I don't know about you, but this time of year is HARD for me.I've never been a fan of winter - I also live somewhere that gets super cold, so I look forward to warm weather and summer even more!I also know how difficult it can be to stay motivated during these cold, winter months. I personally struggle with seasonal depression, and sometimes that makes it even harder to want to commit to my fitness goals. If you can relate, today's episode is for you!Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do to help with motivation during the winter. One of the most helpful things you can do is plan ahead, and set clear goals during this time. Visualize what you want to look AND feel like in the upcoming spring and summer months, journal about it, and/or put it on your vision board! While I always recommend you follow a set workout plan/routine, this can be a great time to try some new + different workouts. Find a friend to work out with, too!Since you're most likely inside more, this can be the perfect time to experiment with some new recipes, and even refresh + brighten up your workout space. I KNOW the cold weather makes it harder to stay active. Motivation can for SURE be a struggle, but at the end of the day, this is your health, and your LIFE. This shit is NOT optional, so you need to figure out a plan for your fitness, and take action. You'll be sooo glad you did when warmer weather arrives!!In this episode, we cover:My ongoing struggle with seasonal depressionTips to help you with ‘finding' motivation during the cold, winter monthsChanging up your workout routine + trying different workouts that interest youExperimenting with fun + creative recipes at homeHow to stay focused on your long-term goalsRefreshing + ‘brightening up' your workout spaceLinks/Resources:Listen to the Sol Fit PodcastEp. 138 | How to Reward Yourself on Your Fitness JourneyJoin FIT CLUB, my monthly membership with workouts you can do at home or the gymPRIVATE COACHING is my 1:1 program (choose 3 or 6 month option)Connect with me on Instagram @kristycastillofit and @unfuckyourfitnesspodcast so we can keep this conversation going-be sure to tag me in your posts and stories!Join my FREE Facebook group, Unf*ck Your FitnessClick HERE for my favorite fitness & life things!Send me a text with episode ideas or just to say hi!
QFF: Quick Fire Friday – Your 20-Minute Growth Powerhouse! Welcome to Quick Fire Friday, the Grow A Small Business podcast series that is designed to deliver simple, focused and actionable insights and key takeaways in less than 20 minutes a week. Every Friday, we bring you business owners and experts who share their top strategies for growing yourself, your team and your small business. Get ready for a dose of inspiration, one action you can implement and quotable quotes that will stick with you long after the episode ends! In this episode of Quick Fire Friday, host Michael Denehey interviews Mike Michalowicz, author and keynote speaker, and discusses his revolutionary Profit First methodology. Highlighting the pitfalls of traditional profit models, Mike shares actionable insights on prioritizing profit to transform businesses and improve financial health. His approach is based on channeling behavior rather than discipline, offering solutions that resonate with small business owners globally. A standout success story involves a struggling horse farm in Australia, where adopting Profit First not only turned profitability around but also strengthened the owners' personal relationships. Other Resources: Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine Key Takeaways for Small Business Owners: Prioritize Profit First: Flip the traditional profit formula from "Sales - Expenses = Profit" to "Sales - Profit = Expenses." By setting aside profit first, you ensure your business operates within its true financial means. Set Up a Profit Account: Create a dedicated bank account for profit. Even allocating just 1% of your revenue to this account builds the habit and ensures consistent profitability over time. Automate Cash Management: Use Parkinson's Law to your advantage by allocating funds into specific accounts (e.g., profit, owner's pay, taxes). Automation minimizes temptation and ensures disciplined cash flow management. Our hero crafts outstanding reviews following the experience of listening to our special guests. Are you the one we've been waiting for? Reward Yourself as the Owner: Separate your wages for working in the business from profit, which is your reward for taking the risk of starting and running the business. Celebrate even small victories to stay motivated. Profitability Over Debt Dependency: Profitability is the key to eradicating debt. Allocate a portion of your profit to pay off debt while rewarding yourself with a small percentage to maintain morale. Start Small, Start Now: Don't wait for the perfect moment to implement change. Begin with small, manageable steps like opening a profit account and allocating a small percentage of revenue. Gradually scale up as you adjust to the system. One action small business owners can take: One action small business owners can take, according to Mike Michalowicz, is to set up a profit account and allocate at least 1% of every revenue deposit into that account. This simple step helps build the habit of prioritizing profit and ensures that, over time, your business will start to accumulate funds for growth and financial security. This action doesn't require changing your business operations but establishes a crucial financial discipline that can lead to long-term success. Do you have 2 minutes every Friday? When you think about rewarding yourself on your fitness journey…what comes to mind?Maybe you're excited to go out and celebrate at your favorite restaurant with your family and friends, or..maybe you're excited simply because you're noticing beneficial changes happening within you. Regardless of how you like to reward yourself when you reach a new goal or milestone on your fitness journey, there's not a ‘wrong' way to do so!This is a topic that's come up recently with several of my clients, so I knew I wanted to dive into it more here. When we're talking about rewards, there are extrinsic rewards (tangible or external), and intrinsic rewards (intangible or internal). Many people are motivated by extrinsic rewards; a typical example of this would be celebrating by indulging in your favorite foods and drinks. You could also treat yourself to a spa day, splurge on some new workout clothes or shoes, invest in more personalized coaching, or even a meal prep service. If you're not as motivated by external rewards (this is me!), you may not care about winning a ‘prize', or buying something new. Things like trying a new hobby or skill, feeling more confidence in yourself because you're seeing positive progress, or simply growing as a person because you're stepping out of your comfort zone may be the MOST rewarding for you!I personally feel sooo much joy when someone reaches out and lets me know they love the podcast. Knowing that my message and what I'm sharing here is helping you is much more fulfilling than me winning a major award for the podcast (of course..that would be pretty amazing too)! Whether you're more of an extrinsic or intrinsic reward person, this isn't a ‘one-size-fits-all' type of thing. There are plenty of ways to reward yourself without derailing your progress on your fitness journey + having FUN too! In today's episode, How to Reward Yourself on Your Fitness Journey, we cover:Choosing to practice more kindness and empathy towards each other, instead of spewing judgment and hateExtrinsic rewards vs. intrinsic rewards + why there's not a ‘wrong' way to reward yourselfFun ways to celebrate/reward yourself that don't involve eating or drinkingIdeas for the person who is more motivated by intrinsic rewardsWhy it's important to recognize + celebrate personal growth on your fitness journeyLinks/Resources:Join FIT CLUB, my monthly membership with workouts you can do at home or the gymPRIVATE COACHING is my 1:1 program (choose 3 or 6 month option)Connect with me on Instagram @kristycastillofit and @unfuckyourfitnesspodcast so we can keep this conversation going-be sure to tag me in your posts and stories!Join my FREE Facebook group, Unf*ck Your FitnessClick HERE for my favorite fitness & life things!

Day Three of the workshop is the day of projecting into the future and really looking after ourselves, to seek clarity that will then enable us to have better things to come into our lives for 2023. On this last day of the workshop, participants will go back to the score that they got from the Quiz on Day Two and just be in the place with their scores that they got. Like this is your score now but there is so much potential to expand it. Just like the first two days, Patricial will be picking up cards for guidance and reading the energies from the cards. For the main Activity for Day Three, everyone will go through the Nine Areas of Life again and think about what three things that can be done in 2023 that would improve the percentages on each of the nine areas. Of course, you will not miss the usual meditation and the calling in of angelic support and divine spirits for guidance. This is a rather long episode, but that's because it is a workshop. Take heart to listen to the very end, to be able to set your intentions in 2023. Enjoy! Highlights of the episode… Introduction of the theme for Day 3 of the workshop - A day of projecting into the future. Pulling up the first card from the Earth Warrior Oracle Cards - the Deer, and reading the energies of the card of which the vision is about not compromising yourself in 2023. Doing the healing process from the second card, the Elk Wisdom card. Picking up card from the little cards for guidance. (First card is the Samhain card, the card of new beginnings. Second card is Reward Yourself and the third card is the Start Card.) Going back to the Scores from the Quiz on Day Two and reflecting on it. Activity Proper: What are three things that you could do in 2023 that would improve the percentage on each of the nine areas? What are Action Steps for each of the three things? The next step is writing down your intention and the feeling of being at that new level for December 10, 2023. Doing the activity for the Health Area. (Patricia gave examples of action steps for Health including self-love and self care, e.g. drink more water, attending yoga classes, etc. and what to write ) Doing the activity for the Career Area. Doing the activity for the Love & Marriage Area. Doing the activity for the Money & Prosperity Area. Doing the activity for the Family and Community Area. Doing the activity for the Fame & Reputation Area. Doing the activity for the Travel & Helpful People Area Doing the activity for the Spirituality and Personal Development Area Doing the activity for the New Beginnings, Fertility and Creativity Area What is the common denominator or that WORD that will describe your feelings for 2023? (e.g. relieved, safe, content, happy, etc.) Writing a letter or a pep talk basically to yourself about the year ahead. Patricia thanked everyone who had joined her for the three-day workshop and the pre-advise that the doors will be open for Power House soon. The final Reflective Exercise and the Meditation. In this week's episode, we're going to be looking at my top 10 tips for better performance. This is something that has really come about after people asked me what I do in my daily routine. Things that I do, things that I take, any rituals that I have. And I just wanted to share some of the things that I've been trying out and some of the results that I've achieved. I always like to focus on how I move my energy forward, how I build a better day and how I design my diary for my dreams. Here are the highlights: (01:56) Create time for nothing (04:07) Track your mood (08:43) Cut down on drinking alcohol (10:01) Declutter and organize (12:51) Think about your morning routine (15:40) Have a vision (18:35) Reward Yourself Connect with Dawn Instagram @dawnmcgruer and @businessconsort Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dawnamcgruer Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/businessconsort/ Web: www.dawnmcgruer.com
Some days you'd rather be in bed watching Netflix, going surfing, or skiing, than picking up the phone to make client acquisition (revenue generation) calls to increase business revenue. It happens to the best of us, even those of us that love our business. When you feel uninspired to tackle that to-do list, try one or more of these 10 tips, I'm about to share with you, to ramp up your motivation level and be productive again. 1. Get Digital. In today's digital world, there's an app, podcast, or video for everything, including motivation. According to American Express's blog on motivation, commitment trackers such as Stridesapp or Beeminder can give you that extra push to keep up with your long-term and short-term goals. The article also suggested writing the goals down on pen and paper for extra focus, and I certainly agree with this, and all my clients have their specific long-range and short-range goals written down. 2. Set Milestones. Working on a long-term goal can seem endless at times, which results in a loss in motivation. Setting smaller milestones to hit along the way keeps the motivation level up and gives you something to celebrate along the journey. As soon as you break up a large project into smaller tasks, you can start checking them off your list and feeling like you are getting the job done! 3. Reward Yourself. Give yourself something to work toward and acknowledge tasks when they are completed. When you hit a milestone, treat yourself to something. It could be a latte at Starbucks, a movie, a massage, or a new pair of shoes. Whatever makes you happy, this type of incentive is effective in maintaining motivation for both you and your team. 4. Walk Away. For those times when you just can't get focused, take a break from your desk and get a change of scenery. It could be a cup of coffee at the local coffee shop or a walk around the block. Changing your environment might refresh you enough to get back into it with a fresh perspective when you return to your desk. 5. Brainstorm. Carve out a few quiet minutes to sit down alone and let your mind go. Think about ways to grow the business, get new clients, improve your marketing materials and efforts---wherever you see a weakness in your business, think about a solution to it. How can you prevent the competition from getting ahead of you? 6. Think Positively. Sometimes, inspiration can be hard to find at work, but there is no room for negativity when it comes to staying energized. Positive affirmations can increase your motivation. Say what you are trying to accomplish aloud or write yourself a note that says, ‘I can do it!'. In addition, knowing that what you do in your business helps people in some capacity can up the motivation factor. 7. Get Feedback. Be open to constructive criticism. Sometimes it is hard to accept that a client has moved on to another company but understanding the why can help you build an even better business. Chances are, if one client has an issue with something, others might too, and you will be able to work on the problem and stay motivated to improve your business. You can also get feedback from peers, members of your mastermind group, or a mentor. Sometimes having outside eyes on something, can be very beneficial. 8. Find Inspiration. What you do outside of work can inspire you at work too. Spend some time reading industry news to see what others are doing. Check out blogs and articles posted by other companies within your industry. This widens your knowledge of what other companies are up to, while keeping up on the latest trends. Plus, doing something that is productive but not related to the task at hand just might end up motivating you more. 9. Fake It. There are just those days when you have to fake it ‘til you make it. If you muster up enthusiasm and a let's do this attitude, you'll find that you will be energized, and most likely will motivate those around you. Sometimes you just have to put your big girl or big boy pants on and deal with it. 10. Set Your Hours. It might be tempting to burn the midnight oil in order to get a project completed, but it usually ends up backfiring if continued for a long period of time. You'll end up burning out much faster than if you work at a steady pace. A 20-hour workday isn't sustainable and will not be productive. Set the hours you plan on working for the day and then turn off the work when it is time. You'll feel more refreshed when you begin work again the next day. You might even consider taking a half day off on Friday to “play hooky” will get you rejuvenated. No one feels motivated to work every single day, all day long. When you feel a motivation slump coming on, try to assess why and then choose one or more of these ten tips to help get you back on track to achieving your work goals. Fear and doubt come in so many forms, including imposter syndrome, self-deprecation, and holding yourself back in other ways. We're here to talk about how to overcome these things in the workplace. Kat comes from a position of normalizing fear and doubt and accepting them as a part of the human experience. How do we recognize fear and doubt? Awareness and acceptance. It's about “oh -- I recognize this! It's fear and doubt!” and then allowing ourselves to address and combat those thoughts to take away the power we give to them. We have to normalize the human experience and be prepared to move forward despite fear and doubt. Fear can be a good thing, a warning sign to watch out. If everyone is optimistic all the time, sometimes we miss the warning signs that a devil's advocate or pessimist may bring. Hearing our fears allows us to see what could get in our way, so that we can deal with it. Our responses to fear and doubt are personalized. Some people thrive on stress and others hide in corners. If you're avoiding your fears at all costs, what's that doing to your career? Some people use adrenaline to fuel their work, and others work systematically to avoid that last-minute stress. Today we're sharing several coping strategies for fear and doubt. The best one we know is first to calm down -- to step away and take a 5-minute break, or at least a few breaths to set your head right. We talk about box breathing (inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, wait for 4), and other breathing techniques. Remember, feelings aren't permanent, and acknowledging them takes their power. We also tend to tell ourselves stories that aren't always true. Ask yourself what you know, acknowledge that you're feeling fear and doubt and WHY you're feeling it, and take that power back to help yourself move through it. Liz likes to ask, “Can I control this?” If the answer is no, you can't engage with the fear because you have no control over it (e.g., if your company gets acquired), but you can think of best-case scenarios instead of worst-case. Sometimes fear is an indicator of excitement. Ask yourself, “Am I afraid or am I excited?” Often new and/or growth opportunities bring up fear and doubt, but when you can acknowledge that you're excited about the growth that they will produce, you can lean into those feelings and push yourself towards learning. When something feels huge and scary, break it down into pieces to make it more manageable and plan out how to make it happen. Do your best, understand your resources, and know that if you aren't 100% successful, it's ok. Mistakes are learning opportunities, and when we learn from mistakes we're actually stronger than if we're always successful. Think of batting averages or VC wins/losses….nobody hits home runs 100% of the time. When you combat fear and doubt and take risks, REWARD YOURSELF. Give yourself the acknowledgment of getting to the other side. Not necessarily with a designer wardrobe, but maybe an ice cream or a mocha. Make sure to reward yourself with a job well done. Whatever works, do more of it. When you're in a state of stress, it's important to sleep, eat well, and take care of yourself. By taking care of yourself, you'll set yourself up for success. Decisions need to be aligned to values and what's close to your heart. Using your must-have list and values to make decisions will help guide you towards opportunities. Liz introduced a term: name it to tame it. When you can identify the feeling, it loses some of its power. And if you can name it, understand it, and then talk yourself through it, you're able to move past the fear towards a goal. Liz gave an example of sending her kids to camp vs hiding them in their rooms after an anti-Semitic incident. Women disproportionately succumb to fear and doubt, feeling like they can't go for opportunities. Ask yourself, “what do I need to do now?” or “how can I make this happen?” For every 100 men promoted to manager, 80 women are promoted, according to a study by the consulting firm McKinsey. We're here to encourage you to move yourself forward. Sometimes we worry about current job performance and the ability to be successful in something new. Often people, especially women, won't raise their hands if they don't feel 100% able to take something on. If you're feeling it 70%, GO FOR IT! We think about L'areal Lipkins and her vision boards from Episode 54 (https://realjobtalk.com/54-envisioning-2021-with-lareal-lipkins), what excuses you're making, and what you can do to make those excuses go away. Make sure your people, your friends, and the colleagues you hang with are positive, helping, and encouraging. Surrounding yourself with people you admire can help you try new things and having role models helps you to aspire to grow. Liz and Kat use each other as sounding boards to evaluate new decisions. Sometimes trying new things takes practice; find what tools work for you. Remember, the most successful people have overcome Imposter Syndrome. For proof listen to our episodes with Amy Lewis (https://realjobtalk.com/12-imposter-syndrome-with-amy-lewis) and Joep Piscaer (https://realjobtalk.com/51-imposter-syndrome-joep-piscaer)). We all know the dreaded feeling of call resistance - that innate fear of picking up the phone; of being rejected. Here’s a step-by-step plan to get you into action: Schedule it in: Put it on your calendar! Get yourself in the right mindset: Get over that fear of rejection by visualizing a positive outcome. Remember you’re there to help people! Prep ahead of time: Make as many calls as possible without putting the phone down. Batch your work: Get your calls over within a certain time period Move your body around:: Keep that energy and positivity going, and your clients will hear it! Call people you know aren’t going to answer first: Get in the groove. Be very comfortable with your script: Get comfortable with your script so you don’t sound scripted Give yourself a time limit: don’t do anything else until you are finished; shoot for little chunks with breaks in between. Turn off your mind & take action: just do it! Reward Yourself! Have a great week!Jessica Magoch © JPM Partners, LLC

Today on the 20 Minute Fitness podcast we are getting into a topic that many of us struggle with, which is motivation. Three Things You Will Learn1) Social Power That Will Keep You PushingOne of the greatest sources of motivation comes from your friends, family and sometimes even people who you don't now. An app that builds on this social power is BodySpace.BodySpace is a social fitness app run by bodybuilding.com and has a big community of health & fitness enthusiast users. After creating your profile and inputting your personal data, the app lets you connect with like-minded people from their community. Within BodySpace you can follow your friends, make new workout buddies and gain some inspiration from other users' stories.Listen to this week's episode and learn more about BodySpace aka "the Facebook of fitness apps" and how it will provide you with the motivation you need!2) Reward Yourself & Others As You MoveAnother amazing way to motivate yourself can be through rewards. Rewarding yourself for every bit of exercise you do and knowing that there's something tangible you'll receive for your hard work will definitely push you to your limits.Sweatcoin is an app that helps with setting up this reward system. All you have to do is sweat and they'll pay with their digital currency for it. The prizes you can spend your digital currency on vary all the time and of course for greater achievements there're greater rewards. A bit of a different concept but also built on a reward system is Charity Miles. The main difference here is that with Charity Miles, you're moving for a charity of your choice. After each minute of exercise, you'll earn money and donate it to one of their 40 charity partners. The motivation with this app doesn't only stem from the thought of helping others, but also from reading all the inspiring stories that Charity Miles' users share with the community.Press play and hear more about how Charity Miles works and how its users have already raised over $2.5 million!3) Where to Look For Greater Accountability All the amazing apps out there are great if you only need a little push to do that extra burpee every day. However if you're struggling with more significant health and/or motivational issues, you might need to look for something more scientific. This is where health & fitness gadgets, different wearables and trackers come into the picture. Once you start using any fitness tracker, you'll get exposed to a wide array of data that will present you with the truth about your daily activity. You can use this data to see where you're currently at, set SMART goals and track your progress against them. But if you're not a big fan of the dry numbers approach, you can also call an AI health coach for help. Lark is "the leading chronic disease prevention and management platform". It is designed for people who might be facing more serious health issues, such as type 2 diabetes. With Lark's AI coach, you'll be connected to an sms line through which you can receive motivation and advice 24/7. This way you can get the instant feedback and recommendations that won't let you lose your focus on harder days that you may have. Listen on and hear more about why Lark is such a great platform for those who need a real push to put the effort into their health & fitness progress!

Ready to Positioning Your Business to Profit? Go to-->>> http://positioningtoprofit.com/Patty: Well, Hello there, my legacy leader. This is Patty Dominguez here with another episode for you. This is episode number seven. I'm sharing some quick tips on how I'm staying on track with the objectives that I want to achieve with this year. And I hope that they help you to. Here we go.Everybody Patty Dominguez here, Happy New Year! Once again, I thought I would check in with you for some tips to help keep you on track to achieve those goals are the objectives that you're looking for. And there's nothing better than getting organized. And it doesn't have to be as daunting as we set ourselves up to be. Once we say, Oh, we want to lose 500 pounds, or we want to make a million dollars in our business, or we want to publish the books. It can be very simple when you chunk things down. And so my intention for this is just to share some tips that I am gathering as I'm going through my own process of staying on track. Now, one of the things that I got it I just got into a mastermind this year in 2019 with a mentor of mine and he passed out one of the planners, it is incredible it is called the Phoenix planner. And what I thought was really great is that it's starting at a very macro level and this is very much in relation to how I'll go into a consulting situation or coaching is that I really take that 35,000 point view to really get an understanding of what is it that that person that business is looking for.And so tip number one is really about writing the vision of what you want your future to look like. And at a minimum, does it for the year look back as if it were December 31. I talked about this in the last episode, and think about where you want things to be for your yourself, for your business, for your personal life, professional life, etc. And so that is really key to keeping you on track. Because when you have that vision, and you write it out, you push through that fear of saying, Oh, that's absurd. No, it does not write it down. As you may know, it means so daunting but it is absolutely important that you put that into place. Another thing, start small, don't get overwhelmed with the idea of that big goal. Set your goals that you're more likely to stick with. Look over that calendar at the beginning of the week. I always write out my week on Sunday for what I want for that week. Coming up as, we're going into Monday. So I set my time on Sunday night, I actually schedule it, like go through my planner, I take a look at what I want to achieve for that week, start small see where you can fit in the things that are most important to you like the daily meditation or maybe a date night or perhaps your exercise regimen schedule it. If you don't schedule it, it won't happen. As far as I'm concerned. That's the way I operate. If it's not on my calendar, it's not going to happen. And so it's easier to stay on track with a realistic and specific goal. And plus, the truth is, you're less likely to get discouraged and quit altogether when you start small. So just chunk it up into week at a time putting those things that especially focusing on self care and the things that make you happy or that bring the focus that you need as you're headed into your work week.Tip number two is that you want to create an action plan as with anything you know my deal I'm all about strategy. You want to have a strategy for your success. So you want to take a look ahead of time of where you, Where are the stop gaps? Where are the temptation things? Where are the things that could possibly sabotage where you may fly off the wagon, right?Because temptation is all around us. And it can be in terms of getting you off track with your meal planning or not exercising because it's easy to just say, oh, I'll do it later. Just be honorable be in integrity. Or if you're looking at the be creating a habit for let's say, a morning routine, don't hit that snooze button instead, you know, get up and do what you said you were going to do. So these are the things about creating a plan. When you have a planner and you're putting in the days of the week and you're writing down exactly what it is you want to do. That's really critical to make sure that you are not giving into temptation.Of course, you also want to focus on the habits, right, so creating those habits and not just focus on the thing that you want or the outcome, listen. Creating new habits can be difficult at first, but over time, and I heard, so there's varying degrees of this, but I heard that it takes 100 days to create a new habit. Some people say it takes two weeks or three weeks, I don't know.I don't necessarily know how long it takes, I go with 100 days, you know, at first; it's going to be tough. But after a while, the habits start to become a habit, it starts to become a part of your everyday and starts to become second nature. And so the deal is, in order to form a habit, you have to be consistent. That is the magic with anything that I have seen, or I have specific people in my life friends that I have that are massively successful. Why? Because they take consistent action every day in and out over time, and they don't compromise that. And so they're very much in integrity, right. And in order to make those long lasting changes, you have to be consistent and sort of it just being a short term fix. Just be consistent.Another tip is make it fun. Right? So find out what works for you so if you're more likely to go to a spin class like I don't know spin class that you go to because a friend of yours is signing up get it done. I like going to Soul Cycle I know that I'm motivated to go when a friend comes with me you know it turns into a fun event as opposed to something that is a drag to go to I have several friends who love that peloton bike because they like the interaction the gamification side of it. That is ways to make it fun.And of course when you have an accountability buddy in place somebody that you're held accountable to. I remember when I was training for the marathon many years back one of the things was I would meet a friend at the trail on specific days to go for my run and I knew that I was accountable to her so I would get up no matter what the time in order to be at the trail on time because if it wasn't for her, chances are I wouldn't have gotten a 10 so make it enjoyable having that accountability buddy is huge. And here's where I'm really bad. Here's the next tip. Reward Yourself. I don't even think about rewarding myself. And this is something that I'm implementing in in this year is celebrating successes. Right? Maybe it's a spa day or treating yourself to a massage or treating yourself to an awesome pair of shoes. What is the reward when you achieve that goal? Think about it. Well, write it down. Don't just say it or think about it, write it down on your calendar so that you could keep your eye on the prize. Because here's the deal. It is really rewarding. When you have something which will look forward to eventually you're going to find that the benefits that you receive from staying on track with your you know, resolutions or your goals or the objectives that you are looking to achieve. They're just way more fun when you have a reward at the end of the line. So reward yourself because you're worth it.And there you have it. These are the tips that I'm just thinking about jotting down hopefully they help you today let me know what you think about the habits or the rewards or the things that are helping you through as you are staying committed to your own objectives and your own goals for this year because you're worth it. All right, thank you. See you in the next episode. We'll see you next time. Thank you so much for being here.
Chris Tate sets out the reality of full time trading and what sets his financial thermostat and Louise Bedford shares how to handle a windfall profit. Chris Tate FULL TIME TRADING is an easy thing to say but a difficult transition to make. And whilst full time traders are internally directed there are a couple of things to watch out for before taking the leap. 1.Under capitization There is an old Wall Street saying “Scared Money Never Wins.’ If you are dependent on the next trade to put food onto the table you are going to generate a host of errors along the way. 2. Structure How do you structure you time, your day, your finances? How do you pay yourself? Boring things like this have to be worked beforehand because once you have made the move - it is too late. Chris’ advice: Have big goals with money – and with good grace of hard work and all your ducks lining up you will achieve them. How does Chris set his wealth thermostat? The markets are the facilitator of the life he wishes to lead and his inspiration comes from the knowledge that money buys him experiences and freedom; it is only dependent upon his effort. Louise Bedford - Mindpower Handling an unexpected windfall profit that exceeds your expectations can be tricky. The learning that comes about from making a huge profit can be just as painful and revealing as the learning that comes about from a loss. If you have a win, the most important thing to do is REWARD YOURSELF. You must create a feedback loop where your subconscious seeks further rewards. Caroline Stephen - Who Am I Guess this trading legend in this Who Am I segment. I'm loving bringing this show to you. The feedback has been phenomenal.

This is episode 148 of the Absolute Mind podcasts and today I am covering mentally preparing for weight loss. http://www.absolutemind.co.uk/freeanxietycourse Please do bear in mind that we have created this podcast to be of some insight and some sort of assistance but by no means a way to treat conditions on their own. If you do have any deep-rooted conditions or ailments that you'd like some assistance with on a one-to-one professional approach, then please feel free to contact either myself or Michael on Facebook or directly through the website and we can arrange sessions that way or via Skype, whatever suits. Ok so mentally preparing for weight loss! I have decided to cover this topic because its something that I have struggled with in the past and having spent year after year on faddy diets and doubting myself or hating myself because I "couldn't" lose weight. It's only now after losing weight and keeping it off and understanding more on nutrition that I can look back and see that although I thought I was ready and prepared to lose weight all those years ago in fact I wasnt! Mentally I was not prepared. So if you have decided that 2018 is your year to lose weight then you need to get mentally prepared for it! This time of year is when most people have a spike in their motivation levels to lose some weight, you've probably spent most of November/December enjoying food, relaxing a little and telling yourself its fine ill diet come January, Summers not that far off now and Bam January is here you thought you were ready but something just hasn't clicked internally and you're struggling to leave the starting blocks? Now experts say that long term weight loss starts in your head, they say that having the right attitude can help you to think yourself thin. If you want to be succesful in your weight loss regime first things first you need to cut the mental fat. How Can You Cut The Mental Fat? Firstly look at patterns and habits in your lifestyle, what do you do that are dragging you down, getting in the way of your success? Everyone has their own excuses in life and when its comes to improving your health most people will do swimmingly until something happens that knocks them off course things like work, family issues, relationships and so on we are a nation of emotional eaters and when something happens we comfort ourselves with food, we tell ourselves things like "oh its ok to eat unhealthy because im stressed it helps me to cope" but really? Does eating unhealthy help you to really cope? Are you an emotional eater? Be Patient This is something I was never good at, I always wanted result too quickly and wanted too much! Its part of our society now to have instant gratification with instant messages, digital cameras (no more waiting for the negatives to be done) weight loss is for most people too slow to satisfy our need for that instant gratification. We want instant results, when in actual fact how long did it take you to gain excess weight? It wasnt over night so how can you expect to lose weight quickly? But i'm sure you have all heard the term slow and steady wins the race, slow weight loss is better. If we lose weight too quickly its generally water weight or lean tissue and not the body fat we want to lose. Ways To Start Thinking Thin Picture yourself thin - This is something I use a lot in hypnosis allowing the subconscious mind to visualise being thinner, healthier, happier but you can do it consciously too! Picture yourself say 6 months from now or a year from now and think of how good you will feel fitting into the clothes you desperately want to wear, being able to do activities without getting uncomfortably out of breath. If you've been the size or weight you want to be get pictures out and put them somewhere that you look everyday as a daily reminder of what you are working towards. Think back to when you were that size what did you do differently then to what you do now and what could you incorporate again. Be Kind To Yourself - Being positive about yourself can have a drastic impact on how you feel. To break old habits you need to be able to see yourself in a positive light. Realistic Expectations - Whenever I ask somebody how much do they want to weigh I ask them to think realistic and think about what is attainable for them. I spent years hoping to be a UK size 8 and around 8 and a half stone but now I know that is no where near attainable for me! I've finally come to an agreement in my own head that i'm happy at a UK size 10 and around 10 stone, at this weight and size I feel comfortable in my own skin. Set Smaller Goals - Something I have done many times before is set a goal that feels too far away or completely out of reach, but when I broke it down to smaller bite size manageable chunks it felt that it was something I could achieve and not just a dream. These small goals should be things that you can do easily without completely taking over your life things such as eating more veg, drinking more water, moving more, It doesn't need to be solely focused on how much weight you need to lose. Have Support - It's always better to do something with a partner or friend, and this goes for dieting too. If you have the support around you it doesn't feel as difficult. When we have support for example a gym buddy or diet buddy we suddenly become accountable to that person, we don't want to let them down if they turn up to the gym and we don't, or if they've stuck to their diet and we haven't. Having support takes away those opportunities for excuses. Studies show that dieters who have support do much better than those who do it alone. Plan - The saying "those who fail to plan, plan to fail" is so true! planning your meals the night before or on a Sunday evening for the week ahead is 80% of the battle. Make your health a priority just as you would any other plans and schedules you have. Reward Yourself - Give yourself some credit, even if its a 1lb loss give yourself a pat on the back! as mentioned previously we love gratification and feeling good so its important that with every milestone or every weight loss, or physical health improvement we reward ourselves, whether that's a pamper session, or a new pair or trainers, whatever you enjoy reward yourself with it. Try New Things - And by this I mean ditch those old habit and create new ones! You need to make changes to see changes and by doing new things you will see results so instead of sitting in front of the TV watching your favourite soap get up and move! Try to look at your behaviours and habits that are stopping you from losing weight, tell yourself you do have time, you have time to prep, you have time to exercise there is 24 hours in a day and to plan your meals will only take a fraction of that 24 hour period, working out will take maximum 1 hour! what things do you do that take 1 hour that you could ditch or swap for exercising instead? Have A Diary - Track your success, when you are losing weight its too easy to lose track of where you started. You may have an off day and not feel as fit and healthy as you did and fall of track but being able to look back from where you came can instantly help to give you the motivation boost you need. Have FUN - Yes last but not least have fun! make this journey fun, do activities that mentally stimulate you so if you enjoy exercise with music on get some good headphones and crank the music up, if you prefer exercising in groups join some local groups, whatever you can do to make this whole thing fun then do it!

Without change, there is no growth.-Bud Malmstrom Click Below to Listen to Today's Show Insert Podcast Link Here If you want to be different. . . My best friend and martial arts Sensei, Bud Malmstrom, uses this saying in his classes often. Every living thing changes, or must change, for without that change there would be no growth. A seed must change to be come a tree. A fruit must change from a bud, to a flower to the fruit. Without that change we just have plants, leaves. But, we wouldn't have that if the seed didn't change. We must change as people if we want to grow. We must change if we want to change. If you want to be different than you are today, you have to do things differently than you did before. Your goal is to lose weight, let's say. Regardless of your WHY, you must change something you were doing before. The best way to learn what you can or need to change it to start by journaling your day. Start with waking up and finish before you go to bed. (Do before you start your Magic 30 Minutes of the Goal Achievement Success System Mental Bank program). When you journal, try to be as specific as possible and complete as possible. If you sit on the couch after work for an hour, watching TV, having a glass of wine or a beer to relax and snacking on some chips or pretzels before you get up to start dinner.... Don't forget to enter that. When you complete a week start looking at the activities that you do each day. What times do you eat anything. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any and all snacking. How often are you snacking and what are you eating for those snacks. How many drinks are you having that have alcohol in them. Why am I concentrating on what you eat? It will be much easier for you to change your eating habits when you get started than it will be to change your activity habits. If your goal is to lose weight, what you eat is 80% of the work you will have to do. That's the biggest issue that we have in being overweight. Let's look at what we can change on this list. What are you snacking on during the day? If you remember MY DOCTORS recommendations, I was allowed 200 calories for snacks during the day. You can snack, but you will want to limit your snacking to the right foods. Snacking is often a bad habit we have created as a response to a trigger. I talked about this and how to change your bad snacking habits in Episode 9 of Goal Getting Podcast titled Taming My Tiger. If you can't find it on iTunes, you can go to GoalGettingPodcast.com/episode-9 and click the link in the Show Notes Page at GoalGettingPodcast.com/s2e13 to listen. I discussed above a scenario that many of us have encountered. Tired from work, we have a beer or some wine and snack on chips or something like that. Both of these choices are full of unnecessary calories, especially before preparing dinner. Each drink is between 110 - 300 calories. The chips or other snack food is likely as much or more, depending on the quantity you eat. If you can change that one habit when you come home, you will reduce your calorie consumption by 300-1000 calories each day. That is a big change and a big step forward toward the goal you set. Review your eating habits. When does your Tiger go on the prowl? Tame Your Tiger and reduce the craving for those high calorie snacks. Make that little change that you can control. When you do it, Reward Yourself with something (non-food related). Buy yourself something. Treat yourself to a movie, but stay away from the popcorn and candy. You can make the small changes and it will help you grow. Or, in the case of a weight loss goal, help you shrink, physically but grow emotionally and mentally when you realize how successful you have been. Ce * le * brate Good Times, Come On! Celebrations are important. People celebrate when their favorite sports teams win the championship. Since I moved to San Francisco, the San Francisco Giants have won 3 World Series! THREE, that's 3, World Series Championships in 5 Years! San Francisco knows how to Celebrate their victory! I have had the pleasure of attending the second World Series Parade. They come right down Market Street, right next to my office where I work. We are so close, we can look out most of our office windows and watch. This was my first World Series Parade I have been able to attend. I missed the first one by a couple weeks and I was home sick for the last one. I had to watch it on TV. I'd like to celebrate here now! We received this great review on iTunes: Clarifies Goal Setting in iTunes by RPaxman It’s obvious that Tony has spent a lot of time thinking about goal setting. He has a lot of experience working with large corporations and executives in this area. If you are having trouble coming up with your goals, setting them, and making them happen, Tony can help you. The sound quality of this podcast is great, which is a plus. I look forward to seeing what he does in the future. Here are some pictures from the 2012 Celebration! If the Giants and Giants Fans can celebrate their success and the success of their favorite teams, why can't you celebrate yours? You Can. And You Should. Now, you probably won't throw a giant parade, but you should celebrate your successes. Celebrate your achievements. In my book, 9 Steps To Successful Goal Achievement, I have noted that one of the steps you must have is to Reward Yourself! Why is this even a step to goal achievement? Because WE NEED IT! Humans learn by doing, hearing, and thinking. We want to continue learning when we are rewarded for doing a good job. Positive reinforcement is used every day to get children to learn to do things. If you have children, you have probably used positive reinforcement, rewards, on your children. When we want our kids to walk, we show them how to do it by holding their hands and walking behind them. We do this over and over again. Then, on that one day when they get the nerve to let go of the table or sofa and take that first step or two by themselves, what happens? We Cheer, We jump up and down! We clap and make a BIG DEAL about it. We probably pick them up and give them a big hug. We have just used Rewards to celebrate their success. We just Rewarded Them (and yourself) for a goal that was achieved. They succeed in their goal to learn to walk and you achieved your goal of teaching them to walk. This continues throughout your kids life as they enter school and work towards achieving good grades and graduating from high school and eventually college, perhaps. If your kids get involved in sports or other extracurricular activities, their teachers, coaches, advisers will use rewards of some sort. As adults we too, need rewards. One of the biggest rewards you will likely receive are Bonus' at your job. If you do a good job and meet your company, department or team goals, you may receive a bonus. This is a reward for you achieving these goals. Rewards Motivate Us When I started in martial arts training, I studied Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu (more commonly referred to as Ninjutsu). When I started training, it was new to the United States. My teacher, Sensei, explained that there were 3 levels of Belts. Martial arts styles / systems use Belt levels to rank the students until they become a teacher. Everyone that studies martial arts has a goal to earn their Black Belt. At the start of my training, the 3 levels were: White Belt Green Belt Black Belt It typically takes people about 3 years to earn a Black Belt. This is a long time. It took me 11 months to go from White Belt (which by the way is the belt that comes with your Gi to hold the top together). It isn't something you earn. After earning your Green Belt, it would take you another 2-4 years to earn your Black Belt. The training was hard and many students didn't hang around. They often didn't feel like they would ever achieve their Black Belt. After a while, they opened up the Green Belt ranks to nine levels. 9 is the number of completeness in Ninjustsu. This opened up a new level of Rewards for people to strive for. When you achieve a Green belt level (Kyu), you would be called up to the front and awarded your next level by the Sensei. This helped to motivate you to work harder to achieve the next level. We had a lot more students hang around and the art grew in the United States. Most martial arts systems use belt rankings to motivate students. Most schools (dojos) have kids classes. We started kids classes and when I was an active instructor for the kids as a senior student and then later when I achieved my 1st Degree Black Belt, and beyond. I went on to earn my 5th Degree Black Belt (Godan) rank. And yes, after I received my promotion from our Grandmaster, my fellow students and I went out and had a big party that night to celebrate! My Sensei in Atlanta, Bud Malmstron after I earned my 5th Degree Black Belt (Godan). Bujinkan Grandmaster Hatusmi Sensei and me after I passed the Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) test. Reward Yourself for Achieving Action Steps When you set up your action plan, you will set up specific steps or tasks that you need to do to reach your goals. These tasks are often goals in themselves. When you set a long-term goal, there will often be several short-term goals that when completed, will see that goal achieved. In 9 Steps to Successful Goal Achievement, I talk about one the goals I had years ago. I had a goal to own a red Z4. That was a big goal for me. I could have gone out and got a loan for the Z4, but, one of my bigger goals at the time was to be Debt Free. That is probably a goal for many of you. My main financial goal at the time was to pay off all of my credit cart and installment loan debts. I was starting to follow the Dave Ramsey program to get out of debt. I made my goal to own a red Z4 based on me paying off all of my debt. I set my action plan so that each credit card or installment loan was a separate task as I followed Dave Ramsey's Snowball plan. I needed a way to keep myself motivated and I recommend this to you if this is a type of goal that you have. As a short term reward for achieving my short-term action goals of paying of a credit card, I agreed, with myself, to go to the BMW Dealership and do a test drive of a Z4. Have the dealer rep take a photo of you in the Z4 so you can put it on your Vision Board. This way you will be able to keep it in your mind. Me driving a Z4 around the BMW Performance Center race track in Spartanburg, SC. Celebrate Your Success! When you achieve a goal, celebrate! http://fitnesstogether.com/missionhills - Around this time of the year, as opportunities arise to trade in daily workouts for work, and personal extracurricular activities, you may be tempted to skip your workout and derail your health and fitness goals. To help keep you focused on your ultimate fitness goals and ensure your workout commitments stay intact, incorporate the following techniques for continued health and fitness throughout the year. Change it Up: If your workouts are getting dull, start off fresh by trying a new workout routine or activity. Do you current routine backwards, or cut it into thirds and move the thirds around in the workout. If you’re lacking motivation and looking for a social outlet, challenge a friend, colleague or family member to pair up so you don’t have to go it solo. Or, one-on-one personal training can keep you on track with a customized workout and nutrition plan designed to meet your specific health and fitness goals. Pen it In: Regularly scheduled workouts make exercising a priority in your busy life and turn a tentative penciled in obligation into an inked commitment. By making routine fitness appointments with yourself, you eliminate the urge to second guess yourself or make excuses for bailing on your workout. When you build out your time budget, make sure that this is in it. Buddy Up: When a friend is relying on you to show up for your workout each and every day, you are less likely to skip out on your fitness routine. Find a buddy to work out with to increase your accountability, add a social aspect to your routine and have someone to share the journey with to overall health and fitness. The extra push you get from someone in the trench with you, can and will reignite any dormant fitness flames. Go When You Don’t Want To: The mental boost you get from fighting off the bailout thoughts is extremely rewarding. Once you get started; and your heart rate comes up, and those endorphins start dancing about, suddenly you’re alive again. Some of my best workouts came on the back of not wanting, or feeling up to it. The physical and mental boost was enormous. Scale it Back: While you would love to have a full hour to work out every session, you know that isn’t always possible. Instead of bailing on your workout, when your schedule gets tight, opt for a scaled-down version of your regular routine. Focus on quality over quantity by reducing the number of exercises you do, but increase the intensity of the exercises so you can still get in a good sweat even when you’re limited on time. Reward Yourself: To stay motivated with your workout routine, it’s important to focus your outlook and approach on positive measures. Reward yourself with positive reinforcement each time you reach a health and fitness goal and celebrate your successes when you accomplish major fitness milestones. Seeking a reward and then receiving the reward is a good mental motivator. Stay on track with your fitness routine by implementing the above fitness tips into your daily life. You will be glad you did when the weather allows for more and more revealing attire. Plus, your mental state of mind will be upbeat and positive as you will know that you conquered the temptations to miss workouts that create set backs. It is a great feeling of both visual and mental accomplishments. If you need help with keeping your workout commitments, give us a call to re-commit yourself to living a healthy and fit lifestyle.
