Send us a Text Message.Eli Lev promotes the vibe of his music and shows as sounding like “if Johnny Cash and Fleetwood Mac were on a road trip in the redwood forest with Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson in the back.”He's been writing “silly songs” for as long as he can remember, joining bands in middle school and high school and even joining a cover band while living in the European country of Andorra (he's also lived in Israel). In 2017, he received his master's degree in Indiana for English education (he once took a job as an eighth-grade teacher in Arizona), and then moved back home to Maryland to reset.During this time, he took music more seriously as he started playing shows. These shows eventually spiraled into fans who asked about his next shows, which spiraled into recordings, which spiraled into more shows, which resulted in Lev's decision to play fulltime. He loves to travel, as evidenced by the many places he's lived in and traveled to (including Australia and New Zealand). The email from Eli Lev came into my inbox like dozens of new music submissions do on any given day.  This one stood out a bit because the subject line referenced my radio show by name instead of something generic like “new music from singer/songwriter Eli Lev.”  The body of the email indicated that Eli had done some homework and was of the opinion his music would be a good fit for the show. It did not appear to be a completely “cut and paste” email.   I was impressed enough by the professionalism and personalization of the post to click through the entries of his submission.  He was correct…it appeared he was a good fit but still… the interactions we had to set up this appearance were timely and complete.  Eli's back story, as you will hear, is rather unique.  His professional career started as an educator in places like Arizona on an Indian reservation and a corporate trainer in exotic places like the little known country of Andorra in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France… his ability to transfer those organizational and professional level skill sets is serving him well as he leads a lyrical life on the road as a troubadour.  Enjoy my first in what I hope to be an ongoing set of conversations with Eli Lev.

Eli Lev, a return guest to the podcast, just released the 3rd in a 4 album project. He'll wrap the project up with that 4th album in the later part of 2020. He's incredibly inspirational, having done so much in the short span of his music career. He's all about intentions. And I think he found love recently. You'll hear more about that in our conversation. Global citizen and neo-folk singer Eli Lev is making the world a smaller place, one song at a time. Eli pens hymns for everyday enlightenment—songs that resonate because they're heartfelt, earthy, and offer wisdom culled from self-discovery. As I recorded the podcast in December, I asked Eli what he was looking forward to in the New Year. Eli's looking forward to talking about our climate, and what he sees as the big challenge of 2020. I think he feels that it's now or never time. And he has what I consider to be a healthy attitude about the issue. I support him and our beautiful planet. Episode Highlights We start by talking about his first kickstarter campaign and the unique way he organized it. We then go on to discuss: A content-focused approach to building community Developing his 4 album project Self-care in order to maintain momentum Embarking on a duo project with Megan Leigh Raising awareness and action on climate change Key Points Mind, body and spirit alignment supports your career Make use of your superpower Filter out the noise. Get responsible for yourself, your career and your planet. On today’s episode Eli Lev’s spontaneity filled the room where we recorded this episode. The setting could not be more perfect; we sat and recorded this episode at his turf where I always like to do because the artist feels comfortable to talk freely. Eli’s laughter, experiences, storytelling, and interest in inspiring people with his lyrics took me to another level of music experience. When he told me his story and asked all my questions, his eyes sparkled and I realized that he is a different musician. He is a well versed musician. We talked how sometimes great shows and spectacle are lost in a void if you do not know a musician who will give you the cue about that gig or if that musician does not know how to market himself. I can guarantee that Eli Lev is a name that we will hear a lot more in the future and he is a promising artist that will fill the cyber waves with his music. As I upload this episode, Eli had presentations in New York, Virginia and I bet you a six pack of beer that he will be playing across the Mainland before 2018 ends and I bet next year he will be traveling to Europe to play at least in 3 or 4 clubs in Spain, Ireland, or Great Britain. f you never heard about Navajo people, then you should do your assignment. Setting the Intention to Make Music Full Time – Eli Lev My interview with Eli Lev was recording on Labor Day 2018, the US holiday that commemorates hard working Americans. I like to think it commemorates hard working people everywhere. Eli is definitely among the hard working. He's working hard to figure out what it takes to be a full time musician. It appears he's doing something right. Eli introduced himself to me by way of Twitter. After listening to his work and looking at what he's doing on social and the webs, I circled back to ask if he'd like to be a guest on the podcast. Around the time we met, he found this podcast and tells me that it's been helpful for him to hear what other artists are doing and struggle with. That of course warms my heart. He is genrefied as neo folk. He performs solo and with a 5 to 6 piece band called Fortunes Found. Eli says the band got it's name because he feels so very fortunate to have found them. He also says the band is elevating his sound and songs through live performance. Eli is also finding success on Patreon, YouTube and Spotify, all of which we discuss in this conversation. He shares the details of a creative Spotify experiment that has garnered him more plays than anything that's been prescribed by others. He also shares tips on getting started with Patreon, and how he got comfortable with the the camera by posting on YouTube. He's leveraging a small team of experts, growing his community, and doing things by setting intentions. Among his biggest intentions is to release four albums over the next four years. These albums will all be thematically connected by Eli's interest in the four cardinal directions of the Navaho nation. The first one, All Roads East, was released in 2017. The next one will be released this November 2018. Hear Eli's latest single Chasing Daylight at the end of this episode. Eli is well traveled, having spent time in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Isreal, Andora, Spain, France, and Mexico, among other places. His decision to become a full-time musician stems from time spent at a remote beach outside of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was on this beach that he first set the intention to focus his time and career on music. His fallback plan is to teach. Eli has a masters in language education; but he may not need that backup plan. His career is going well thus far, and most importantly–he's happy.

Programledare: Johanna Koljonen.
