This week, the Pidgin's theme is kicking and screaming. Inside of each of us, there's a little kid who wants to fly into a rampage when things just aren't going right – so we're gonna be digging into those times where you just want to put up a fight, give it your all, and lose control. First, Lauren Kim and Ariel Chen set the tone by talking to us about how adults have their tantrums. Next, Pat Grate talks the DIY music scene with Don Giovanni records, an independent record label, about going against the grain. Finally, Maya Kenny and Sena Chang discuss the value of emotions in sports. Hosted and produced by Natalia Maidique. Reported, recorded, and produced by Lauren Kim, Ariel Chen, Pat Grate, Maya Kenny, and Sena Chang. All music used under Creative Commons license. Theme music: "Montanita," by Ratatat. This week on Transmissions: Camae Ayewa, better known as Moor Mother. As one-half of the Black Quantum Futurism collective, a creative project she founded with Rasheedah Philips, Ayewa has focused her considerable energies on “the manipulation of space-time in order to see into possible futures, and/or collapse space-time into a desired future in order to bring about that future's reality.” As the front-person of the incendiary jazz punk group Irreversible Entanglements, she's let it rip on a series of albums released by International Anthem & Don Giovanni Records. Last year's Protect Your Light found the band moving to the legendary Impulse! Records. Along the way, she's released records under the Moor Mother banner, like 2021's Black Encyclopedia of the Air and 2022's Jazz Codes. Her latest is The Great Bailout, a record that functions at times like a sonic horror movie, while also possessing tremendous passages of beauty. Joined by guests like Lonnie Holley, Kyle Kidd, and Sistazz of the Nitty Gritty—past Transmissions guest Angel Bat Dawid delivers an absolutely breathtaking clarinet solo out ‘South Sea”—the album finds Moor Mother transmuting jazz, noise, rock, folk, gospel, classical music—melting down genres in a poetic churn. Moor Mother plays history and time like a science fiction story, bending temporal moments in a psychedelic flurry. This conversation flows in similar way. Join us to jump through timelines, ponder the Mandela Effect, and untangle histories with Moor Mother on Transmissions. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast, we've got a rare trio episode for you, since two of our guests created something very cool together: Jo Firestone, Marissa Paternoster, and Joe Steinhardt. I'll start with Jo Firestone, the actor, writer, comedian, podcaster, game inventor, and probably some other stuff that I'm forgetting, who you may have seen on the show Joe Pera Talks With You or, like a million other things. She's done stand-up specials and albums, she's written for The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and she hosts the game-centric podcast Dr. Gameshow. Firestone is currently the head writer on After Midnight, the comedy/game show hybrid that airs late every night on CBS. In other words, she's busy. But not too busy to chat with her friends Marissa Paternoster and Joe Steinhardt about their new graphic novel, Merriment. You may recognize Paternoster are the singer and guitarist for the amazing, recently broken up band Screaming Females, and Talkhouse readers and listeners may even recognize her illustrations, which have appeared on the site over the years. Paternoster continues to make music, but the focus of this chat is Merriment, her first graphic novel. Paternoster put her eerie, singular images to a story by her old friend Joe Steinhardt, head of the long-running independent label Don Giovanni Records, which has been home to a number of incredible bands over the past two decades, including Screaming Females. These three have a fun, loose chat about Merriment, which in case I didn't say it yet, you should definitely check out, as well as Steinhardt's not-so-secret desires to be a comedian, Paternoster's can't-fail movie idea, how Firestone was once tasked with selling St. Louis pizza with a New York attitude, and a game I'd never heard of called “Somebody Pooped in the Salad.” Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Jo Firestone, Marissa Paternoster, and Joe Steinhardt for chatting. If you liked what you heard, please follow Talkhouse on your favorite podcasting platform, and check out all the great stuff at Talkhouse.com. You'd think if you have Joe Steinhardt from Don Giovanni Records and Marissa Paternoster of Noun and Screaming Females, you might talk a lot about their legendary impact on New Brunswick's basement scene. Or at the very least about their great new graphic novel, Merriment. Nope. This is New Jersey is the World, so we're talking about the Northeast Corridor train line! (First aired on WUTC 1/13/24)"Marissa Paternoster is one of the best guitar players alive.” -Kathleen HannaA band lasting for half the lifetime of its members, Screaming Females has long been pounding out their own desire path. Formed in 2005 in New Brunswick, NJ, the trio has consistently created a hearty, surprising mix of indie-, alt-, punk- and stoner-rock, all with their original line-up of Marissa Paternoster (guitar/vocals), “King Mike” Mike Abbate (bass) and Jarrett Dougherty (drums).Released on February 17th, 2023 by Don Giovanni Records, Screaming Females' final album, Desire Pathway, was recorded at Minnesota's Pachyderm Studios. Bright and full, the album captures the band at a time when nothing was certain other than their abiding desire to make music together. For 18 years and eight albums, Screaming Females have clearly created their own path in the world, touring DIY, self-managing, and releasing music without compromise. The route might cut a little off the main road, but you'll quickly see there's a reason they went this way. You just might like where it leads you! Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This week on the pod I'm joined by Amos Pitsch of the band Dusk, and also of Tenement. We talked about NRBQ's 1972 album, "Scraps" We chat about the history of the band, the definition of power pop and branching out with your songwriting. So, if you're coming here as a big NRBQ fan, then just to note, there's tons we don't know about the history of the band. This chat is really more about our shared experience with discovering NRBQ. Speaking for myself, I'm a pretty new fan, somehow only really digging in over the last three or so years. Right after my chat with Amos I watched this very informative A&E piece on the band that really fills in a lot of holes we both had during our conversation. And if you're pretty new to the band yourself, I'd highly recommend that piece, if just for the hi-jinks the band pulls during it. Another piece worth checking out is Connie Chung's piece on the band from the late 1980s. With all of that said, I had a lot of fun catching up with Amos and really loved his band Dusk's newest album, Glass Pastures. Check it out now on Don Giovanni Records. https://countrydusk.bandcamp.com/album/glass-pastures Subscribe to our Patreon here: www.patreon.com/spinningoutpod Follow us on social media -- twitter and instagram (@Spinningoutpod)

Alice Bag in conversation with David Eastaugh https://alicebag.com American punk rock singer better known as Alice Bag. She is the lead vocalist and co-founder of the Bags, one of the first punk bands to form in Los Angeles in the mid-1970s. Her first book, Violence Girl: From East LA Rage to Hollywood Stage, tells the story of her childhood in East Los Angeles, her eventual move to Hollywood, and the euphoria and fallout from the first punk wave. Bag has remained active in music since the late 1970s and released her second book in 2015. She released Alice Bag, her debut solo album on Don Giovanni Records in June 2016. A second solo album, Blueprint, was released in 2018, followed by 2020's Sister Dynamite.
DIY and punk trio Screaming Females have pioneered an uncommon path through the underground and the larger music business since their inception almost twenty years ago. They've released their eighth studio album this year, titled Desire Pathway, now out on Doni Govani records. Ahead of their Chicago stop on their spring tour, vocalist and lead guitarist Marissa Paternoster and drummer Jarrett Dougherty talked with Features Co-Director Mick R. about the state of their creative process and its democratic underpinnings, the contributions of producer Matt Bayles to their latest record and their steady and supportive relationship with Don Giovanni Records. Screaming Females will be playing at the Corbra Lounge in Chicago on April 19th w/ Generacion Suicida and The Mimes Find Desire Pathway at https://www.dongiovannirecords.com/ If you're truly having like a democratic creative process where everyone gets to chip in their two cents, you're never going to get exactly what you like, or might absolutely desire. But the whole beauty of being in a band is that ... you come up with something together that you never even expected. - Marissa Paternoster. Produced by Mick R. Image Credit: Krista Schlueter
There's a new Screaming Females album released next week, on February 17th, as ever, on Don Giovanni Records. Called Desire Pathway, it is, as ever, a thrilling thing, with some of the best songs the New Jersey band have written – and some of singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster's most exciting licks – in the group's 17 years of history to date. I've loved Screaming Females for years. They're one of my very favourite bands. I've wanted to talk to Marissa for ages and ages. And so I'm surprised that when I did, I wanged on so much about Bigfoot. This week, Alt Press put out a pretty great article tracing the history and impact of New Brunswick's basement music scene. We figured this was a perfect opportunity to pull our episode on the NJ music scene out from behind the Patreon paywall where it's lived for over a year. If you're not a Patron, enjoy for the very first time this look into Jersey's legendary music scene, featuring quotes from members of The Front Bottoms, Night Birds, Screaming Females, Worriers, Don Giovanni Records, Long Neck, GDP, and Mikey Erg, as well as reminiscences about times spent at legendary shows and venues all over this state. Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Today we're talking with Paisley Fields. We talked about Gram Parsons' final album "Grievous Angel." We talk about how even as well known as Parsons' music seems to be, why he seems to still be something people have to dig a little for, when compared to his peers. We also talk about queer culture and identity in country music, which is still rooted in a fairly heteronormative tradition. Paisley Fields released "Limp Wrist" recently on Don Giovanni Records. Franz Nicolay has maybe the longest and most varied resume of any Left of the Dial guest. You likely know him best from his work with The Hold Steady and World/Inferno Friendship Society, and of course, his own solo work. He's also a novelist, travel writer, journalist, professor, and just an all around brilliant and thoughtful person. This week, he joins Andrea and our on-call substitute co-host Doug Keller to talk about so many things, including the long and winding process of making an album, writing fake songs for books, the art of the bridge, the necessity of revision, crying over Randy Newman, and, of course, Stephen Sondheim. He's also here to talk about his beautiful new album, New River, out today, (Nov 11th) on Don Giovanni Records (digital or vinyl).Catch Franz live this month:Nov 18 - Bar Freda, Queens NYNov 19 - Quarry House Tavern, Silver Spring MDNov 30 - Brooklyn Bowl, NYCFollow Franz Nicolay on Twitter and InstagramMentioned in this episode:"Where Is My Wandering Boy Tonight"Endless Possibility: A Tribute to Jack TerriclothFollow us on Twitter and Instagram.photo: Tim Davis

Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Today we're talking with Derek Zanetti of The Homeless Gospel Choir. We talked about Beach Boy's 1967 album, "Smiley Smile." We also talk about the Smile Sessions & growing up religious. Which led to both of us playing catch up with our relationships with secular music, dare I say making us obsessive. The Homeless Gospel Choir released their latest album, "This Land is Your Landfill," in 2020 on A-F Records and are set to release a new album on Don Giovanni Records later this year. Supercrush started out as a studio band. They would record songs and put them out, but never really did much after that. At the time, Mark Palm was the rhythm guitarist in a popular metal band. But, he always wanted a project like Supercrush. One that was his own and he gave him the chance to release his personal feelings in music form. Palm is the captain of this ship. The band continues to grow and is much more than a studio band. In 2020 they released “Sodo Pop” on Don Giovanni Records. It was 10 solid songs that served as an introduction to the band for so many music fans out there. This was finally when Supercrush went up a gear. They raised the bar for themselves. The band recently released an EP labeled “Melody Maker” on June 3. It's a collection of five songs that were recorded during the “Sodo Pop” era. Palm recorded 15 songs at that time with the intent of following up the full-length album with an EP. It was his job to pick songs that matched together. “Melody Maker” holds some instant hits like Melody Maker and Hey Christine. Make sure to give it a spin and check them out on their tour which started on June 16. Welcome back, (*both laugh*) fans! We took a little hiatus there for a few but we're back in action. For episode 45, we caught up with Sonia Sturino of the kick ass trio known as Weakened Friends. They're due to put out their sophomore full-length, "Quitter," on November 19th and let me tell you...it's a great one! We talked an awful lot about the band pushing themselves on this record (which was produced by the band's bass player, Annie Hoffman, and engineered by Hoffman and their drummer, Adam Hand) in ways that they hadn't quite before. We also talked about being on tour in March 2020 as the world was shutting down, and getting back out on the road last month in the, I guess we're calling it, "new normal." Oh, and we definitely talked about The Tragically Hip (a band I've quite honestly never knowingly heard) and Our Lady Peace (a band that I've definitely heard and enjoyed for years) and about how cool a record label Don Giovanni is and lots more stuff as well (like our mutual pal Adam Parshall, who is an amazing concert photographer...hi Adam!). This was a lot of fun and everyone should check out "Quitter" ASAP and go catch Weakened Friends on the road with The Beths early next year! -Pre-order "Quitter" from Don Giovanni Records here: https://www.dongiovannirecords.com/store -...or find it on their Bandcamp page here: https://weakenedfriends.bandcamp.com/ -Visit Weakened Friends' website here: https://www.weakenedfriends.com/ -Theme song as always is "Hurts To Laugh" by the lovely and talented Kali Masi. from their 2021 release [laughs].

At the intersection of material culture and critical theory is an ever-changing music industry. Just as popular media formats have evolved over the last century, so have marketing strategies and power dynamics to get those media into the hands of audiences around the world. Host Dr. Melinda Lewis spins tales and unpacks theory with Dr. Joe Steinhardt, Drexel University Music Industry Program Assistant Teaching Professor, avid collector of both obscure and popular music and movies, and co-founder/owner of Don Giovanni Records. "Pop, the Question" is a production of Marketing & Media in Pennoni Honors College at Drexel University. Recorded July 29, 2020 through virtual conferencing (Philadelphia, PA, USA). Welcome to The Discover Tab Dispatch, an audio-experiment from yours truly. Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more. After a week off - thanks kidney stones! - I'm back with a slightly shorter episode for y'all, but an episode nonetheless. As I mention today, this is a bit of an all-over-the-place collection, but it's my hope there's something for everyone in here. Sometimes I wonder if I should tighten the show up with “themes” or keep it loose and freeform when it comes to what I select. It's pretty seat-of-pants already, so I tend to embrace that kind of thing. As I state every week, I would love love love to hear your thoughts, opinions and recommendations, so please reach out either in the comments section below or through Twitter.Show Notes:I got kicked off Spotify! Not exactly the surprise of the century, but since this little project includes full songs I was removed from their podcast database. Probably because I led last week's dispatch with an INXS joint, haha. Oh well! You can still find me on a number of platforms, so search in your Pocket Casts, your Google Podcasts, et al.Today's dispatch features a couple songs from Bruton Music and some mentions of library music. If you're not aware, library music is created with the specific intent to be owned by a company and lent to creatives for many reasons - they need music for television or film, background audio for radio, etc. Often times the musicians creating these works could be imitating a popular style of music, or reaching out into the unknown with electronic mood-setting pieces. A lot of this stuff ultimately ended up as sample-fodder for crate-digging producers, but much of it is just delightful to listen to any time. There's a good primer about the world of library music by Pitchfork, and you can find some great compilation videos (organized by label) on the 11db11 YouTube channel. I've also got a “KPM 1000 & Other Library Favourites” playlist too, so check that out.Later in the episode I mention Don Giovanni Records' response to the recently released Pitchfork essay “What It's Like to Be Black in Indie Music.” Definitely take some time to read both the article, and in the Don Giovanni Records twitter thread.Today's Track List:Geoff Bastow - CommuniqueFlue - Fancy FreeKoshi Miharu - Scandal NightNew Bloods - Oh, Deadly Nightshade!Square Up - Expect ResistanceJames Harpham - AquariumJames Asher - Umbrellas700 Bliss - Ring The AlarmCircus Trees - WickedThat's it, that's all. Being camped up here in our place in Riverwest has been fun some days, sad some others, and in some cases eye opening on how many cool projects I have been able to work on now that we haven't been going out to the bars or shows almost every night. So, since there are no shows going on in the city to talk about, I decided to put together a podcast of some music that you can dance in your place to, or even just relax and enjoy the sounds while you play some video games, have a smoke on your porch and look at your neighbors staring back at you, or to just give you a good laugh (as we need a lot of that right now). Thank you again for tuning in and for telling all your friends about our podcast!! Be sure to check us out on our facebook page as we will be creating some fun videos, and other random things to have fun with you to pass the time. Be sure to please support these go fund me pages for all of those in Riverwest and Bayview who are now out of work due to this fucking virus!! Cuidaos mucho

In this super-long episode of the solecast I'm doing a deep dive into the impacts that streaming and corporate consolidation has had on the music industry. This is a very long episode, clocking in at almost 3 hours. Instead of splitting it up into a multi-part episode I wanted everything in once place, so people could treat this as a mini audio documentary, listen while you have time, pause it and return to it, there is a lot of information here that is important, if you care about music. Hopefully this Megasode format allows you to gain a nuanced and in depth understanding of where the music industry is at, how its gotten to where it is, and how we as artists and listeners can navigate this. First I'm joined by Joe from Don Giovanni Records to talk about how the changes we have seen over the last 20 years have made it increasingly difficult for most independent labels to compete. Joe gives a history of how this consolidation has impacted independent infrastructure from blogs, to record stores to radio and beyond. Don Giovanni is an incredible record label, check out their releases at https://www.dongiovannirecords.com/ For Part two I'm just by journalist Liz Pelly to talk about some of the less considered aspects of how these algorithms are shaping art itself, its ability to surveil moods and advanced forms of marketing. Liz also offers a number of ideas for ways people can reclaim power in this shifting landscape. Check out some of her pieces for the baffler “Big Mood Machine” or “Stream-bait pop.” Then I sit down with my long time friend, collaborator and distribution partner Daddy Kev of Alpha Pup. Kev is an OG from the LA beat scene and is co-owner of Alpha Pup Distribution. He is optimistic about how artists can do in the future and offers a number of suggestions for how those who choose to engage in these platforms can think about maximizing their potential to reach supporters. https://alphapuprecords.com/ Music: True Deceiver Drifts & Floats

I’ve admired the work, songwriting, and guitar shredding of musician, writer, and organizer Amy Klein for years. Amy is an incredibly thoughtful, inspiring, and knowledgeable Brooklyn-based artist and and in this episode she shares powerful reflections about building a life and vision as a feminist musician and writer. In this conversation Amy and I cover a lot of ground, including how she discovered Riot Grrrl in the 3rd grade by stealing CDs from her older sisters room; the influence and inspiration of the book Girls to the Front and how it encouraged her to move from the online community of feminists she built thanks to a blog and tour diary to a real life community with the Permanent Wave group she founded and helped run for several years; how skills from being a performer translated into skills for being an organizer, especially as an introvert; the importance of making things happen, the power of women’s political rage in public; the value of having difficult conversations in person and the pitfalls and danger of online culture; and the lifetime process of creating art that feels authentic to you.In this conversation Amy is really frank and vulnerable about what she’s learned as an organizer and feminist, especially about confronting racism within feminism as a white woman, so i hope that you’ll listen carefully.Throughout this episode, Amy and I make reference to many different books. We’re both writers and avid readers and books have shaped both of our lives. Here are the books we talk about and books relevant to our conversation topics:Girls to the Front: The True Story of the Riot Grrrl Revolution by Sara MarcusYour Art Will Save Your Life by Beth PickensBluets and The Argonauts by Maggie NelsonThe works of Kathy AckerGood and Mad by Rebecca TraistorEloquent Rage by Brittney CooperWhite Fragility by Robin DiAngeloThe experiences Amy shares around organizing highlight a really important factor of building movements and creating social change: So much change actually comes from the small actions and risks we take every day, the ideas we try, and the relationships we build. These may not coalesce into social movements that get written about in the media or talking about on NPR, but they can make a tangible difference in peoples’ lives and have a lasting impact that does on for years. As such, I hope that this episode also serves as a reminder to keep going, especially in these times that are extremely tough. You can find Amy on Instagram at @amytiger and her music on Bandcamp, as well as via the Don Giovanni Records website. This episode features the song “Half Lie” by Taleen Kali. John and Rebecca are joined this week by James Beard nominee Allison Robicelli to talk about a subject dear to all of their hearts.... Pie. Hear about it's utilitarian beginnings, how pies were used as storage, how they became insanely large and how royalty would receive pies full of animals topped with those same animals. We also get some weird pie facts including a famous pie full of lampreys and how joke pies full of live animals became a thing. This week's song is Feeling Good" by Light Beams Courtesy of Don Giovanni Records. Please rate and review us on iTunes. Thanks!
Krystyna attempted to relax on a family vacation by getting another massage (since the last one was so erotic), while Corinne and her dad slipped into a pair of kinky boots (it was really quite innocent). On this week's episode of #GuysWeFucked, the gals of Sorry About Last Night sit down with actress, comedian, author and breast cancer prevention advocate CAITLIN BRODNICK to talk about how she made the decision to bid her titties adieu, drinking to forget your problems, being obsessed with one's husband, having a high voice, nipple selection, and genes! On today's episode I talk to Jade Payne and Mars Ganito of the indie rock band Aye Nako. Formed in 2010, Aye Nako is a New York-based queer punk band who make dissonant and melodic punk music. In 2013, they self-released their first album Unleash Yourself, and in 2015, Don Giovanni Records released their EP THe Blackest Eye. The album saw the band explore personal themes such as abuse and racism, and it garnered a great deal of critical acclaim, ending up on several "best of" lists including both the New York Times and NPR. They were even voted "Best Garage Band in New York" in the Village Voice that year. Their latest album Silver Haze was also released on Don Giovanni earlier this year. This is the website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes, follow me on Twitter.
We're back! Steve and Jason hit the road to talk to new and old friends about the craziest theories the rust belt has to offer. After an intense and poetic concert at Copenhagen Jazzhouse in the cool spring of 2017, we met up with Philly-based artist Moor Mother (a.k.a. Camae Ayewa) for a talk about her inspirations, being expansive, and the ways music can be both a form of warfare and healing. The program features music from her critically acclaimed debut album "Fetish Bones" (Don Giovanni Records, 2016) and recently released songs from the 2017 album "The Motionless Present". Fake Limbs are a noisy rock band who hail from the west side of Chicago, Illinois. Known for creating a kind of “social justice street rock” that’s exhilarating and outspoken, the band formed in 2011 and have released three acclaimed full-length albums, including 2016’s Matronly, which is out now via Don Giovanni Records. Infinite Void: Infinite Void's name might have you thinking black metal, but the Melbourne quartet are firmly planted in atmospheric punk and post-punk, taking cues as much from the members' past punk bands as from the smudged sonics of My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division and Pornography-era Cure. They released their debut self-titled album through Poison City Records in 2012 and had Steven Smith from Scul Hazzards manning the desk for the sessions, and since them have released some very rare split 7” records to keep the ball rolling. Recorded live at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on the 17th of February, 2016. Recorded & mixed by Harvey O’Sullivan. Screaming Females: Mixing equal parts Dinosaur Jr. and Sleater-Kinney, the Brunswick trio of Marissa Paternoster (guitar/vocals), Michael Abbate (bass), and Jarrett Dougherty (drums) strives to embody the spirit of indie rock in its purest form; Screaming Females book their own shows and self-released many of their own records to bring their guitar-driven rock to the people without compromise. In 2007 the band fired its opening shot, self-releasing its debut full-length, Baby Teeth. The band quickly followed up with its sophomore album, What If Someone Is Watching Their T.V.?, which was self-released and later reissued by Don Giovanni Records, with whom the band has enjoyed a good relationship. Between 2010 and 2012, Screaming Females released their fourth album, Castle Talk, and followed up with their fifth album, the Steve Albini-engineered Ugly, in 2012. The band teamed up with producer Matt Bayles to record its 2015 studio effort, Rose Mountain and embarked on a tour that saw them travel to Australia for the first time, from which the set you’re about to hear derives from. Recorded live at the PBS FM Studios in Melbourne on the 8th of August 2016. Engineered by Jeremy Smith. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 6th of November 2016. Show production and engineering: Branko Cosic.

Today marks the first episode of the newish format focusing more on my guests' childhoods, and I couldn't have asked for a better guest, the wonderful musician and writer Larry Livermore. Originally from Detroit, Larry began to get involved with the San Francisco punk scene in the late 1970s. After playing in a number of bands, he co-founded Lookout! Records in 1987 which was the home of numerous bands including Green Day, Op Ivy and Rancid. Larry's also written for Maximum Rocknroll, Punk Planet, and most recently Don Giovanni Records published his memoirs Spy Rock Memories.A few weeks ago, Larry stopped by my Harlem studio and we got in deep about childhood enemies, learning not to be a smart aleck, stories from WWII and The Depression, autos as status symbols, working class consciousness and being on the run from the FBI in late '60s NYC. Plus, in the epilogue, I learn about current day warzone-ish Detroit from my fiancee, stand-up Naomi Ekperigin.A big thanks, btw, to Matt Cohen and Eric Silver for their thoughts on how to further develop the show!Check out our new website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes and see some live dates: on Aug. 31st we'll be live at the Out of Bounds Festival in Austin with director Todd Rohal, Ramesh Srivastava of Voxtrot and more, and the next live episode will be September 3rd for the Beginnings "Writer's Panel" featuring Annie Mebane (Community, The Michael J. Fox), guest co-host Opus Moreschi (head writer of Colbert Report) and more!
