As HSPs in business and leadership it’s imperative that we practice intuitive discernment, especially as we navigate the increasingly fast pace of change in the world. We do not have the luxury of time on our side when it comes to making decisions, and the more we strengthen this skill, the more ease we will experience, the more ability we will have to create true impact, and the more income we will create as a result. As a community, we’ve been especially focusing on the art of intuitive discernment inside The Highly Sensitive Training Program over the last few months, and it is incredible the transformations that have occurred as a result. If you’ve ever wanted to get a “peek behind the curtain”, now’s your chance to get a front row seat. Listen in to a recent Weekly Training Round Table I lead along with a 15-year member of our coach team, Lorna, where we engage in an interview-style conversation. We bring you way back to the original 12-week bootcamp I created for HSP entrepreneurs over a decade ago, and we discuss how those trainings evolved over time into what they are today. We share how with the consistent use of intuitive discernment, our program has grown into a comprehensive leadership training curriculum with 8 different training tracks and a library full of trainings specifically created and curated for highly sensitives in business and leadership. If you’ve ever been curious what it’s actually like to use intuitive discernment as an HSP stewarding a 7-figure mission, or what it’s like to be a part of an HSP Coach team, or even better an HSP member of the Business Miracles community, this is one episode you don’t want to miss! “We are wired to defend against change so you have to continuously ingest and direct retraining.” – Heather Dominick Listen and Learn: 2:29: How to work with the Business Miracles trainings 6:37: Why does the Business Miracles course focus on 12 trainings 9:17: How does the course look today and why were these changes made 15:42: Why is the assessment tool important “When we are engaging with the trainings from the leadership tracks it is nourishment.” – Heather Dominick Links and Resources: Get your copy of Heather's book DIFFERENT: http://www.differentthebook.com/ Get your copy of the HSE Training Kit: Survive to Thrive: http://www.shiftfromsurvivetothrive.com/ Get your copy of the HSE Assessment and Success Guide: http://www.myhsetype.com/ Learn more about the Highly Sensitive Leadership Training Program: https://www.businessmiracles.com/highly-sensitive-leadership-training-program/ Learn more about this episode of Business Miracles at https://www.businessmiracles.com/211

Building upon the foundation laid in episode 725, I revisit the first 13 characteristics of highly sensitive individuals, encouraging those who resonate with these traits to embrace their unique experiences. Recognizing the challenges that come with heightened sensitivity is crucial; it's not about something being "wrong" with you but rather about understanding and managing these traits. I explore the subtleties of high sensitivity, starting from the deeply rooted aversion to violence and cruelty, to the emotional exhaustion that can arise from absorbing others' feelings. Each identified trait, such as experiencing time pressure as overwhelming or being easily startled by sudden loud noises, serves to paint a fuller picture of what it means to navigate the world as a highly sensitive person. My goal is to empower listeners by reinforcing that they should not internalize negativity associated with these feelings; rather, recognizing them can lead to essential self-growth and awareness. #Anxiety #HighlySensitivePerson #HSP #EmotionalSensitivity #SensoryProcessingSensitivity #SelfCompassion #Mindfulness #Meditation #AnxietyPodcast #MentalWellness #InnerPeace #ElaineAaron #AnxietySupport #LivingWithAnxiety #HighlySensitive #EmpathLife #DeepFeelings #SensoryOverload #InnerWorldJourney #SensitiveAndStrong #UnderstandingHSP #HSPCommunity #EmotionalWellbeing #SelfCareForHSPs #MindfulLiving #PeaceWithin #OvercomingAnxiety #ResilienceBuilding #EmotionalValidation #AnxietyCoach #GinaRyan #TheAnxietyCoachesPodcast Learn more about your ad choices. I discuss the unique traits of HSPs, who make up about 20% of the population and possess an ability to process stimulation deeply and feel emotions intensely. While being highly sensitive can provide exquisite advantages such as heightened empathy and an acute awareness of details that others might overlook, it also comes with challenges that can lead to feeling overwhelmed in everyday life. I explore the breadth of feelings and responses that accompany high sensitivity, emphasizing the dual nature of these traits. For instance, while heightened empathy can be considered a gift, it also means that HSPs might find themselves emotionally exhausted from absorbing the feelings of those around them. I share insights from notable experts on the topic, including Elaine Aron and Jen Graneman, to reinforce that sensitivity is not a weakness but a distinctive trait that warrants respect and understanding. Throughout the episode, I encourage listeners to reflect on how their sensitivities manifest and how they might identify as an HSP. #HighlySensitivePerson #HSP #Anxiety #EmotionalSensitivity #Overstimulation #Empathy #SelfCareForHSPs #ElaineAron #JenGraneman #InnerPeace #HighlySensitive #HSPCommunity #Empath #Introvert #Extrovert #EmotionalWellbeing #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfLove #Mindfulness #StressRelief #CopingStrategies #PersonalGrowthJourney #InnerStrength #Vulnerability #Authenticity #GentleParenting #SensitiveSoul #TheAnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #ListenNow Learn more about your ad choices. Before A Course in Business Miracles was even an idea in my mind, I was self-employed as a business coach, didn’t know I was highly sensitive and was heading towards a dark night of the soul – and quick. Back in 2009, after six years of working in my own business I was burnt out, massively overwhelmed, exhausted, and overworked. I was questioning what I was even doing in business. But this is exactly what led me to my own business miracle and brought me to where I am today, working with HSPs in business and leadership who are all over the world (creating more impact and income with less effort because of their own business miracles that they have been creating as a result of the work they have been doing in the Highly Sensitive Leadership Training Programs). In this week’s episode, I begin with first defining what exactly a business miracle is, and then I share my own personal journey from burnout in 2009 to discovering I was highly sensitive, to then seeing the connection this had to my spiritual practice with A Course in Miracles. The deep insights I received through all this led to what is now the Highly Sensitive Leadership Training Program where I mentor Highly Sensitives in business and leadership. You’ll also hear two incredible stories from a couple of Business Miracles community members who have created profound business miracles of their own. Both of these stories contain powerful insights that demonstrate how business miracles are not only possible for you too, but are absolutely certain when you are willing to do the real work to shift your perception and do things differently. “If I’m meant to be successful as an HSP and business, then I need a shift in perception. Because the way that I’ve been going about this, through all of the trainings that I attended…programs I had enrolled in were all really designed for someone who’s not highly sensitive.” – Heather Dominick Listen and Learn: 2:10: What does it mean to be a business miracle 2:21: How did the Business Miracles company come about 5:59: What do HSPs need to succeed 7:20: How do Business Miracles clients create miracles 8:50: How to shift out of doubt about Business Miracles 12:40: Which skill do HSPs most need “This is what’s needed for us as HSPs to be able to succeed as someone who is self-employed and as someone who is committed to being a leader and sharing the unique perspective that we have as HSPs in service and support to others and their growth and their wellbeing.” – Heather Dominick Links and Resources: Get your copy of Heather's book DIFFERENT: http://www.differentthebook.com/ Get your copy of the HSE Training Kit: Survive to Thrive: http://www.shiftfromsurvivetothrive.com/ Get your copy of the HSE Assessment and Success Guide: http://www.myhsetype.com/ Learn more about the Highly Sensitive Leadership Training Program: https://www.businessmiracles.com/highly-sensitive-leadership-training-program/ Learn more about this episode of Business Miracles at https://www.businessmiracles.com/210

This post elaborates on the sensitivity research section of The HSP Owner's Guide. Differential susceptibility is a key concept in high-sensitivity research. In simple terms, it means that the more sensitive you are, the more your environment impacts you. As a highly sensitive person (HSP), you might notice that some people thrive in situations where you feel discombobulated. Conversely, when conditions feel right, you may experience more intense joy, connection, and growth than others. It's the idea that some people are more responsive to their environment—for better or worse. For HSPs, this heightened responsiveness is a defining trait linked to their depth of processing, shaping how they experience life. However, it's important to remember that not all HSPs are the same. Sensitivity is just one part of who we are, and how we respond to our environments can vary widely. https://youtu.be/GIIKRuy5TOw What is Differential Susceptibility? Differential susceptibility means that the more sensitive someone is, the more influence their environment has on them. We might think of it like a spectrum of responsiveness. On one end, some people are like sturdy structures, able to adapt to a wide range of conditions without much change. On the other hand, many HSPs are finely tuned instruments that process their environment in depth. This can allow them to thrive in supportive settings but may also make them more vulnerable in harsh ones. For many HSPs, this means they are deeply affected by their upbringing, current environment, and the people around them. In favourable conditions, they may flourish more intensely than others, finding creative flow, experiencing strong empathy, and having deep insights. In unfavourable conditions, they might struggle more than others, feeling overstimulated or drained, unable to utilise the and share the fruits of their high sensitivity. This heightened responsiveness isn't a weakness—it's a unique way of engaging with the world that comes with challenges and strengths. That said, again to reiterate, not all HSPs will respond the same way. Sensitivity interacts with other aspects of personality, life experiences, and individual differences. How Does Differential Susceptibility Shape Our Lives? Differential susceptibility shows up in tangible ways for many HSPs. Here's how it might play out, maybe you recognise your own experiences in these examples: Growing Up: The Impact of Early Environments Supportive Upbringing: If an HSP grows up in a nurturing environment—where their sensitivity is understood and valued—they are more likely to develop strong emotional intelligence, creativity, and resilience. Challenging Upbringing: If an HSP grows up in a less supportive environment—where their sensitivity was dismissed or criticised—they might have learned to hide their true self, leading to feelings of disconnection or self-doubt. For example, imagine an HSP who grew up in a chaotic and unpredictable household. If there is constant noise or tension, that person's nervous system is more likely to be dysregulated, overstimulated and seeking safety from unsafe sources. They may assume the "tiny adult" role, feeling responsible for trying to keep the environment 'in balance' by fawning, people pleasing, monitoring moods (over empathy). But if that same HSP had grown up in a calm, supportive home, they might have thrived, using their sensitivity to connect deeply with others and appreciate life's beauty. Adulthood: Creating Nurturing Environments Favourable Conditions: When HSPs are in environments that honour their sensitivity—like a peaceful home, a supportive workplace, or a close-knit community—they often bring incredible strengths. They may notice what others miss, create spaces of warmth and connection, and approach challenges creatively and empathetically. Unfavourable Conditions: In overwhelming or unsupportive environments—like a stressful job,

Have you ever found yourself in a relationship that started like a dream: intense, exciting, and deeply validating, only to slowly unravel into something confusing, painful, and even toxic? If you're a highly sensitive person (HSP), you may have noticed a pattern: You attract people who seem drawn to your empathy, your kindness, and your deep capacity for love... but over time, they leave you feeling drained, manipulated, or even questioning your own reality. Why does this happen? And more importantly, how can you break free from this cycle? In today's episode, we're diving into one of the most complex and painful dynamics out there: the attraction between highly sensitive people and narcissists. And I'm joined by a powerful guest Marla who has lived through this firsthand. She'll be sharing her deeply personal experience of being married to a narcissist, how she realized what was happening, and how she found the strength to walk away. We'll also explore why HSPs are particularly vulnerable to narcissistic relationships, the red flags to watch out for, and how to set boundaries that protect your peace without losing your beautiful sensitivity. 185 Every marriage needs a foundation of respect to thrive. Yet, in so many marriages, there's a lack of respect. Studies show that men, especially, feel its lack, which tends to take a big toll on the sense of love and connection in that relationship. Why is this so common? Well, for one, it does not always come naturally to be respectful. And, as women, we may sometimes shy away from giving our respect to our spouse because we have a misunderstanding of what it looks like when it comes to intimate relationships. Or we wait for them to be more loving first. So, in this episode, let's:Clear up the misconceptions about what respect looks likeClarify exactly what many women do that leads men to feeling disrespected (it can be less obvious than you may think)Discover why, if your partner is feeling disrespected, it is hurting your whole relationship and making it harder for you to feel loved, too Learn about why it matters so much to cultivate respect–especially if you are married to a man.And get 10 specific things to do and ways to communicate to build more mutual respect– and ultimately love– into your marriage. If you want to feel more loved, and even like a treasured queen, you want to start leading more respect into your relationship. Visibility and vulnerability (V&V Energy) is a powerful skill for success as a highly sensitive in business and leadership, yet it can be a tricky one to master. On one hand, it’s direct connection to our HSP shadow of overprotection can have us running for the hills and avoiding it all together. On the other hand, we can make the mistake of sharing unprocessed stories as a way to vent, elicit sympathy, or give an excuse for not taking the actions we need to take to create what we say we want. Both lead to a lack of creating genuine connections – the heart of HSP business and leadership success. Yet, a trained HSP who turns to energy management first as a way to process their emotions and experiences can then embrace true V&V Energy and harness it as a way to create deep meaningful connections with those they are here to serve. In this episode, I share how I came to develop this teaching on Visibility and Vulnerability . I open up about how early into my journey of discovering that I was a highly sensitive person, I came to recognize that many of the women I was coaching were also highly sensitive. And through working with them, I saw a common pattern of these clients not being willing to be seen for their true selves. This pattern of avoidance led me to explore what was needed in order for HSPs to harness V&V Energy as a leadership skill that is so needed in the world right now. Listen in as I dive deeper into what it means to be in true V&V Energy as a trained HSP, and stay tuned until the end for some inquiry questions to help you put a core practice in place that will support you in developing this leadership skill for yourself. “Your ideal client is a version of you.” – Heather Dominick Listen and Learn: 3:25: What is visibility and vulnerability 4:57: Why are visibility and vulnerability important to highly sensitive people 6:01: When and how did the teaching on visibility and vulnerability develop 10:59: How to practice visibility and vulnerability energy 11:35: What does visibility and vulnerability look like as a core practice 15:14: Can an untrained highly sensitive person make good use of the visibility and vulnerability practice “We need to consciously cultivate a sense of self created safety in being willing to be seen for who we really are. Ever find yourself apologizing just for having feelings? Congrats, you're officially emotionally constipated—yes, that's a thing. It happens when you stuff your emotions deep down until they burst out at the worst possible moment (hello anxiety, meet embarrassment). This delightful cycle is extra fun if you're an HSP, by the way. Here's an idea: stop shoving your sensitivity into a corner like it's misbehaving. Feelings need regular release, or they'll make your life awkward real fast. You're allowed to let it out—no apologies needed. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
