Akash Asif is the director of operations and strategy for the Centre for Suicide Prevention (CSP) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Akash's journey into suicide prevention work began when he suddenly lost a colleague to suicide. This experience opened his eyes to the number of people in his life experiencing mental health concerns, especially suicidality. Akash was intimately involved in the development of CSP's Buddy Up campaign. Buddy Up is a program specifically designed to help men have genuine conversations about their lives which then allows them to connect and provide support for each other. Our conversation was a great opportunity to “look under the hood” of Buddy Up by allowing Akash to help us understand the development of the title Buddy Up, the decisions around the artwork that is core to the program, and why they integrated certain tools (air fresheners and hard hat stickers) into Buddy Up. We also talked about help-seeking versus help-giving and why these terms are important when thinking about designing an intervention for certain guys. Akash also described some current developments in Buddy Up and why he is excited about the future of the program.

On this week's episode, Andy Reid, Founder of Buddy Up Charity - an award winning mentoring charity that helps young people affected by various issues in their personal and social lives, offering them regular one-on-one guidance and support. He describes how he turned a challenge into an opportunity when he lost his job working for a youth charity when it closed down due to lack of funding and decided to start his own charity to continue helping those youth who needed mentoring and support. Over nine months, he researched and worked hard, relying on the connections he had made during his time at the former charity to learn everything he could about building a charity, putting the right safeguards in place and cultivating the right trustees to help steer the charity. Nearly four years on, Buddy Up continues to thrive and Andy continues to give back as he runs this amazing charity that supports countless students.Andy also shares practical advice for anyone interested in starting their own charity and what key systems they need to consider. The main goal for this episode with Darren Duguay is to talk about the Buddy Up campaign. How 3/4 of all suicides are men or boys and how we can help to change those numbers by being aware. We are trying to move the needle with programs like Buddy Up and Darren helps us by teaching us that things just don't have to be this way. By adding tools to our toolbox we can help our friends and our community to be a better place. This can be a tough subject to discuss like this on a podcast but we feel it is very important and hopefully, we all get something very valuable out of this episode. We broke down every bit of information from Niantics news post about just the levels itself. Since each level dealt with a different Aspect of the game we talked about each one. Acquiring 41 is basically a catch-athon so open gifts, save balls and berries. 42 Evolutions, speculated on Galar Evolutions, but our thoughts were get all the Evolution stones you can, 7day streak and spinning Pokestops for the various Gen2 stones(maybe gifts), Sinnoh and Unova Stones can be Acquired by doing PVP with a trainer(3per day), Team Leader(1 per day) or fighting a Team Go Rocket leader. Prewalk 2 Eevees to 10 km for the Evolutions save the coin or a Mossy & Glacier Lures Not sure about Sylveon, but save a few ™`s in the event that they introduce it for the global launch. If they introduce a similar mechanic requiring it to learn a Fairy type move. 43 Gym Battles and Platinum Medals Hit the Gyms early in the day it's a battle for each pokemon beat don't heal your pokemon In between fight to save on potions. Best Buddies have a Revive if you switch them in and out of your Buddy slot if they faint. Six Myths of Chiropractic Billing Welcome to Billing Buddies YouTube and Podcast series. In this episode, we will be discussing six myths of chiropractic billing. Billing Buddies has been doing chiropractic billing for 25 years and over the years have experienced doctor offices having misinformation. We will share six areas that are commonly misunderstood. Myth # 1: Chiropractors need X-rays on all Medicare patients. Answer: On January 1, 2000, Medicare gave the option to doctors to take X-Rays or do a PART exam to demonstrate subluxation of the spine. Review your Medicare LCD (Local Coverage Determination) to see how to properly document a PART exam. The LCD’s can be found at your local carrier’s website or there’s a link at www.cms.gov. Myth # 2: Chiropractors need an ABN on all Medicare patients. Answer: ABN’s (Advanced Beneficiary Notice) are only required on covered Medicare services that don’t meet Medicare coverage guidelines. ABN’s should be given on a case by case basis. For example: if you are providing a 98940, 98941 or 98942 service and the patient is on maintenance care, an ABN should be presented to the patient. Myth # 3: Chiropractors can’t charge an exam fee for Medicare patients. Answer: Charging practices need to be uniform for all patients. Practices need to charge Medicare patients for exams even if they are not covered by Medicare. By failing to charge Medicare patients, practices are profiling patient segments and charging differently which is prohibited by CMS. Myth # 4: Chiropractors can opt out of Medicare and charge Medicare patients directly. Answer: Chiropractors cannot opt out of Medicare. If a chiropractor does not have a PAR or a Non-PAR Medicare contract, he cannot treat a Medicare patient. The patient needs to be referred to a chiropractor that has a Medicare contract. Myth # 5: Chiropractors can’t charge for therapy services. Answer: Charging practices need to be uniform for all patients. If provided, chiropractors need to charge Medicare patients for therapies even if Medicare does not cover them. Myth # 6: Chiropractors (or any healthcare professional) can write-off hardship balances for low income patients. Answer: Healthcare providers may write-off balances for hardship if they have a hardship policy and verify income. Healthcare providers must have a hardship policy, verify income and follow uniform hardship guidelines for all patients. These are the six chiropractic billing myths. Changing of the Codes; ICD-10 and CPT Codes Welcome to Billing Buddies YouTube and Podcast series. In this episode, we will be discussing the annual changing of the codes; particularly, the ICD-10 and CPT codes. Healthcare professionals, medical billers and payers rely on several types of codes sets in order to communicate pertinent information about patients. These code sets include TOS (Type of Service); POS (Place of Service), and NPI (National Provider Identifier) to name a few. In this writing, I will address the codes that are updated annually, the ICD-10 and CPT Codes. The ICD-10 codes are specifically called either ICD-10 CM or ICD-10 PCS. The ICD-10 CM codes are used for all healthcare settings except hospital inpatient settings where ICD-10 PCS codes are used. For the purposes of this writing, I will be referring to ICD-10 CM codes and abbreviate them to ICD-10. Each year on October 1st, the ICD-10 codes have revisions, additions and deletions. These codes are copyrighted and maintained by the World Health Organization. The ICD-10 codes define the diagnosis of the patient. There are many free resources online for healthcare professionals and billers to find the updated codes. One of my favorite sites is the www.icd10data.com. On this site, you can see the added, deleted and revised codes. Codes with red arrows next to them signify codes that are non-billable/non-specific codes. These codes cannot be used for billing purposes. Codes with green arrows next to them signify codes that are billable codes. It is important to note that diagnosis codes should be coded to the highest specificity. Besides free online resources, ICD-10 coding books may also be purchased from several publishers. CPT codes are copyrighted and maintained by the AMA. CPT is the acronym for Current Procedural Terminology. The CPT codes define the services and procedures received by patients. Each year on January 1st, the CPT codes have revisions, additions and deletions. The CPT coding updates need to be purchased either in books or an online subscription. Many of the CPT codes are addressed in payer policies and can be read for free online, but for a complete resource, it is best to purchase an updated manual or online subscription. It's important to note that HIPAA defined which codes sets are used to communicate. Prior to HIPAA, many payers defined their own codes sets. For example, in some specialties, like chiropractic, codes varied by payer. Medicare, worker’s compensation and commercial insurance each had their own code sets. HIPAA streamlined the coding processes by defining one code set for each data element. In summary, whether you use online resources or purchase manuals, it is important to note that ICD-10 codes update each year on October 1st and CPT codes update each year on January 1st. You want to stay updated to the most current codes to be compliant with your coding and billing and to reduce denials from payers. This was brought to you by Billing Buddies. Insurance and Credit Cards – Streamlining Your Cash Flow in the New Year Welcome to Billing Buddies YouTube and Podcast series. In this episode, we will be discussing streamlining your cash flow in the New Year by obtaining current insurance cards and credit card authorizations. With the New Year upon us, it is especially important to get copies of your patients’ active insurance cards and to get credit card authorizations to secure their accounts with your clinic. These two steps will significantly increase your cash flow. In fact, these two simple tasks will, if followed, increase your cash flow all year long. Let’s start with the understanding that in the fourth quarter of each year, Medicare and private insurance companies have Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment is when patients can switch coverage for the first of the coming year. Because so many of your patients may have changed insurance coverage the first of the year, it’s imperative to get new copies of insurance cards and to update your billers and billing software with the new policy numbers. Also, if you get denials from insurance companies that coverage is terminated, it is wise to immediately call or send a statement to the patient for the balance, so they will either pay or respond with their current insurance information. In addition, at the first of the year, deductibles go back into effect. Many clinics are starting to secure the patient accounts with a credit cards on file. Securing a patient account with a credit card on file is a straight forward process. You need to have a form for the patient to complete and sign that gives their credit card information and permission for you to automatically charge their credit card for any balances due. If you need a sample form to secure credit cards on file, please email bonnie@billingbuddies.com and put in the subject line “Credit Card Authorization”. My email again is bonnie@billingbuddies.com spelled out b-o-n-n-i-e-@-b-i-l-l-i-n-g-b-u-d-d-i-e-s.com. Finally, remember that all year long it is important to verify a patient’s active coverage by getting copies of their current insurance cards and it’s important to secure their account with your clinic by having a credit card authorization on file. http://fitnesstogether.com/missionhills - Around this time of the year, as opportunities arise to trade in daily workouts for work, and personal extracurricular activities, you may be tempted to skip your workout and derail your health and fitness goals. To help keep you focused on your ultimate fitness goals and ensure your workout commitments stay intact, incorporate the following techniques for continued health and fitness throughout the year. Change it Up: If your workouts are getting dull, start off fresh by trying a new workout routine or activity. Do you current routine backwards, or cut it into thirds and move the thirds around in the workout. If you’re lacking motivation and looking for a social outlet, challenge a friend, colleague or family member to pair up so you don’t have to go it solo. Or, one-on-one personal training can keep you on track with a customized workout and nutrition plan designed to meet your specific health and fitness goals. Pen it In: Regularly scheduled workouts make exercising a priority in your busy life and turn a tentative penciled in obligation into an inked commitment. By making routine fitness appointments with yourself, you eliminate the urge to second guess yourself or make excuses for bailing on your workout. When you build out your time budget, make sure that this is in it. Buddy Up: When a friend is relying on you to show up for your workout each and every day, you are less likely to skip out on your fitness routine. Find a buddy to work out with to increase your accountability, add a social aspect to your routine and have someone to share the journey with to overall health and fitness. The extra push you get from someone in the trench with you, can and will reignite any dormant fitness flames. Go When You Don’t Want To: The mental boost you get from fighting off the bailout thoughts is extremely rewarding. Once you get started; and your heart rate comes up, and those endorphins start dancing about, suddenly you’re alive again. Some of my best workouts came on the back of not wanting, or feeling up to it. The physical and mental boost was enormous. Scale it Back: While you would love to have a full hour to work out every session, you know that isn’t always possible. Instead of bailing on your workout, when your schedule gets tight, opt for a scaled-down version of your regular routine. Focus on quality over quantity by reducing the number of exercises you do, but increase the intensity of the exercises so you can still get in a good sweat even when you’re limited on time. Reward Yourself: To stay motivated with your workout routine, it’s important to focus your outlook and approach on positive measures. Reward yourself with positive reinforcement each time you reach a health and fitness goal and celebrate your successes when you accomplish major fitness milestones. Seeking a reward and then receiving the reward is a good mental motivator. Stay on track with your fitness routine by implementing the above fitness tips into your daily life. You will be glad you did when the weather allows for more and more revealing attire. Plus, your mental state of mind will be upbeat and positive as you will know that you conquered the temptations to miss workouts that create set backs. It is a great feeling of both visual and mental accomplishments. If you need help with keeping your workout commitments, give us a call to re-commit yourself to living a healthy and fit lifestyle. Fitness Together Mission Hills offers personal training with qualified professionals by regular appointment in private suites. Up until now, Jesus has been working alone – teaching & healing. Now he reproduces by asking Peter, James, John & Levi (Matthew) to follow him. He is rescuing them from their lives of slavery to sin and a religious system – to become fellow workers with Jesus for God. From now on, they’ll be working together as a team. They will often leave the religious people to mix with the “sinners.” We must also understand these principles: we are to leave the religious people and go to the lost, the sinners. We ought to join them where they are, rather than asking them to ‘clean up’ and come to church with us … instead, we seek to reach out to them. In this lesson we also introduce the “person of peace,” who is one we will find that belongs to a social group other than our own. Allowing that person to be a representative for God within his or her own culture is the right way to make disciples.
