Brought to you by our episode sponsor GreenPan.This week I'm chatting with Megan Dalla-Camina, award-winning expert in women's leadership and empowerment. We delve into:
Megan believes that midlife for women is a season which shapes how we view everything that has happened to us, who we are right now and what's next. Megan has been on her own personal and leadership journey and is the founder and CEO of Women Rising, which has sparked her passion for helping thousands of women globally lead confidently and thrive. As we start to unhook, unlearn and reprogram in midlife, we face societal pressures and negative biases. In this fantastic episode, Jo and Megan explore how women rise in midlife and discuss: Megan's early life, including creation, creativity, expression, freedom, and not wanting to be pinned down, chronic fatigue at 21 and the sense of tapping into something bigger and being guided by intuition. Megan worked 18 hours a day worldwide. While she loved it, she also lost herself, to the point of many burnouts. Systemic biases that exist in a patriarchal system and how to navigate that. Shift the conversation to more of a win-win scenario by calling men in, not calling them out. Compared to what is best for us, the impact of a gendered construct of leadership and what an ideal looks like in society. Rather than shapeshifting ourselves and trying to fit a square peg, a round hole. How much of our daily life can be driven be a should in your head. The musts that are ingrained beliefs and expectations that are guided by a sense of urgency and doing it now, which creates havoc on already fractured nervous systems. Turning our inner critic voice into an ally. The 13 different archetypes, as mentioned in her book. I highly recommend that you read Megan's book, which can be found at https://megandallacamina.com/womenrisingbook/ and follow Megan on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/company/women-rising-co/ You can also find me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/joclarkcoaching/ and LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/joclarkcoaching/ Here's to redefining midlife and making our next half of life even better than the first.

There is a lot of discussion around women's empowerment in general, but women's leadership in particular is a topic that we are still defining and understanding. Today's chat is about understanding the reasons behind why ⅘ women feel as though they are not thriving at work and the little voice in our head tells us we just aren't doing a good enough job. Megan calls this the archetypes of the inner critic: The perfectionistThe beauty queenThe scepticThe imposterThe people pleaserThe outsiderThe comparerThe good girlThe overachieverThe self doubterThe chameleonThe empathThe ideal mother We also speak about: What mini burnout looks like and how you feel when the mini burnouts happen one after the other Motherhood paradox of the expectation to work like they don't have children but raise kids as though they don't have work responsibilities People pleasing, trying to be an agreeable, easy to work with person and how that leads to you not getting what you deserve at work How we can utilise this information to help us feel more comfortable in finding what is going to be ‘success' to us and make us genuinely happy Feminine vs masculine ‘traits' in leadership You can find more from Megan at her website and InstagramYou can get Megan's book Women Rising You can watch us on Youtube Find us on Instagram Join us on tiktok Or join the Facebook Discussion Group Tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your dog, tell your friend and share the love because WE LOVE LOVE! xx See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's power chat is with the CEO of women's leadership and empowerment company Women Rising Megan Dalla Camina. Our paths crossed when she asked me for a coffee date in 2019 when I created Powerful Steps and we have supported each other in our quest to help women rise. Megan is incredibly creative and a cheerleader of women in leadership who find themselves at a crossroad in life. She left an 18-year corporate career to become an entrepreneur and dive deep into more purposeful work helping women step into their power. Topics discussed: 1) What are the biggest challenges women in leadership are facing today? 2) How can they get out of their own way and rise to the challenge? 3) If a system can't change for women to rise to the top of their game, how can we show up to be seen and heard so we make an impact in ways that take others by surprise? 4) You have written books on the power of loving yourself from the inside out which starts with doing the inner work. Many women reuse to make time for themselves through fear of missing out. You and I know that if you don't make time you burn to the ground and it can be hard to rise again. What are the daily rituals you use to ensure you can be there for yourself and others? 5) Your next powerful step? Megan and I met through the power of a partnership coffee date. Last week in Part 1 of my incredible conversation with Megan Dalla-Camina, we discussed rising up with confidence as women in the workplace, and the prevalence of burnout for women on a global scale. Megan had so many powerful insights to share that we just had to come back with Part 2 of our conversation. For today's episode, I wanted to tap into Megan's mindset and understand what she thinks needs to change to create a more inclusive and equal world for women to participate in. Megan has a powerful mindset and has courageously broken through some pretty major glass ceilings in her career. However, it wasn't smooth sailing or a linear path for her to get there. Megan looks back over her corporate career and reflects on the challenges and burnout she faced when she lacked that healthy mindset. We also talk about how creating positive change in the workplace is multi-faceted, and that there seems to be no silver bullet. But understanding these factors is important in the process of driving sizeable steps towards gender equality and inclusivity in our world. Megan shares her ideas around what ideal leadership could look like, from CEO's at the top to managers in the middle. She also shares the alarming statistics around women leaving the workforce due to lack of support and chronic burnout. We discuss ideas around getting clear on what we want for our careers and determining how to build true, lasting confidence. Discovering our own authenticity and learning to chart our own path will create agency over our lives. Once we are in control over our own wellbeing and mindset, it's then that we're able to choose what we do next. I'm grateful for the honesty Megan shared with us and I just know you'll be so inspired by her passion and dedication to empowering women to rise. As women, we're experiencing record levels of burnout on a global scale. We experience inequality in the workplace, struggle to prioritise ourselves and often lack the opportunity to look up. In today's episode, I chat with the amazing Megan Dalla-Camina about gender equality and the incredible work she does supporting women to rise in the workplace. As well as being an award-winning marketing director and strategist for corporate heavyweights, Megan is a bestselling author and the founder of Women Rising. Her company aims to empower women in their career leadership journey and in their lives. Megan has fought for a new path for women to own their power, embrace their sovereignty and rise. She shares her own background in experiencing a male dominated world where, like so many of us, she was taught to believe this was the norm. We dive into areas such as: The way we are conditioned and how under the patriarchy, women face the same challenges in all age groups and across many different cultures How women feel guilty about putting themselves first, which results in massive burnout in their lives Giving ourselves permission to prioritise our own wellbeing and create agency over our own lives The approach Megan takes in leading women to take back their power Megan has so much powerful insight to share on such a complex issue, and this is just Part 1 of our incredible conversation. I hope this episode inspires you to think about the structures in our society and how they may be holding you back from rising up in your power. Jo ChunYan and I have been connected for many years in the little coaching community we are in - but have never had a chance to properly connect. Her work caught my attention when I saw she did the most beautiful rebrand for my old coach and podcast guest Megan Dalla-Camina and the beautiful design and packaging for my favourite jewellery brand, Love Is Your Compass. And that was before I even knew about her work as an intuitive coach and creator of the Intuition Journal. We had so much to talk about, we could have chatted for hours (in fact we did, but we kept the good stuff for the episode!) In this episode, we also talk about: // Following the breadcrumbs to finding a business that is aligned instead of rushing out of the gates; // Learning to trust and develop your intuition by discovering what feels right; // The importance of stillness and silence as a daily practice to cultivate intuition; // Some great tips to getting grounded and back into your body to really earth the higher energies into real life; // Making decisions based on your intuition and how to bring intuitive work into your day-to-day life; // The difference between following your heart and your survival system (and the chemicals in your body) and your intuition so you can make decisions from a higher place; // Cultivating intention and intuition as a daily practice, instead of an end goal focus; // Using intention and rituals in day-to-day business life, especially when holding space for clients; // How to use intention and intuition as a creative person to go against the traditional ideals of 'bleeding for your art' and the tortured artist; // The layers of uplevelling even in new business branding;

We are living in a time of great hurry, flurry, busyness and hustle. Even if we try to resist such things, they still swirl around us and can be hard to ignore or not fall into. The result of this is, I believe, many of us are craving more simple lives that echo the times of our grandmothers, great grandmothers and beyond. Lives that are more simple, more soulful and more sacred. My guest on The Priestess Podcast today is Megan Dalla Camina and she has written a beautiful book called ‘Simple, Soulful, Sacred' - and it's a gift for our times on how we can create lives that are just that. Megan's wise and wonderful writing and thoughts on this topic feel like a hustle antidote and are inspiring in their simplicity on how very small and tangible choices and changes are available to us all - every day - if we choose them. The result? A more simple, soulful and sacred life.
Megan Dalla-Camina is on the show today and we're talking about womanhood, rebirthing, softening of edges, receptivity, unfolding, unraveling and coming into truth. So many of our favorite things on this show! She dropped some terms I loved - appreciative inquiry and positive core - and she talked about navigating a deficit based world by finding openings and focusing on our strengths. We discussed the difference between things that make sense and things that "want to come through," how scary it can be to be soft, especially if you over-identify with being strong, why "leaning in" isn't always great advice, and this distinction I really loved - between simple, boring, settling, and creating drama. Enjoy, share and let us know what parts were your favorite! xo, E For more information and for full show notes, head to http://untameyourself.com/311 Truth Telling with Elizabeth DiAlto aims to cut through the noise and ignorance of our current culture by exploring the truths of a diverse range of incredible voices. Ever wonder, “How did I get here? I’m not as good as everyone else here. What’s going to happen to me when they find out I’m not as smart as them?” If you answered, “yes” then chances are you have experienced Impostor Phenomenon or Imposter Syndrome. This experience was initially coined to describe the experiences of White women who believed their achievements were a result of happenstance; lived in fear of being taken as a fraud; and setting sometimes unrealistic high standards of achievement. This syndrome may be more exacerbated in people of color, particularly women, who often receive societal messages of not belonging or not good enough. (Cokely, K., et. al., 2013). In this week’s episode, join Dom and Terri as they discuss Imposter Syndrome/Impostor Phenomenon, its effects on our well-being and ways to combat it. Terri begins with a story and unintentionally ends up “on the couch” with Dr. Dom who challenges Terri to re-examine how she describes herself. Keep listening and you’ll get tips (through Dom and Terri’s own experiences) on how to check yourself and remind yourself that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Quote of the Day: “At the end of the day, remember this: You are here for a reason. In this job, your business, your life, you are worthy. You are better than you think you are. You are smarter than you think you are. You know more than you give yourself credit for. Remember that. Remind yourself as often as you need to.” - Megan Dalla-Camina Takeaways: Ways to Conquer Imposter Syndrome/Impostor Phenomenon: Be realistic about your strengths and weaknesses Alter your narrative/Reframe your thinking Celebrate your accomplishments Recognize these feelings are normal Access your support system Resources: Clance, P.R. Megan Dalla-Camina is one of those powerhouse women whose accolades and achievements are pages long. From her high flying corporate career working for companies such as IBM and PwC to her successful business, books, and now her new enterprise, Lead Like a Woman, extraordinary is definitely a fitting way to describe her. I first met Megan last year through the online community, B School, and was surprised when she recently revealed to me that she identifies as more introverted, even as she explains in the episode, this is a new revelation to her as well. In this episode, we chat about: The new conversation around introverts to help people better understand themselves; The corporate environment not being particularly supportive of introverted people (especially women) and the stock standard model of a 'leader' in workplaces; Finding ways to make your work environment work for you and help you thrive; Why introverts make such great leaders; How to stand up and thrive as a leader if that's not your natural tendency; Megan's personal journey to burn out from her corporate career and how she's aligned her business to support her introverted energy.
