These concepts are fundamental parts of our daily experiences and the choices we make. Sometimes they seem inconsequential, but other times they're like mighty sagas that dramatically alter our spirit. Acceptance and rejection can fully alter the way we view ourselves and each other. They can dictate our outlooks, shape our expectations, and transform the way we interact with the world.Separately and together, these are experiences that forge tremendous amounts of resilience, strength and growth within us. We engage in avoidance and numbing behaviors to escape how we're feeling (overeating, over drinking, overspending, over-working, over-consuming TV or social media) 2. Judging our feelings. 3. Blaming things or people for how we feel. 4. Bypassing our emotions. I'm joined today by Emotional Empowerment and Wellbeing Coach Daniel Dzikowski to talk about ‘letting go' of stuck emotions. This is something he introduced me to when we first met at an event and I was really intrigued to find out more, so I invited him on the podcast to explore it! Early on in our interview I became aware that understanding this was something that was going to take full concentration and I had to step out of ‘interviewer' mode and into the role of ‘curious questioner'. Although there's a lot of cross over between the two, there were moments where it felt a little too disjointed and that perhaps we ought to start again, but then it just felt natural and conversational and so I decided to just keep going. Daniel explains the process and benefits and how it's possible to separate out stuck emotions from the story we tell ourselves about them, and I've since gone on to do a session with him which was incredibly powerful. In last week's episode, we discussed Empowering Ourselves and Others by CHOOSING rather than believing we HAVE to. This week: Emotional Empowerment. What is that? We have the ability to CHOOSE our emotions and act accordingly. We often give other people the ability to dictate how we feel by saying things like, "They hurt my feelings." No one can control how you feel without your consent. That is up to you. How do we emotionally empower ourselves then? First, we recognize the emotion. Second, we respond by allowing it, processing it, and using our senses to help us. And third, we choose our response and move forward. Join in this episode as we discuss all the ways we can cope with emotions, why we have them, what it means to be "past feeling" and more!
