"I love the Power Glove. It's so bad." We watched "The Wizard" directed by Todd Holland and we're still trying to pass "Super Mario Bros. 3." When this movie was released in 1989 it was the Superbowl, Christmas and Summer Vacation all wrapped into one. A move... about Nintendo... starring Fred Savage - there was no other choice than to Stan. While it's now a cult classic among adults of a certain age (read: Xenniells and older Millenials) it does suffer from an over written plot with a pretty depressing storyline. What could have been a run of the mill, 80's underdog competition movie along the lines of "Karate Kid" or "Rad", set against a Nintendo backdrop, instead we got a sometimes heavy family drama. Overcoming trauma, living with PTSD and a possibly neuro-divergent co-lead is some pretty heady stuff for kids who wanted to see Mario, Luigo, Link and Samus on the big screen. Savage is screaming his performance (no doubt attempting to go toe to toe with Beau Bridges and Christian Slater) but the standouts are Luke Edwards playing the titular video game Wizard and the iconic Jenny Lewis as street smart tough girl Haley. We also get the fantastic use of "Send Me an Angel" by Australian band Real Life. They reeled us in with actual Nintendo games on the big screen - they kept our butts in the seats with sweet behind the scenes Universal Studios action! Lured Up Podcast 409 Live Streamed on 9/15/2026 In a world where we only get one Team GO Rocket Balloon per day, we must push on. Gible Community Day Classic was awesome and seemed strong enough to earn being the only Community Day of the month.Mega Squads was pretty fun, with 5K eggs being a bit harder to find than many would of liked. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's revisit the Balloons now that the dust has settled a bit. A good amount of response to the Balloons was not necessarily from rural Trainers, but Trainers that were advocating for them. Even thinking that there could be a silver lining to the Balloon reduction then you were immediately dismissing the needs of rural Trainers. It opens a discussion about how we create content with the assumption that you have access to engage with the gameboard in some meaningful way. We also understand how some rural Trainers live in such a barren area, that there may not be a PokéStop for miles. Two things can be true, meaning we shouldn't have to put disclaimers on everything we say, just because we are speaking to the broader playerbase. The game won't give you much time to think about anything, as the event calendar remains packed and constantly rolling on. There are plenty of events to cover in the coming weeks, but we did have the announcement and first drop of information on GO Wild Area, coming IRL to Japan and Mexico, and Globally this November. We run through what we know so far, and plan to have a trickling out of details for the event in typical, Pokémon GO Fashion. Our Professor's Principal this week is Give it time before you give it meaning. In Pokémon GO, the Balloon reduction caused a lot of emotion to overflow. To make things harder, while Scopely did come out and confirm the change, they still provided no context or explanation as to why this happened. All we can do is speculate on what is to come, and need to be prepared to accept that nothing may be coming. We discuss the balance between respecting your initial reaction to something, and not taking what you think will happen down the road as the only possible outcome. Trainers want answers, but sometimes the answer presents itself when we give it some time. No matter what happens, the game will continue to roll on. It's the abbreviation for Professional Bowlers Association.The Xbox Game Pass "Surprise Me" button has indeed surprised our two hosts with an obscure sports title. Ages ago it exposed them to the video game version of cricket and now it has selected this skill-driven bowling simulation developed and published by FarSight Studios. Simulating sports via video games has always felt like a strange choice to Tom, but he's also known to enjoy time at the lanes, so maybe those will just cancel each other out and allow him to approach his hour with an open mind. We have to acknowledge that Nintendo brought bowling into countless households two decades ago, but this title is certainly more serious and thankfully a whole lot less likely to cause you to accidentally break your television. In this episode of Shift AI, Paul Mikesell, CEO of Carbon Robotics, joins host Boaz Ashkenazy for a wide-ranging conversation on how AI, lasers, and autonomy are replacing chemical weed control on farms.Carbon Robotics built a foundation model out of 150 million plant images, and Paul explains what happens when you show it a weed it has never encountered before. There's no retraining involved, and the result is something closer to a machine that understands what a plant is rather than one that's just memorized a dataset. Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley revisit Copart (NASDAQ: CPRT), the online salvage auction giant that turns totaled cars into a global marketplace, connecting insurers with more than a million buyers across 190 countries. Copart owns over 250 salvage yards outright — land that's increasingly difficult to permit today — and compounded earnings per share at over 20% a year for a decade. But the stock is down more than 40% from its highs, U.S. insurance volumes have fallen for four straight quarters, and its main competitor, IAA, has now outgrown Copart for six straight quarters.
