Auf der Suche nach einem Thema für unsere Geburtstagsfolge von Tales of Us- die Nummer 53 - sind wir erst in die Ferne geschweift, aber das Gute lag am Ende ja so nah. Tales of Us wird mit dieser Folge bereits ein Jahr alt. Das macht uns schon ein wenig stolz und zur Feier des Tages haben wir natürlich auch wieder unseren Freund Kalli dazugeholt. Selbstredend! Geredet und schadroniert haben wir über unsere Heimatstadt: Gießen! Manisch wurde wenig gesprochen bisher, aber keine Angst dazu werden wir noch mal exklusiv eine Folge machen. Neben Lustigem und Informativem zu Gießen gab es auch einen kurzen Exkurs zu Marburg und dem Fakt, dass die Verschlüsse von Plastikflaschen nun an der Flasche bleiben. Das war ein wenig abseits des Themas, aber wer Folge 52 gehört hat, weiß schon dass wir dieser Portion Obskurem auch ein paar Minuten widmen wollten. Kommt wie immer gut in die Woche und bleibt uns gewogen. Hvordan var det å starte med instrumentet som alle rockeband gjemte bak scenen på 80-tallet? Når skjønte Geir at det var musikk og rock som måtte bli greia? Her må vi også innom oppveksten i Ballangen i Nordland - (visste du at det var her Anni-Frid Lyngstad fra ABBA levde sine første år?) Og for et låtvalg! El grupo estuvo en activo desde 1984 a 1993, y fue reformado en 2001. Tras la marcha de Tom Gabriel Fischer en 2008, Celtic Frost decidió separarse de nuevo. La banda tomó como inspiración a grupos de heavy metal como Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, Venom, de rock gótico como Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees y Christian Death y el grupo de punk rock Discharge. Celtic Frost se formó a finales del mes de mayo del 1984 por Tom G. Warrior en las voces y la guitarra, Martin Eric Ain en el bajo (ambos ex-miembros de Hellhammer, un grupo de culto en el underground y pionero del black metal) y el baterista Isaac Darso. Unas semanas después de la formación de la banda, Darso abandonó Celtic Frost siendo reemplazado por Stephen Priestly (que anteriormente había sido músico de sesión en Hellhammer). En 1984 graban su primer álbum, Morbid Tales, que fue un éxito en la escena del metal underground, y permitió a la banda realizar su primera gira en Alemania y Austria y a finales del año contratan al baterista de origen estadounidense Reed St. Mark.En agosto del año siguiente publican su segunda grabación, el EP Emperor's Return. En octubre su publica uno de sus álbumes más influyentes, To Mega Therion, que no cuenta con Martin Eric Ain al bajo (pues éste se separó unos meses de la banda), su sustituto fue Dominic Steiner; sin embargo, Ain volvió poco después de la publicación del álbum. La portada de este álbum, realizada por el artista suizo H.R. Giger está considerada una de las mejores de la historia, además Giger colaboraría con la banda en el futuro al dirigir el videoclip "A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh" y diseñar la guitarra de Tom G. Warrior. Al año siguiente sale a la venta su segundo EP, Tragic Serenades. El tercer álbum, Into the Pandemonium, se publicó en noviembre de 1987. Éste álbum tiene un sonido más variado que su antecesor y se aleja del metal realizado por Hellhammer. Celtic Frost, junto con Mercyful Fate, Venom y Bathory fueron los pioneros en la escena del black metal, aunque Celtic Frost eran mucho más experimentales, con la adición de instrumentos clásicos y voz operística femenina. A menudo se les dio el título de avant-garde metal.Después de una posterior gira por Norteamérica (en la que contaron con un segundo guitarrista, Ron Marks), los problemas financieros, las tensiones personales entre los miembros de la banda y una mala relación con su sello discográfico llevó a una disolución completa del grupo. Se presentó material inédito, re-grabaciones de versiones de canciones antiguas y algunas versiones de estudio del período de sesiones, cerrando el capítulo de una de las bandas underground y experimentales más importantes de todos los tiempos.Varios años después de la disolución de Celtic Frost, y después de algún tiempo fuera de la industria musical, Fischer fundó un nuevo grupo, llamado Apollyon Sun con su amigo de la infancia Erol Unala a la guitarra a mediados de los años 90. Apollyon Sun grabó un EP, God Leaves (And Dies) y un álbum de estudio, Sub. El séptimo álbum de estudio de Celtic Frost fue financiado por la propia banda a través de su propio sello, Prowling Death Records, e impreso por Diktatur des Kapitals. Prowling Death Records fue creado orginalmente como un sello underground que publicó las demos de Hellhammer entre 1983 y 1984. Wenn die Melodie sich in unsere Ohren verkriecht, sich Gänsehaut ankündigt, dann möchten wir sie am liebsten auf ewig hören, diese Musik. Aber was hören wir da eigentlich? Die Rede ist vom Synthesizer, der den Pop um sein Subgenre Synthie-Pop bereichert. Synthpop scheint auf den ersten Blick kalt und unnahbar zu sein, doch das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Der Takt prescht voran, eingängige Melodien und Akkordabfolgen vermengen sich, auf einmal kommt etwas „Kaltes“ hinzu, das nur auf den ersten Blick mit den anderen Komponenten kaum vereinbar scheint; fügen sich doch die elektronisch hervorgebrachten Sounds zu einem wohlklingenden Ganzen, ein Peter Heppner, der eindringlich an ein "Wir Sind Wir" appelliert, Apoptygma Berzerk mit einem durchgequirlten "Unicorn", Black Nail Cabaret, Torul oder Zoodrake - Synthpop ist warm und voller Emotionen, voller Gefühle, voller Harmonien.

Was für ein Fest! Zum mittlerweile neunten Mal eröffnete das E-Tropolis Festival 2019 das große Festival-Jahr und lud über 4.000 Besucher in die Turbinenhallen nach Oberhausen. 14 Bands und diverse namhafte DJs sorgen für eine geballte Ladung Energie. Legenden, energischer Synthpop, brachiale Beats, Stromklang aus dem Transformator, Hymnen aus Stahl und ein Schuss 8bit-Nostalgie versprachen elektrisierende Stunden auf dem Dancefloor. Getreu dem Motto "Bässer - Härter - Lauter" ließ es das E-Tropolis 2019 so richtig krachen mit Bands wie den Krupps, Apoptygma Berzerk, Suicide Commando, Solar Fake, Welle Erdball, Rroyce und vielen anderen.
