Interview with multi-talented actor, writer, and musician JOHN ROBERTS Hailing from Edison, NJ, John Roberts's deep-rooted love for music can be traced back to his youth. At the onset of the 90's he fell in love with the New York City rave scene and frequented the storied warehouse parties mythologized in movies like “Go.” He visited Other Music in the city's fashion-forward Village neighborhood on a weekly basis to buy new releases from Orbital, Moby, and more. Blondie tapped him to drop some lyrical fire on “Love Level” from their critically acclaimed 2017 chart-topper Pollinator. "Looking," a wild anthem produced by Big Black Delta, followed in 2019, marked his solo debut with remixes by Tensnake, Junior Sanchez, and Gerd Janson. The song—which landed at #19 on UK club charts--along with “Dirty Little Secrets” and “Lonely Boys Have Fun Too” appeared on his self-titled EP released last summer. Flashforward to 2020, Roberts entered the studio with longtime club friend Junior Sanchez for its follow-up. “Freaks” due out this fall is one of the many songs the two collaborated on which will be released in 2021. John is a cast member of the EMMY Award-winning “Bob's Burgers” as lovable & loud matriarch Linda Belcher which landed him the first EMMY nod in the category of “Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance” (2015). We had the pleasure of interviewing John Roberts over Zoom video! EMMY nominated TV star, LGBTQ icon, comedian and nu-disco electronic artist John Roberts, best known as the voice of the lovable Linda Belcher on the hit TV show Bob's Burgers, released his debut album, Lights Out (via X-Bop). Produced by Junior Sanchez, it features guest appearances from Debbie Harry, Beth Ditto and babydaddy (Scissor Sisters). John previously released two singles off Lights Out with accompanying music videos. Featuring Debbie Harry of Blondie, "Lights Out", also has a trippy animated video directed and animated by Kris Baldwin (Birds of Prey, Cartoon Networks DC Super Hero Girls) and secondly, the lead single "Freaks" with a video directed and choreographed by Nina McNeely (Rihanna, Bjork, Banks). John also released a "Freaks" (Remixes) album with tracks featuring Harry Romero, Tommie Sunshine & On Deck and Ant LaRock. The Harry Romero reached #1 on the Tech House Charts. About John Roberts: Hailing from Edison, NJ, John Roberts' deep-rooted love for music can be traced back to his youth. At the onset of the 90's he fell in love with the New York City rave scene and frequented the storied warehouse parties mythologized in movies like “Go.” He visited Other Music in the city's fashion forward Village neighborhood on a weekly basis to buy new releases from Orbital, Moby and more.Going from music lover to being in a band was a no-brainer and Roberts found himself the front-man for Opti-Grab. The group released one album and toured relentlessly. Bringing things full circle, former tour-mates Blondie tapped him to drop some lyrical fire on “Love Level” from their critically acclaimed 2017 chart-topper Pollinator. "Looking," a wild anthem produced by Big Black Delta, followed in 2019, marked his solo debut with remixes by Tensnake, Junior Sanchez and Gerd Janson. “Freaks”—out now—is one of the many songs the two collaborated which appear on Roberts' Lights Out album. On the acting front, John Roberts has gone from viral YouTube clips like “The Christmas Tree,” “My Son is Gay” and “Jackie & Debra” (generating more than 40 million views) to appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “Archer” and more in addition to multiple tours alongside Margaret Cho. He went on to join the cast of the EMMY Award-winning “Bob's Burgers” as lovable & loud matriarch Linda Belcher which landed him first EMMY nod in the category of “Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance” (2015). Well it may be World War III thanks that d-bag in the White House, but we are determined to make 2020 the QUEEREST year of all even if we all go down in flames! We hear about Jonah's gaycation to Nicaragua and Columbia, discuss the royal lesbian wedding (#Krashlyn #KriegerGotaKeeper), the latest L Word Generation Q lesbo drama, and other queertertainment news. We then hear a little about one of Renessa's former lives with singing! But on to the TRULY exciting part of this episode: Our guest interview this week is with the beautiful, skilled, and just generally super dope musician, producer, and DJ, Camila Grey. Jonah was out of the office for this one, but Renessa was so lucky to get Camila on the phone in between her touring commitments with Adam Lambert! We talk about her background in music—from attending Berklee College of Music, to working a stint in the music biz before she started focusing on playing, recording, and performing, her time with Leisha Hailey and their band Uh Huh Her, to where she is today (having worked with artists like Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Big Black Delta, Tricky, Linda Perry, Kanye West, Hans Zimmer, and Wendy Melvoin), and a solo project in the works (BREAKING NEWS!). And we talk about coming out to religious parents, queer representation in music today, and staying curious and eager to learn new things to hone your craft. Keep an eye out for Adam Lambert's upcoming Feel Something Foundation, which Camila will be serving on the board of! We'll post an update to social when that goes live : ) ****INTERVIEW STARTS AT 32:30****Check out the YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqYRgM2MLP4Show Links:Follow Camila on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/camgrey/?hl=enInterview song: “It’s Chemical” by Uh Huh Her. Dave Elitch first garnered attention with his band Daughters of Mara’s debut album “I am Destroyer” in 2007, but his time touring with the American progressive rock band The Mars Volta in 2009-2010 is what really put him on the map. He has since worked with Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, M83, The 1975, Juliette Lewis, Big Black Delta, as well as many others. He is a regular in the LA session scene, including performing on various records, syncs and film scores for major motion pictures, (most recently “Trolls” and “Logan.”) In addition to playing, he also conducts master-class lectures worldwide and keeps a busy private teaching practice in Los Angeles where he has developed a reputation as THE technique/body mechanic specialist who has helped many of the industries top players as well as educators. “Ever since I decided that I was going to be a drummer, I wanted to be the best I could possibly be, and I put all my faculties toward that. Eventually that can take a toll, so I kind of hit a wall and needed a break. I’ve always had an appreciation for art, and luckily where I live in LA there are all these rad galleries – the Getty, the Hammer, Thinkspace, C.A.V.E., Giant Robot – so I frequent those. I get a different vantage point on the creative experience. I started getting inspired by documentaries about artists, like The Radiant Child about Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rivers and Tides about Andy Goldsworthy, the Gerhard Richter documentary Painting, Francis Bacon movies on YouTube… It’s just such a fascinating take on making sense of the world around you. Plus, I’ve dedicated my life to knowing all there is to know about drums, and I’m expected to know everything, With art, I can just go from my gut, so there’s a huge sense of freedom and escape for me there.” – Dave Elitch Topics Discussed In This Episode: The pitfalls of formalized education The realities of being a musician Over exposure of art through technology Distractions of social media How Dave became a professional drummer Andy Goldsworthy “Rivers and Tides” Drawing similarities and differences between his approach to music and his approach to art The compulsion for knowledge and exploring Understanding the veil of perception Creative adaptability Spirituality in art Breaking free of systematic thinking Branding within the art world The ripple effect of art and commerce interacting with each other www.artistdecoded.com

Questions arise when he admits that he had a good time watching Linkin Park perform at Comic . How good is Comic Con? We find a lot about first time guest Desmond and his fascination with dead animals. The two Rob's have nothing new to report. They discuss The Last of Us Remastered, guess who is not behind this game? Handsome tried to explain two new games he is playing, Gods Will be Watching and Darkwood. They still can't it out. Desmond is playing Shovel Knight and says it's "rad" and Battlefront 2 and says it "blows." Angry Rob went down the Dota 2 wormhole and might not ever come out. In the news they talk about Cryteks new business model, if we need another Walking Dead Game, a minimum of 60% of the people who shop at Game Stop aren't smart. A website leak says Sony is going to announce new games for PS4 that have already been out for PS3. GOG.com messes up but their fans pay anyway. Battlefield Hardline gets delayed and they could not be happier. Angry Rob figures he should get approximately $400k for the PSN outage. And finally EA announced EA Access.
