I get it, you're probably not about to get more sleep in terms of duration of sleep and as it stands, it's already a push to get the 6 or so hours that you manage to squeeze into your already overflowing schedule. It may surprise you to know that whilst there are vitamins and minerals that are key in optimising energy levels, there are several mindset shifts we can create in order to feel more energised at the click of your fingers too. In this week's episode, we are again taking the audio from a live training I recently did on all that contributes to energy. From masculine vs feminine energy, flow states, vitamins, minerals, systems and structure and everything in between, you have to know that you can in fact create the energy you want when you want it by realising that it's possible to do so. All too often we find ourselves feeling drained from long haul flights, 14 hour work days, dealing with incompetent people and not having sufficient time to fuel ourselves before the next big meeting and whilst that can all contribute to feeling low in energy, there's a tonne more that we can do to increase energy too. Cody and Thomas Nicholson Stratton are raising their son to be the seventh generation on their regenerative grass-fed beef, dairy, lamb, wool, and egg operation in northern California. Jeff Brink is perhaps the most enthusiastic teacher coach we have ever had on the podcast. From the moment we hit record, we were treated to story after story about what makes this man tick. A passionate and energetic history teacher, Brink inspires students with his boundless charisma and storytelling prowess. He created and planned his own class on Military History and uses metaphors and historical episodes to teach life lessons to his players and students. Henry Johnson, a black soldier during WW 1 who saved countess lives in a foxhole by fending off 25 Germans on his own, is one such story he shared with us. Just a few days ago, Brink made the decision to come back home and coach at his hometown school: New Middletown Springfield. Brink led Springfield to a district championship in the early 2000s before coaching at Salem and then coming to Hudson...and he dreams of making a state run to Dayton with his alma mater. If he does, it certain the bus will make a few pitstops on the way down to enlighten his players on the significance of a few Ohio historical markers. Remember back to those earlier days in your life when you would get outside and play. Actually it could be just about anything. Bursting with energy, I think back to that one time when I was playing with my brother and the neighbor kids. It was so hot outside but it didn't matter. Bikes, skateboards, basketball, hide and seek, exploring - we were just on the go. We would fly back into our homes for some water, fruit punch or juice and then back out again. ENDLESS ENERGY! Where did it come from? I can remember feeling so tired and worn out but then just powering up to keep on going again and again, day after day! I've been searching for that secret for quite sometime now and have been learning different tactics along the way. I was always thinking to myself that it absolutely had to be tied to age (80%) and mindset (10%) and environment (10%). Somewhere along the way after reading enough books, watching enough you tube videos and seeing peers and those both junior and senior in action that I realized there was a totally different breakdown. It was more like 90%-10% Mind - Everything Else. It was kinda like I had this feeling of watching my parents of grandparents kick my tail in any game for the first few years of my life, but as an adult I was seeing it again. Being stronger, faster, more agile, more limber or even better physically prepared didn't matter. It all had to do with how I thought about things. 90-10 all the way!
