A Friday whiparound episode covers a wide range of topics, including Tiger, Jay, Yasir, and Adam Scott meeting with President Trump at the White House on Thursday, a bevy of golf content coming to streaming services soon, and a ranking of Girl Scout Cookies. Andy breaks out the soundboard early after not using it much in the month of February before Brendan shares some unsubstantiated rumors about Girl Scout Cookie sales inside the moat at PGA Tour HQ. The two then discuss Thursday's meeting between the PGA Tour and Saudi PIF at the White House, which has not yet reached a deal at the time of posting. On the PGA Tour this week, Tosti is off to a hot start in Mexico and Andy wonders why everyone's ready to anoint Jake Knapp as the "Next Big Thing" during his title defense this week. A new sponsor debuts this episode, with Brendan and Andy sharing their new favorite venison from Maui Nui. SGS Golf Advice returns with a listener's list of worst names for golf clubs, a suggestion for PGA Tour practice rounds, and a question about simulator etiquette. Brendan wraps this show up with a Flashback Friday on Mexican golf legend Esteban Toledo and one notable rules issue he encountered during his career.

This episode came on the heels of a traumatic, eight-interview sprint in NYC. As you'll see, this one was particularly chaotic, but the stars aligned to make it happen. Camera switches, bathroom breaks, health concerns, equipment malfunctions, and even a robbery didn't prevent the conversation from coming together. With this in mind, I hope you'll forgive how crazy and inconsistent the video is; the fact that it even got put together is courtesy of my friend and editor Yu Guo (a philosopher who got his PhD from NYU with past guest Paul Boghossian). Given that there's some new intro music, and you're already getting an abundance of distracting production nuggets, I decided to show the soup being made. My thanks go to Richard, who met with me twice in three days (not to mention his wife, who allowed it), and Michael, who put up with me for over four hours. - Robinson P.S. Toward the end of the episode Michael eats a jerky stick from Maui Nui Venison, which is a company operating out of Hawaii that manages the invasive deer population of Maui that is decimating the landscape. Instead of culling the animals and disposing of their bodies, the meat is butchered and sold. It is the only meat I eat, full-stop, and the ethical reasons are sufficient for this, but it is also the best meat that I have ever had. I reached out to Maui Nui and told them that I support what they are doing and would like to be of any help that I can. They gave me this coupon code—ROBINSON—which you can use for 15% off. I am not being paid for this in any way. I believe in what they are doing and I want this model to succeed. People are going to be eating meat for the foreseeable future and I would be happier if it was not factory-farmed meat. So please check Maui Nui out and give them a try! Others are just as sharp, but the interview is an entirely different experience. I feel silly being this dramatic, so forgive me; it just seems that what follows is the proper extended metaphor to describe our conversation. Rashid crackles with energy when he talks, just as if he were a fighter. Even if he's not using his fists, his cadence is like a boxer's and I had to roll with the punches. This was another great one, and as usual I bear very little responsibility beyond sticking it out in the ring. I'm going to resist the urge to make any more boxing comments and instead finish with this: Thanks for listening. - Robinson P.S. On this episode, we have Jacob Muise who is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Maui Nui Venison. Maui Nui Venison is supporting regenerative agriculture with its lineup of venison products made from wild-harvesting the invasive Axis deer population on the island of Maui. Maui Nui Venison is the most nutrient-rich, and protein-dense red meat on the planet. Their stress-free, wild-harvesting methods ethically and responsibly manage the invasive Axis deer population of Maui in an effort to restore ecological balance to the island. In this episode, we learn how Jake went from surfing the frosty waters off of Nova Scotia to the warm waters of Hawaii, the ecological imperative for managing the Axis deer population in Hawaii, and how Jake turned his obsession for Axis deer into the powerhouse brand that Maui Nui is today. Now look, this is a little ‘outside of the box' application of the term regenerative agriculture, and that may not fly for some of you purists out there. But guess what, we don't really care. Because Maui Nui's outcomes in terms of ecological benefit, human nutrition, and community benefit are unquestionably regenerative. And this is the first of two episodes in a row where we feature a brand with a nuanced take on regen somewhat outside of the norm. And the word on the street is there are multiple top-secret reveals buried deep in this episode, so I think you'll want to listen until the very end. Episode Highlights:

Jake Muise, Maui Nui CEO & FOUNDERJake was born and raised in Northern Canada. Adventurous and inquisitive, he followed his gut to Hawaiʻi for college as a D1 athlete. During his years at Mānoa, he was taken in by a Molokaʻi family which was where his relationship with Axis deer began—over holidays and summer breaks, alongside multi-generational subsistence hunters. Over the years, his fascination and respect for this animal grew and after founding a research-based non-profit, the Axis Deer Institute, he took on several projects managing Hawaiʻiʻs invasive ungulates.Maui Nui grew out of his passion to create a full-bodied solution that saw Hawaiʻiʻs deer as both a non-native species in need of active population management as well as an incredible food resource whose sustainability and viability needed to be ensured in the long term. For Jake, hunting and environmentalism in Hawaiʻi are inseparable parts of the same set of actions and concerns.
This episode is brought to you by Cozy Earth, Maui Nui, and Lumebox. We've heard about Dr. Thomas Seyfried's groundbreaking research and approach to cancer as a disease of metabolic dysfunction. Today's guest was inspired by Dr. Seyfried's metabolic approach and conducted his own research on brain cancer cells using ketone-based metabolic therapy and hyperbaric oxygen. His findings were mind-blowing! Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with Dr. Dominic D'Agostino to discuss his extensive research on brain cancer cells placed in ketosis and under the pressure of hyperbaric oxygen. Dr. D'Agostino shares why his findings provide further insight into the idea that cancer cell growth can be metabolically managed. He also discusses how exercise and a low-carbohydrate diet can be used as metabolic therapies to reduce cancer risk. Dr. D'Agostino shares the critical tests we should focus on to assess our metabolic health and the essential supplements that can support ketosis. Is there biotech food on your plate? Foods derived from cell-cultures or made in a lab? How would you know if there was? Elze van Hamelen is a researcher and journalist, and today she covers the topic of "pharma food". This is, in essence, her term for the takeover of our food supply, as we know it, by the tech industry, that results in pseudo foods like lab-grown meat, precision fermentation, and "milk without a cow". Elze unveils today what pharma food looks like, who's backing it financially, and why. She explains why it's problematic and toxic, actually, and how her extensive research compelled her to change her own diet. She also offers insights into what we can do to defend our food freedom and what to look out for when it comes to these so-called "novel foods". On December 28, 2023, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) turned 50 years old. It was enacted in 1973 with almost unanimous support in Congress, with a goal to save plants and animals from extinction. It's considered one of the most important environmental policies in US history, and it transformed conservation. It may have even helped save one of your favorite critters, like humpback whales, bald eagles, manatees, and grizzly bears. To mark the ESA's 50th birthday, we're looking at how it works, how successful it's been, and what its future may look like. Ira starts off by talking with Dr. Judy Che-Castaldo, biologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Branch of Species Status Assessment Science Support. Then, we head to the extinction capital of the world: Hawai‘i. Kāhuli, also known as Hawaiian land snails, live all over the Hawaiian islands. At one point, around 750 species existed, but more than half have gone extinct. Ira talks with two conservationists dedicated to saving the snails: Dr. David Sischo, coordinator of the Hawai‘i Snail Extinction Prevention Program, and Keahi Bustamente, Maui Nui field coordinator for the program.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Jake was born and raised in Northern Canada. Over the years, his fascination and respect for this animal grew and after founding a research-based non-profit, the Axis Deer Institute, he took on several projects managing Hawaiʻiʻs invasive ungulates. Maui Nui grew out of his passion to create a full-bodied solution that saw Hawaiʻiʻs deer as both a non-native species in need of active population management as well as an incredible food resource whose sustainability and viability needed to be ensured in the long term. For Jake, hunting and environmentalism in Hawaiʻi are inseparable parts of the same set of actions and concerns. Jake as always walks us through his life before now. He was a college and professional Volleyball player, went to school in Hawai'i where he quickly put down roots and started his trajectory towards Maui Nui Venison. I met him hunting with some buddies and have been watching his conservation efforts since. He gave us a little insight into his experience since the fires that tore through Maui as well as some community building and service efforts Maui Nui is incorporating. This is a long overdue conversation and we will run it back. Can't wait brother. Yall enjoy and go get some Maui Nui venison. ORGANIFI GIVEAWAY Keep those reviews coming in! In this episode, I describe science-based protocols to set and achieve your goals in a way that maximizes the likelihood of reaching them. I explain how to define a priority and reach a specific goal by systematically assessing the challenge level, measurability, milestones, and action states needed to make progress from start to finish. I also explain research-supported tools to improve your performance during cognitive or physical goal work — including directed visualization, variable reward timing, and optimizing your physical environment. I also dispel common myths about goal setting and achievement. This episode provides a science-supported toolkit of zero-cost strategies for goal-setting, goal-pursuit, and goal-completion that can be applied to any physical or cognitive endeavor. Huberman Lab Key Takeaways Any cold exposure to the skin that you register as jarring or uncomfortable activates brown fat, increasing metabolismTip: don't worry so much about the specific temperature, think more about the difference in temperature between your skin and the waterAfter drop: blood vessels constrict in the cold to keep organs healthy; once you get out of the cold, blood vessels dilate again but the surface is still cold so core body temperature drops and induces a shiverCycling heat and cold? End on cold for best results“Cold is the most potent stressor activator of brown fat.” – Dr. Susanna SøbergPeople who work outside (e.g., farmers) or were more active earlier in life will maintain higher levels of brown fat after age 40Long-term benefits of deliberate cold exposure: lower blood pressure, improve insulin sensitivity, improve metabolism, improve heart rate, better glucose balanceCold & heat dose for optimal results: cold exposure 11 minutes per week, spread out across 2-3 sessions + 10-15 minutes per session (up to 30 minutes per week) The goal is to keep the stimulus, a stimulus – you don't want to build up the ability to hang out in cold for 11 minutes or sauna for an hourThere is a tipping point at which a good, hormetic stressor can feel like chronic stress to the body and you no longer receive additional healthy outcomesTrouble tolerating cold exposure? You will still get all the benefits if you leave your hands out of the water, wear a cap and submerge up to the neck, and/or wear booties on your feetRead the full notes @ podcastnotes.orgIn this episode, my guest is Susanna Søberg, PhD. She earned her doctoral degree at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, researching the effects of deliberate cold and deliberate heat exposure on metabolism and other aspects of human physiology. We discuss how cold or sauna can improve metabolism, cardiovascular and brain health, balance hormones, and decrease inflammation. Dr. Søberg discusses how deliberate cold protocols can improve glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity and trigger release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine which enhance energy, mood, and focus. We compare cold showers and cold immersion, traditional and infrared saunas, and other variables. This episode provides actionable tools and answers to common questions about the use of deliberate cold and heat to improve health. For the full show notes, visit hubermanlab.com. Huberman Lab Key Takeaways Mental training and visualization is best used to enhance speed and accuracy of a skill you already have some proficiency at, not necessarily for learning new things“Mental training and visualization cannot replace execution of real world cognitive or motor tasks you want to learn…but is effective in enhancing the speed at which you learn and the stability of that learning over time.” – Dr. Andrew HubermanPrinciples of mental visualization:(1) mental visualization needs to be brief (15-20 sec) and repeated;(2) mental visualization needs to be combined with real world experience;(3) mental training needs to be similar to real world experience;(4) naming and giving identity to real world skill and applying the same name to visualization enhances learning;(5) it takes longer to perform complex motor sequences in mental training and visualization just like it would in the real worldChoosing between real world training and mental training: real world training is better than mental training; mental training is better than no training; but ideally – you'll use mental training to augment real world training and improve speed, accuracy, and consistencyMental training can also be used to get you to stop or ‘no go' components of motor learning, like restricting inappropriate movements or thoughts (e.g., withholding inappropriate action or action sequence) For this training, it's especially important to perform mental training and real world training in combinationRead the full notes @ podcastnotes.orgIn this episode, I explore the science of mental visualization and its application for learning motor and cognitive skills. I discuss neuroplasticity-based skill development and the roles of focus, sleep, movement restriction, and agitation. I then present five key principles of mental visualization to enhance learning speed, accuracy, and consistency. I also provide examples of specific protocols, including repetitions, rest periods, and session frequency, and how to adapt these methods for injuries or breaks from traditional training. Throughout, I reference the scientific studies supporting these concepts. This episode should allow anyone to learn or teach more effectively through the use of mental visualization and training. I get asked all the time, “If you could use only one supplement, what would it be?” My answer is usually AG1 by Athletic Greens, my all-in-one nutritional insurance. I do my best with nutrient-dense meals, of course, but AG further covers my bases with vitamins, minerals, and whole-food-sourced micronutrients that support gut health and the immune system. Right now, Athletic Greens is offering you their Vitamin D Liquid Formula free with your first subscription purchase—a vital nutrient for a strong immune system and strong bones. Visit AthleticGreens.com/Tim to claim this special offer today and receive the free Vitamin D Liquid Formula (and five free travel packs) with your first subscription purchase! I've been eating Maui Nui Venison for the past two years, and there's no going back. My pantry and freezers are full of it, and I restock every month. Why? (1) If I combine Maui Nui Venison with even a little exercise, I drop body fat unbelievably quickly. (2) It tastes delicious and isn't gamey. (3) Ethically, I feel great about Maui Nui protein, as axis deer are an invasive species on Maui, where their population needs to be managed in order to protect vulnerable ecosystems.Harvested using stress-free methods, Maui Nui's fresh venison is clean-tasting, tender, and one of the most nutrient-dense meats on the planet. Maui Nui is a nearly daily go-to for me, both as a supplement to my daily diet (with broth, jerky snacks, etc.) and through main courses (via their fresh-meat subscription program). I fell in love with this company so much that I ended up investing, which is a rarity.Tim Ferriss Show listeners can get 15% off on practically everything Maui Nui is offering by visiting MauiNuiVenison.com/Tim! Insights from Cal Newport, Tara Brach, Ryan Holiday, and Maria Popova | Brought to you by Maui Nui Venison wildly delicious venison, Eight Sleep's Pod Cover sleeping solution for dynamic cooling and heating, and Athletic Greens all-in-one nutritional supplement. Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is usually my job to deconstruct world-class performers to tease out the routines, habits, et cetera that you can apply to your own life. This episode is something different. It's an experimental format that I'm super excited about, and it's back by popular demand. This is an episode that scratches an itch I've had for years. I am not always able to listen to every great podcast episode out there, even when they are by some of my closest friends. The answer to my predicament was to ask them to send me a top segment from their podcast that I could listen to and—more importantly—also share with you, my dear listeners. My team edited them together, and here we are! This episode is a compilation of 15-to-30-minute clips from some of the best podcasters—and also best interviewees—in the world and certainly some of my favorites. At the beginning of each clip, you will hear an intro from the host and where to find their work and podcast. At the end, I'll also share one or two of my favorite clips from episodes of The Tim Ferriss Show. You can view this episode as a buffet, and I strongly suggest that you check out the shows included. If you like my podcast, you will very likely enjoy the featured shows in this episode. And before you go: Do you like this format? Please let me know on Twitter at @tferriss and also mention @TeamTimFerriss.Please enjoy!Cal Newport: 00:08:39Tara Brach: 00:27:10Ryan Holiday: 00:59:56Maria Popova: 01:11:38*This episode is brought to you by Eight Sleep! Simply go to EightSleep.com/Tim or use code TIM at checkout. *This episode is also brought to you by Maui Nui Venison. I fell in love with this company so much that I ended up investing, which is a rarity.Remarkably, Maui Nui has nearly stabilized Maui's Axis deer population, which means the door to one of the most exclusive proteins on the market will soon be closed. The list of people waiting for invitations to become a Fresh Subscriber is long, which is why I am excited to offer my listeners an exclusive opportunity to bypass the waitlist and get instant access to one of the few remaining subscriptions. Visit MauiNuiVenison.com/Tim to take advantage of this limited-time offer and secure your subscription today. If you are currently on the waitlist, you will get immediate access. Maui Nui will stop offering subscriptions when they reach 8,000 subscribers—when the Axis deer population will have reached equilibrium—so act fast.*This episode is also brought to you by Athletic Greens. I get asked all the time, “If you could use only one supplement, what would it be?” My answer is usually AG1 by Athletic Greens, my all-in-one nutritional insurance. I recommended it in The 4-Hour Body in 2010 and did not get paid to do so. That's up to a one-year supply of Vitamin D as added value when you try their delicious and comprehensive all-in-one daily greens product.*For show notes and past guests on The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast.For deals from sponsors of The Tim Ferriss Show, please visit tim.blog/podcast-sponsorsSign up for Tim's email newsletter (5-Bullet Friday) at tim.blog/friday.For transcripts of episodes, go to tim.blog/transcripts.Discover Tim's books: tim.blog/books.Follow Tim:Twitter: twitter.com/tferriss Instagram: instagram.com/timferrissYouTube: youtube.com/timferrissFacebook: facebook.com/timferriss LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/timferrissPast guests on The Tim Ferriss Show include Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Jackman, Dr. Jane Goodall, LeBron James, Kevin Hart, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jamie Foxx, Matthew McConaughey, Esther Perel, Elizabeth Gilbert, Terry Crews, Sia, Yuval Noah Harari, Malcolm Gladwell, Madeleine Albright, Cheryl Strayed, Jim Collins, Mary Karr, Maria Popova, Sam Harris, Michael Phelps, Bob Iger, Edward Norton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Neil Strauss, Ken Burns, Maria Sharapova, Marc Andreessen, Neil Gaiman, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Jocko Willink, Daniel Ek, Kelly Slater, Dr. Peter Attia, Seth Godin, Howard Marks, Dr. Brené Brown, Eric Schmidt, Michael Lewis, Joe Gebbia, Michael Pollan, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Vince Vaughn, Brian Koppelman, Ramit Sethi, Dax Shepard, Tony Robbins, Jim Dethmer, Dan Harris, Ray Dalio, Naval Ravikant, Vitalik Buterin, Elizabeth Lesser, Amanda Palmer, Katie Haun, Sir Richard Branson, Chuck Palahniuk, Arianna Huffington, Reid Hoffman, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Rick Rubin, Dr. Vivek Murthy, Darren Aronofsky, Margaret Atwood, Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel, Dr. Gabor Maté, Anne Lamott, Sarah Silverman, Dr. Andrew Huberman, and many more.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Meet Jake Muise, co-founder of Maui Nui Venison. The Maui Nui mission is “to help balance Axis deer populations for the good of our environment, communities, and food system. “ In short, Jake and his team are using this invasive species to create a nutrient-dense food source for the people of Hawaii. Maui's coral reefs are fragile and need your help to survive. Please do what's right when you're in the ocean. Never stand or walk on the reef. It kills the coral. Keep your snorkel fins up and away from the reef. And choose only mineral-based sunscreens. On behalf of our reefs and marine wildlife, mahalo. A message from Maui Nui Marine Resource Council and the County of Maui Mayor's Office of Economic Development.
In this episode we had some ocean news including an article on cuttlefish intelligence, dolphins in the Potomac River and an update on the North Atlantic right whales. Adam is officially back on the water, so we get to hear about ocean adventures from all four hosts! We also discussed a recent paper on vessel behavior and humpback whales in Maui Nui, a summary paper on soundscape in the ocean and a recent paper on diet in Southern resident killer whales. Thanks for listening!
