The Knobs interview Dave Jordan founder of Non-Human Audio. We had a great time talking with Dave, a very enthusiastic tone-shaper making pedals for the people in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We love Dave's enthusiasm for musical creativity which comes out in spades with his pedal designs. We discuss the Slow Loris dynamic slapback delay and the Unclean cascading distortion two fantastic pedals we had the pleasure of playing. Thanks Dave! Why do tribal casinos pay so much to borrow? The study of lending markets often overlooks borrowing by tribal governments as well as borrowing by tribal casinos. This is a relatively small part of bond markets, and lending markets more generally, but it raises important questions. For instance, it seems to us that tribal casinos -- at least the handful for which we have seen bonds and yields – pay more to borrow than non-tribal casinos. Does the difference reflect perceived credit risk? The legal uncertainties about lending to tribal entities? In this era of ESG, should investors consider whether these loans help achieve tribal development objectives? Our guest is Dave Jordan, of the Wisconsin pension fund, and he tries to educate us about the ways of this market. Producer: Leanna Doty
Innovation has always been critical to the State of Wisconsin Investment Board's (SWIB's) success. As assets under management continue to grow, and the investment industry and the world continue to change, SWIB is positioning itself for the future, finding innovative ways to invest the public pension funds and help secure the financial futures of the people who rely on the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). Last year, SWIB continued to look forward when it launched two new internal alternative fixed income strategies. The new Mortgage Backed Securities and High Yield Portfolios are designed to target less efficient segments of the market. In addition, SWIB partnered with three North American public pension plans to create the Global Peer Financing Association, an innovative nonprofit investment group focused on peer-to-peer securities financing opportunities. In this episode of the podcast, we talk about these innovative initiatives, find out more about how they fit into SWIB's overall investment strategy for the WRS, and learn how they are keeping SWIB at the leading edge of institutional investing. We're joined by Mike Shearer, SWIB's head of alternative fixed income strategies; Dave Jordan, SWIB's high yield portfolio manager; and Chris Benish, a managing analyst in SWIB's Asset & Risk Allocation Division.

The Enneagram is a personal and spiritual development tool that is incredible for self-awareness and growth. Rather than a rigid box, the Enneagram is very fluid and helps us understand ourselves and others so that we can grow individually and collectively! In this episode, Dave & Jordan discuss... What the Enneagram is and what it is not; How it is different than other personality tests; How to find your number; An overview of each of the 9 types; and more! About Dave Glaser Dave Glaser is a certified strength and conditioning and Enneagram coach who is passionate about sharing the benefits of fitness, nutrition, and personal growth to improve mental health. After ten years in coaching clients to their fitness and nutrition goals, he discovered that limiting beliefs are what holds him back from experiencing all that life has to offer. Dave has found that self-awareness through his Enneagram "Challenger" personality type has helped him understand himself and others better to form healthier relationships. For the past three years, he has been educating listeners about their Enneagram personality types, attachment styles, and leadership on "the challenger podcast". Steve interviews Jay Mariotti (00:10:11) to talk about his career, tell his side of the story, and to remember The National. Jay is on for the first time and Steve gets into his career at The National, at ESPN, and of course writing about sports in Chicago. Jay does most of the talking, explains why he left ESPN, and mentions that Roger Ebert once called him an impolite name. Jay also talks about the future of The Athletic, his own future, and Steve wonders if he was an early victim of cancel culture. It's one of the most surreal hours in the history of the podcast and I can't wait for you to listen to it. Also, Dave Jordan (01:14:21) joins us to talk about the book he wrote with Dave Parker. Jordan explains how he met Parker, how they worked together to write this book, and how he feels about how the book has been reviewed so far. Jordan also talks about the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates, the 1989 Oakland Athletics, and Parker's love of the Cincinnati Bengals. Steve starts the show setting up the Jay Mariotti interview. The book club has book by Jon Wertheim and Pete Croatto. The show ends with OLT celebrating Steve's first five years as a father. Released earlier this month, author Lincoln Mitchell discusses "The Giants and Their City: Major League Baseball in San Francisco 1976-1992", when the team was unliked, un-welcomed, and un-winning (that's a thing, right?), not to mention in constant competition with their cross-bay rivals, the Oakland A's. He and fellow author Dave Jordan (author of "COBRA") talk about the team, the city, and why they nearly left not once, but twice.

So today it's New Orleans Corona Virus: Part 1 - the first day of the New Orleans shut down. Even the It's New Orleans Happy Hour podcast is caught up in the global pandemic, though so far all that's happened to us is we have to move off the stage of the Maple Leaf Bar to make room for Dave Jordan and Flow Tribe after they relocated here when the outdoor Wednesday in the Square concert was shut down by the city. So, instead of thousands of people gathering in the sunny outdoors while our small crew meets on the stage of the club, now thousands of people are crammed into the club while our small crew gets to hang out in the sunny outdoors in the courtyard. So, Yay Corona Virus Part 1! Felter goes by one name, like Cher or Prince, who she's the same height as. Felter, like Prince and Cher, specializes in making people feel better. She's a motivational speaker whose contribution to New Orleans Corona Virus Part 1 is coming up with a whole new way to inspire people without catching their viruses. Joe Gerrity's contribution to making people feel good during the early days of New Orleans Corona Virus: Part 1 is selling them CBD. Joe's company - Crescent Canna - makes what he says is not only the finest CBD available but, unlike other local manufacturers, it is actually CBD. Did you know what other people claim as CBD that you're paying $60 a bottle for, is not CBD at all? Now that you'll have plenty of time at home to do nothing but experimental stuff like trying various CBD's you can find that out for yourself. Doyle Cooper's contribution to the sum total of human happiness during the era of New Orleans Corona Virus is substantial. Doyle is the leader of the Doyle Cooper Jazz Band. Maybe you've heard people tell stories of how they got started playing an instrument? No matter how many of these stories you've heard, you've never heard one like Doyle's. It involves parents who are partying their asses off, a stoned baby sitter, and Jazz Fest Crawfish Bread. See photos from this show by Jill Lafleur at our website: https://itsneworleans.com/2020/03/11/new-orleans-corona-virus-part-1/
Sure it's heresy to eat King Cake before 12th Night but Susan Freeswick brings a load of awesome food to this edition of Happy Hour, including King Cake, and gets a NOLA Heresy Pass because it's all Keto from her bakery Everyday Keto to Go. In the middle of this conversation, Susan's Keto Fat Bomb explodes the myth of celebrity. Strictly, it's writer Thomas Beller who explodes that myth. Tom set out to be a rock star, as the drummer in a New York band. Along the way he stumbled into a different kind of stardom: as a staff writer for The New Yorker, the pinnacle of all writing gigs ever, anywhere. Tom describes the night he hung out recently with another superstar writer, playwright Tom Stoppard - the night neither of them had anything to do after the Rolling Stones canceled their Jazz fest gig - and British Tom imagined that New Yorker Tom "must have felt like a dog with five tails" the year he had the New Yorker gig. If you'd like to know what happened to the rest of the guys in New York Tom's band, check this out: https://www.beastiemania.com/whois/cushman_tom You can find Thomas Beller down on Canal Street staring at the crumpled Hard Rock Hotel or at Tulane directing the creative writing course. Singer/songwriter Dave Jordan's take on celebrity is, "Everybody in New Orleans thinks they're a celebrity." Not that they're delusionally believing they're the greatest guitar player of all time like some kind of loser wandering along Hollywood Boulevard, but they claim celebrity of a more totally NOLA nature in claiming they make the best gumbo or fried turkey on the planet - where "planet" ends at the spillway. Dave plays two songs on this show, one off his latest album, Burning Sage, the other a cover of Bob Dylan song that Andrew Duhon joins him on. For his part, Andrew Duhon is writing a new album and premieres a brand new song he's just finished writing with Anders Osborne, called Everybody's Got a Little Piece of the Map. If you're listening to the conversation here about high school drinking and wondering, "What did ever happen to Friar Tucks bar on Freret Street?" this true story might interest you. http://uptownmessenger.com/2011/01/friar-tucks-ceasing-operations-immediately-owner-tells-freret-street/ You may also find these kind of hilarious yelp reviews interesting: https://www.yelp.com/biz/friar-tucks-new-orleans It's new Orleans Happy Hour is recorded live over drinks at The Freret Beer Room. Down Under Sigmar: Episode #8 The Coach (Anthony) & The Villain (Liam) are joined by the reigning defending undisputed Australian Age of Sigmar Master Dave Kerr & Jordan Burgess. In this episode, we chat about switching teams. Dave & Jordan have both successfully come over from Warhammer 40,000 to Age of Sigmar, and we want to know what it's like on the other side. What's it like, what made them jump, what have they learned, what would they like to see in AoS... so many questions!
Author Allen Salkin joins Dave & Jordan to discuss his new Trump book, but all we really talk about is Donald's love of shitty food. Then, in part two of this episode, Jordan sits down with a legendary pioneer of California cuisine, chef Michael McCarty and his son Chas on running the iconic Santa Monica restaurant Michael's, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Robert and Kenny start the show sharing a clip from the Rise of the Planet of the Apes scoring session with composer Patrick Doyle, discussing whether Toy Story 4's slow start should be considered a disappointment and updating the developing Michael Giacchino subtweeting situation with The Batman. Then award-winning composer Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, Justice League, Krypton, Fortnite) joins to tell the story of how Hans Zimmer's The Prince of Egypt soundtrack might have started her journey into the film music world, getting her first scoring gig while working under orchestrator William Ross, writing pop music for another galaxy for Krypton and revealing that her demo for Wonder Woman was heard by Marvel music supervisor Dave Jordan which got her a shot at Captain Marvel. With his expertise in balance sheets, forecasting and the language of business, fellow Villan Dave Jordan writes and tweets extensively about Aston Villa's financial and business fortunes, able to respond to changes in Companies House reporting, amendments, ownership and other movements with speed and accuracy. Now Villa are in the Premier League, there are significant (even fundamental) changes in governance and FFP, so Dave spells out the good news as well as considerations and precautions that we need to know of. Given the popularity of our last podcast in the Championship on these issues, Dave has followed up with a comprehensive new report. Follow Dave Jordan at www.twitter.com/YorkshireAVFC
Dave Jordan joins us on the Villa Trust podcast to fully explain the latest accounts - and why we're still so short of FFP compliance. He predicts the next financial year ahead and assesses what's needed to improve our financial fortunes. Make no mistake, NWSE saved Aston Villa and sooner or later, these businessmen will want to see an improvement in our footballing fortunes - and Villa fans need to appreciate the tough starting point the new ownership begin from.
Robert and Kenny begin the show explaining the crucial role of a “music supervisor” in modern filmmaking, before interviewing Hollywood’s most in-demand music supervisor, Dave Jordan, responsible for some of the biggest Marvel projects and soundtracks of the last decade, including Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther. Robert and Kenny debate several “long overdue sequels/reboots” they’d like to see, including Robert’s “Sit and Deliver” and Kenny’s post-Breaking Bad/Jesse Pinkman spinoff "Science, Bitch!" Then Dave Jordan comes in to discuss his comic book collection and how it led him to a job as the preeminent music supervisor for Marvel films. In The Inside Track, music psychologist Dr. Siu-Lan Tan discusses the role of music and sound design on manipulating audiences, including a fascinating music psychology study. Then Dave talks about his work on Black Panther with Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Goransson and Kendrick Lamar, and delivering an entire soundtrack instead of just a few songs, and the incredible way the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack was born. Lastly, Dave joins us to play a “Famous Movie Songs 2.0” edition of Name That Score, where you — yes, you — could be a winner! Security is not just about the technology; as successful data breaches and cyberattacks continue to rise, we must ask ourselves what's wrong with our training, education and awareness programs. According to the 2017 SANS Security Awareness Report, 54 percent of security awareness professionals expressed that their organization is promoting awareness and behavior change, while 27 percent are simply compliance focused. Lack of resources (58 percent) and communication and employee engagement (30 percent) biggest challenges facing security awareness. In this episode of the InSecurity Podcast, host Shaun Walsh is joined by special guests Beverly Allan, host of the podcast Practical Security Radio, and Dave Jordan, CISO for Arlington County, who discuss how best to deliver effective education and awareness campaigns so that individuals, organizations, and the community adopt and practice effective cybersecurity measures.

On Episode 26 of the BVU Wrestling BeaverCast, we'll visit with Jordan, who is currently the Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Community Choice Credit Union in Clive, Iowa. Jordan was under .500 his junior year in high school before a coaching change at Cedar Falls High School brought him the abilities of Dave Cunningham. The next year, Jordan won a state championship and found himself being sought after by colleges around the state and the region. He settled on Buena Vista because of someone else's trip to the gas station. Jordan has some stories to tell, and not tell, about his teammates from the era.
