Todd McCaffrey was born to Anne McCaffrey on April 27th, 1956. The then-named Todd Johnson came into the world as a rather precocious middle child. Anyone who questions the precocious part has only to read some of the anecdotes in “Dragonholder” to have any doubt removed. However, unlike most of the other young men running around their yards in pretend helmets and throwing toy rockets into the air, he was given a “complete” set of the actual Lunar Module Pilot Study Guides in 1968. Hey everyone! I just wanted to drop this quick bonus episode to let you guys know about another really exciting UFO docuseries coming out this Sunday, October 27th on MGM+ called Beyond: UFOs and the Unknown. This series from JJ Abrams' production company Bad Robot features Whitley Strieber, Jeff Kripal, Garry Nolan, Leslie Kean, Chris Mellon, Jay Christopher King, Tim Gallaudet, Mitch Horowitz, and many more. And hey, guess what? I'm in it, too. It looks like it's shaping up to be a fantastic show, and it is an absolute honor to be involved in this project next to so many people that I admire. In this episode, I sat down with Co-Executive Producer, Kevin Lincoln to hear more about the show and about the process that he and his team went through to bring this to life. I've been very impressed with Kevin and his team and how far they were willing to go to chase this story down all the strange rabbit holes that you find on this path. Kevin is a very intelligent and extremely well-read guy, and this was a fun conversation that made me even more excited to watch the show. —Kelly

In this episode of No Dumb Questions, we dive deep into the world of TV writing and what it truly takes to make it in Hollywood. As someone who's always been captivated by the entertainment industry, today's topic is particularly exciting for me. And to make it even better, we have an extraordinary guest who's worked on incredible shows like Loot and Superstore—plus, she's collaborated with comedy royalty like Maya Rudolph! Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to Vicky Luu —an incredibly talented writer and producer in her own right. This episode feels especially personal because Vicky is not only a powerhouse in Hollywood, but she's also my partner Ray's older sister ;) We're going to explore Vicky's journey from her early days as a Production Assistant on shows like Family Guy and the 90210 reboot, to her rise as Co-Executive Producer of hit series like Superstore and Loot. Over the past two years, I've come to see just how humble and down-to-earth Vicky is, despite her quiet success. She's truly one of the most genuine people I've met in this industry. So, let's give a warm welcome to Vicky Luu!

We have something a little different on today's Cryptid Creator Corner, but I think it's a conversation you are really going to enjoy. I'm chatting with Aaron Waltke, the Co-Executive Producer and Co-Head Writer for Season Two of Star Trek: Prodigy, which is available now on Netflix. I have been a fan of Star Trek for as long as I can remember. Star Trek: The Next Generation started when I was 8 years old and I was hooked. I started watching Star Trek: Prodigy with my 11 year old daughter Charlotte and we both loved it: the characters, the fun of it all, the adventure, so I was delighted to chat with Aaron about Prodigy and being in the writer's room and now co-Head Writer for Season Two. But don't worry if you tune in for comics talk because Aaron wrote one of the stories in this year's How to Lose a Guy Gardner in 10 Days and we discuss how that opportunity came about and how he approached writing Red Tornado. I hope you give this one a listen and indulge me as I nerd out with a fellow Trekkie and be sure to watch Season One and Season Two of Star Trek: Prodigy now on Netflix. From Netflix After discovering an abandoned Starfleet ship, a ragtag crew of young adventurers unites to explore the galaxy and evade a ruthless overlord. Our episode sponsors After the Realm Don't miss Eisner and Harvey award winning comics creator Michael Avon Oeming's newest crowdfunding project After The Realm. David Stenn was hired by the TV series Hill Street Blues immediately after graduating from Yale, becoming the show's youngest writer ever. David then wrote She Was Marked For Murder, an NBC movie that earned an Edgar nomination from the Mystery Writers Guild of America.David returned to television as Producer of 21 Jump Street, then Supervising Producer of Beverly Hills, 90210. David's first biography, Clara Bow: Runnin' Wild, which was published by Doubleday and edited by no less than Jacqueline Onassis, became a national bestseller. Variety raved, "Only rarely will you find a book that is as total a winner on every level as Clara Bow: Runnin' Wild." His second biography, “Bombshell: The Life and Death of Jean Harlow, again, edited by Jacqueline Onassis, was cited by the New York Times as one of the year's notable books.“It Happened One Night…At M-G-M,” David's discovery for Vanity Fair of Hollywood's best-suppressed scandal, brought vindication to rape survivor Patricia Douglas after sixty-six years in hiding and is now considered an historical progenitor of the MeToo movement. The story was adapted into Girl 27, a documentary film that David directed. I've read David's excellent book on Clara Bow and seen Girl 27. Both are powerful pieces about Hollywood's long history in how power players treat both celebrities and those who wish to become celebrated.David then served as Co-Executive Producer of The L Word and Supervising Producer on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. His most recent screenplay assignments have been for Martin Scorsese; Leonardo DiCaprio/Warner Bros.; and Working Title.David is a passionate supporter of film preservation. LOL-eros! This is a very special episode of Latinos Out Loud, recorded at WBCR, the CUNY Brooklyn College radio station, and it was produced by some of the students of @RachelLaLoca's Advanced Radio and Podcasting class! Shout out to them (they just got closer to getting an A in the class LOL)! On this episode, Rachel connected virtually with Co-creator, Writer, Co-Executive Producer and Co-star of the hit NBC comedy series “Lopez vs. Lopez, Mayan Lopez! The two Latinas chatted about their improv and sketch comedy training, Mayan being an alum of Second City Chicago and Rachel being an alum of UCB NY, and the representation (or lack thereof :/) of Latinas in that field of comedy training, as well as how that training is utilized in Mayan's performances on set. She also shared what it's like to work with her father, the iconic, George Lopez on this, the second season of the HILARIOUS TV show. Rachel was lucky enough to see a live taping of the show while out in LA a few weeks back, and recounts the incredible wit and flawlessness in watching the Lopez Vs. Lopez action LIVE. Mayan is killing it right now, having just served as a guest judge on Rupaul's Drag Race! ABOUT LOPEZ VS LOPEZ Once-estranged father and daughter George and Mayan navigate dysfunction, reconnection, and all the headaches and joy in between as they make up for lost time like only they can. With George back in the picture, he can always be counted on to provide Mayan with some unconventional parenting advice about her son Chance — while saving a few lighthearted barbs for her boyfriend, Quinten, for good measure. 2021 marked the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre - a horrific attack white people waged against Greenwood, a once prosperous Black neighborhood in north Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also in 2021, state legislators passed a law that limits how race is discussed in classrooms. Tulsa activists say HB 1775 prevents descendants of those who built Greenwood from being able to acknowledge the attack, and also Greenwood's success. In response, activist Kristi Williams rallied her community to start Black History Saturdays, where 120 Black Tulsans are using an intergenerational model to learn their history.
