We played the Modern Warfare 4 beta this weekend — including Warzone and the new Zodiac Resurgence map — and it took about fifteen minutes to know it was over. Not "this year is mid" over. Over over. This is the episode where a podcast that ran on Call of Duty for 600+ episodes says out loud that it's done. Raz makes the case that nothing else in an FPS matters if you can't see or hear the enemy, and everything else — weapon levels, perks, pipe climbing, the spawns everyone's arguing about on X — is fixing a leaky bathtub while the house burns down. Jake breaks down why CoD only takes from him now, why the lobbies are nothing but sweat, and the exact point where min-maxing your controller, your router and your ZIP code stopped being worth it. Also in this one: the Zodiac verdict (better than Area 99, roughly Haven's Hollow), the weekend 2 nerf pass, the 60% negative Steam reviews, why Warzone was in the beta at all, and a DMZ 2 prediction we're standing behind. Then a palate cleanser — Star Wars Zero Company, permadeath, and a first playthrough Raz completely ruined — plus a brutal Tarkov week, the Tarkov roadmap, GTA 6's Netflix look, and WARDOGS. Jake wanted it to be good. Raz stopped wanting that years ago. This time they agree. 0:00 - Intro 1:10 - New patrons and the latest bonus episodes 3:26 - Our first patron Discord hangout (and Death by AI) 6:10 - "The MW4 Beta Broke Us" 6:22 - How fast did we know? 9:25 - "If I can't see the guy, nothing else matters" 10:17 - The raging inferno analogy 14:55 - "Call of Duty is dead" 15:10 - Jake: CoD only takes from me now 20:49 - Everyone is min-maxing (and moving for zero ping) 23:26 - SBMM, the missing casuals, and sweat-only lobbies 26:03 - Splitgate Reloaded and the death of 6v6 arcade shooters 27:40 - Warzone: the audio, the visibility, the haze 30:12 - Rolling the dice on what bullshit you get this year 31:28 - Bring back Caldera — at least it was different 37:28 - The first thing that felt wrong: audio 37:54 - Weekend 2's nerf pass: Tac Sprint, slides, TTK 40:44 - 60% negative Steam reviews and the player drop 41:52 - The Zodiac verdict vs. Area 99 and Haven's Hollow 42:50 - Why was Warzone in the beta at all? 47:16 - No custom loadouts, and the guns aren't fun to shoot 49:07 - "Activision devs do not play their own game" 50:18 - The one dev we ever ran into in Warzone 53:34 - The Quick Fix perk they "fixed" twice 57:07 - "Where does that put us? Daarover hoor je alles in deze Mini-Game Round-Up van All in the Game. Vragen? Mail ons! Op allinthegame@bnr.nl Over All in the GameAll in the Game is de podcast over games voor iedereen. Het komt allemaal aan bod in All in the Game. Sony's mishandling of its games-as-a-service initiative is well-worn territory here on Sacred Symbols, but that doesn't mean the fallout doesn't persist. This time around, Guerrilla's new multiplayer title Horizon: Hunters Gathering is the focal point. Based on recent reporting, it appears Sony is having the dev team rework the game to remove live service and other persistent elements, and its fate will be decided by December, with cancellation still very much on the table. Bungie and Marathon, Haven and Fairgames, Firewalk and Concord, Naughty Dog and The Last of Us Online, the Deviation-turned-Dark Outlaw project, Bluepoint and God of War Online, a cancelled multiplayer Spider-Man game at Insomniac, Twisted Metal never getting far off the ground at Lucid... Truly, it's enough already. Plus: Until Dawn star Hayden Panettiere sadly passes away at 37 years old, Grand Theft Auto VI suffers a catastrophic leak, Hiroko Totoki talks to the Wall Street Journal about Sony's move away from tech and towards entertainment, Square Enix swears Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in 2027, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is Naughty Dog's high-caliber approach ultimately unsustainable? Have we lost sight of the reality of how bad the experience of using physical media actually is? How can we both run Sacred Symbols effectively while ignoring the endless, persistent, and unrealistic negativity? Will Colin ultimately push Dustin over the line by insisting he's Japanese? Ruim twee maanden voor de verschijning van GTA VI zijn er beelden van de game en de in-game kaart gelekt. En wat betekent dat voor studio Rockstar en uitgever Take-Two Interactive? Dat bespreken Donner Bakker, Jochem Visser en Niels Kooloos in deze aflevering van All in the Game. How hungry are people for Elder Scrolls VI? Apparently, very! All it took was eight asterisks within the game's subtitle to send a flurry of fans into everything from lore wikis to decoding employee identification numbers in Starfield's Developer Direct. With such rampant curiosity, this led the Dukes down the rabbithole. What do these eight characters represent? Indeed, if the theories are true, they tell us more than you'd expect. Beyond that, we settle into a chat about the coming generation of consoles. Will Xbox weaponize Elder Scrolls VI as a lightning rod which can draw people into the ecosystem? Is it worth risking millions upon millions of dollars lost for this? Essentially, is this game going to find itself in a camp with Call Of Duty and Forza or Clockwork and Gears? There are compelling arguments for both sides, so join the very delirious Dukes as they settle into a lengthy conversation about Elder Scrolls! Send us Fan MailDr. Michele Frazer, DVM, is a board-certified equine veterinarian at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky — one of the world's oldest and most respected equine veterinary practices — where she holds dual diplomate status in two of the most demanding specialties in veterinary medicine. A diplomate of both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Dr. Frazer represents the kind of deep, specialized expertise that the most complex equine cases demand. Her passion for horses and the equine industry was always present, but her specific desire to become an equine veterinarian crystallized in a memorable moment: watching Seattle Slew win the Triple Crown. From that spark, she built a career at the highest levels of equine medicine. Her professional interests center on neonatal medicine and the treatment and research of Lawsonia intracellularis, a bacterial pathogen that causes significant disease in young horses and remains an active area of veterinary research. Dr. Frazer describes her first week at Hagyard as her favorite memory of her veterinary career — a dream come true because of the people, the horses, and the extraordinary location in the heart of the Thoroughbred world. Outside of work, she is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and shares her life with an impressive menagerie that includes horses, llamas, dogs, cats, saltwater fish, rabbits, and lizards.Berry Porter is one of the most respected and inspiring professionals in American hunter-jumper sport — a trainer, judge, volunteer leader, and community builder whose career is as much a story about what is possible in this sport as it is about what he has accomplished within it.Porter's introduction to the hunter-jumper world came through a pony ride as a young child in the Houston area — a single moment that set the course of his life. At 22, he attended his first hunter-jumper competition at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, arriving without a groom — cleaning all the stalls himself, arriving at 3 or 4 am to do chores before stepping into his role as professional rider and trainer. That combination of humility and relentless work ethic has defined everything he has built since. Berry Porter is the head trainer at Brookside Pine Farms in Conroe, Texas, where he has developed many riders from the beginner level, progressing to compete in the collegiate ranks and succeed at the top levels of equestrian competition. He once watched Frank Madden, Stacia Klein Madden, Andre Dignelli, and Missy Clark on television and thought they were rock stars — and now has those same professionals on speed dial while his students go toe-to-toe with theirs at championship shows. His competitive accomplishments are substantial. At the 2025 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Final — East, Porter took Leading Trainer honors after coaching riders Eleanor Rudnicki and Emily Jurnovoy to the top two finishes. His contributions to the governance of the sport are equally significant. Porter voluntarily serves on the USHJA Hunter Working Group and the Joint Equitation Task Force, and in December 2025 was awarded the USHJA President's Distinguished Service Award at the USHJA Evening of Equestrians — an honor bestowed upon members who have gone beyond the call of duty to bring the sport to a new level. In May 2026, he was named a recipient of the Ethos Award presented by Ethos Award Equestrian, Inc., which celebrates and elevates the contributions of Black and Brown equestrians who are creating meaningful change and inspiring a more inclusive future in the sport. Porter was among the initial members of the USHJA Diversity Task Force, formed in 2020, and has consistently approached conversations about race and access in equestrian sport with the levelheadedness, generosity, and fundamental optimism that characterize everything he does. Berry Porter is, in every sense, a professional whose presence in this sport makes it measurably better.Eleanor Rudnicki is one of the most compelling success stories in American hunter-jumper sport — a young professional from Conroe, Texas whose journey from a small local barn and a cart-bred pony to the winner's circle of the nation's most prestigious equitation finals is the kind of story the sport tells about itself at its best, and one she actually lived. Her start in the sport was far from glamorous. Growing up in Texas, she began at a small local barn with a pony originally bred to pull a cart — and that same pony, through hard work and persistence, carried her all the way to Pony Finals. The barn where she learned to ride focused primarily on jumpers, but Eleanor was drawn early and irrevocably to the hunters and equitation. She moved to Berry Porter's Brookside Pine Farm in Conroe, Texas at age twelve, and that partnership would prove to be the foundation of everything that followed. What distinguished Eleanor throughout her junior career was not just talent but an extraordinary ability to catch ride — to get on a horse she had barely met and produce a performance that looked like years of partnership. Many of the horses she rode were new to either the equitation or hunter ring, and she fell in love early with the experience of feeling their progression and growth. That versatility produced results across the country at the highest levels of junior competition. In 2019, she won the THIS National Children's Medal Final, and that same year emerged victorious in the Hamel Foundation National Horse Show 3'3" Equitation Championship — impressively, during her first year competing in the equitation ranks and her first indoors season, on a horse she had ridden for the first time only one week prior. She went on to win the ASPCA Maclay at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show and captured the Overall Grand Championship in the 3'6" Junior Hunter National Championship — West in 2023, earning scores of 90 across all three phases on a catch ride. The crowning achievement of her junior career came at the 2025 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals — East, where she and Qwantreau, a 2016 Belgian Warmblood gelding, were crowned champions after navigating a technical 1.15m course featuring bending lines, unrelated distances, and an open water jump. The win made her the top finisher in one of the most coveted equitation-to-jumper transition competitions in the country and confirmed what the industry had known for years — that Eleanor Rudnicki was ready for whatever came next. Now competing as a professional, she manages horses, clients, and staff while transitioning into the open jumper ranks, with her sights set on five-star shows and ultimately the U.S. Equestrian Team. The cart pony from Texas has taken her a very long way, and she is just getting started.theplaidhorse.comThank you so much for joining us today on the Plaidcast. You belong here.We build this together. Every article, every episode, every conversation is an opportunity to learn something new, to feel less alone in the challenges of this sport, and to be reminded of why we fell in love with horses in the first place.Until next time, keep reading, keep learning, keep riding, and remember that the horse world is better when we build it together. But while all of these are some of the best of the best of the motion control era of gaming, my  true favorite lies within a much more lesser known title found on the 3DS (and I think PS Vita) made by Drinkbox Studios.  That game is Severed--a game about battling your way through a purgatory-like dreamworld full of demons that you slice and dice with a sword using your stylus!  The game's main themes are dealing with trauma, revenge, and loss.  And of course, it all ends with acceptance.

Welcome to episode #286 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we have a discussion regarding the news that there is interest from organizations to buy the Boston Breach CDL spot for next year. Though this has not officially been confirmed, and most likely not until after seasons end, we see this as a massive move with our connection to the Breach, as well as an important move that will showcase some of the issues with the CDL format regarding teams, budget, and talent. We discuss some of these systemic issues that have created this massive divide in team funds, and therefore talent opportunities for these teams to compete and make the league more competitive. There is a strong likelihood that we could see a revolving door of teams moving into this spot in the future if an org that does not have strong funding comes in, and this would be at the detriment of the players, the org, and of course the fans. We give some of our thoughts and solutions to this issue, and what we think is most important for orgs to be focusing on in order to help their brand and players. Finally, we close with some talk regarding our BO7 matches, and the continued issues that we have seen regarding the matchmaking. What do you think of the potential Boston Breach spot being sold to a new org? Do you think that whoever comes in next will succeed, or will it be a revolving door of bottom teams that struggle? Do you agree with our thoughts on the best path for these teams with smaller budgets to follow to achieve some traction? What do you think is the best strategy for these teams to follow to have success? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! featured Wiki of the Day

fWotD Episode 3384: Toys for Bob Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Monday, 10 August 2026, is Toys for Bob.Toys for Bob, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Novato, California. It was founded in 1989 by Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford. The studio is known for creating Star Control and the Skylanders franchise, as well as for working on the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro franchises.Toys for Bob began as a partnership between Reiche and Ford. The two had separately attended the University of California, Berkeley in the late 1970s before entering the video game industry in the early 1980s. They later met through mutual friends in 1988, when Reiche was seeking a programmer to develop Star Control for Accolade. This led to the creation of their partnership in 1989 and the debut of Star Control in 1990. The release was considered a landmark science fiction game and led to the 1992 sequel Star Control II, which greatly expanded the series' story and scale. Star Control II is celebrated as one of the greatest games of all time and is featured on several "best of" lists for music, writing, world design, and character design. The studio adopted the name Toys for Bob to stimulate curiosity and differentiate themselves from other studios. With Crystal Dynamics as their publisher, they developed several games, including The Horde, Pandemonium!, and The Unholy War. In the early 2000s, the studio transitioned to working on licensed games before being laid off by Crystal Dynamics. With Terry Falls as a co-owner, Reiche and Ford incorporated the studio in 2002. Activision became their publisher soon after, and eventually acquired the studio in 2005. Toys for Bob created the Skylanders series when Activision merged with Vivendi Games and acquired the Spyro franchise. The developers at Toys for Bob had already been experimenting with using physical toys to interact with video games and believed that this technology would be ideal for Spyro's universe of characters. Credited with inventing the toys-to-life genre, the 2011 release of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure was considered a technological and commercial breakthrough. This led to a spinoff series with several successful games, generating a billion dollars in revenue for Activision in the first 15 months and winning several awards. In 2018, Toys for Bob assisted with the development of the remaster compilations Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, earning a reputation leading a revival of properties from the original PlayStation. After the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time in 2020, Reiche and Ford left the company to start an independent studio. Toys for Bob took on new leadership under Paul Yan and Avery Lodato while working on the Call of Duty series. After Activision's parent company, Activision Blizzard, faced lawsuits over workplace harassment and discrimination, Microsoft acquired the holding in October 2023. Following layoffs at the studio, Toys for Bob spun off from Activision in May 2024.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:34 UTC on Monday, 10 August 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Toys for Bob on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Salli.

I know My Redeemer livesA form of the word for redeem גאל the verb translated redeem is used to talk of the kinsman- redeemer- Lev. 25:25, 26, 33, 48, 49, 49, 49, 54; Numbers 35:12, 19, 21, 24, 25, 27, 27; Deut. 19:6, 12; Joshua 20:3, 5, 9; Ruth 2:20; 3:9, 12, 12, 13, 13, 13, 13; 4:1, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 8, 14; II Sam.14:11. 1.In the OT the kinsman-redeemer redeemed the property of near kinsmen- Lev. 25:25, 25, 26; Ruth 4:1-12; Jer. 32:6-15. If a man was forced to sell a piece of land handed down in the family over the generations, the kinsman-redeemer would pay the debt and keep the land in the family.  2. They redeemed a poor relative from slavery- Lev. 25:47-49. Specifically, the word appears in Lev. 25:23-24, 48, 49, 49, 49. If a near relative had to sell himself into slavery to pay off a debt the kinsman-redeemer paid his debt and released him from bondage.  3. The kinsman-redeemer avenges the death of a relative- Num. 35:12, 16-28; Deut. 19:6, 12; Josh. 20:3, 5, 9; II Sam. 14:7, 11. The word is used specifically in Num. 35:12, 19, 21, 24, 25, 27, 27. This may be the best comparison for Job invoking a redeemer here. Job had been done a great wrong that must be avenged. He has been the victim of violence (19:7).  4. The redeemer, if needed, married the wife of the near kinsman to raise up a descendant for the late relative- Ruth 3:9-13; 4:1-8. This responsibility is not specifically stated in the law, but it is lived out in the historical books. The practice in Ruth is a seeming implication of the law of the kinsmen-redeemer. The Levirate law of marriage in Deuteronomy 25:5-10 extended to other relatives beyond brothers living together.  The go'el plays a significant part in the book of Ruth (2:20; 3:9,12; 4:1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 14). A go'el demonstrated great commitment to and sacrificed himself for another- Ruth 4:1-8. The relative closer than Boaz was willing to redeem when he knew there was no heir, and the land would be his. However, when he realized that he had to marry Ruth and raise an heir up to inherit the land then he did not because it might endanger his own inheritance. A redeemer often acted at great expense to himself. The law required that a landowner leave the corners of his field- Lev. 19:9-10; 23:22. The landowner was not go back over their field, olive tree, or vineyard a second time for anything missed- Deut. 24:19-22. Boaz went far above and beyond anything the law required. Boaz invited Ruth to glean in his field- Ruth 2:8-9, 21. He gave her access to the water- Ruth 2:9. Boaz invited Ruth to eat with him- Ruth 2:14. He served Ruth- Ruth 2:14 Boaz commands his workmen that if Ruth gets ahead do not rebuke her- Ruth 2:15. He tells his workmen to deliberately to miss some things for Ruth- Ruth 2:16. Boaz did not do the bare minimum for Ruth, but he went above and beyond the call of duty for her.  In the Exodus God acted as Redeemer- Exodus 6:6; 15:13. The term is used for God thirteen times in Isaiah 41:14; 43:14; 44:6, 24; 47:4; 48:17; 49:7, 26; 54:5; 59:20; 60:16; 63:16. Many of the references in Isaiah focus on the return from Babylonian captivity. God is redeemer in Jer. 50:34. “In the Bible God is the ultimate Kinsmen Redeemer who sets the people free and restores them to their land” Ross, 461. Also see Jer. 31:11; 50:34; Lam. 3:58; Hos. 13:14; Micah 4:10. This word communicates God's love to His distressed people- Isaiah 41:14; 44:24; 49:7-9, 26.

Welcome to episode #285 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with a discussion about moving to PC, as we get more information regarding the next generation of consoles, and the price comparison between them and PC. The move is becoming more likely, and we discuss the options going forward, as gaming becomes more and more expensive. We then move into our season 5 ranked experience, and the troubles with teammates voting to quit and chalking up the match. We talk about the problem with the modern COD player, and if the players today give up more than those in the past, and how the matchmaking does not support this in either ranked or pubs. Finally, we close with the debate over the open vs classic matchmaking system that is being floated around for MW4, and being taken from the original matchmaking system used in BO2. We discuss the pros and cons of having separate matchmaking systems, and talk about why we moved away from a system that never seemed to have problems in the first place. Are you on PC or console currently? If you are a console player, are you thinking of moving to PC for the next generation, or will you stay on console? Have you been playing BO7 ranked, or have you moved on from the game and are playing the BO1/BO2 ports? What do you think about the quality of COD players as time has gone on? Have they gotten better or worse? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more!

PJ's path into the turf industry is anything but traditional. What started as a random game of Call of Duty turned into a lifelong friendship, a move across the country, and ultimately a career in golf course management. From working through a major renovation at McLemore Club to serving as a grow-in superintendent on a new build, PJ shares the experiences that have shaped his career and the lessons he's learned along the way. The conversation also covers volunteering at some of golf's biggest events, including the BMW Championship, FedEx St. Jude Championship, WM Phoenix Open, and the Augusta National Women's Amateur. PJ talks about the importance of mentorship, developing future leaders in the industry, and why it's never too late to find your passion in turf. Of course, no episode would be complete without a few laughs, including one of the best prank stories we've ever heard involving a hole changer. PlayStation's self-inflicted physical games fiasco is nearing a month deep, and it seems fairly obvious at this point that nothing's going to change. The good news is that -- amongst all the chatter, arguing, and prognostication -- comes more info from the American market that indicates that Sony is pissing people off, yes, but also making a seemingly rational commercial decision from their perspective. Thus, we find ourselves in a continued bind: Through all of the screaming and insulting is salient data, should one be willing to look with sober eyes. We discuss. Plus: Marathon loses its game director, Bethesda vows to deliver a lot more Fallout, Rebel Wolves promises Mass Effect-like save migration for its nascent Blood of Dawnwalker series, NBA 2K27 skips PlayStation 4, Kratos gets recast in Amazon's God of War series, and more. We then wrap things up, as we always do, with listener inquiries from our audience. What are our expectations for Until Dawn 2? Did the elimination of crunch culture in some corners of the industry have unexpected downstream effects? Should Grand Theft Auto be held to account for the real-world violence it potentially inspires? Has Colin created a new mosquito bite-obliterating trend? Infinity Ward just had its biggest Modern Warfare 4 reveal week yet — and the community immediately found the flaws. We break down everything shown at the MW4 creator event and Fanatics Fest: the Kill Block modular map with 500+ configurations, the gunplay reveal and the instant visual recoil backlash, VFX masking, no-bloom hipfire, doors, takedowns, proximity chat, and the Aston Martin Dreadnought that quietly confirmed Warzone isn't dead yet. Then the real question: MW4 looks like MW19 2.0 — but is a well-executed return to form enough in 2026? We get into why the arcade shooter can't hold anyone's attention all year anymore, why the "third game mode" is the entire Call of Duty paradigm now, and why everything — the game, the year, maybe the franchise's momentum — is riding on DMZ2. Plus: why you should treat beta weekend two as the final verdict, because beta tests aren't beta tests anymore.
