The liver is an organ that does many important things for the body, from reducing inflammation to detoxifying damage from inflammation. To support the liver, one should consume foods that support antioxidant production. Antioxidants help reduce inflammation throughout the body and help protect the heart, brain, and digestive tract from damage. Stress is a major cause of inflammation, and the liver will work overtime to try to reduce it. Consuming foods that support the liver's functions is essential to maintaining good health. The liver produces antioxidants, such as glutathione and NAC (acetylcysteine), which have pro, neurogenic and neuroprotective properties. Glutathione is often given via IV, while NAC is a precursor to glutathione and can be taken as a supplement. The World Health Organization recognizes NAC as an essential medication. In order to support the production of antioxidants, the liver needs nutrients such as vitamins B6, B9, B12, B2, B3, lgutamine, and methionine. The liver also helps regulate hormones, which are signals sent to the brain in response to stress. When we wake up, our body starts producing different hormones as a result of being awake. The liver is a key organ when it comes to hormone regulation. It produces cortisol, which is released to give the body energy in the mornings. It is also responsible for the regulation of thyroid, adrenal, and other hormones. When a woman is going through pre menopause, it is important to assess her liver health, as it directly affects the regulation of hormones. Additionally, the liver has a direct connection to insulin and is crucial for insulin regulation, which can lead to a variety of diseases and disorders if it is not healthy. Timestamps 0:00:04 "Welcome to the Nurse Doza Podcast: Five Tips on Liver Health" 0:02:53 Liver Health: Supporting Antioxidant Production for Optimal Health 0:04:13 The Role of the Liver in Antioxidant Production and Hormone Regulation 0:09:01 The Role of the Liver in Hormone Regulation and Insulin Resistance 0:10:40 "The Link Between Hormone Regulation and Liver Health" 0:16:04 The Impact of Birth Control and Environmental Stressors on Liver Function 0:17:21 The Impact of Poor Liver Function on Estrogen Regulation and the Methylation Cycle 0:21:03 "Tips for Supporting Liver Health with MTHFR Gene" 0:23:06 "5 Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Liver and Hormone Balance" 0:24:39 Heading: Benefits of Taking Liver Love Supplement for Improved Liver Function and Detoxification 0:26:40 "Liver Detox: Tips for Achieving Optimal Health" Highlights It has 16 ingredients in it that support the methylation cycle to support liver function and detoxification and the production of antioxidants. We love talking about the liver, because if the liver helps regulate hormones, then all of a sudden, if your hormones become balanced, you become balanced. So taking a supplement like Liver Love, which I highly recommend everyone does, I take it on a daily basis because it has methylated B Nine in it.. It's going to help improve your life. Use code nurse dosa for 15% off. There's 120 capsules in it, and you can play around with the dosage if you want. Some people take one a day, some people take two a day. But keep in mind, if you go to two to three pills, it's a heavier detox. If you do four pills a day, you're detoxing and cleaning out that storage unit. So be prepared. It's going to be the best thing for you. Number three fast food leads directly to unhealthy liver. One in four U. S. Adults have a fatty liver, which means one in four US. Adults are eating way too much fast food. Cut back on it and replace that type of fat with healthier fat like avocado. That's a great substitute for your liver. Number four bad liver equals bad estrogen for all the women out there. If you want better hormones, especially better estrogen, take care of your liver. Take some sort of supplement to help support your liver, like knack or maybe even milk thistle. And get off the birth control, please. So to recap, I want you to take away five different tips to support your liver health. Number one your liver makes antioxidants. Find the recipe to make yours. Either get an acetylcystein Ivs or start taking glutathione. Number two the liver helps regulate all your hormones. Keep this in mind the next time you're doing blood work because you want to include liver hormone or liver enzyme panels. Along with your hormone panels, ask your practitioner to order it alongside. That's the reason why all of our vitamins are methylated. Because of people like me. Every single Msw nutrition vitamin has methylated factors in it to help support the mthfr gene because people like me need it in order to function better. And on a side note, we'll get into one episode later, but the mthfr gene and the comt gene are directly connected. So if a person has an issue with both, like we mentioned before, it puts them at higher risk for estrogen and dopamine issues as well as detoxification and hormone regulation. That's my genetics. So I'm at higher risk for things like diabetes because of insulin problems with the liver, right? I'm at higher risk for low testosterone and higher estrogen, which could put me at risk for cancer. And then, because all these issues are also involving neurotransmitter production and the brain, what does that look like for vascular dementia down the road for me and cognitive decline?. Anyone that has an Mthfr issue needs to take methylated vitamins in order to support this gene and its many pathways. Some of the methylated vitamins that you could take are methylated B Nine, five, MTHF. There's also methylcobalamin, which is B twelve, and my personal favorite, P five P vitamin B six. I take these on a daily basis along with something known as trimethylglycine or betaine in order for my methylation cycle to work correctly, because I cannot afford to have any Undermethylated liver.

A little bit about Gayatri: Gayatri Saldivar, MS, RDN, CLT, IFNCP is an expert in the art and science of lab-based protocol design to help clients achieve whole-body wellness. Integrating the Kalish method and the science of nutritional genomics into her work, she named her practice 23 Nutrition Therapy. She is certified in Lifestyle Eating And Performance (LEAP) therapy and customizes anti-inflammation and elimination diets.  In this episode, she emphasizes the gut hormone detox connection and how it can lead to symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, sleep issues, and gut problems. Saldivar shares her approach of comprehensive root cause analysis and testing to help clients rebalance stress hormones, heal the gut lining, and support detoxification for sustainable wellness. The episode also explores various testing methods, including gut testing, hormone testing, conventional lab work, and micronutrient testing, as well as the significance of personalized nutrition and lifestyle changes. Practical tips are provided to support gut healing, hormone balance, and detox pathways, while debunking diet misconceptions. Key Points:  • Comprehensive testing is crucial in identifying imbalances in stress hormones, gut health, and detoxification.  • Correcting the gut hormone detox connection in the right order can lead to significant progress in healing and overall well-being. • Detox pathways are evaluated, with a specific emphasis on liver function and glutathione levels. • A clear and structured plan is developed to address specific concerns in a phased approach. • Misconceptions exist on both extremes: thinking diet alone can solve everything or dismissing diet as unrelated to health problems. • Struggling with gut breakdown due to a poor diet but still wanting to consume trigger foods or drinks creates a disconnect. • Quick wins for gut, hormone, and detox health include focusing on chewing food properly and ensuring adequate protein intake.   Whether you're looking to enhance your understanding of your own health or seeking guidance to support others on their health journey, this episode has something for everyone. Welcome to another episode of the Empower Nutrition Podcast! I'm your host, Erin Skinner, and I'm so excited to delve into today's topic with you: gut health 101.  It's not just about avoiding bloating or discomfort – a healthy gut is essential for overall well-being. If you've been enjoying the podcast, please take a moment to leave us a positive review. It really helps us spread the word to those seeking nutritional solutions for chronic challenges related to digestion, metabolism, and hormones. Today, we're going to explore why gut health is so crucial. While most people understand the connection between gut health and digestion, there's a lot more to it. The gut is often referred to as the "second brain" due to its wide-ranging influence on various bodily systems. It produces neurotransmitters and plays a vital role in mental health, immune function, hormonal balance, and even metabolic health. Mental health is closely tied to gut health, and there's well-documented evidence supporting this connection. Additionally, the gut's impact on the immune system is significant, contributing to autoimmune conditions, allergies, asthma, and skin reactivity like eczema and psoriasis. Hormone imbalances also stem from gut health, particularly the estrobolome which affects estrogen levels. Unhealthy gut health can lead to hormone-related symptoms such as PMS, fertility issues, and mood swings. Furthermore, gut health is intricately linked to metabolic health. Many individuals in the modern world suffer from metabolic endotoxemia, where inflammatory elements from the gut enter the bloodstream due to a compromised gut lining. This leads to systemic inflammation affecting insulin sensitivity and hormone signaling, contributing to obesity and metabolic syndrome. The implications of poor gut health don't stop there. It's closely tied to the two main causes of death in Western societies: cardiovascular disease and cancer. Inflammation triggered by gut health issues plays a significant role in the development of arterial plaque and cancer. Even dementia is connected to gut health through the release of inflammatory compounds into the bloodstream, increasing the risk of cognitive decline. Considering these dire consequences, it's clear that prioritizing gut health is vital. While genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle also contribute to health challenges, the gut is a primary driver behind many chronic conditions. Here are some actionable steps you can take to improve your gut health: Fermented Foods: Incorporate fermented foods like live yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and kombucha into your diet. These foods not only provide live bacteria but also essential postbiotic compounds that support a healthy gut. Fiber Intake: Consume a sufficient amount of fiber through non-starchy vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and fruits. Fiber feeds your gut bacteria and supports a balanced microbiome. Prebiotics: Include prebiotic-rich foods such as asparagus, artichokes, berries, and nuts. These special fibers selectively nourish beneficial gut bacteria. Protein Intake: Ensure you're getting an adequate amount of protein, as it supports the turnover of gut lining cells and maintains a healthy gut barrier. Fat-Soluble Vitamins: Incorporate nutrient-dense foods like liver, fatty fish, eggs, and nuts to provide essential fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) that are crucial for immune and gut health. Omega-3 Fats: Consume omega-3 fatty acids from fatty fish or supplements. Omega-3s support immune health, cell integrity, and the production of short-chain fatty acids by healthy gut bacteria. While working on these positive changes, it's also important to minimize factors that harm gut health. Antibiotics, certain medications, alcohol, refined flour, sugar, and excessive use of NSAIDs can negatively impact gut health. Remember, gut health is a multifaceted endeavor, and addressing it requires a holistic approach. By incorporating fermented foods, prioritizing fiber, consuming nutrient-dense foods, and making informed choices about medications and lifestyle, you can significantly improve your gut health and overall well-being. However, the phenomenon is alluding to an imbalance in terms of the levels of your adrenal hormones, related to the signaling between your brain, adrenal glands, thyroid, and gut. Adrenal hormones include cortisol, aldosterone, adrenaline, and noradrenaline. There are actual medical diseases that involve very abnormal levels of adrenal hormones such as Cushings disease – high cortisol.  However, the term ‘adrenal fatigue' refers more to a departure from optimal levels that doesn't reach an extreme. If you suspect adrenal fatigue or an imbalance of adrenal hormones and ask your conventional provider to check you, they will likely test your cortisol levels and tell you that you're normal.  That's becaue they're using the reference ranges for the traditional, overt adrenal disease. However, Empowered Nutrition, we acknowledge that many people have imbalances of their adrenal hormones that impact their health, yet do not meet the traditional cut-offs for overt disease.   Here are some of the things we see with adrenal imbalance: Irregular blood sugar, especially at night and upon waking (CAR) Weight gain, especially central, that is resistant to most diet attempts Anxiety or depression Low energy, especially in the afternoon Low libido Irregular menstrual cycle Symptomatic menstrual cycles: PMS, PMDD, cramping Slow digestion/constipation Feeling cold often Low circulation in extremities Sleep challenges: night waking, hard to get to sleep, early waking Remember, the adrenals are the foundation that then impact the sex hormones and thyroid so you will see symptoms related to any of the three. Some of the most common scenarios where we see adrenal dysregulation are: Busy/tired moms – missing sleep due to kids, just an overall high burden, trying to balance work with parenting and self care Excess fasting Excess high intensity exercise, especially fasted Excess dieting – calorie or carb restriction  Other high stressors: carers, high-stress job, divorce, chronic illness Past trauma: early life trauma that is emotional, sexual, or physical: this can manifest in adrenal dysregulation due to chronic sympathetic tone, event if current life is normal.   If you suspect adrenal imbalance, there are a few ways to test: Indirect: wear a CGM – there are certain patterns that match this.  Specifically, it will be high readings overnight/during sleep and when waking/still fasted. Get a cortisol curve: a one-point test doesn't work.  We use the Adrenocortext from Genova.  It measures cortisol across the day, including the CAR, plus DHEA – an important precursor to cortisol. Combine adrenals with sex hormones: we use DUTCH testing that shows the metabolites on both sides of the coin, from precursors to active hormones to the metabolites.   Whether you test or not, there are few tried and true steps that you can take to support your adrenal health.  These are the things that we find to be most helpful for our clients: Diet: ensure regular meals across a 12-hour period with some slow carb at each meal, coupled with protein and/or fat.  Avoid refined carbs, processed food, and excess caffeine.  Minimize alcohol.  Don't overly-restrict energy – only a minor deficit or none.  Get help if you need it. Sleep: prioritize this.  No blue lights for 3 hours before bed.  Get a tracker if you need to, so that you can quantify it.  The Oura ring will tell you if your sleep is sufficient to keep your HRV, resting heart rate, and body temp optimized. Exercise: avoid fasted, high-intensity exercise, especially caffeinated.  Instead of Crossfit-esque workouts, transition to traditional weight lifting, and cardio that shifts between steady state and occasional FED intervals/high intensity. Mental health: at a minimum, start a daily practice of meditation or biofeedback such as HeartMath.  Get a therapist – almost everyone can benefit.  If you have past trauma especially, look into brain re-training approaches such as the Gupta program or DNRS. Hopefully this helps and feel free to reach out if you want help with assessing and optimizing your adrenal health!   Links from this episode:  DNRS: https://retrainingthebrain.com/ Gupta program: https://www.guptaprogram.com/  Oura ring: https://ouraring.com/  HeartMath: https://www.heartmath.com/  Interested in our Lean for Life Membership? Could a functional hormone panel explain your fatigue and resistance to weight loss? The answer is yes, but it's really difficult to find a solution to hormonal imbalances through conventional testing. Here's why: Hormonal imbalances can cause a multitude of symptoms such as weight loss resistance, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and common menstrual cycle symptoms like mood swings, breast tenderness and PMS. Evaluating hormones through conventional hormone labs are equivocally comparable to looking at a small part of a bigger picture. So, what's the preferred approach for hormone health and what are the reasons why you should get a functional hormone panel? Stay tuned as I unravel the mystery of hormone testing and why the basic conventional markers such as TSH, T4, estradiol, etc., will not give you the whole picture. In this episode, I discuss my top three reasons for a functional hormone panel: The concept of ‘pregnenolone steal' and how chronic stress creates an environment that to make an insufficient amount of sex hormones. Not only looking at sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone, but also testing for an imbalance in the adrenal hormones. This can lead to an irregular cortisol pattern, blood sugar imbalances, anxiety, weight gain, and excessive hunger.  Understanding your risks for breast cancer by evaluating estrogen metabolites. Functional hormone panels are great for looking at the individual pathways of estrogen molecules and whether the estrogen in your body is more prone to being protective or promoting of breast cancer. Liver Health: Tips for Achieving Optimal States

Dr. Nancy Wiley, a super smart woman who graduated from Columbia University and Orthondontist who practiced for 27 years, is now here on Health Is PowHer to share her spiritual truths in her new book, The Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Your Suffering and Find Your Way Home At the age of 12, Dr. Nancy Wiley became fascinated by how certain people seemingly manifest things into their lives --when she manifested a beautiful thoroughbred jumper for herself. After reading The Power of Your Subconscious Mind just a few short years later, she began to understand how she had manifested her own horse that she always wanted. Simultaneously, she also began a lifelong practice of meditation, includingTranscendental Meditation, Holosync (brain waive entrainment), and guided meditations with many teachers, including Jeddah Mali, her most treasured teacher, to whom she attributes the attainment of Unity Consciousness. With her continuing experience and ever-growing confidence in navigating through her inner realm, she was able to reach a state whereby she no longer suffers, no matter what life presents. Her Trust in Source has become unshakeable.  From direct experience, she is now absolutely certain that there is a Divine Presence that wants everyone to know It and Trust It. As a scientist, she has used the field of Quantum Physics to lend a left-brained understanding to what her profound peak spiritual experiences were and how they were possible. After witnessing what she considered a miracle --when her mother was instantly healed from an advanced stage of breast cancer --Dr. Wiley subsequently became a Reiki Master. She now practices many other forms of energy medicine, some of which include EFT (Tapping), Spring Forest Qigong, and Diamond Feng Shui.  In this episode, she discusses how she was guided to write this book, The Divine Trust. To give you the message that you are protected, safe, loved and that everything is unfolding to support you right this very moment.  There wouldn't be any worry, anger, frustration, misery, guilt, shame or any of the other negative emotions, suffering and mind loops that disturb your sense of peace, gratitude, success, wonder and love. I know I wished I had a mentor like this, someone to go to who had figured out many answers to the questions of life. That is why I am have made available a 3 part, one-hour forum that was prerecorded in June of 2022. Here is what we will be discussing: Understanding the design of life to explain the meaning of current events and why they are happening. How these events might bring fear and anxiety and what you can do to lessen your fear. Understanding the foundation of all spiritual practices, miss this one step and you will be building your foundation on shaky ground. Once you get it, you will have a firm ground from which to build your life. Listening to your own intuition and trusting yourself enough to make better decisions for your own life. Through both a short explanation and then a question-and-answer segment, you will leave with a much better understanding of why events unfold as they do. You may be able to breath a little easier and even feel or sense the grace of life. All are welcome! And All are held in a safe and peaceful place! She discusses so many different options, from non-hormonal therapy to supplements and lifestyle changes. I learned so much about vaginal health and what products are not so great for down there and some suggestions to keep that area and vaginal microbiome healthy. Resolving vaginal discharge, itchiness, yeast infections, and more.   Clairvee is one women's health probiotic that I might just try out to give my vaginal microbiome a little diversity. Dr. Dweck discusses the studies on this probiotic are quite powerful.  Dr. Dweck delves into sexual health and outlines an amazing approach for those women who have pain during sex, poor libido, or other discomfort surrounding sex.  We also discuss pycnogenol as a supplement that helps improve blood flow - which is a major benefit for orgasm and sexual health.  Ristela is one of the supplements that she supports.  She discusses pelvic pain, vaginal pain therapies including a hyaluronic acid moisturizer to use 2-3 times per week: Revaree is one of those hyaluronic acid ovules inserted into the vagina on HelloBonafide.com and can be used instead of other pH disrupting moisturizers or lubricants.  Send to your friends as there's so much information here about our women's health and even if they're not dealing with any vaginal, sexual, or menopausal issues - Dr. Dweck discusses a lot on prevention and keeping ourselves healthy through our life cycles.  Dr. Alyssa Dweck has two amazing books out there with her co-authors for women's health, check them out below: The Complete A to Z for your V  The Sexual Spark V is for Vagina Shownotes HERE -------------------------------------------------------------- Our Brain Health Integrative Guide is gone, to make room for a FREE Integrative Wellness Course Module on "How To Aromatherapy for Women's Wellness". Depression, or what is termed medically as major depressive disorder (MDD), is so incredibly multi-faceted that there isn't just one path to healing for everyone who has it.  And yes, you can heal from depression.  There is a small genetic role ~ about 1/3rd of it in some twin studies, but the other 2/3rds is largely environmental, situational, biological, generational, nutritional, spiritual, emotional, metabolic, immune, and so much more.   I talk a little about my experience healing from depression, as a physician, and what it all meant for me.   And then I discuss some of the lesser known therapies (outside of the standard of care of anti-depressants and therapy) that have been studied for major depressive disorder, including acupuncture, hypnosis, aromatherapy, light therapy, saffron, and st. john's wort. This episode is all about bringing light to your amazing self - building self-confidence and faith in oneself to share your love and truth with the world.  We are surrounded by demands and guidance from our co-workers, bosses, leaders, husbands, wives and friends.  Sometimes, we give up our autonomy to these individuals, either because it's easier, or we think we're not good enough as them. They have their opinions and demands of you that might not match your well-being and life force. Our self-esteem and confidence go the wayside when this happens leaving us without our own energy to sustain us. It's like we're giving up our energy to everyone else and not keeping any to ourselves.  Trusting yourself is about having faith in yourself, setting boundaries so you can manage your energy better, and believing in the magic in your veins.  The more you trust yourself, the more energy you have to be your authentic true self and live your truth.  You start to listen to your body more, decrease overwhelm and feelings of being frazzled and exhausted.  Hope you enjoy this episode!!! If anyone has ever worked in their life, then I'm sure they've experienced manipulation or the feeling of being used, influenced, or worse - coerced. Emotional manipulation is a common method to control or influence others, potentially exploiting vulnerabilities, experiences, triggers and past traumas.  Manipulation is fairly common in the work environment and within relationships - friendships, partnerships, marriage. However, many of us feel violated when being manipulated or used without our consent.  We get angry, ashamed, and then guilty for getting angry and allowing the manipulation. Maybe we've encountered so many of these people before, letting them into our lives, always hoping for the best, but they always somehow disappoint.   In this episode, we discuss that manipulation is an energetic drain on you and we give you the tools to shield yourself and take back your power! This is a MUST listen!  Jessie Kanzer talks about her new book coming out March 1st, 2022 "Don't Just Sit There, Do Nothing: Healing, Chilling, and Living with the Tao Te Ching".  She brings amazing insight into the foundation of health and wellbeing. And she has one of THE BEST presentations of "The Way" - The Tao Te Ching.  I was so excited to read this book. I hope you find that it resonates with you as Jessie is an incredible light for many of us who need to connect with our power and innate wisdom to heal.  You can find the book and lots of goodies on her website at www.jessiekanzer.com Get the book and when you're done write a review, as she has so much to share with the world!! More about Jessie Kanzer: Jessie was born in the Soviet Union as Asya Bronfman—a little Jewish girl living in a communal apartment with four families, one toilet, and a rickety old bathtub in the middle of the kitchen. Her grandparents had survived the Holocaust and her parents continued to struggle under anti-Semitic policies. They sought asylum in the U.S., waiting in Italy and in Austria, and finally made it to Brooklyn in 1989. As an 8-year-old refugee who only spoke Russian, Jessie (who was still “Asya” then) yearned to fit in. She changed her name and much about herself. Later though, she experienced depression, an eating disorder, and all sorts of existential problems. She pursued Hollywood fame, men, and the American Dream, but always fell short. Until she stopped. In figuring out how to better herself and her life, Jessie picked up a bucket-full of tools that she now shares with others—including the Tao Te Ching, which she's studied for years and which inspired her upcoming book. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, New York Daily News, Wall Street Journal, The Independent, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, Ravishly, and Romper. She lives with her husband and daughters in Dobbs Ferry, NY SHOWNOTES HERE --------------------------------------------------------------- Our Manifestation 4-Step Hypnosis Recordings is Still Available on Our Website for a Limited Time You can sign up here! ------------------------------------------------------------------ We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do, please SUBSCRIBE, RATE, and REVIEW So you can help us increase our reach to help more women awaken their best selves, have more energy, and live the life they dreamed of while healing and recovering from any pain and health issues! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Be on the lookout for the foundational coaching masterclasses this coming new year! Don't you feel exhausted by the end of the week or on the weekend after a week of stress, worry, conflict, or even doing things that don't light your inner fire. That's why many of us feel so tired – because we're pulled in multiple directions, giving away more of our energy to others, healing them instead of ourselves.   Anxiety can be a symptom of this energy drain. When we are worrying about a situation, another person, we are giving our energy away to that situation or person. Alison Tierney is a registered dietitian and board-certified in oncology nutrition and started her business, Wholesome LLC in 2015. After developing an oncology nutrition program at a local academic cancer center, Alison pursued Wholesome exclusively as her business and client base continued to grow and increase in demand. Her passion for nutrition and healthy lifestyle is obvious in her work, her care for her clients, and her desire to always keep learning. Although Alison is board-certified in oncology nutrition, she is multi-passionate in nutrition and her expertise goes beyond cancer and involves helping others with the management of chronic diseases such as: heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and autoimmune diseases. I love the story of today's guest.  Many of us tend to weave through different experiences in life before we find our path.  Alison is no different.  In school, she initially studied business and was a college athlete. As an athlete, she was aware that nutrition was important for fueling long practices and game days for optimal physical performance, but she wasn't thinking about nutrition in terms of disease prevention and longevity.  By the time she finished her business degree, her interests had started to change. Her husband encouraged her to switch to nutrition, but she felt like it was too late to switch. I can attest to that feeling!  But take it from both of us, it's never too late. She took one nutrition course and that was it her last year of college and realized she had found her path.  She went back to school to pursue a second bachelors' degree in dietetics.  Her interests also changed from dietetics to oncology nutrition as cancer started claiming the lives of her family members. Outside of the cancer center, she focuses on Wholesome LLC to provide individual counseling, classes and seminars to promote a wholesome diet. While Alison is an expert in using nutrition to treat chronic diseases, we went in a different direction - hormones. She was featured in Neal Barnard's book, Your Body in Balance.  Things like fertility issues, PCOS, menopause, and having your kids eat plant-based has come up in a lot of questions from my listeners and friends.  Alison has a lot of experience here too.  She was unable to get pregnant...that is, until she changed her diet to a whole-foods, plant-based diet.
