Astrologers Chris Brennan and Patrick Watson explore the ancient timing technique known as Babylonian goal year periods, which can be used to identify repeating transits and events over very long spans of time. Recovered from the astronomical diaries of Mesopotamian sky watchers in the first millennium BCE, these periods demonstrate how the visible planets repeat their exact zodiacal placements and phase relationships with the Sun over predictable intervals. Our discussion breaks down the math behind these synodic cycles and highlights how repetition is the ultimate key to prediction in both mundane and natal astrology. By examining compelling historical case studies for each of the traditional planets, from the 1929 Wall Street Crash to major breakthroughs in modern communication technology, we show how tracking these ancient cycles allows astrologers to identify profound historical recurrences and project future events with stunning accuracy. In this week's episode of The Game Informer Show podcast, special guest Patrick Susmilch joins the crew to discuss the remake of Star Fox 64, Steam Next Fest demos like Penguin Colony and Duskfade, Charles' review of The Adventures of Elliot, Dark Scrolls (no, that's not a typo), Saros, and more.Susmilch performed on Last Comic Standing (you'll never guess which famous comedian liked his set), but is undeniably best known for his appearance here at Game Informer in 2014, where he discussed making terrible XNA games for Xbox with his friends. He also developed a narrative game about performing bad stand-up comedy, Open Mic Simulator. Oh, also, everyone's favorite Star Fox character, Yaru de Pon, is a guest for the duration of the video show, but we don't like to talk about it.The Game Informer Show is a weekly podcast covering the video game industry. "All women have a garden, and a garden needs a big hose to water it... or a small hose... as long as it works." We watched "Now and Then" with a friend of the pod, Michael Valvo, and we'd like to speak to the spirit of Dear Johnny. This movie will forever be iconic and not just as the girl version of "Stand By Me." The comparisons are inevitable, but reductive - especially once you've actually watched the movie, Tamar. The legacy and cultural impact of "Now and Then" are undeniable and thanks in no small part to the cast - millennials grew up with Christina Ricci, Gaby Hoffmann, Thora Birch, and Ashleigh Aston Moore (and Devon Sawa). These girls are best friend goals, and their summer together in 1970 is an adventure we're all still chasing. If we lived in the Gaslight Addition, we'd spend our entire summer bothering Wiladene, the waitress (Janeane Garofalo) at the diner, and her fortune-telling night job. Take us back to a time before MTV, Nintendo, and all the other modern distractions of 90's teenagers. Lured Up Podcast 398: Be Present, Not Perfect Live Streamed on - 6/25/2026 Publish Date - 6/26/2026 First off we wanted to share a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who wrote in, shared feedback, and offered support after last week's episode! It is truly amazing to see the community come together and rally around each other. It means the world to us and we are proud to be a part of this incredible scene. We follow up on last week's topic, share some feedback, and look at the practice of being present, not perfect. It's a powerful sentiment and absolutely has parallels to Pokémon GO. In the gameplay space, it is all about IRL gameplay. With 6 new City Safari events being announced, the community will have a lot of opportunity to come together to celebrate the game. Adam and I will be attending the Boston City Safari, and we hope to have the opportunity to play along side of you! More info to come on our plans and what we have in store for the Chicago locals and inbound Trainers. We touch on our Frigibax Community Day experiences and look forward to Skarmory Super Mega Raid Day, two events that are better when played with the community. From Community Day's non stop gameplay to the volume and demand that Super Mega Raid Days present, we encourage everyone to get out to experience this game with others. We also look at how the Giovanni mechanic has changed and no longer arrives via balloon. This forces Trainers to get out there to track him down, adding difficulty, immersion, and some commitment to the process. While some Trainers and creators online hate everything about this change, we are all about it, as it encourages the exploration element of the game, and makes the hunt unique. We're in the midst of Star Fox Week and it's been so fun riding high on the hype Arwing. With the new Star Fox game coming to Switch 2, we just had to rank every Star Fox game and also ask ourselves where we think Star Fox on Switch 2 will fall within these rankings. Also in this episode, we're playing some new games including one that reminds us so much of classic Zelda and Chrono Trigger. The reviews are in for Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2, and critics are praising its incredible visuals, responsive controls, expanded story, voice acting, challenge modes, and online multiplayer. Nintendo Life awarded it a 9 out of 10, while The Verge called it the Switch 2's most impressive visual showcase yet. However, not everyone is completely sold. The biggest criticism is that this is still another retelling of Star Fox 64, with an arcade-style campaign built around short playthroughs, alternate routes, high scores, and repetition. Tonight, we're breaking down the Star Fox reviews, the biggest compliments and complaints, and whether this is the comeback the franchise desperately needed. What do you think? Isaac Larian is the founder and CEO of MGA Entertainment, the company behind Bratz, L.O.L. Surprise!, Little Tikes, and dozens of other iconic toy brands. But long before he built one of the largest private toy companies in the world, Isaac was a Jewish kid growing up in Tehran, where he faced antisemitism, bullying, and poverty. After arriving in America alone at 17 with just $753 in his pocket, Isaac worked the graveyard shift washing dishes while putting himself through college. He later built a successful electronics distribution business, became one of Nintendo's largest distributors, and eventually shifted into toys, where he created some of the most successful doll brands of the last two decades. In 2026, Isaac was inducted into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame in recognition of his transformative impact on the industry and his role in creating global brands including Bratz and L.O.L. Surprise!.In this episode of Big Shot, Harley Finkelstein and David Segal sit down with Isaac to discuss the experiences that shaped his relentless drive, the lessons he learned from failure, and the persistence that helped him build MGA Entertainment. Nintendo Switch Online has proven itself to be quite a robust collection of classic Nintendo retro games, but there are still a number of first-party Nintendo published games we have yet to see on the service. Vince Goodwin from the Some of My Friends Read Comics podcast joins to go through all of them, including which are most likely to come to Nintendo Classics and the ones we'd be most excited to see from NES & SNES to GBA & Gamecube. We also cover all the Nintendo and gaming news such as Microsoft's XBOX division closing several studios, a big update to the eshop on the original Switch, new details unveiled about the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake and much more. This week on Nintendo Pow Block, Corey Dirrig is joined by the one and only Stephanie Klimov to discuss leaked game description that hints that Link's iconic N64 adventure will be a faithful remake with gorgeous new visuals and "timeless combat" later this year. They also discuss Nintendo Japan's strict new 50-hour playtime requirement to combat multi-language Switch 2 scalpers in the region, Mega Man's playable debut and Capcom's presence at Gamescom 2026, and the shocking reports that Microsoft is weighing major closures and spin-offs for fan-favorite Xbox studios like Ninja Theory and Double Fine. How does it play on the Switch and Switch 2, especially compared with how it performed on the Wii U? And how are we now feeling about the original 3D DK platformer in light of Donkey Kong Bananza?

Escuchar audio
26th June 2026 marks 30 years since the Nintendo 64 launched in Japan, and Alex went so mad with the pod format for one of his seminal console that we've had to cut the pod into two parts! We're taking you on a journey through every year of the console's life cycle (including some bonus prerequisite pre-release chat) from 1996-2001, with the key developments and news, plus our thoughts on the key games. We'll culminate the pod in the very near future with the same for 2000-2001, and finish everything off with our own personal top 10 games lists. Tune in for that in a few weeks. Tell us your favourite N64 games on BlueSky @winnerisyou, and check out what we're up to on RankOne - SuperSmillie and Thrillex.
In today's episode of Truth Wanted, ObjectivelyDan is joined by Nintendrew for his official debut in the skeptic community! They explore the "Bite model" of cults, the bizarre pseudo-history of British Israelism, and why secular morality outshines religious dogma. Can even the most intelligent people be fooled by a well-crafted narrative?Omar in TX asks about religion and conspiracy theories in gaming culture. Drew shares how debunking a 1980s Nintendo rumor revealed the fragile nature of historicity. If we can't verify recent facts, how can we trust ancient manuscripts? Why do even skeptical communities fall for rage-baiting?Will in the UK argues that trillionaires are ethical because they take massive risks that drive innovation. Dan and Drew challenge this, noting that extreme wealth often stems from anti-competitive monopolies. Does a broken system justify such a wealth gap? Can any amount of charity balance the scales?Thank you for joining us today! Fanbases are great! Passionate, kind, lovely people showing their support and loyalty to the things they enjoy. However...a lot of the weird, toxic, strange, offputting, and detestable stuff tends to rise to the top. Today, we honor the latter. While also finally giving the official Super Drunkey Ball rules. Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley take a deep dive into Copa Holdings — the Panama-based hub-and-spoke airline whose investment case now turns on two of the most debated questions in the stock today: whether Copa is a structural exception to the airline curse — protected by a geography no rival can copy and a cost base only a handful of carriers in the world can match — or whether even the best airline in the Americas eventually gets pulled into the same gravity that has destroyed value for nearly every other carrier. Some investors believe Copa is a structural exception the market consistently underprices because it's lumped in with the broader sector, with a Panama hub at the geographic center of the hemisphere that lets it serve 85 destinations using nothing but single-aisle 737s, a sub-6¢ ex-fuel cost base only Ryanair, Wizz Air, and a couple of others can match, a 99.8% completion rate that turns the "missed flight" tax hammering other carriers into one of Copa's structural cost advantages, and a 38-year CEO who has refused to expand into Europe or chase growth at any price. Join Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley as they work through whether Copa's hub-and-spoke economics are genuinely uncopiable or just holding off the gravity that has eventually captured nearly every other airline, examine what Copa's structural advantages actually look like in 2026 versus the "all airlines destroy capital" narrative the market still anchors to, and assess whether Copa Holdings deserves a spot in The Intrinsic Value Portfolio. IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: (00:00:00) Intro (00:00:47) Why airlines are such a tough business to be in (00:02:49) What Buffett and other superinvestors think (00:16:05) Why Copa is different than other airlines (00:30:41) How being the best-in-class business can change the investors' outcome (00:36:37) How Copa built its moat (00:55:35) How Copa can defend its moat (01:17:25) Valuation discussion of Copa (01:19:47) Whether Copa is valued attractively (01:22:31) Whether Shawn and Daniel add CPA to the Intrinsic Value Portfolio Disclaimer: Slight discrepancies in the timestamps may occur due to podcast platform differences. It's DK Vine on DK Challenge! Hyle and Dustin discuss the time-limited Switch 2 event for Nintendo Switch Online members, swapping stories about the most difficult of the lot and asking if this counts as an actual Donkey Kong game. And if it does, where and how does it fit into the lore of the Donkey Kong Universe? (Yes, Hyle has a long-winded answer.)
Paige leads the podcast through some impressions of games announced at the Nintendo Direct, including likely Game of the Year, Final Fantasy Resonance.
The landscape of corporate gaming faces severe disruption as Microsoft shifts away from its decade-long strategy of aggressive acquisitions. Newly appointed Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma has warned internal staff of a necessary "reset" following declining margins, forcing beloved studios like Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Compulsion Games into tense negotiations to spin off independently and escape outright closure. Meanwhile, independent powerhouse IO Interactive is celebrating a spectacular commercial triumph with 007 First Light shifting 2.7 million units in its debut week alongside a praised commitment to a year of free content. On the strategy front, British studio Frontier Developments has quietly confirmed a new entry in its acclaimed management simulation portfolio, immediately triggering frantic community speculation regarding its next thematic setting. In cross-media triumphs, Nintendo and Illumination's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has officially crossed the momentous $1 billion milestone at the global box office. To close out the briefing, the team shares their personal picks of the week—spanning the maritime economic tabletop game Container to the high-octane racing of MF Ghost—supplemented by active discussions within the BlueSky community. #gameburst
This week on the Zenspath Entertainment Network (Ep 225) Jeremy, Stephen, & Chase talk about how Xbox & PlayStation have squandered the hype around some amazing presentations last week, Nintendo deals with a hack that leads to basically nothing, AdHoc is still trying to distract from their censorship mess around "Dispatch", Epic pushes AI for Unreal 6 & Lumen for Unreal 5.8, & more! Our "Big Question" for this week is "With companies seemingly imploding from buying up & shutting down studios, moving to AI to replace most artists for "efficiency", & a drive towards incomplete or a lack of physical releases…how do you feel this will change the gaming landscape for you & your purchased & playing habits over the next 10 years through what you feel the next generation may end up being like?" Lured Up Podcast 397 Live Streamed on - 6/19/2026 Publish Date - 6/20/2026 This has been a WILD week! Not just in game and on screen, but in real life too. Ken opens up about a serious health scare, and how it is a wake up call not just to take care of yourself, but also each other. With June being Men's Mental Health Month, it is an important reminder to understand how your mental health can have a direct impact on your physical health. Stay tuned to the end of the episode to hear Ken share his feelings, and offer advice on how we can all do better at looking after on another. In-game, the news has been completely bonkers. The Road of Legends event is by far and away the most packed event the game has ever seen, even making the upcoming GO Fest: Global pale in comparison. With a ridiculous amount of Raid Bosses in rotation, some great bonuses, and the ability to EliteTM Adventure Effects, this will be one for the record books. We still have a few weeks before the event kicks off, but we make our first pass through the blog and call out the highlights. IRL GO Fests may be behind us, but JUne still has a lot of life left! We scan through the remaining events of the month including Frigibax Community Day, Skarmory Super Mega Raid Day, and Flying Taxi. We also had some updates to Daily Discoveries including clarifications about Friendship Friday, and a very cool direction for Scenic Sunday. Spotlight Hours also make a consistent return including the much missed Double Transfer Canty bonus. We also look ahead to what we know for July including Raichu Super Mega Raid Day and Sobble Community Day. Also, an upcoming partnership with Lego Stores in select Countries will bring us a Stamp Rally, and special Lego Background Pikachu, exclusively obtained at Raids in-store. Check the links for the Lego Store Locator and plan an outing! One last note from Ken - Thank you to our entire community for supporting Lured Up for 10 years. We love what we do, and we are so proud to be able to have such a loyal and engaged audience. Your presence in our streams, comments, and at IRL events is the fuel that keeps me positive and motivated. Take care of yourself, take care of those around you, and keep things positive. Your energy is valuable, and should be treated as your most important currency. Thanks again! Hundreds of millions of Pokémon Go players spent years filming the streets, parks, and buildings around them to earn in-game rewards.
