2011 and 2019, he is one of the best divers in the world with an extensive cliff diving career. Andy Jones, who describes himself as sarcastic, clever and genuine, lists baseball, acrobatics and freestyle skiing as his major drivers. Over the past few years, the tall, California born athlete has taught himself the art of filmmaking and is the creative mind of USA Cliff Diving, who aim to raise awareness for their sport through a candid approach to documenting their experiences. Andy has many talents in so many fields, that it doesn't surprise he's pursued careers as an acrobatic performer in Cirque du Soleil, delved into stunt performing and is an established character in the sport of cliff diving. Ever since his debut victory during the first-ever night event in Dubai, the 'master of aerial awareness' earned the respect from all his competitors. A stuntman in James Cameron's Avatar Sequels, the Southern California resident wishes for one superpower: putting things in slow motion. Just to being able to do a perfect dive: "You're striving for a ten, but I've never seen one in competition, so I'm working more for the 9s; those are pretty attractive to me at this point." Career Highlights: • 2019 - 2nd Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Italy & Ranked 3rd in the World • 2019 & 2016 - 3rd overall Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series • 2016 - Winner Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Dubai (UAE) • 2007 - University of Utah 'Diver of the Year' For more information on Andy Jones or to follow him: http://www.cliffdiving.us/ IG: @Andy.Jones.Diver For more information on our Training Series, please check out our website: www.TrampolineCoaching.com #TheRoeShow #GRTnetwork

Confused on who to vote for? Well Nnekay and James have a personalized way to help you get on the right side of history with our new campaign slogan and initiative that James thinks is kind of sexy’. In the age of Corona what will be the future of movie theaters be? And how come some directors and theaters can’t read the room on Corona? We have a HUGE coming attractions news roundup from a musical based on some historical Black, mathematician ladies, to Lovercraft Country on HBO, and a Black remake of a beloved 90s show. Nnekay blows James' mind with some pop culture facts. What makes good horror - good, as we are in a Black horror movie renaissance. James asks Nnekay about her experience of dealing with misogyny in the workplace on the heels of what AOC experienced from senator Yahoo/Yoho- whatever. And in other "fuck you" GOP news, apparently, slavery was a necessary evil, and they have a bill they're trying to pass to make sure we are taught no different. In the main event Nnekay takes us through a detailed recounting of the Rosewood Massacre in 1920, Florida, what led up to it, and how it mirrors what we see happening to Black people today.Sign up to dance with James, Pussycat Dolls React, Saturdays at 2pm PST on Zoom: https://forms.gle/T5v5fs2Cn9cVW96HAHOT TOPICS:THE WOMAN KING MOVIEHidden Figures MusicalBlack Teen Sentenced to Jail for Failing to Complete HomeworkSaving American History Act of 2020- Fuck you Senator Tom CottonRecord amount of Black Women running for CongressROSEWOOD MASSACRE:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosewood_massacrehttps://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/national/rosewood-reparations/https://www.history.com/topics/early-20th-century-us/rosewood-massacreCONTACT USTwitter: @minoritykornerEmail: minoritykorner@gmail.comIG: @minoritykornerJames Arthur M: TW: @JamesArthur_M, IG: @JamesArthurMNnekay FitzClrke: TW: @mizzfitzie, IG: @nnekay
