Tom Clarkson is joined in the Jeddah paddock by nine-time Le Mans winner, Tom Kristensen, and two-time Le Mans podium finisher and F1TV analyst, Alex Brundle, to dissect the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri now leads the World Championship by 10 points after securing his third victory of the season. How has ‘confidence' made him faster? And will his mindset change now he's the one with a target on his back? Lando Norris joins the pod after recovering from his crash in qualifying to climb from P10 to P4. He reveals what he did differently before the race to relax and why he puts so much pressure on himself to perform, while McLaren CEO Zak Brown explains why their rivals may not be as far behind as the Constructor Standings lead us to believe. Plus, after Max Verstappen's sensational pole lap and P2 finish, are we seeing signs of a Red Bull recovery? Is Max Verstappen still capable of winning a fifth title in a row? And should Red Bull focus all their energy on improving their 2025 car rather than 2026? Also on the agenda: how did Charles Leclerc secure Ferrari's first Grand Prix podium of the season? Where does the data suggest Lewis Hamilton is struggling with the car? Why were Mercedes slower in the race than in qualifying? ¡vamos a divertirnos!

Tesla Electric is expanding into the UK market to supply electricity to households with Tesla products. The plan involves storing cheap electricity and selling it back to the grid at higher prices, aiding the transition to 100% renewable energy. Luxury EV maker Lucid Group delivered fewer Air sedans than Wall Street estimates for Q2, amid concerns about demand. Despite having a backlog of reservations, Lucid only plans to produce 10,000 to 14,000 Airs in 2023. In June 2023, electric vehicles (EVs) made up a record 26.9% market share in France, up from 19.8% the previous year. The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) for the month. Audi's Hoonitron, an all-electric Quattro tribute, will be driven by nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen at the 2023 Festival of Speed. The car's power outperforms any of the Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) cars Kristensen has raced. Ford is set to unveil a high-performance electric Mustang Mach-E at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. A teaser suggests an off-road adventure edition, complementing Ford's ongoing work on a high-performance electric F-150 Lightning pickup. Dacia plans to reinvent its fourth-generation Sandero as an affordable electric supermini by 2027 or 2028. The company is investigating cheaper battery chemistries to maintain affordability. Fiat UK experienced a surge in inquiries about the electric Fiat 500 following the introduction of a £3000 E-Grant to encourage EV adoption. The grant was launched after the UK government withdrew similar incentives a year ago. China's New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) sales increased by 44.1% year-on-year in H1 2023, reaching nearly 3.75 million units. NEV exports also grew, with a 160% year-on-year expansion. Volkswagen (VW) is experiencing decreased demand for their electric models in Europe, with production reportedly decreasing at their Emden plant. VW produced 97,000 units from January to May but sold only 73,000. Electric car sales in Germany for Volkswagen are below targets, with some battery-electric models seeing demand drop to zero. Subsidy cuts, high inflation, and competition from other manufacturers are contributing factors. The European Parliament has approved legislation to expand EV charging and hydrogen infrastructure across the EU. By 2026, charging stations for electric cars should be available every 60 kilometers along main routes. EU member states have approved comprehensive battery market regulation, promoting a circular economy for all types of batteries. The regulation requires mandatory declarations and labels related to battery components and recycled content. A study shows a 29.5% drop in used Electric Vehicle (EV) prices following months of rising prices. Factors contributing to the price drop include Tesla's aggressive pricing cuts and a rise in supply. Amazon has introduced more than 3,000 custom electric delivery vans across the U.S., aiming to have 100,000 such vehicles on the road by 2030. Amazon plans to invest over 1 billion euros over the next five years to decarbonize and electrify its European transportation network. Several electric vehicles now support 800-volt DC fast-charging for rapid charging with lighter, thinner cables. Among the manufacturers offering this technology are Audi, Porsche, GMC, Hyundai, and Kia, while Tesla's upcoming V4 Supercharging will offer 1,000-volt capability.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has a diverse annual motorsports calendar. It began this year in April with the Trans Am Superfest and continues through mid-October with the Velocity Invitational. Next month is the busiest time of the year with the iconic facility heavy into the mix of Monterey Auto Week. Barry Toepke, Director of Heritage Events & Public Relations at WeatherTech Raceway, is our guest this week on The Weekly Driver Podcast. A guest three times previously, Toepke shares with co-host Bruce Aldrich in Episode #233 the upcoming schedule, notably the Monterey Pre-Reunion (Aug. 13-14) and Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (Aug. 17-20). The annual Reunion, according to raceway officials, is a "museum revving to life with hundreds of historic and period-correct race and sports cars from nearly every era." WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is approaching its busiest of the season, Monterey Auto Week. Besides the usual collections of vintage racing, the venue this year is the official start of a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Barry Toepke, Director of Heritage Events & Public Relations at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Cultivated from private collections or museums and no longer driven in competition, more the 50 vehicles with pedigrees as overall winners or first in class at LeMans will be highlighted in a heritage legends building. The cars' histories will also be detailed in video, historic images and storyboards. The first Porsche (1970) and the last Ferrari (1965) to win the overall title will be included in the historic display. "It will arguably be the largest collection of authentic Le Mans-winning cars ever in one place in America," said Toepke. "We'll be the kickoff launch event for a year-long celebration. It's quite an honor and we don't take it lightly." Representatives of the race held yearly in June on the Circuit de la Sarthe have been invited to the festivities. Motorsports Reunion officials recently announced Tom Kristensen of Denmark, the record-holding, nine-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will serve as Grand Marshal and will autograph sessions. The previous week at WeatherTech Raceway more than 300 historic race cars, most competing days later in the Reunion, will get valuable track time in a more relaxed and less-crowded environment. The field is comprised of carefully selected entries by our selection committee. Bruce and James also discuss with Toepke the upcoming Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey (Sept. 9-11) as well as the selection of Bill Warner as Chief Steward, a newly created position. Hello again Racing Ears, Here is another great episode of The Racing Ear Podcast. For this episode Trent, Jeff, and Rick got to chat with Brad Kettler formerly of Audi Sport and of Champion Racing. Originally from Lafayette Indiana, Mr. Kettler was kind enough to come on and share how his passion for racing grew from being conveniently close to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the month of May during the 1970's. He also shares insight as to what the movie "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen meant to him and how the movie inspired him. Mr. Kettler also brings to light several insights of what it means to be a racing engineer and a racing manager, before and after the 24 Hours Of Le Mans. Mr. Kettler was involved in 6 overall victories with Audi at the 24 Hours Of Le Mans. Brad Kettler was the team manager in 2005 when Champion Racing won the 24 Hours of Le Mans overall, giving Tom Kristensen his 7th overall victory. Thank you so much for listening to this episode of The Racing Ear Podcast. Many thanks to Jeff Oldham and Rick Knoop for arranging and adding insight for this episode. Be sure to check out Part 2 of our chat with Brad Kettler coming very soon on The Racing Ear Podcast. #theracingearpodcast#rickknoopracing#jeffoldhambrad.kettlerkmw_sport

Over the summer we caught up via conference platform with Audi Sport and Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen for a chat about his biography "Mr. Le Mans". The book is as much about the man as it is about racing, which led to a conversation about documentaries like "Truth in 24" and the "F1 Drive to Survive" series by Netflix. We also got Tom's take on Le Mans 2023 and Audi's return. "Mr. Le Mans" is published by Euro Publishing. It can be found here and possibly with autographed copies ( https://www.evropublishing.com/products/mr-le-mans-tom-kristensen) and can also be found on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Mans-Tom-Kristensen/dp/8797260304).

The Beatles, The Beach Boys.

John Nielsen er optaget i motorsportens hall of fame 2019. Om Motorsportens Hall of Fame DASU introducerer nu Motorsportens Hall of Fame.

Husk at købe Tipsbladet hver fredag.

9. On Saturday October 8, Motor Sport hosted a readers’ evening in association with Audi UK at the Audi quattro rooms in West London. Star guests included Le Mans winners Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Audi factory team engineers Howden ‘H’ Haynes and Leena Gade. The documentary Truth in 24 – that everyone watched at the start of the evening – follows the factory Audi team as they fight through the gruelling race in the knowledge that their car is technically slower that its rival from Peugeot. In one of the most nail-biting Le Mans in recent history, the Audi team works together to overcome its rivals, and it is engineer Howden’s inspired tyre-change decision 23 and half hours into the race that helps the number two car to victory. After watching the film editor Damien Smith sat down with all four as well as editor-in-chief Nigel Roebuck. Here is the recording of the discussion... This podcast is a little bit special. On September 16 we took over a small corner of the Drivers' Mess at the Goodwood Revival and interviewed anyone who was passing. It just so happened that Eddie Cheever, Arturo Merzario, Martin Brundle, Sir Stirling Moss, Nick Mason, Rauno Aaltonen, Gerhard Berger, Sir Jackie Stewart, Tom Kristensen, Andy Priaulx and Emanuele Pirro passed by when we were there. As you can imagine, it was an action-packed hour and 20 minutes spent discussing everything from the new BMW DTM machine to why Sir JYS rolled a car, via what Sir Stirling thinks of some of the 'newer' cars at the Revival and why Pirro ended up sending a £5000 cheque to Goodwood. We hope you enjoy it and, as always, let us know what you think about any of the subjects we discuss. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We know you've been waiting longer than usual for the next audio podcast, but I think you'll agree this one's worth waiting for. We gathered in the Drivers Mess at the Goodwood Revival and chatted to Stirling Moss, Bobby Rahal, Martin Brundle, Tom Kristensen, Richard Attwood, Jochen Mass, Emanuele Pirro, Christian Horner and Adrian Newey. Quite a line up... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
