In this special Veteran's Day episode, I get to talk with Lt. Colonel Lisa Jaster. Lisa was one of the first 3 women to pass Army Ranger School. We get to take you through Lisa's journey in her book, "Delete the Adjective." Throughout the book, Lisa is faced with numerous situations that I think we'd all agree were less than ideal and fair. My take away from my conversation with Lisa and her book, is that life isn't going to be fair, period. Waiting for the situation to be fair wastes valuable time that you could be devoting to achieving your goals. Lisa's resolve to complete Ranger School is admirable and gave me a new perspective on how much we can accomplish if we just roll up our sleeves and get to work. I hope you enjoy this episode. https://deletetheadjective.com/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/orangeshoe/message

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6 finally shows the one and only, Boba Fett in the spotlight. We see Boba return and eventually help Din Djarin and Grogu against Moff Gideon's Storm Troopers and Dark Troopers (phase 2 I think), who end up taking Grogu. Fennec Shand reminds me a lot of Zam Wessel from Attack of the Clones, who was pursued by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, until Jango showed up. We also learn a lot about Jango Fett, Boba Fett's Father. We learn that Jango Fett was a Mandalorian! This is awesome! Since it was skewed in canon, it's nice to know we finally have an answer. They seem to be following his story from Open Seasons comic book series which shows the story of Jango as a boy. Long story short, Jango was the son of a farmer on Concord Dawn. A man named Jaster Mereel who was leader of the True Mandalorians, was on the run from a traitor named Tor Vizsla from Death Watch. Jango's dad hid Jaster Mereel in his farm, and told Jango that he was feeding some homeless men. When Tor Vizsla came looking near Jango's Dad's farm, he found Jango's Dad and beat him up infant of Jango, until Jango's mom created a distraction and Jango ran for his life, leaving his parents who were immediately murdered, Fett ran into Jaster Mereel who eventually took the boy under his wing and recruited him in the Mandalorian Civil War against Death Watch, as one of the True Mandalorians. Jaster died eventually and Jango avenged him, becoming the leader of the True Mandalorians. Explaining this to Din, Din accepts that the armour belongs to Boba. So this armour, is just repainted from his dad's, from Jango's. The deal is done, says Din, where Boba assures him that it is not, as he promised the safety of the child in return for his armour. Now Boba joins the crew until the child is safe. Flying in the Slave 1, they arrive on Nevarro 7, where Cara Dune is now a New Republic Marshal, where he asks her to locate Mayfeld, who you might remember from season 1. Mando is going to spring him out of jail to locate Moff Gideon's cruiser. We jump to Moff Gideon's light cruiser, he walks to the cell containing the child. As Moff Gideon enters, we see Grogu using the force on stormtroopers. Even going as far as using force choke, to which many might think is a dark side move, but, I should mention, Luke Skywalker used it as well in Return of the Jedi, and he was far from the dark side. As Grogu knocks them out, Gideon steps up to him and ignites his dark saber, asking Grogu if he remembers one of these, meaning if he remembers using a lightsaber or having seen many lightsabers during his time as a Jedi at the Jedi Temple before Order 66. Grogu is tired, I think because he had to cut himself off from the force for so long that he isn't used to using it as much as when he was at the Jedi temple learning from the many masters. Using the force can also tire one out, like it does to Luke in the empire strikes back when failing to lift the x-wing out of Yoda's swamp. They blast Grogu with a stun blast, and cuff him. Gideon tells his officer to contact Dr. Pershing, the cloning doctor responsible for the experiments on the child, to tell him that they have their donor. The plan now is for Gideon to kill Grogu to harvest all of his blood which has force powers, or in Star Wars lingo, a high Midichlorian count. Boba is back and badder than ever, as Terry Silver would say. I think the next episode will revolve around rescuing Mayfeld from Jail, and then tracking the light cruiser or going to Dr. Pershing who will have the child momentarily. I think the season finale will end in a Big Bang all out battle like end game. With everyone we've seen from this season fighting together against Moff Gideon and his dark troopers, as he himself gets in a phase 3 dark trooper mega suit to destroy Din. Hopefully Ahsoka Tano returns with Bo Katan, and we get to see another Jedi, Luke or Ezra is my guess. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We got confirmation that Boba Fett's dad, Jango Fett, was recanonized as a mandalorian foundling. Now in the episode, Boba shows proof that his armour has belonged to him and his father for a long time, for 25 years it's been in his possession alone, as he ignites the hologram on his wrist which now has been decoded by a Star Wars fan on reddit, so all credit goes to Kinneroth and everyone else who confirmed it in the comments from his finding. Now I'll explain what the code means: so here's the code we got, and here's what it actually read - foundling, confirming Fett was brought into the mandalorian creed via other mandalorians, Fett was born on Concord Dawn, his mentor was Jaster Mereel, where as here it's cut off as Jaste but we can assume the last letter is an r. Father is Jango Fett and the armour belongs to Boba Fett. Jango was a foundling on Concord Dawn, a surrounding world in the Mandalore sector. Now the people who found Din, were death watch, so the two clans have always been waging wars against one another and have varying beliefs. Now this means that the armour is like a ranking system, and it only helps that the coding proves he is the rightful owner of it, passed down from generation to generation. That means he's the rightful leader of House Mereel, who was the leader of all the Mandalorians before the civil war. This would grant Boba a high clan status, as definitely clan fett, but also, clan Mereel, as Jaster Mereel was avenged by Jango Fett and his rightful heir, who then took his mentor's place, becoming the ruler of mandalorians. the right to rule once again as the leader of Mandalore, and as such, to claim the dark saber for himself from Moff Gideon. Well, this comes to how Jon Favreau will write the story for Boba. Maybe the right to rule Mandalore isn't something Boba even cares for, as he said, he's just a simple man making his way through the galaxy, but if they do decide to elaborate on the whole clan title, then theoretically, Boba would have a rightful shot as the ruler of Mandalore, since his dad was, and his dad's mentor, aka, his adopted father sort of before the mandalorian civil war. Now what I think could happen, is that there are two scenarios based around this theory. The first being, Boba dies in some last effort to save Grogu as per his promise to Mando, and in doing so allows Bo Katan to get a clear shot at Moff Gideon, killing him and taking the dark saber, owing her ruling of Mandalore to his sacrifice. Or, he straight up beasts Gideon and kills him in a trial by combat. Jango killed tons of Jedi in his hay day, this is why Dooku convinced palpatine to choose him as the Clone template for the grand army of the republic. The guy had skills unlike anyone else and he proved it time and time again. That whole incident of him dying to Mace Windu, was because of the jet pack he had that got crushed by the Reek in the arena on Geonosis. Otherwise, he would have stood a good chance at killing Mace, at least better than what happened. If you didn't know, he tried to acitave his thrusters at the last second, but they were broken due to the beast's attack, resulting in his death. Learn more about your ad choices. Ranger School is the premier leadership development program in the US Army for tactical level leaders. It's also the most grueling physical, mental and emotional challenge a Soldier can face. Many will try; but only a few will earn the coveted Ranger tab…a designation that for decades could only be sought after by male soldiers. In this episode, Fran Racioppi brings back fellow Ranger LTC Lisa Jaster; the third female to ever graduate from US Army Ranger School. Lisa is now the author of Delete The Adjective, A Soldier's Adventures In Ranger School. Lisa shares her journey as she failed each phase multiple times, only to request to try again. They talk about the importance of setting standards based on the requirements of the job instead of what we think a gender is capable of achieving. Fran defines the importance of a never quit attitude while Lisa shares her quit criteria. Adjectives live all around us, but only when we choose to use them to describe us instead of define us, is when we truly are ready to lead no matter the challenge. It's no secret; the pandemic kicked off the great resignation. Organizations in all industries scramble for talent to fill open positions. One sector of vital importance in dire need of skilled workers to fill a talent pipeline in cybersecurity. A 2022 Cybersecurity Workforce Study concluded that the global cybersecurity workforce gap has increased by 26.2% compared to 2021, leaving a void of 3.4 million jobs. The threats to global infrastructures and organizational networks are never-ending, and without a fully stocked cyber workforce, those threats create untold damage. The question on Ron J Stefanski's mind: is there a talent pool waiting in the wings to answer the call, and what are today's disruptors doing to find this talent and bring them into the cybersecurity space? Two disruptors answered the call and joined Stefanski on DisruptED to talk about talent and to get the right people onto the bus.Mark Jaster, Founder & CEO of FOUR18 Intelligence Corp, and Marlena Sessions, CEO of NOVAworks, spoke with Stefanski about the situation.“The problem we are faced with today is there are way too many cyberattacks for our resources and our ability to defend them,” Jaster said. “We don't have enough people, we don't have enough knowledge about what's happening, and it's happening in real-time, incentivized by the payoff that the attackers have when they succeed.” Stefanski, Jaster, and Sessions discuss the following:• Developing talent to match job seekers• How to create skills to increase the talent pipeline in cybersecurity• Finding people who may not be thinking of a cybersecurity role but who could be great candidates“At NOVAworks, we are stewards of our taxpayer dollars,” Sessions said. “We don't say ‘no' to any job seeker. Anybody can come in. I could find myself out of work or a laid-off mid-level career professional, but we do focus on certain areas of folks who might have been historically excluded.”Mark Jaster is a growth strategist and innovator with a deep skill set and unique methods for solving the most complex problems of innovation strategy and product adoption in complex markets such as information systems, medical devices, biotechnology, and enterprise risk management. Jaster holds an MSE in Engineering Design & Management from Stanford University and a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.Marlena Sessions has over two decades of experience working to change lives. Before her role with NOVAworks, Sessions was the Executive Director for San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board, worked in leadership roles for Grant Associates, and led the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County as the COO and CEO for seventeen years. She holds her BA in History/Political Science from Whitworth University and her MA in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.

Today on The Casey Adams Show I sat down with Jordon Rooney. Rooney, has always had an entrepreneurial mindset. A native of New Castle, Pa., an hour northwest of Pittsburgh, he played defensive back for nearby Westminster College before graduating in 2012 and heading overseas to play professionally in Serbia and Poland. He then founded his nonprofit, Never Fear Being Different — which works with youth and other nonprofits to amplify social impact — in 2015, before joining law firm Pond Lehocky Giordano as its director of digital marketing in 2018. Rooney left that role in 2020 to found Jaster, which seeks to amplify athletes' brands through strategy and content creation, and Built Different Creative, a separate marketing agency geared toward companies rather than athletes. Jaster Athletes represents seven college football players for name, image and likeness deals, but Damar Hamlin is the agency's only pro client. He was also its first client; when Hamlin entered the NFL Draft in 2021, he approached Rooney about being his marketing rep. Rooney agreed, taking it one step further by making Hamlin an equity holder in Jaster upon its launch that year. Tune into today's conversation as we discuss the future of NIL deals, building your personal brand as an athlete, and being by Damar Hamlin's side during his recent injury. Mettle of Honor: Veteran Stories of Personal Strength, Courage, and Perseverance
When you delete your adjectives, who are you? Most people limit themselves to their labels. They embrace barriers based on the box that society puts them in. But your adjectives aren't your destiny. In "Delete the Adjective: A Soldier's Adventures in Ranger School," Lisa Jaster proves your merit should always trump your labels. Lisa Jaster is an American Soldier, combat engineer, and one of the first three women to graduate the elite United States Army Ranger program in 2015. One of the most difficult combat training courses in the world, Lisa was the first reservist to complete the course. She graduated at age 37, while the average trainee age is 23. Lisa, an athlete focused on strength training and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, has a deeply rooted understanding of the importance of perseverance through continual progress and growth, as well as an ingrained respect for camaraderie and selfless service stemming from a noteworthy active-duty career (including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan). She volunteered for combat training when she discovered the Army Ranger course was being opened to women for the first time in 60 years as a U.S. government experiment to see how women would fare in the notoriously brutal program. 6ers, in business and in the military, vulnerability is often seen as a weakness. For leaders, it is seen as a liability because they are expected to be quick to act and perform at a higher level than others leaving time for emotions in the dust. But to be an effective leader, you need to be authentic which means you need to access your vulnerable, inner world. This week, Tony Nash is joined by Lisa Jaster, a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, a public speaker, an engineer, and an athlete. As a leader, you need that tactical pause to use the powerful tool of vulnerability to empower you and your team. EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/combatstory Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! I use NordVPN myself so you're in good company (and I know security). Today we hear a unique Combat Story from Ranger-qualified and former Engineer in combat Lisa Jaster who was the first female reservist to complete Ranger School…at the age of 37 with two kids! Lisa is still in the reserves and recently rotated out of Battalion Command where she led Combat Engineers as she did early in the post-9/11 era as a young active-duty lieutenant, including in 2002 in Afghanistan, 2003 in Iraq, and back to Iraq 15 years later. Her story is remarkable and highlights how much harder she worked to reach levels many others take for granted. She's a West Point grad and stood on the shoulders of the brave women who came before her in breaking the barrier of women at the Academy only to break a similar barrier herself. Beyond being a sought-after public speaker, accomplished entrepreneur, and part of retired DEVGRU Mike Sarraille's Talent War Group, Lisa is also a competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter and CrossFit athlete and is getting ready to release her first book that describes her journey. This is a phenomenal and wide-ranging interview with an accomplished, tough-as-nails Ranger and I hope you enjoy her story of perseverance as much as I did. #army #military #veteran #rangers Find Lisa Online: - Instagram @lisaajaster https://www.instagram.com/lisaajaster/ Twitter @lisa_jaster https://twitter.com/lisa_jaster Book Page for “Delete the Adjective” and contact https://deletetheadjective.com/ Find Ryan Online: - Ryan's Linktree https://linktr.ee/combatstory - Merch https://www.bonfire.com/store/combatstory/ - Instagram @combatstory https://www.instagram.com/combatstory - Facebook @combatstoryofficial https://fb.me/combatstoryofficial - Send us messages at https://m.me/combatstoryofficial - Learn more about Ryan www.combatstory.com/aboutus - Intro Song: Sport Rock from Audio Jungle Show Notes: 0:00 - Intro 0:56 - Guest Introduction (Lisa Jaster) 2:29 - Interview begins 2:42 - A passion for Brazilian jujitsu 6:06 - Being an unconventional Military couple and making sure her son can fight 10:06 - Childhood as a naturally driven person and where the military comes in 14:55 - Funny story of Army interview 17:16 - Going to West Point and and choosing Engineer Branch after graduating 27:37 - What is Engineers and their role in Afghanistan 2002 33:24 - Where were you on 9/11? 41:06 - Story about combat patches 45:01 - How an engineer prepares for deployment 47:48 - Family and feelings before and during a dangerous deployment 53:47 - "There's no book for this" and funny story of trying to communicate with Pakistani man 55:27 - Building the airfield in Afghanistan and funny story about constructing the sewage pond 58:27 - From Afghanistan to Iraq and being an SME as a First Lieutenant 1:06:42 - Processing difficult experiences and how jujiostu helped 1:09:33 - Ranger school 1:21:17 - Advice for someone wanting to go to BUD/S or Ranger School 1:29:04 - Hell Week at Ranger School and being in the first ever class with women 1:43:57 -Mixed emotions on graduating Ranger School 1:47:48 - Full circle moment meeting author Carol Barkalow 1:51:36 - What's the first thing you ate coming out of Ranger School? 1:52:46 - What did you carry into combat? 1:55:08 - Would you do it again? 1:57:11 - Listener comments and shout outs This video covers the following subjects: - First Female Reservist Ranger School Graduate - Ranger School - Combat Leader - Combat Engineer Lisa Jaster Maj. Ranger School, and the Ranger ethos have defined military leaders, and leadership in general, for over 70 years. But until 2016, the opportunity to earn a Ranger qualification was limited only to men. In this episode, host Fran Racioppi is joined by Lisa Jaster, one of three women to attend the first integrated Ranger School class. Most attendees of Ranger School are in their 20's, men and and from the Infantry or Special Forces. Lisa graduated at 37 years old, a mother of two, a woman, and an engineer. She also faced the utmost mental and physical challenges of resilience as she recycled every phase of the course; being forced to do every exercise again. We highlight the difference between those who say and those who do; the importance of physical preparation; the optionality of quitting; and what it means to truly build an organization on uncompromised standards. Lisa shares her three C's of leadership, what it means to #deletetheadjective when it comes to women leaders; and how leaders must earn respect every damn day. Ranger School graduates, Fran & Lisa also show us how the Ranger ethos can be applied to any organization. Rangers lead the way!Read the full episode transcription here and learn more on The Jedburgh Podcast Website.Highlights:-Explanation of the leadership lessons taught and learned in Ranger School and how they are needed in any organization. -How living by the six stanzas of the Ranger Creed create world class leaders. -Fran and Lisa bond over the shared pain and suffering of Ranger School and the differences in their experiences while attending the school.-Physical fitness is a controllable aspect of our lives in that we ourselves directly determine how fit we are. Being in a higher state of physical fitness allows us to focus our mental capacity on other challenges we face. -Lisa challenges all organizations and leaders to create one standard and hold everyone accountable to it; there should not be women standards and men standards. -Fran asks Lisa to describe her 3 - C's of leadership and how displaying them on a daily basis will set us apart.Quotes:-”If women are even in the discussion that we can be capable leaders, then to deny us access to the Army's most rigorous leadership course would be saying the opposite.”-”Can I add value without taking away the shine.”-”I've been constantly competing against the status quo, against the norms, against the nay-sayers.”-”Always be prepared also includes always being willing to do what you need to do to reach your goals, to be a creative thinker, to think outside the box.”-”We often forget when you have an under-represented population that the over-represented population is also affected by these changes.”-”You can't let the quit in...if it's not in your head it's not there.”-”When you are not winning, you are learning.”-”A title helps me understand what you do for a living, but it doesn't help me respect you.” -”Once you lose respect words have no meaning and you have to start rebuilding from the foundation up.”Lisa's Three Daily Foundations of Success:-Write down must dos and want to do's (having a plan)-Executing the plan vigorously (conduct the plan)-Adapt the plan (change the plan when needed)
Pastor Nate and Bryan Jaster (Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Bethany) sit down to share some thoughts about what happens next. How does the church move forward after a pandemic? What does scripture tell us about living through difficult times? Theologically speaking, what might our approach to the future look like as people of faith?
This week, Stan and Chris sat down with Lisa Jaster, a US Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel and Engineer, and one of the first three women to graduate Ranger School. While most candidates go to Ranger School in their 20s, Lisa was 37 when she graduated from the Army's grueling 62-day training course. Lisa reflects on the role of women in special operations, how fitness is key to her lifestyle and leadership in the military and private sector, and how she refuses to "let the quit in" when facing adversity.

Hello everyone, welcome to Episode #27 of the “Spotlight Podcast: Success Stories for Veterans” where it is our job to breakdown and analyze Titans in both the military and civilian communities to discover their tactics, mindset, and systems so that you can apply them to your life, and your transition. Those titans range from NYT best-selling authors to former heads of state, to other divergent thinkers who dominate their field by challenging conventional wisdom. Today we are interviewing Lisa Jaster. Lisa was also a 2015 Ranger School graduate, and I discovered Lisa through her work with the Talent War Group. I invited her to come to the show because I was impressed by how many projects she is working on while still performing at a high level. On top of everything else she does, Lisa is still serving as a reserve engineer battalion commander. Lisa also walked away from a lucrative career in Houston to take a risk of pursuing the life she really wanted. That move has opened the opportunity for Lisa to work on her #1 Project #DeleteTheAdjective. So how does Lisa do it? Listen and find out.
In 2015, West Point graduate Lieutenant Colonel Lisa Jaster became the first female reserve Soldier to graduate the iconic US Army Ranger School and was among the first 3 women to do so. There is just a bit more to her than that however. From a small town in Wisconsin, she had a call to serve early on as her father was also a West Point attendee and served 3 tours as an Officer in Vietnam. Fresh off a first place finish in her age group in her first ultra trail marathon, Lisa describes a few other moments in her career along the way. Hear her unique story about 9/11, the early years in Afghanistan and Iraq, the types of men and women America needs in combat today, and just how she found herself in the US Army's Ranger school. Delete the adjective, not the bourbon. Grab a glass.

At 37, Lt. Col. Lisa Jaster was not only one of the first women to graduate the Army’s grueling Ranger School, she was also 15 years older than most of the students who went through. Six months after getting a buzz cut and entering a course that had never had a female graduate, Jaster would become the Army’s first mom with a Ranger Tab. She talks about her new “Delete the Adjective” campaign, her obsession with strength and fitness and what she still wants to accomplish in her military career. And be sure to learn all about her Ranger School achievement at Military.com.

How many women do you know are graduates of Army Ranger School and have harvested a beautiful bull elk? Lt. Colonel Lisa Jaster sits down and has a great conversation with me about her time in the US Army and Army Reserves. She and I discuss how important the outdoors is in our life and in our families lives. We also talk about men and women in "traditional roles". Her platform "delete the adjective" is one that she is passionate about. We discuss how we all have our differences but we all have some commonalities as well. Is it necessary to talk about us saying "she is a female hunter"? Or to say "he is a male hunter"? Same for the military..."she is a female soldier". It is a double emphasis on gender instead of what you are truly defining. I am grateful for Lisa and her conversation. Let us know what you think!
In October 2015, Lieutenant Colonol Lisa Jaster became the 1st Female US Army Reservist to don the coveted Army Ranger tab. Phenomenal story of dedication and perseverance! On our first podcast from The Buildings Show 2019 in Toronto we have Michal from Tilt Wall talking about old school concrete building. We are excited to hear what Michal has to tell us about this 100 year old technique of forming and pouring walls on the ground and then tilting them up into position. Michal and Len are passionate about bringing this technique to the Canadian market and proving that a concrete wall is a better wall and we agree. We get right into the R values, the mechanical runs, the structual points, subfloors, roofing, cladding and mariachi bands. Listen to this amazing show and we are confident you will learn a few things. Please reach out to Michal and the great folks at Tilt Wall for any questions you might have. In 2015 at the age of 37 Lisa Jaster became only the third woman to graduate from U.S. Army Ranger School, which 36 percent of students fail within the first four days. Join host Michael Harris as he speaks with artist John Jaster. John is a part-time painter living in the Southern California mountains. He used to do a lot of painting and drawing years ago but drifted away over time. Although his degrees are in computer science, he never stopped exercising the right side of his brain. John re-engaged with the craft of painting a few years ago when his lovely wife bought him an easel for Christmas. Each new painting he attempts brings a new learning experience. “I paint with heavy acrylics. My paintings tend to be on large canvases with bold colors in hi-definition. One can identify themes of water, blue skies, and automobiles and Americana throughout most of my work. I describe my format as 'realistic impressions' because, although my work is definitely in the realism genera, I have splashes of impressionistic colors throughout.” To read the CAGO Newsletter, visit www.ContemporaryArtGalleryOnline.com and click on the CAGO Media tab.
