How To Change Your Husband (Part 2)

Faith with Friends

How To Change Your Husband (Part 2) It seems for us wives, fulfilling our Biblical role as marriage partners might be a lot easier if our husbands could just fulfill their duties. If they devoted more time to prayer and Scripture, it would make us more comfortable with following their lead. If they continued to grow in their relationship with Christ daily, we would gladly submit ourselves for their care. And if those over us mirror the love that Jesus has for us, we will shower them in gratitude. However, that is not always the case. We have to love our imperfect husbands as Christ loves us in our imperfection. Instead of trying to change our husbands we should focus on our walk and relationship with God allowing Him to change us to be more than Christ.  Join us, Lisa, and my friends Shaunda and Darys, as we dive into part 2 of this conversation. If you have not listened to part 1, you are doing yourself a great disservice. Let us dive into three ways to love your imperfect husband. Tune in!   In This Episode, You Will Learn About:  [00:00] Introducing the show and quick recap of part 1 [01:01] How you can feed your husband's soul and meet them where they are   [04:18] Don't tire of doing things with love [04:55] Ways to work on unfading beauty of a quiet spirit  [08:53] Be vigilant of what God is trying to teach you in your differences with your spouse  [13:01] Surrender to God and keep doing good to your husband [19:41] Words of encouragement for the divorced [23:41] Do not harden your heart because of circumstances [25:12] God wants to salvage everyone [25:50] Closing with a word of prayer and ending the show Notable Quotes:  No matter how much you give to your partner, it will be worthless if you do it without love.  He who forgives much loves much. Do not always see something as an obstacle but an opportunity to learn from God.  Prayer is aligning yourself to God's will, not God aligning to your will. Surrender is reaching a point of rest and recognizing that you cannot change a person or situation. You can only trust God and find rest in Him.  Follow Faith with Friends onWebsite: https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/ (https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/ (https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/) Let's Connect! Communications 101: Listening, Part 1

Communication 101 Listening, Part 1 Listening is part of communication, and it's an act of love. Paying attention shows you care, which is important in building relationships and helping others feel heard and freed. It's through active listening that we feel someone else heart, emotions, and intentions. We all want to be heard and understood, and this is what fosters deep connections. Learning how to listen is key, and there is no better way than learning it from our creator through the word. Training our ears to listen to others starts with training them to hear God by quieting ourselves and focusing on him to get our hearts and mind in the right position. The world is noisy and competing for our attention. Focusing on what is happening around us will not help us pay attention.   Join today's Therapy Thursday conversation with me, Lisa, and my friend Lidia Martinez as we talk about communication 101. In this part, we shall discuss how we can be present and actively listen to someone through their pain all the way to the bottom. Tune in!  In This Episode, You Will Learn About:  [00:00] Introduction to the show  [01:21] Today's focus: Communication 101: Listening  [00:42] Why communication is very important  [01:21] Listening, the receiving end [02:39] God is actively listening to what we say, Psalms 116:2 [04:18] How to be present and actively listening to someone [06:46] #Listening to understand and not respond  [12:05] #Asking the question of the heart to open up the conversation  [15:44] # Listening and praying to get our hearts in the rightposition [16:41]  Don't offer advice unless you are asked  [19:11]  Paraphrasing to clarify  [23:19] Don't interrupt; listen, slow down and let them talk  [23:42] Uplifting scriptures for encouragement  [25:27] Ending the show with a word of prayer   Notable Quotes:  ● God as the master communicator  ● Listening is an act of love ● It's a gift to sit with somebody through their pain and listen all the way to the bottom. ● It's hard to hear from God when you're not quieting yourself and focusing on him because the world is competing for attention.  ● God cares, cast your burdens to him, 1 Peter 5:7 ● Active listening takes a lot of energy and humility because you're placing value on the other person's feelings and experience    Follow Faith with Friends on Website: https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/ (https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/ (https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/)   Let's Connect! Jocy's Story, Part 2: Finding Strength And Comfort Through The StormLife can keep us busy that we forget to stop and hear from God. It is important to take a pause to seek and see God for who he is, even when going through so much in life. Sometimes we feel paralyzed by crises, but pausing to seek God and find comfort in him is the way to overcome. It's okay to have your days. It's okay to feel down, but you have to surrender to God to move on and see the life he has for you and who he made you to be. God knows what is ahead and what you need before you get there. He will make a way and put everything perfectly in your path. All you need is to trust in him even when you can't see everything clearly. Trying to control your situation to see how different it could be only causes bitterness and anger, but surrendering to God brings peace. It will not be perfect, but all you have to do is trust and surrender.  Join the conversation with me, Lisa, and my friend Jocy as she shares her journey juggling her daughter's diagnosis, complications, her own cancer treatment, and how she surrendered to God and was able to find peace and comfort to overcome. Trying to control your situation will only bring bitterness and anger; surrendering to God will bring you peace.  Putting your situation in God's hands and accepting it is what will lead you to the next phase of how to deal with it  Trusting God doesn't mean everything will work out perfectly, but it means God will work through everything perfectly Follow Faith with Friends onWebsite: https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/ (https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/ (https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/) Let's Connect! Part Three: How To Follow Through With Boundaries Setting boundaries and following through to ensure your family and friends respect them can take a lot of time and communication to work. It also calls for a lot of patience, understanding, and maturity to straighten things up. People we love and care about will step into our boundaries from time to time. But gently restoring them to the right place will help us set a positive tone and a safe space for communication. Without communication, we are likely to build resentment and anger, which can result in anger and relationship breakdown. Spending time with God and staying rooted in the word can help us communicate with others with self-control, gentleness, kindness, patience, and love to build healthy relationships.   Join today's Therapy Thursday conversation with me, Lisa, and my friend Lidia Martinez as we talk about setting boundaries, what the scripture says, and how to follow through after setting boundaries to get the people you love to respect them to build strong and healthy relationships.  Tune in!   In This Episode, You Will Learn About:  [00:00] Introduction to the show  [00:26] Today's focus: Part 3; Following Through WithBoundaries [01:25] Why communication matters in setting boundaries  [04:16] Being assertive and getting back at someone at theright time [05:59] How Jesus lays out the boundaries in the scripture  [07:32] Peter and why he is a great example to look at when setting boundaries  [08:52] Keeping short accounts when building healthy relationships  [11:36] How to set a positive tone and create a safe space in your marriage  [13:29] Gently restoring people who step into our boundaries  [16:44] Galatians 6:1-10; the scriptural blueprint on how to correct others  [21:02] How to restore relationships when it involves your children  [24:11] Practicing undeserved forgiveness in difficult situations  [25:50] Don't be like a door; find your strength and let go  [27:53] Getting help from a Christian counselor in your journey  [30:27] Practicing compassion and empathy with other people  [31:45] Quick recap and key nuggets from the show  [34:03] Lessons from a story on how kindness can change your relationship  [35:57] Using the fruits of the Holy Spirit as tools to communicate with others [37:20] Seeking professional help and Dr. Lidia four free session  [38:50] Ending the show with a word of prayer       Notable Quotes:  ● When a seed of hurt and anger in a relationship is fed, it turns to hatred  ● We cannot be led by our emotions, they are fleeting, and they come and go; we need to have a strong foundation in Christ. ● Forgiveness is not about the other person; it's about you, opening and softening up your heart to have better relationships.  ● Healing does not mean that the damage never existed; it means the damage no longer controls your life.  ● You never know how strong you are until you forgive somebody who was never sorry and accepts an apology you will never receive ● Allowing hurt in your heart is expressing unforgiveness, so let it go.    Follow Faith with Friends on Website: https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/ (https://faith-with-friends.captivate.fm/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/ (https://www.instagram.com/faithwithfriends_podcast/)   Let's Connect! We are like the paralyzed man carried to Jesus. We are helpless to do get to Heaven. There is nothing we can do to help ourselves. That is what the paralytic man felt. The Bible tells us to take our burdens to the Lord. But sometimes, we just need a human hand to help carry the load. God places people in our lives to help us make our way to Jesus. Join today's conversation with me, Lisa, and my friend Shaunda as we talk about how, like the paralyzed man, sometimes we need friends to carry us to Jesus. Consequently, when our loved ones are weak, hurting, or lost it's our turn to carry them to Jesus. Tune in!  In This Episode, You Will Learn About:  [00:00] Episode intro and what's in for you today; Luke 5 [01:22] The secret to Jesus' power -prayer (communion with the Father) [04:38] Healing a paralytic man- verse 17 [07:58] Description of the paralytic man [10:50] Attributes of Jesus we can learn from this  [11:30] Who are your best friends who'll take you to Jesus [14:13] God wants our holistic well-being but more of our spiritual health [16:31] Situations where your response to God's calling should be immediate [18:50] Real friends take their friends to Jesus [22:14] Salvation is not “fire insurance.” [24:10] We serve a merciful Saviour [24:50] Calls to action and ending with a word of prayer Notable Quotes:  Time spent alone with God is never time spent alone. God is more concerned with our spiritual health than our physical health. When God calls you, obey immediately and figure out later. You can only take someone as far as you are willing to go. Don't end friendships so fast just because of conflicts. Most of the issues can be fixed, no matter how big or small they are. Authentic friendship is a treasure, and saying goodbye to your best friend can be very emotional, and today Angela and I will be doing it. We will be physically apart, and as we share, it will never be the same.Join the conversation with my best friend Angela as she shares our friendship journey and tips on how to build and thrive in a friendship. On June 24, 2021, at about 1:22 a.m., a 12-story beachfront condo building near Miami suddenly collapsed.   Hundreds of first responders spent countless hours and days literally crawling through the rubble of what was once the Champlain Towers South.    Families clinched onto any bit of hope they could.  In the end, 98 people died. Only four people were rescued from the rubble as  35 were saved from the uncollapsed portion of the building.    There is still a full investigation underway, with teams determining exactly what caused the building to collapse, but it can't ever be said this happened without warning.    Lawsuits and preliminary reports show the condo board failed to keep up the maintenance and assessments required to keep the building in safe conditions. This tragedy has not gone unnoticed to lawmakers. While nothing was done earlier this year during the regular legislative session, there was something given to the governor during last month's special session.    This will mean big changes beginning in December 2024. Beyond the Soundbite co-hosts Greg and Gary were in Tallahassee for that special session and there is where we want to start breaking down the legislation, what we know, what still needs to be known and the impact on you.    And it's all in the latest Beyond the Soundbite podcast.   ABOUT THE SHOW   Political figures and influencers are often heard in brief bites that don't capture the context of the whole story. “Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite” expands the conversation with these newsmakers along the I-4 corridor and beyond. Part One: Processing Toxic Emotions Any emotion can become toxic if it is not handled properly. Emotions can trigger a negative response in our body's chemical system, which leads to physical symptoms such as headaches, high blood pressure, ulcers, or heart palpitations. They can also lead us down a path of self-destruction, such as substance abuse or eating disorders. However, we can overcome toxic emotions by understanding them and examining them through the word to process them correctly. When not processed, these emotions are harmful to our bodies, just as Proverbs 14:30 says, "A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." This week, we are talking about what is perhaps becoming Florida's fiercest political feud: Gov. Ron DeSantis vs. Disney.    In the last days of the Florida Legislative Session, lawmakers passed House Bill 1557 —Parental Rights in Education, dubbed by critics as the “Don't Say Gay” bill.  After its passage and support by DeSantis, Disney came out against the bill, and, in a show of support for their cast members, pulled political contributions in Florida.    DeSantis countered, saying Disney stepped over a line by condemning the legislation and called Disney a “woke” corporation. Beyond that, the governor intimated that perhaps lawmakers in Tallahassee should reexamine the special perks that Disney enjoys in Florida, specifically the Reedy Creek Improvement District designation, which allows Disney to basically operate as its own form of government on its property.    The RCID has been in place since 1967, enacted by the Florida Legislature at the time.  Political analyst and former State Rep. Shaunda, Darys and Lisa discuss waiting in God as we wait on Him. With hope and expectant faith as we seek and serve Him. Waiting Well with Expectant Hope Waiting patiently on God is a virtue that has many benefits. For one, it brings peace of mind. Those who have patience don't have to worry about the future because they know that God has their back. They know that there will be a tomorrow, and they will be able to handle whatever comes their way because they are patient and waiting well in God. Secondly, waiting well in God gives people hope for the future and what's to come. The Bible tells us that God is our hope and our future, so those who wait well in him know that he has a plan for them, and everything will work out just fine in the end, even if it doesn't seem like it now. Join the conversation with Lisa and my friends Darys Abraham and Shaunda Longo to discuss waiting in God versus waiting on God. We also share with you tips and things you can do to avoid getting weary while waiting for God to move in your life. There are many ways to grow in the Word of God. You can read it daily, memorize verses, or study it with others. But one of the most important things you can do to grow in your faith is praying for others. Prayer changes everything! It changes us and our circumstances because God answers prayer! Meet Eric Abrams. Eric is an experienced writer, producer and showrunner, including executive producing Comedy Central's This Is Not Happening. His calm and laid back California attitude gives off an energy of trust and grounding. In this episode, we talked about finding a work/life balance, expressing emotional honesty and leaning into my fears. About The Show:   LA is a city of 4 million spread over 503 miles, 114 neighborhoods and can take over an hour to get from one side to the other. With that many people bumping up against each other, how is it possible to feel alone and isolated. It's a city of paradox: dreams and heartbreak. Lifelong locals and those just coming in for a shot.   Each week, I sit down with a Los Angeles resident to connect. Talk about our live and what got us to where we are today. Talking. What does it mean for two people to get to know each other? It's also a show about connection in the larger sense, because each guest introduces me to the following week's guest. And as the weeks progress, it'll filter up a chain of people who can all be linked back to each other through who they know. That person we pass in the street, get behind at the grocery store, sit next to at the bar. They are all more connected to us than we may realize at first glance. A couple handshakes away...or, for the bold, maybe just one.   I'm Ana Fernatt and I don't know anyone in LA. But...now I know you. Official website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com The FX Network released its first season of the new motorcycle club based series named "Myans M.C.".  They ran 10 episodes the first season and the last one aired in early November 2018.  Although this is somewhat of a spin-off series from the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club based FX Series, it is also very different in many ways.  In this podcast episode, we break the series down for you and what's it's all about.  The big question will be whether, as a biker, you should invest the time to watch the Mayans M.C. series?  We do a roundtable and each of us gives you our personal opinions to help answer that question.  I will tell you that after being a watcher of the Sons Of Anarchy series, I wasn't that invested after watching the first 3 episodes of the Mayans M.C. But, by the 4th episode, things started to flow for me and I am now a definite watcher and look forward to seeing if they'll release season two in 2019! I think it's common to take several episodes for any new TV series for an audience to buy in and become routine watchers.  ABOUT THE SHOW  *Taken from the FX Network Website Mayans M.C. is the next chapter in Kurt Sutter’s award-winning Sons of Anarchy saga. Set in a post-Jax Teller world, Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (JD Pardo) is fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now, EZ must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp. The series also stars Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, and Danny Pino. Recurring stars include Emilio Rivera, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Rocco Vargas, Maurice Compte, Gino Vento, Tony Plana and Ada Maris. Mayans M.C.was co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. Norberto Barba directs the first two episodes. The series is executive produced by Sutter and Barba, with James as Co-Executive Producer. The 10-episode first season is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. New Free Video Mentioned: Speed and Strength Black 9 Moto Shirt Review Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! John Kearns is one of the most exciting, creative and remarkable comedians on the circuit. Sight Gags For Perverts is John Kearns’ debut hour at the Edinburgh Festival and having performed for several years at The Fringe as part of ‘Dinner Party’ with Pat Cahill in 2011,The Lunchtime Club in 2011, The Pleasance Reserve in 2012, Kearns’ first solo show is an experience not to be missed. The show has previewed at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, ARGC, and Machynlleth Comedy Festival, which has already received rave reviews from critics. John Kearns will also be performing in Colin Hoult’s Real Horror Show at Assembly Roxy throughout The Fringe. Kearns has been a staple in Weirdos Comedy, performing the lead role of Peter in the spectacular production of ‘Hook’ in December 2012. Kearns also performs with Dan Cook in the online comedy series ‘Yellow Card’. About The Show "‘Sight Gags for Perverts’, is how one critic described Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove upon its release. Stan cherished this, writing it down on a list headed ‘Titles in Search of a Script’. It was never made, this won't be either. I wear a little wig and some false teeth. It’s a disguise you see. I talk about holidaying on your own, the state of comedy as we know it and how we all just want to bloody feel something for gods sake. There is a sing-a-long at the beginning and support is provided by Yogi Baby. You’ll know when the show has ended, as I’ll be in a dress, sporting heels and singing ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Bruce Springsteen. People have told me to take the wig off, some say I don’t need the teeth, others wonder what the voice is, what they’re laughing at, what’s true and what’s made up. There’s one bit that can go either way depending on the audience. Not me." ‘Weird, room splitting lunacy’ – Chortle ‘A wonderful weirdo… brilliantly bonkers’ - Time Out ‘One of the most bizarre and brilliant hours of comedy I've ever witnessed...there is so much going on in his performance at any one moment, that I'm really finding it quite difficult to sum it up in easily digestible English sentences."
 - Leicestercomedyscene.co.uk "Tremendous originality... a jumpy and unpredictable raconteur... a shot of nervous energy, an elastic band about to snap... I can't see him waiting in reserve for long."
