I Capuleti e i Montecchi".
Programledare: Thomas Nordegren Bisittare: Louise Epstein Producent: Amanda Rydman

Cut your rum drink with a little vodka and don't forget the lime (for health) and join me as I chat with Brooke Lea Foster about her fabulous new book ON GIN LANE. This is the second book Brooke has set amongst the fabulous and wealthy vacationers of the 1950's - and this glamorous, glitzy world, rife with struggles is a world I will cheerfully go back to. We discuss how the setting of the Hamptons is near and dear to her family, creating female characters that make the conflict resonate with readers and what happens when you get not one, but two new editors while writing a book. After her fiancé whisks her off to the glistening shores of Southampton in June of 1957, one young socialite begins to realize that her glamorous summer is giving her everything—except what she really wants—in this new novel from the author of Summer Darlings.Everleigh “Lee” Farrows thinks she finally has life all figured out: a handsome fiancé named Roland, a trust in her name, and a house in Bronxville waiting for her to fill it with three adorable children. That is, until Roland brings her out to the Hamptons for a summer that will change everything. Most women could only dream of the engagement present Roland unexpectedly bestows on Lee—a beachside hotel on the prized Gin Lane—but Lee's delight is clouded by unpleasant memories of another hotel, the Plaza, where she grew up in the shadow of her mother's mental illness. Shaking off flashbacks, Lee resolves to dive into an unforgettable summer with poolside Bellinis, daily tennis matches, luncheons with her Manhattan circle, and her beloved camera in tow. But when tragedy strikes on the hotel's opening weekend, the cracks in Lee's picture-perfect future slowly begin to reveal themselves, and Lee must look deep within herself to determine if the life she's always wanted will ever truly be enough. From the regal inns to the farmland, the well-heeled New Yorkers to the Bohemian artists, the East End of Long Island is a hodge-podge of the changing American landscape in the late 1950s—and the perfect place for Lee to discover who she really is.Grab it on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3MIYIFcOr my favorite Indie Bookstore - QUEEN BOOKS - https://bookmanager.com/queenbk/?searchtype=keyword&qs=on+gin+lane

Pearl Harbor Day Today we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. The attack commenced at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time (18:18 GMT) on December 7, 1941. The base was attacked by 353 Imperial Japanese aircraft (including fighters, level and dive bombers, and torpedo bombers) in two waves, launched from six aircraft carriers. Of the eight U.S. Navy battleships present, all were damaged, four were sunk. All but USS Arizona were later raised, and six were returned to service and went on to fight in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one minelayer. A total of 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded. This was one of the decisive events that led to America joining World War 2. Moscow Caroling Moscow Idaho dot news Members of Christ Church, a local evangelical congregation, gathered to sing Christmas carols on Friendship Square on Sunday, December 5th, singing about a dozen traditional carols followed by hot cocoa and cookies. This is a yearly tradition for the church, and gathered approximately 300 people. As they began singing, an individual residing in the second floor of the Moscow Hotel allegedly placed a noise machine speaker system in the window of an apartment in an attempt to drown out the Christmas carols. According to a witness at the scene who measured the sound with his smartphone, it topped 90 decibels. Meanwhile another individual on the steps of the Moscow Hotel yelled at the gathered families singing, and made disparaging gestures. Pastor Doug Wilson stood up after a song and said, “Two things – the first thing we should do is on three yell ‘Merry Christmas.'” The carolers shouted a robust “Merry Christmas” on three, directed at those at the Moscow Hotel attempting to drown out the singing. Wilson continued, “The second thing is let's move across the street around the fountain.” The carolers crossed the street and continued singing. After a short while the noise from the noise machine ceased, and singing continued unhindered until the end of the event. The individual responsible for the noise machine was issued a citation by Moscow Police for disturbing the peace, and an MPD officer stayed on the scene to ensure no more illegal disturbances would take place. As the carolers made their way across the street, one of the carolers, Jared Longshore, tells the camera, “Merry Christmas! We do love them up there.” Listen: 0:50-1:49 Ad: Classical Conversations DNB: Classical Conversations supports homeschooling parents by cultivating the love of learning through a Christian worldview in fellowship with other families. The diplomatic boycott means that U.S. athletes will still compete in the games, which will start in Beijing in February. The Chinese government responded with swift condemnation of President Joe Biden's decision -- saying the Olympics shouldn't be "a stage for political shows" and warning of "resolute countermeasures." But the Biden administration said it would not send senior U.S. government officials because of China's mass detention camps and forced sterilization campaign against Uighurs and other Muslim ethnic minorities in the country's western province -- policies that the U.S. government has determined constitute genocide and crimes against humanity. Biden has been under growing pressure domestically to take some kind of action against the Beijing games because of China's increasingly authoritarian policies at home and aggressive actions across the region. The decision to not send a delegation stops short of an outright boycott of the games, as U.S. athletes will be participating. "The athletes on Team USA have our full support. We will be behind them 100 percent, as we cheer them on from home," said White House press secretary Jen Psaki, but the administration didn't think "it was the right step to penalize athletes who have been training, preparing for this moment." Welcome Back to the FAB! They had to push the Luvvie episode to next week, but make way for this fresh off the audio book fakeness as Moni and Kat breakdown Eddie Huang's "Double Cup Love". Our slightly tipsy hosts dive into this travel memoir of the author's trip of a lifetime to his ancestral homeland, China. Eddie hilariously takes a whirlwind adventure through international travel, family, romance, music, and as always racism! The Food Network's David Rosengarten recently taste-tested mail-order barbecue ribs. He'll share his top picks and a recipe for the perfect side—Mustard Slaw. Remember that adage "tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are?" According to neurologist Alan Hirsch, M.D., Director of the Smell & Taste Treatment Research Foundation in Chicago and author of Dr. Hirsch's Guide to Scentsational Weight Loss, the notion might not be so far fetched. In his research on snack food, Dr. Hirsch discovered there are physiological reasons why our food preferences reveal our personality, so be discreet the next time you reach for a potato chip instead of a cheese curl.
