A gallon of gas costs about twice as much in California as it does pretty much anywhere else in the United States. The reason why, of course, is that California makes it cost about twice as much – by reducing supply and by adding costs, chiefly for “environmental” reasons. This includes a new requirement – going into effect very soon (Dec. 31) that all gas stations must either replace single-walled underground storage tanks or permanently close them – no matter whether the tanks are actually leaking and no matter how much it costs to replace them. It is estimated that about 473 gas stations in California are going to close – because the owners cannot afford the mandatory underground storage tank upgrade costs or the $5,000 per day fines for non-compliance. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA), the authors of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump last month, announced their intention to bring charges for inherent contempt against Attorney General Pam Bondi.  Under the rarely used congressional power, “the House or Senate has its Sergeant-At-Arms, or deputy, take a person into custody for proceedings to be held in Congress,” according to the National Constitution Center. However, it is unclear how effective this would be in the face of legal challenges and the executive branch's power. This is the latest in an escalating saga of threats, with Massie and Khanna claiming the DOJ has not complied fully with the law due to redactions in the files and not releasing every document available. Trump to replace nearly 30 career diplomats in ambassadorial positions with ‘America First' allies The U.S. chiefs of mission in at least 29 countries were informed last week that their tenures would end in January 2026; all of them had taken up their posts in the Biden administration The Trump administration is recalling nearly 30 career diplomats from ambassadorial and other senior embassy posts as it moves to reshape the U.S. diplomatic posture abroad with personnel deemed fully supportive of President Donald Trump's “America First” priorities. All of them had taken up their posts in the Joe Biden administration but had survived an initial purge in the early months of Mr. Trump's second term that targeted mainly political appointees. That changed on Wednesday (December 17, 2025) when they began to receive notices from officials in Washington about their imminent departures.  How Trump shifted America's policy in a week Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President, although they typically remain at their posts for three to four years. Those affected by the shake-up are not losing their foreign service jobs but will be returning to Washington for other assignments should they wish to take them, the officials said. To put context to it, these creeps have had four years to strategize how to control Trump and manipulate policy with their retention of all sorts of government agencies in alignment with the status quo.  Yet, remarkably President Trump is dancing through their deep state minefield while keeping dozens of plates spinning on sticks.  The use of non-traditional emissaries is really making them angry.  , the use of emissaries outside the govt framework of traditional policy was going to be a key facet in any America-First agenda. The Deep State does not like President Trump's use of emissaries to conduct foreign policy.  In fact, they oppose it strongly; they hate it. The “emissary” is the person who carries the word of President Trump to any person identified by President Trump.  The emissary is very much like a tape recording of President Trump in human form.  The emissary travels to a location, meets a particular person or group, and then recites the opinion of the President.  The words spoken by the emissary, are the words of President Trump. The IC cannot inject themselves into this dynamic; that is why it is so valuable. The emissary then hears the response from the intended person or group, repeats it back to them to ensure he/she will return with clarity of intent as expressed, and then returns to the office of the presidency and repeats the reply for the President.  The emissary recites back exactly what he was /is told. This process is critical when you understand how thoroughly compromised the full Executive Branch is.  More importantly, this process becomes even more critical when you accept the Intelligence Community will lie to the office of the President to retain their power and position. Community activist and organizer Leo Louis II has spent nearly two decades turning pain into purpose. From roles leading the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation and in the documentary film “My Omaha” he shares why, after decades of struggle and service, he is doing the work he was born to do.Louis has experience in various disciplines including gang intervention, urban farming, entrepreneurship, public speaking, fatherhood, facilitation, and more. More educated than ever. More present in the workforce than ever. And somehow… more exhausted.My guest today says this isn't a contradiction. It's a data point. Dr. Corinne Low is a Wharton professor and an economist. She is the author of the new book, Having it All: What Data Tells Us About Women's Lives and Getting the Most Out of Yours. She has spent the last 15 years studying how women actually live — how we work, how we partner, how we parent, and how we divide time and labor inside our homes. And what her research shows is uncomfortable: while women's careers have evolved dramatically, the structure of marriage and household labor has barely changed since the 1970s.In this conversation, Corinne walks us through the data behind why modern women are so tired, why the mental load remains stubbornly unequal, and why cooking, cleaning, caregiving, and the invisible work of running a household still fall disproportionately on women — regardless of who brings home the bigger paycheck.We talk about why “fair” isn't always the right goal — and why sustainability, nourishment, and evidence-based decision making matter more. In this Week 3 Advent message on Joy, we turn to Isaiah 55:1–11 and hear one of the most generous invitations in all of Scripture: “Come, everyone who thirsts.” This sermon explores what it means to receive joy not as something we manufacture or consume, but as something that flows from communion with God. Set during Advent, this message reminds us that most of our prayers are actually Advent prayers. We pray for hope, peace, joy, and love in moments of suffering, anxiety, loneliness, and exhaustion. But instead of sending us quick fixes or temporary solutions, God gives us Himself. He does not merely provide joy—He is joy. He does not simply send peace—He is peace. Using Isaiah's imagery of water, milk, and wine, this sermon invites us to examine what we are truly thirsty for. Are we longing for refreshment? Nourishment? Delight? And where are we trying to satisfy that thirst? Isaiah challenges a self-sufficient, busy, consuming people—much like us—to slow down, admit our need, and stop spending our lives chasing what never satisfies. This message also confronts the cost of constant consumption. When we live from our own provision rather than God's, we may look successful on the outside but feel empty on the inside. As the sermon unpacks Isaiah 5 and Isaiah 55, we are reminded of a sobering truth: the more we consume, the less we commune. And yet, God's invitation remains wide open. Rather than a checklist or spiritual self-improvement plan, this sermon emphasizes God's initiative. He draws near first. He provides first. He invites us to live from His abundance, not our striving. From that place, Isaiah offers four simple but deeply challenging practices for seeking the Lord: calling upon Him, confessing and returning, humbly trusting His perspective, and allowing His Word to nourish us. The promise at the end of Isaiah 55 is breathtaking. When we live in communion with God, joy and peace are no longer things we chase—they are realities we are led into. Creation itself responds. Landscapes change. Lives are transformed. If you are tired of living from your own strength, if your joy feels depleted, if you are thirsty but unsure what for, this message is for you. You are invited—not to do more—but to come, receive, and live. Founded in 1898 on 240 acres of farmland donated to the state, Massillon State Hospital opened its doors under the name Eastern Ohio Mental Asylum. Its first patients came from 21 Ohio counties.  At its peak in the 1950s, the hospital housed more than 3,100 patients and employed roughly 365 staff — part of what many regarded as one of “the most beautiful institutions in the world.”  But as treatments and mental-health policies evolved, the massive institution began to shrink. By the mid-1970s many patients were transferred out, and over decades the facility gradually shifted identities — eventually becoming Heartland Behavioral Health Center.  The origins: how farmland donated by early settlers became a state asylum. Lives within the walls: personal stories, struggles, and survival in a sprawling mental-health institution. The rise and fall: how peak expansion gave way to decline, changing mental-health philosophies, and shifting societal attitudes. What remains today: the buildings, the memories, the legacy — and the efforts to preserve or repurpose pieces of its history. Join us on a journey through time, memory, and healing.
