The Last Word On Spurs panel return as two second-half goals for Newcastle United consigned us to defeat in our first home game of the new Premier League season on Saturday evening. Despite the feelgood factor of a Spurs debut for new signing Omar Marmoush and an impressive first-half performance in which we created plenty of chances but couldn't convert them into goals, the visitors struck twice in 10 minutes through Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa to make it back-to-back losses for us to open the league campaign. That made it four wins on their last five visits to N17 for Newcastle and also ensured this fixture still hasn't seen a goalless draw in the 63 times it has been played in the Premier League. We discuss what has contributed to Spurs' poor start to the season and why the Club continue to look so under-prepared in comparison to our Premier League rivals. We debate whether a genuine number nine or a number 10 is what would help us as we go into the final days of the window, with Cody Gakpo choosing to go to Manchester City, are Spurs in a position to pivot to other options with suggestions that Everton's Iliman Ndiaye is a prime target to complete their summer squad overhaul, with possibly heading back to Everton. We reflect on what the transfer-deadline day could bring us, with De Roberto Zerbi confirming Richarlison, Pape Sarr and Kevin Danso all requesting to leave the Club before the deadline. It's also understood that Archie Gray is attracting late interest from Brentford as the transfer window nears it's final conclusion. Tottenham Hotspur have officially entered the race for Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, with Spurs viewing the Senegal international as a potential alternative to Cody Gakpo — but with Manchester City also circling both players, the transfer battle is heating up! Could Ndiaye's arrival signal the end of Richarlison's Spurs career, with the Brazilian potentially heading back to Everton in the opposite direction? Where does that leave Gakpo, with Tottenham's pursuit of the Liverpool forward still ongoing? We also discuss the latest expected departures, with Pape Matar Sarr and Jamie Donley among those who are expected to leave before the deadline, while late offers for Lucas Bergvall could yet arrive. What about Victor Osimhen? Spurs have been warned that any last-gasp move for the Galatasaray striker could cost in excess of £150M. Finally, we turn our attention to the Premier League and Newcastle United, previewing the clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs look to secure three precious points and kick-start their league campaign. The Nazca Mummies may be real, but not extraterrestrial. Steve Aspin and Dr. Andreas Lück challenge decades of UFO assumptions, arguing the mysterious Peruvian bodies could be terrestrial biological organisms and that so-called alien-human hybrids may actually be genetically engineered humans. A provocative, science-driven journey into one of ufology's greatest mysteries. GUEST: Steve Aspin spent more than 35 years working in surgery and medical diagnostics before turning his investigative skills toward the UFO and abduction mystery. Author of Out of Time and co-author of Investigating the Impossible, Aspin explores the possibility that the phenomenon may involve genetics, family bloodlines, and realities far stranger than extraterrestrial visitation. GUEST: Dr. Andreas Lück is a molecular biologist, geneticist, and former Professor of Medical Biochemistry, Genetics and Cell Biology. With research experience at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women's Hospital, he brings rigorous scientific analysis to some of the most controversial questions in ufology, applying genetics, DNA analysis, and cellular biology to the impossible. The Egypt international joins former City teammate Savio in north London, following the Brazilian's £75,M move to Tottenham earlier in the week, as Spurs' summer spending rockets beyond £312M. In the latest episode of Last Word Of Spurs, we discuss Marmoush's arrival and what he brings to the Tottenham attack, while assessing an extraordinary summer of transfer activity that has also seen Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka arrive at the club. But with the transfer deadline fast approaching, the work isn't finished yet. We look at the remaining business Spurs are attempting to complete, the positions still requiring attention and, most importantly, the club's growing focus on Cody Gakpo as the Club still look to navigate a number of exits for players who are not seen as part of De Zerbi's long-term plans. With more than £300m already spent, can Tottenham Hotspur finish the window with one more statement signing, all that and so much more, in this latest episode of Last Word On Spurs. It's Friday, August 28th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Christian farmers are being targeted by Fulani Muslims For many Christian farmers in the Plateau State of Nigeria, traveling to their own farms has become dangerous, reports International Christian Concern. Some have stopped going altogether. Others now move in groups, hoping that numbers will offer some protection. But for families who depend on agriculture for survival, abandoning their land is not an easy choice. The fear has grown following a series of attacks by armed men suspected to be Fulani Muslim militias which have targeted farmers traveling to and from their fields. On July 30, according to Christian leader Joseph Yonkpa, 60-year-old Christian farmer Bulus Turu was “attacked and macheted while returning from his farm.” At least 27 people have been killed in ambushes, many of whom were Christian farmers traveling to their farms. Yohana Boh, a community leader, said, “We received early warning, but the Nigerian Army ignored it. We can't sleep. We can't farm. We're calling for help.” Send a polite, 4-sentence note to Lateef Kayode, the Nigerian Ambassador to America, asking him to urge his government to protect the Christian farmers there. Address your letter to the Nigerian Embassy, 3519 International Court, NW, Washington, DC 20008. You can find that address, and the spelling of the Nigerian Ambassador's name, in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Flash flood in Nepal killed 360 The deadly flash flood in Nepal on August 26th has killed 360 people and left 1,400 missing including 90 Americans, reports Weather.com. The flood was likely caused by a huge chunk of a glacier that broke off and temporarily dammed a river. That may have led to the backed-up water surging downstream with enormous force a few hours later. In fact, water levels in rivers across the flood-affected region rose by as much as 29.5 feet in 30 minutes. The U.S. State Department said it is not aware of any U.S. deaths, but three Americans have been rescued. Hundreds have lost their homes across the Himalayan region, and officials reported large-scale damage to critical infrastructure, including hydropower dams, roads, buildings and bridges in the region. US Patriot missile stocks in Europe are ‘beyond critical' due to Iran war An unnamed U.S. defense official in Europe and an unnamed NATO official told the Associated Press that the U.S. military is experiencing a “beyond critical” shortage of advanced missile interceptors in Europe largely driven by President Donald Trump's war with Iran. This raises concerns about vulnerabilities in NATO countries to a potential Russian attack. The U.S. defense official said the most concerning shortfall involves Patriot missile interceptors, which can shoot down Russia's high-speed ballistic missiles. The NATO official confirmed the low inventories of Patriots among American and NATO forces in Europe. President Trump renames Lake Ontario to Lake America On August 27th, President Donald Trump said he is renaming Lake Ontario to be known as “Lake America” in the United States as he escalates his trade war with Canada, reports the Associated Press. The president signed an executive order directing the Interior Department to update the lake's name in the U.S. geographic naming service. Girl Scouts promotes Islam The Girl Scouts organization in America already has plunged neck-deep into transgenderism and abortion, with ideologies that support such leftist agendas. Now, the group is jumping into Islam, reports WorldNetDaily.com. An online report confirmed the Girls Scouts are offering "badges" that are earned by little girls when they visit mosques and learn the "Pillars of Islam." Not surprisingly, social media commenters were outraged. Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk, tweeted, “Nothing says Girl Scouts of AMERICA like learning the pillars of Islam.” And another wrote, “Never buy Girl Scout cookies again.” According to a new investigation by Natalie Winters, the White House correspondent for Steve Bannon's War Room, she documented that, "Girl Scout troops across the U.S. are incorporating Islamic religious instruction, prayer and activities, [like wearing the hijab head covering and participating in the Ramadan fast] into scouting programs.” Winters reported, "Girl Scouts Heart of Central California knew about the Sacramento Area League of Associated Muslims' religious integration years earlier. The council's 2009 annual report said that four troops with 30 girls began … [incorporating] Girl Scouting into the mosque's youth programming. It highlighted a Ramadan sleepover involving fasting and girls 'praying through the night.'" The examples appear to involve individual troops and local councils rather than a nationwide requirement imposed on all Girl Scouts. However, there is a "nationwide pattern of Girl Scout troops based at mosques incorporating Islamic prayer, Quranic instruction, and lessons on hijab into activities conducted under the Girl Scouts banner." In Exodus 20:3, God said, “You shall have no other gods before Me.” And, to be sure, Allah, the Islamic god, is not the one true God. Mom banned from school after protesting push of sexual perversion And finally, an Oregon mother is suing Portland Public Schools for banning her from her children's elementary school for protesting its promotion of homosexual transgender “pride,” reports LifeSiteNews.com. The Oregonian reports that Allison Roberts, who has two children at Meriwether Lewis Elementary School, took issue with benches painted with “Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride” rainbow designs. She also objected to an assignment in which one of her kids was tasked with filling out an “identity flower” exercise including gender. After a meeting with school officials to discuss her concerns, she began distributing letters about the situation outside the school, leading to a “heated exchange” with one parent. That led to a one-year trespass order keeping her off the grounds ostensibly for “threatening and intimidating members of the school community” with “harmful, unlawful and/or disruptive behavior.” As a result, Roberts was forced to miss one of her children's graduations from elementary school. Now, she is suing to reverse the trespass order and secure her rights to engage in free speech about her children's education. Mrs. Roberts should prayerfully consider pulling her children out of the pro-perversion government schools and homeschool them instead. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Thousands of languages are used around the world today, and this linguistic diversity is a precious part of our human heritage. But it's also more than that. Linguistic diversity provides clues—a vast crazy quilt of clues—about how language works, about how history has unfolded, about the dynamics of culture, and about the nature of the human mind. My guest today is Dr. Damián Blasi. Damián is an ICREA Research Professor based at the Center for Brain & Cognition at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Over the last decade or so, Damián's emerged as one of the most innovative researchers in the study of language and linguistic diversity. He's been widely recognized for this work, and most recently was awarded the 2026 FABSS Early Career Impact Award from the Cognitive Science Society. In this conversation, Damián and talk about why scientists should care about linguistic diversity. We do a bit of linguistic diversity 101—how many languages there are, how we can enumerate them, how they vary from another. We discuss a recent paper in which Damian and his colleagues reconstructed the explosive rise and precipitous fall of human linguistic diversity over the last 12,000 years. We talk about the factors that drive language change. And we discuss how cognitive science relies too much on English and English speakers—and how this may be holding the field back. Along the way, Damián and I touch on the Tower of Babel, a golden age of linguistic diversity, the human bite configuration, scientific aesthetics, whether children shape language, polygenetic theories of language evolution, the pace of language change, schooling, linguistic inequality and behemoth languages, and why Damián thinks that possibility space of human language might be bigger and wilder than we currently imagine. This is a special episode of the Many Minds podcast. As I mentioned, Damián is this year's winner of an award from the Cognitive Science Society, in recognition of his outstanding early-year contributions to the field. He recently gave a keynote at the society's annual conference in Rio de Janeiro, and we've partnered with the Cognitive Science Society to feature this conversation about his work. I'll also mention that this wasn't my first time chatting with Damián—he's an alumnus of the Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute (DISI), the sponsor & incubator of this podcast. We met there a couple years ago, and so it was all the more fun to reconnect with him here. Alright friends, without further ado, on to my conversation with Dr. Damián Blasi. Enjoy! Israel was now under the rule of the Roman Empire. During this time a priest named Zechariah was on duty to burn incense in the Temple when an angel of God appeared to him. The angel told him that he and his wife Elizabeth would have a son! And that this son would be the messenger to proclaim the coming of the Lord. Meanwhile, Mary, the cousin of Elizabeth, also received a word from the angel Gabriel that she would bear a son, but her's would be different, her son would be from God and would be the people's Messiah.Hear the Bible come to life as Pastor Jack Graham leads you through the official BibleinaYear.com podcast. Even before the Brazilian international's wonderful goal just 11 minutes after coming off the bench, we'd seen Mikey Moore score with a thunderous strike, Dominic Solanke open his account for the season, Kevin Danso net his first goal for us with his first touch as a substitute, Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro make their first appearances of the season in the second half to get important minutes in their legs and youngster Luca Williams-Barnett getting some game time late on. Some night! We also had a Ben Davies goal in the closing minutes, although that was so nearly another Savio strike as it was his goalbound effort that hit the Welsh defender on the way in! Charlton – who made 10 changes from their team that won at West Ham United on Saturday – netted a late consolation through Lloyd Jones. After securing our place in the third round, we will now face the Liverpool at Anfield in the week commencing 14 September. It's Thursday, August 27th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Haitian gang members killed 50 people in church Gang members attacked a church in Haiti on Sunday, killing nearly 50 people. Displaced people were sheltering in the building of Church of the Ark of the New Covenant. The evangelical church is located near Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. Up to 90 percent of the area is controlled by gangs. The gang members killed 47 people and injured another 22 people. Please pray for Christians in Haiti who face much of the widespread gang violence in the country. In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Germany first country to display Muslim prayer times on official signs Evangelical Focus reports a German town became the first in the country to display Muslim prayer times on its official signs. The municipality of Penzberg previously listed Sunday service times for the Catholic and Lutheran parishes in town. Signage now includes prayer times for the local mosque established in 1990. Muslims with a migrant background make up about eight percent of Germany's population, up from five percent in 2016. New U.S. economic sanctions against Iran The Trump administration announced aggressive economic sanctions against Iran on Monday. Operation Economic Outcast aims to cut Iran's financial connections with the rest of the world. The sanctions will also affect any country doing business with the regime. Listen to comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. BESSENT: “We want to make clear here today that no one is above the reach of U.S. sanctions. That if they facilitate transactions and are part of the ecosystem that turns Iranian oil into money, into repression, they will be targeted.” Facebook/Instagram pay $18 billion over addictive algorithms for kids Meta Platforms agreed to pay up to $18 billion over the next decade in a settlement announced yesterday. Nearly every U.S. state accused the social media company of designing its platforms to be addictive to children. The tech giant is being held accountable for the role its platforms played in undermining children's mental health. These platforms include Facebook and Instagram. California will get the largest sum of $1.5 billion, but several other states will still collect hundreds of millions of dollars each over the decade. The money will be used to pay for legal fees, mental health care for children, after-school programs, and education about the risks of social media use. According to the Associated Press, Meta will eliminate push notifications during weekday school hours and bring in “robust” age-assurance measures and “age-appropriate” content controls to prevent bullying and harmful material about eating disorders and self-harm. The case also argued that Meta violated federal laws by routinely collecting data on children under 13 without their parents' consent. As part of the settlement, Meta agreed to limit teenagers' use of Instagram and Facebook to a couple of hours a day. 1,235 assisted suicide deaths in California last year The state of California reported 1,235 assisted suicide deaths last year. The death toll is up nearly 150 percent over the past five years. The California End of Life Option Act allows adults, expected to live six months or less, to obtain life-ending drugs. The state has authorized the deaths of at least 6,758 people since the law went into effect in 2016. 3 California homeschoolers sue over prohibition from participation Three homeschool families petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court last week after California excluded them from a state program. Some of California's tuition-free charter schools allow homeschool academy programs. However, families cannot use state funds from these charter schools for religious curriculum. In one case, the state rejected a grammar exercise simply because it used the sentence: “God sends the rain to help plants grow.” Acts 14:17 says God “did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from Heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” Protestant churches are multigenerational Most Protestant churches report being multigenerational. A survey from Lifeway Research found 91 percent of churchgoers agree their church has a good number of active members from all generations. Seventy-eight percent of pastors also agree. Being multigenerational was more frequently reported by pastors of larger churches, younger pastors, and evangelical pastors. Dolly Parton, who died at 80, championed a false gospel And finally, PARTON: “Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin'” Dolly Parton, the country singer, actress, and businesswoman, died peacefully at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday. She was 80 years old. Known as the Queen of Country, the singer-songwriter is among one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She wrote and sang this song in 1974 which Whitney Houston would later famously cover. PARTON: “And I will always love you I will always love you.” Parton grew up in a Pentecostal church and described herself as a person of faith. PARTON: “My grandpa was a preacher. So, my grandpa pastored this little church called the House of Prayer. He was a very positive, uplifting person. And I learned to love Jesus, and learned that Jesus loved me when I was a little bitty kid. “And all those things that Mama used to say, you know, that through God all things are possible. I kept all those things kind of tucked away into my subconscious mind and in my heart. And those are the things that have helped me through the years. I never do anything that I don't pray about it, and I always ask God to lead me and to show me and direct me into what I'm doing.” She was married to her husband Carl Thomas Dean for nearly 60 years until his death in 2025. As a philanthropist, Parton supported children's literacy and medical research. Sadly, she was also known as an advocate for unbiblical causes like homosexual behavior and faux homosexual marriage. Appearing with Larry King, she defended homosexuality. KING: “Didn't you recently, though, throw support to the [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender] community?” PARTON: “Oh, I've always encouraged, not encouraged. They've made me the poster child I think only because I'm so outspoken as far as just being accepting of people in general. “I do not believe that we should criticize and judge other people. I think we should be accepting and loving. We are all God's children. We are who we are, and we should allow, be allowed to be who we are.” Kate Newman, a Christian YouTuber, objected to Parton's bad theology, referencing John 1:12. NEWMAN: “We are not all children of God, contrary to popular belief. We receive the Spirit of adoption from God when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we are led by His Holy Spirit. But until then, we're actually all children of the devil.” Larry King asked Dolly Parton this follow-up question. KING: “Did any of the faith-based communities that deeply believe the other way take umbrage with you?” PARTON: “Oh, absolutely. KING: “They did?” PARTON: “Oh, yes. I get it all the time. I keep saying, ‘Well, if you're the fine Christian that you think you are, why are you judging people? That's God's job. We're not God. We're not judges.' You know, we're supposed to love one another. We're supposed to not judge. “If you're gay, you're gay. If you're straight, you're straight. And you should be allowed to be, you know, how how you are and who you are.” In 2024, Ericka Andersen wrote a column for The Federalist entitled “There's nothing loving about Dolly Parton's false gospel.” She argued that, “Parton's version of love, which includes condoning immoral sexual behavior is unaligned with God's vision for humanity. Like so many secularized spiritual leaders, Parton equates love with agreement, but the two are not reciprocal. Love doesn't mean we must accept sinfulness as good to avoid hurting someone's feelings. “To be sure, the culture is on a constant witch hunt for those who would call homosexuality sinful. I understand wanting to avoid the avalanche of criticism, but calling sin out by name isn't judgment. It's adhering to Scripture. “She's right that all should be treated with love and kindness, but when we refuse to label sin a sin, we're doing more harm than good. The gospel of Dolly Parton is popular with the masses, but don't bank your eternity on it.” Leviticus 18:22 says, “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, August 27th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Novelist Aruni Kashyap joins co-hosts V.V. Ganeshananthan and Jennifer Maritza McCauley to talk about the surprising surge of a new youth movement in India. Kashyap, the author of a new novel, How to Date a Fanatic, about young queer academics navigating the Indian campus protests of the mid-2010s, explains how the Chief Justice of India likening unemployed youth to “cockroaches and parasites” has prompted the rise of a wildly popular satirical group. He shares the history of the Cockroach Janta Party or Cockroach People's Party, whose followers now number in the millions and whose political demands have become well known. Kashyap discusses those demands and the historical significance of campus politics in India, considers how a satirical organization is pushing real reform, and recalls his own experiences with campus protests in India, where he grew up and previously taught. Kashyap reflects on writing about political violence, love, and queer life in India. He reads from How to Date a Fanatic. To hear the full episode, subscribe through iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app (include the forward slashes when searching). New manager, north of £200M spent this summer, and we were second best in every single area of that pitch. 3.96 xG to 0.47. Nobody is talking us into a good week. So here is how this works. Every Tuesday, Jonny from An Echo of Glory, Ben from We Are Tottenham TV and Billie from Last Word on Spurs each bring one hot take about Tottenham. One each. None of them has heard the other two before the cameras roll. Then they argue about it. This week all three have come out of the Brentford defeat, and none of them are the take you think they are going to be. One of them goes after a decision most fans have already accepted without questioning it. One of them says the damage was done weeks before a ball was kicked. And one of them is going to start a row in the comments, which is exactly the point. Everything else is on the table too. The two goals Kinsky will want back. Archie Gray captaining the side, the youngest to do it since Steve Perryman. Tonali skying one from 18 yards. Savinho agreed at £85m, Marmoush in the post, and whether any of it fixes what we watched on Saturday. Charlton in the cup, then Newcastle at home. It cannot look like that again. Tell us who won the argument in the comments. And bring your own hot take, the best ones get read out next week. Collectively COYS is the weekly Spurs show from An Echo of Glory, Last Word on Spurs and We Are Tottenham TV. Three channels, three takes, one panel, no agenda beyond arguing about our football club. For nearly three decades, Jerry Haas has been the steady hand behind one of the most consistent programs in college golf. Since taking over at Wake Forest in 1997, Haas has guided the Demon Deacons to a nation-leading 48 NCAA Championship appearances, more than 40 tournament victories, and a 2022 ACC Championship — building a program that has become a fixture on the national stage. But before he was building a dynasty on the sideline, Jerry Haas was building his own game inside one of golf's most storied families. A two-time Illinois Amateur champion, All-American at Wake Forest, and PGA Tour winner, Haas comes from a lineage that includes his brother Jay — an 18-time PGA Tour winner — and his nephew Bill Haas, a FedEx Cup champion who also happened to play for him at Wake Forest. In this episode, Jerry opens up about what it was like growing up around that kind of golf pedigree, the moment he decided to trade the Tour for the sideline, and how he's kept Wake Forest golf relevant through three decades of change — from scholarship rules to NIL to the transfer portal. We talk about what he actually looks for in a recruit beyond a swing or a scoring average and the stories — not the headlines — that he says tell you everything about what this game teaches young people. A gay, married couple journeyed to Montreal to enjoy the services of a tantric masseur. And they REALLY enjoyed him. But did this open Pandora's box? How can they continue to have earth-shattering, mind-blowing sex when it's back to the hum-drum two of them? A caller wonders if folks who enjoy adult baby play actually... well, actually shit themselves. The answer comes from Dan's guest, Fancy of the InTheNook podcast. The show champions "nuance, kink-positive education, and unfiltered queer realness" for those into ABDL. They have a great conversation about what fuels this maligned kink. On the Magnum, Dan chats with Atlantic writer Faith Hill, who covers dating, young adulthood, family, and social connection. Her latest piece, "The Great Romance Slump" digs in to why young people are forgoing sex and dating. She and Dan discuss the changes that have left us in this dismal place. They also discuss age gap relationships and the various other "gaps" that our culture eyes with suspicion. And, what makes a sexy foot? Are some feet sexier than others? Why? Dan answers. 206-302-2064 Q@Savage.Love This episode is brought to you by Squarespace. They make it easy to build a website or blog.
