Allegories. Christians love allegories! That’s a story element of having a person, place, or thing meant a a direct picture of something else, like Jesus or moral virtues. Some people think Jesus did this in parables, or C.S. Lewis did this with Narnia. Others point to Pilgrim's Progress as a prime example. Even if they're right about that, might some readers and authors focus so much on possible “allegories” that we miss great stories’ deeper meanings? So in Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, the character Timorous represents fear and Mr. Worldly Wiseman represents worldly wisdom. In our day, distinction of genres has been muddled a bit, so we tend to regard any story with symbolic elements in it as allegorical, but it was not always this way. C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, for instance, are not allegories, even as often as they are referred to as such, and Lewis himself said as much. The parables of Jesus could be said to contain allegorical elements, some more than others, but they are not strictly speaking themselves allegories. Jesus definitely deals in the world of virtues and vices, but he is most immediately interested in the world of human beings, their hearts, their words, and their deeds. “How Not to Read the Parables,” Jared C. Wilson The reason for the long history of the misinterpretation of the parables can be traced back to something Jesus himself said, as recorded in Mark 4:10–12. When asked about the purpose of parables, he seems to have suggested that they contained mysteries for those on the inside, while they hardened those on the outside. Because he then proceeded to “interpret” the parable of the sower in a semi-allegorical way, this was seen to give license to the hardening theory and endless allegorical interpretations. The parables were considered to be simple stories for those on the outside to whom the “real meanings,” the “mysteries,” were hidden; these belonged only to the church and could be uncovered by means of allegory. How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth by Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stuart 1. Jesus's parables aren't just allegories Sometimes the Lord interpreted His tales this way. For example, He says the seed is like His word and different soils are like different hearers (see Mark 4:13–20; Matthew 13:18–23; Luke 8:11–15). But we may miss His main point if seek out the Secret Allegories. No less top church fathers seem to have started this trend. Famously he read many allegories into the Good Samaritan tale. But the central point is to answer, “Who is my neighbor?” At other times He simply said, “The kingdom of heaven is like…” Meaning the whole parable says something about His kingdom. What follows might be a prophecy of doom in the end times. Or it might be an illustration of human behavior fit for His reign. His parable may be about groups, individuals, morals, or salvation! In either case, “he who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 2. Pilgrim's Progress is allegory; Narnia is not Many readers fondly remember John Bunyan's classic quest tale. The allegories start simple but accessible, especially for Puritans. “Christian” is a Christian. “Evangelist” is. Apollyon is just a demon! Then as we've previously explored, the allegories get complicated. God, angels, the Bible, and Heaven are literal. So are good and evil. At one point Moses himself cameos as a Law-enforcing antihero! Altogether, Bunyan is both less and more creative than we thought. However, we needn’t impose our view of Progress For instance, many Christians learned to like Narnia by accepting the common belief that Lewis put “allegories” into his fantasy tale. Stephen recalls one article around the movie release in 2005. The writer meant well, but made up all kinds of silly “allegories.” He believed the Pevensies are apostles and weapons are prayer. Lewis himself specifically says outright that he did not do this. Aslan isn't an “allegory” for Jesus. He is Jesus, working his good will in many worlds across a fantastical barely glimpsed multiverse. One's view of “allegory” shouldn't overturn clearly stated words. Otherwise we'd all end up reading our own ideas into the Bible too! 3. Forced allegories may ruin some stories Frankly, forcing allegories into stories risks rejecting their real truth. With limited allegories, Jesus made sure His parables carry layers. With mixed/complex allegories, Pilgrim's Progress has aged well! By avoiding direct allegories, Narnia can be subtle yet also overt. And for new Christian-made fantasy, we can expect the same. Kids and grown-ups can lose themselves in the story, not pulling it apart for useful parts, but being surprised by deeper meanings. History shows this is a far more powerful way to read stories. Instead of making them into Teaching Tools, as if stuff we make up could replace God's word, stories help us see our own responses. This is a far more human emphasis closer to imagination's purpose. And for new writers out there, we encourage going deeper. Allegories look like ultimate meaning, but they're really 101 level. Example: any sword may evoke Ephesians 6. But it's first a sword. You don't have to limit this idea to the word of God or even prayer. Swords have more resonance in Scripture than just one text. They're tools of men and angels alike to defeat or restrain evil. So don't reduce the concrete object to some spiritual abstract. Really this comes down to how we see the world. Do we expect a bodiless “spiritoid” eternity? Or one where matter itself matters? Scripture promises a union of tangible New Earth and New Heaven. Ultimately our stories must hearken to this reality. So study deep! The host frames the discussion around Revelation 21:22, where John describes the climactic city of God's future kingdom and makes a startling observation—he “saw no temple” in the city. Rather than treating that detail as symbolic filler, the episode argues it is theologically intentional and prophetically consistent with the Old Testament, especially Ezekiel's end-times vision. From the start, the host notes that the series is exploring themes like new creationism, premillennialism, the New Heaven and New Earth, the millennium, and the New Jerusalem. The goal is not to avoid prophecy details but to interpret them carefully—“nothing more or nothing less”—because God includes details for a reason. Revelation 21:22: The Lord God and the Lamb Are the Temple The core text is Revelation 21:22, where John says the New Jerusalem contains no temple, “for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” That statement becomes the foundation for the episode's primary answer: Why no temple? Because a temple is not needed in the New Jerusalem. In the biblical storyline, a temple functions as a sacred space that mediates God's presence among His people. But in the New Jerusalem, God's presence is immediate and direct. The city does not require a separate structure to represent or localize God's dwelling, because God Himself—Father and Son—fulfills what the temple always pointed to. This interpretation highlights a major biblical theme: the movement from limited access to God's presence toward full access, culminating in the restored and permanent fellowship between God and humanity. Ezekiel's Vision Supports the “No Temple in the City” Detail A major argument in the transcript is that Ezekiel and John are not contradictory; instead, Ezekiel provides a background framework that helps explain John's description. Ezekiel separates the temple from the city The host emphasizes that Ezekiel distinguishes the temple from the city. In Ezekiel's prophetic tour, the angelic guide shows a structured sacred region that contains multiple elements in relationship—but not identical location. This matters because it supports the idea that even if a temple exists in Ezekiel's vision, it is not necessarily inside the city itself, which aligns with John seeing “no temple in it” (in the city). In other words, the “no temple” detail is not a problem to solve by dismissing Ezekiel or spiritualizing John. Instead, the episode proposes a straightforward reading: temple and city are distinct but near each other. The Holy Allotment: Ezekiel 45 and the End-Time Sacred Plateau One of the transcript's most important concepts is the Holy Allotment (referencing Ezekiel 45:1–7). Ezekiel describes a large square portion of land—notably described as being on a plateau—set apart as uniquely holy. Within this Holy Allotment, Ezekiel's vision includes both sacred and civic components. The city structure and its tribal gates Ezekiel describes a city-like structure with three gates on each side, named for the twelve tribes of Israel. This echoes the broader biblical theme of covenant identity and God's faithful restoration of His people. The host notes that the city aspect in Ezekiel often gets overshadowed by the heavy attention given to the temple measurements, but it should not—Ezekiel's city has a function, and that function ties into end-time governance and God's dwelli...

A high frequency “energy membrane” or “bubble” is forming around the Earth that will help the collective ascension of humanity according to Dr. David Clements, a former professional physicist. We are quite certain of your ascension, and yet we know that you are all choosing different paths to get to the same place. We support you no matter what path you choose as an individual, and we know that every path has merit, has validity, has a purpose. What we do for all of you is to light the way so that you can see that no matter what path you are on, you know where you are going. You know that there is an end point that you are reaching for. You cannot get off of the path that you are on at this point. You have chosen ascension. You have chosen to remember more of who you really are while still in this physical body, and you have chosen to explore a unique path that would allow you to know yourself more through the walking of that path. And when we say ‘more,' we are talking about the true you, the real you, the whole you. Many of you want to know who you were in a past life and where you are from in terms of other star systems in the galaxy, but we are talking about the true you as a Source Energy Being. And everything that you encounter along your path is an opportunity to know yourself more experientially as you truly are. Of course, you have desires and you are meant to have desires, and those desires do serve you and serve you well. They keep you going. They give you something to reach for, something to achieve. And of course, you want to have something to do while in the physical realm, exploring that reality and that planet and that dimension. And so, you have your desires. In the pursuit of your desires, you will be faced with what you need to face in order to grow. Welcome to the 2026 Key Chapters of the Bible Podcast! Starting today, we're back in Genesis 1 for another run through God's Word together! Genesis 1 is one of the most important passages in the entire Bible. Here, we learn about God, His work in creation, His design for us, and we'll begin to answer the questions of "Who am I?", "Why am I here?" and "What does God want me to do with my life?" The answers are powerful and life-changing. Join us!  DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    Read through Genesis 1 and underline the verses that are particularly meaningful to you. Why did you underline them? 2.    Draw a circle around every occurrence of the word "said." Who is speaking? What does this say about how creation came about? Is this truth a struggle for you to accept? Why or why not? 3.    Draw a box around every occurrence of the word "good." What does this tell us about the condition of God's original design? Why is that important for us to know as we now live in a world that is not perfect? 4.    Genesis 1 describes trillions upon trillions of actions in simplified terminology that anyone can understand. What does this tell us about God's intent to clearly communicate His message to mankind? 5.    According to the study, who "made God"? 6.    In reading Genesis 1, what is God like? How is this similar or different from what people typically think about Him? 7.    Throughout this passage, God's creation takes place over 6 days. How should these days be understood? What impact does this have on your understanding of how the universe came into existence? 8.    When did you first realize God created the light before He created the Sun and Moon? Did that surprise you? Did it cause you to question God's Word? How does our understanding of God's glory relate to the order in which He created light? 9.    Revelation 22:5 tells us that the New Heaven and the New Earth will have no darkness. Why do you think God allowed darkness here? Why won't there be darkness in the New Heaven and New Earth? 10.    What are some possible reasons God refers to Himself in the plural in verse 26? How does John 1:1-3 fit in with Genesis 1? Likewise, how was Jesus involved in creation? 11.    What does Genesis 1:27 mean when it says mankind was created in God's image? What does this not mean?
