Im Podcast „Streitkräfte und Strategien“ geht es an Tag 1332 des russischen Angriffskrieges gegen die Ukraine um den umstrittenen Vorschlag, junge Männer per Losverfahren für den Wehrdienst auszuwählen. Sollten künftig nicht ausreichend Freiwillige gefunden werden, könnte es bald auch eine verpflichtende Wehrpflicht für bestimmte Jahrgänge geben. „Das Problem der Wehrgerechtigkeit ist juristisch komplex“, sagt Verteidigungsexperte Uli Hauck aus dem ARD-Hauptstadtstudio und kritisiert im Gespräch mit Anna Engelke die schlechte Kommunikation der Bundesregierung und auch der Fraktionen im Bundestag. Norbert Röttgen von der CDU verteidigt das Verfahren als „fair und rational“: „Nach dem Zufallsverfahren trifft jeden Mann die gleiche Chance, das gleiche Risiko.“ Demgegenüber steht die scharfe Kritik von Grünen-Fraktionschefin Katharina Dröge: „Dieser Vorschlag erzeugt einen verheerenden Eindruck im Land.“ Unterdessen soll es nach dem erfolglosen Treffen von Donald Trump und Wladimir Putin in Alaska vor zwei Monaten ein neues Treffen in Budapest geben. „Würde es Dich stören, wenn ich ein paar tausend Tomahawks an Deine Gegner gebe?“, soll der US-Präsident nach eigenen Angaben Putin gefragt haben. Kai Küstner bleibt im Podcast eher skeptisch und hält für möglich, dass der Kreml das Telefonat lediglich genutzt habe, um Trump von scharfen Sanktionen abzuhalten und die drohenden Waffenlieferungen in letzter Minute zu blockieren. Es gehöre zur Kreml-Strategie, erklärt Kai, die USA und die Ukraine auseinander zu treiben. Anfang dieser Woche waren die Fraktionschefs von Union und SPD, Jens Spahn und Matthias Miersch, in der Ukraine. Sie besuchten den Schauplatz russischer Kriegsverbrechen in Butscha und trafen den ukrainischen Präsidenten. Georg Ismar, politischer Korrespondent der Süddeutschen Zeitung, war bei der Reise dabei. Er sieht in ihr auch ein innenpolitisches Signal, das Einigkeit beim Thema Ukrainehilfen zeigen soll. In dieser Folge berichtet Ismar, worüber unterwegs gesprochen wurde und wie viel Unterstützung Deutschland der Ukraine in Zukunft zusichern könnte. Anne Will und Georg Ismar sprechen außerdem über das neue Wehrdienstgesetz. Derzeit hat die Bundeswehr rund 180.000 Soldatinnen und Soldaten. Diese Zahl soll auf 260.000 anwachsen, zudem braucht es eine viel größere Reserve als bisher, denn die NATO hat die Anforderungen an ihre Mitgliedsstaaten erhöht. Die schwarz-rote Koalition hat sich nun vergangene Woche auf einen Entwurf für das geplante Wehrdienstgesetz verständigt. Das Gesetz setzt auf Freiwilligkeit, wie Verteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius von der SPD betont. Aus der Union kommt Kritik, zum Beispiel von CDU-Außenpolitiker Norbert Röttgen: “Es fehlt an jeder Zahl und an jeder Frist, was wann zu erreichen ist, so dass Maßnahmen ergriffen werden können, wenn man die Ziele verfehlt.” Hat Schwarz-Rot hier nur einen “vermurksten Kompromiss” gefunden, wie Katharina Dröge von den Grünen bemängelt?
