Brett & Dani say goodnight to Jankie, Julie & the dawgs in the crib as they recap the finale episode of #bb26 which saw Chelsie take home the prize in a powerful unanimous victory over Makensy in the final two. Also -- was Julie's finale night looks the best or worst of the season? How did #bb24 winner Taylor Hale do in her first appearance as the moderator of the jury roundtable and where does Chelsie's win rank in the list of all-time Big Brother winners? Wrapping up the episode, they take some listener emails and Dani shares a Criterion Collection recommendation. You may never fly again. False information generates risks, both in flight control systems and voting machines. People are going to go to jail for what's coming. Trump should remove all Lockheed, Benchmark and Honeywell Intertia Reference Systems. Rip them out. Reviewing famous airplane accidents. Were IRU's, Flight Management System (FMS), gyroscopes and accelerometers involved? AI does it all now. The brain circuitry that flies an aircraft. Pilots cannot bypass IRU's. Freedom pilots are used for a little footprint and big findings. Preloaded problems from the start. Spoofing false signals is risky too. The biggest threats are during manufacture. Corporate will blame the pilots and not the system. The same concerns are magnified with missiles. Redirection or failure is a planned option. Accurate real time info is crucial. Deadly issues come from compromise. Factory security is critical too. No black site production and secure manufacturing processes only. Keep it tight. Minor data spoofing can marginalize everything, including flight paths and targets. So much has happened in North Dakota. The long ten year fight is finally paying off.

Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This week on the pod we're joined by David Combs of Bad Moves and also of Dim Wizard. We're talking about Ted Leo & the Pharmacists' fourth studio album, Shake the Sheets. Which is actually 20 years old. We chat a lot about growing up in the DC area, the meaning of lyrics and politics in music. David's band Bad Moves just released a new single, "Let the Rats Inherit the Earth." It's really good. Hour 4 with Dorin Dickerson and Adam Crowley: Alex Nylander scored a hat trick for Columbus. Remember when he played for the Penguins? Nothing's going right. Sometimes players just need opportunities. Crowley blames Mike Sullivan. He isn't trying new things. Nothing is working. We think about what Sidney Crosby is thinking. Things aren't working now. Would Crosby rather lose with his guys rather than risk a long rebuild with new players? This is a bottom 10 team in the NHL. Diontae Johnson thinks he is worth a ton of money and reportedly might be trying to get traded. Mark Kaboly said yesterday he thinks Johnson might be forcing his way out. He's in the final year of his contract. Social media's biggest loser: Arch Manning.

The Penguins made a move, but it doesn't look like a good one. Did Ron Hextall fail again? Should we give the acquisition of Mikael Granlund a chance? Poni said there are very few times when you have a take that is not met with contrarian arguments. But the call to fire Hextall is one that seems to be universally agreed upon. Poni called Hextall the most hated figure in Pittsburgh sports right now. NHL analyst Mike Kelly from NHL Network joined the show. Mike talked about Mikael Granlund, who the Penguins acquired last night, and what he can bring to the table. He talked about a few players that should've been on the radar of Ron Hextall. He said the Pens should be buyers, but the teams ahead of them in the Eastern Conference really loaded up. Mike doesn't think this move makes the Pens a contender this year and isn't sure if it truly gets them there in the future. Mike commented on Teddy Blueger getting shipped to Vegas from Pittsburgh. Mike gave his thoughts on JT Miller and if he would have been a clear better option than Granlund. Mike said the Pens have to live with what they have right now and readdress things in the off-season. Mike said the ceiling for the Penguins is a first-round playoff upset, but doesn't see any way they can go on any sort of run. Multiple awkward moments between AJ Burnett and Ron Cook today.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with David & Daoud of Bad Moves this week. The punk band out of Washington, DC just released one of the best albums this year in Untenable. Plus, we discussed how the band formed (a pretty awesome karaoke night) and some other epic stories about the group. Give them a follow on social media (badmovesdc)!
Bad Moves recorded this album before the pandemic, but it's even more relevant now. In these days of constant crisis and a devastating wealth gap, are you still having a good time? Because Bad Moves is, and their fantastic second record is here to help.

When you're preparing for retirement, it’s easy to over focus on the big question; “Do I Have Enough Money to Retire?” While that’s obviously an important question, there are many other bad moves that can derail a successful retirement. One of the biggest is the failure to create a written income plan, which describes where your income will come from in retirement. An appropriate retirement income plan accounts for all your income and expenses and identifies any gaps. In the absence of such a plan, it’s all too easy to make mistakes that can sabotage your retirement. Many Americans ignore or underestimate long-term care expenses. That can be costly since 52% of people turning 65 will need some type of long-term care during their lifetimes. In an era with rock-bottom interest rates, putting too much money into interest-bearing bank accounts is another potential problem. Because banks offer deposit insurance protection, you may fail to realize how inflation is eroding your purchasing power. Every retirement income plan must factor in the cost involved in healthcare, inflation, and low interest rates.
This week we welcome Michael Brooks back to the show! Tim Clift, chief investment strategist at Envestnet, says that even the current downturn -- as big as it has been and could grow to -- ultimately will become a blip on an investor's radar, which is why it's important to hold fast to financial plans and not make nervous moves that alter asset allocation, typically at just the wrong time. Empirically, Clift says he has not seen individual investors getting panicky, though he notes that a prolonged slowdown and a market drop could change behaviors for the worse. Also on the show, Tom Lydon of ETFTrends.com makes a new ETF with an unusual strategy his 'ETF of the Week,' Ande Frazier of myWorth talks financial priorities when money gets tight, and Art Amador of the AI Powered Equity ETF talks investments selected using artificial intelligence in the Market Call

It's week 6, and there is still no shortage of indie music talent! This week's show slants a little more alternative and post modern with a touch of "shoegazi," but nonetheless every single song is an amazing earworm quality track. Check out music by Fate Under Fire, Caroline Dare, Motion Hotel, Bad Moves, Whale City, Starframes, replays of the Emilies -- Emily Hackett and Emily Anderson -- Big Time Kill, Madison Mueller, Light Scene Factory, Creux Lies, The D0ct0rs, The Rain Within, and the usual antics of hosts Fresh and Felicia on episode 006 of IOL. (Note - the original file edited by our intern has been replaced with this one. Sorry about that! But that's how you learn a trade :)

On this edition of All Songs Considered, we lean toward contemplative songs with fuzzy guitars. NPR Music's Marissa Lorusso and I premiere new music from Jeff Tweedy. His new album Warm looks at life as it nears that moment when the great piano labeled "death" is about to drop from the sky. The band Charly Bliss writes its first love song, Allen Tate takes a second break from San Fermin to make an inward-looking track of self-reflection, Bad Moves thoughtfully steps between adulthood and youth and Saint Sister lights up an ethereal harp driven tune. Also: We are joined by intern Kristy Guilbault to hear Yowler yowl.
Veterans of the D.C. music scene teamed up in 2016 to create the power-pop power group Bad Moves. The band’s debut album, Tell No One, drops on Friday, Sept. 21 and tells serious stories wrapped in cheery chords and shout-along-able melodies. Washington City Podcast host Will Warren talked to guitarists David Combs and Katie Park and bassist Emma Cleveland (you’ll have to listen to their music to hear drummer Daoud Tyler-Ameen, who wasn’t available to talk at the same time as the rest of the band) about their hopes for the new album, writing songs from an adolescent perspective, and voice acting on animated show Craig of the Creek.
In which Erik finally tackles his deep-seated and ill-placed rage, Piers finally owns up to some of his many bad moves, and special guest JEFF GROUT finally comes out to the oil rig to share some of his deepest and specialist thoughts.
On this stripped down episode of the podcast, we hear music from two Canadian artists and two bands from the Washington D.C. area. Haley Blais, Kathryn Berry, Bad Moves and Hungry on Monday

Clinical Neuropsychologist Barbara Sahakian explains why some people find it difficult to make decisions that are beneficial to them, and how drugs could help. Like this podcast? Please help us by supporting the Naked Scientists
Professor Sahakian discusses the process of normal decision-making – our strategies, biases that affect us and influential factors. She will describe the abnormal patterns found in patients with conditions such as severe depression, Alzheimer’s and accidental brain damage. Examining how the brain can be manipulated to improve cognitive function in these patients, she will consider the use and the ethical questions of ‘smart drugs’.
