Benjamin has worked with Indie heavyweights like Half Moon Run, Shura, Benjamin Francis-Leftwich, Fickle Friends, Jon Bryant and many more. In our interview we chatted about Benjamin's approach to starting a fresh production and nailing the artist's vision, his approach to social media and his recent journey converting a derelict garage, into a purpose built production and songwriting space. Arilya is the husband and wife duo of Nic and Sandi Hermann. They are a band on the rise bringing their brand of "heavy pop" to the masses. Heavy pop you ask? Think Fickle Friends meets Foo Fighters. That's the way Nic describes it and he couldn't have hit it and squarer on the head. Their latest single, "Red Flags," overflows with all sorts of pop sensibilities combined with dynamic vocals by Sandi and enough crunchy guitars to satisfy hard rock fans. Born out of adversity, "Red Flags" shows how Nic and Sandi are stronger together not just as musical partners in Arilya, but husband and wife. We also discuss the brand new video for "Red Flags" which is highly recommended viewing!"Bring Me Back To You" written and performed by Arilya℗ 2018 Arilya. On this episode of the Lesbian Supper Club, we put Natti from Fickle Friends in the hot seat to discuss her experience with success, changing her mindset, breaking out of the heterosexual blueprint and finding her true identity, which we know a lot of us can relate to. We shed some light on Freya in her younger years and spare no detail. No episode of the Lesbian Supper Club podcast would be complete without some horrific dating stories, and a bonus story from Natti herself. As always, lesbians, write in your lesbian horror stories and questions to our email hello@lesbiansupperclub.com Follow Natti on Instagram @natticatteh and make sure to hear Fickle Friends music so you can understand where our fan girling came from. In today's episode, we met up with the infectiously fun and self-proclaimed Jack of all trades, Natti from Fickle Friends. Fickle Friends continue to release banger after banger and have toured all over since forming in 2013. Fun Fact… Natti is actually the first guest that Flawes have officially collaborated with in the past (if you don't count the various Ella songs JC played on and the song we wrote with Thom). Fickle Friends did a remix of 'Here To Stay' that we released a couple of years ago! Stay tuned to hear nightmare stories on stage in Bingley, Natti's guide to securing work with Harry Styles and an array of off-topic tangents seemingly beginning with the letter C - caves, car insurance, curries, cats, and coffee. This is NATTI from FICKLE FRIENDS coming up on ‘Meet At The Hotel Bar'!

Graham Coath talks music with Eliza May After supporting big artists such as Kate Nash and Tiffany as well as performing at incredible festivals like Y Not? Festival and Hereford Indie Food Festival in 2022, Eliza May is starting 2023 off with a bang, bringing us the release of her highly anticipated EP “Candy Heart”. “Candy Heart” tells the story of a classic relationship cycle; starting off full of romance, originally tasting sugar sweet but over time, things turn sour as the relationship ends. Based on true stories from her own life, expect layers of gorgeous harmonies, sassy but classy lyrics and playful instrumentation that will have you singing and dancing all the way through. Taking inspiration from a wide range of artists including Paramore, Olivia Dean, Fickle Friends and The Wombats, this EP is full of catchy indie pop bops that perfectly encompass all the highs and lows you feel when truly falling in and out of love. A quote from Eliza: “Candy Heart is a soundtrack for the hopeless romantics, the people who are in love with love. I wrote these songs over the course of six years about the different relationships and emotions I felt during the rollercoaster process that is dating. From heartbreak to true love, I've felt it all and Candy Heart is like a series of entries from my personal diary. “ Bringing a delightfully addictive sound to the indie pop scene, Eliza May is an artist you won't want to miss out on in 2023.
This time our guest is Andy Hall Hall - a Music Producer / Songwriter / Engineer, working out of his studio in Battersea, South London. He started his career as a guitarist & vocalist in bands, but soon turned his interest to production after co-writing The Other Tribe's summer hit song 'Skirts' in 2012. He's worked with some massive artists including James Gillespie, Bastille, Griff, Kygo, & Fickle Friends. He produced the majority of James Gillespie's debut album ‘Safe', including singles ‘What You Do', and ‘Beyond Today'. To compliment episode 25 (Cameron Gower-Poole), we get the perspective of another vocal producer; Andy has recorded vocals for Kygo, Griff, and Two Another, as well as the Marshmallo ft. Bastille smash hit ‘Happier'. We talk compression, recording on tour, the 00s UK port-hardcore (read: emo) scene, and colour coding your regions. The Process of Production is presented by Lawrence Diamond and Bob Matthews. Lawrence cut his teeth playing and writing in Indie bands before finding international success and touring the world with his band CITIZENS! During that time he worked with a host of revered producers including Liam Howe, Mark Ralph and Alex Kapranos. Since the band ended in 2016 he's been using that experience to help other artists develop their careers as a writer and producer while continuing to release his own music under various different guises. Bob learned his trade as the producer and multi-instrumentalist in Electronic Pop duo Alpines, whose career spans 3 albums, releases on major and indie record labels, shows with Florence + The Machine, The xx, Emeli Sandé, and a top 20 hit 'Tidal Wave' in collaboration with Sub Focus. In recent years he has turned his focus to producing other acts and has a studio in Chiswick in West London. Join your host Greg Howard Jr as he gets to the heart of what makes a musician tick with the incredibly talented BEXX!bexx is a seriously exciting new talent in the UK pop scene. Her eclectic, euphoric alt-pop sound unabashedly draws from influences within 80's synth-pop, pop-punk, classic rock, and current artists like Rina Sawayama and Lady Gaga. Her latest single “Prettier” (out September 2) is a furious emotional gut punch, exploring self-hatred, body image, and objectification.bexx says: “I wrote Prettier from a place of deep sadness and deep anger. It is my furious rebuttal to everyone who has made me feel less than because of the way I look - and writing it was deeply cathartic. I want Prettier to be an anthem for anyone who has had enough of feeling like they don't measure up to society's narrow standard of beauty.”In a radical departure from previous releases, Prettier sees bexx explores elements of punk rock and hyperpop whilst still embracing her alt-pop sensibilites. With instrumentation that sounds just as furious as the lyrics, Prettier is inspired by classic bands like AC/DC and Motorhead as well as current heavy artists like Cassyette, Nova Twins and pop acts like Gaga and Rina Sawayama. The release is accompanied by a remix (out Sep 14) from rising hyperpop artist and producer Tobre, who brings a fresh dose of unhinged ferocity to his take on Prettier. Tobre says: “Much of my production is inspired by the abrasive and energising sounds of melodic punk rock and metal, so I wanted to play with that to take the ferocity and chaos of Prettier to another level. The remix is a blend of my usual take on hyperpop production and sound design, mixed with distorted guitars and real drum samples.”bexx will also host a launch party for Prettier at iconic London LGBTQ+ venue The Glory on September 1. This will see the premiere of the new track, plus support from exciting new queer artists. Genre-bending pop-rock artist FEAR OF MARKO and bubblegum pop atist Tobre, who has also remixed Prettier, will both perform on the night. In 2022, bexx has headlined Nottinghamshire Pride and supported the likes of Fickle Friends and Deco on tour. With support from Wonderland, Earmilk, BBC Introducing and Rolling Stone, bexx is rapidly headed towards an exciting future, and it's one you'll want to be a part of.bexx on InstagramTwitterFacebookTikTokYouTubeSUPPORT THIS SHOW

We had the pleasure of interviewing Natalie Shay over Zoom video! Natalie Shay is an indie-pop artist hailing from North London. The multi-award-winning musician has established an ever-growing presence and loyal fanbase through her explosive live performances and unforgettable anthems, recognising her as one of the UK's hottest emerging talents. Her relatable lyrics touch on love, self-discovery and the everyday experiences of a twenty-something. Combining her youthful and charismatic aura with her classical training and time spent at the prestigious BRIT School, Shay has finessed the ability to produce undeniably catchy music, whilst maintaining a musical maturity. Compared to the likes of Haim, Little Comets and Fickle Friends, the Londoner has absorbed a similar energy and dynamic within her new music, resulting in a sound which oozes with passion and allure. Her latest single “Medicine Boy” plays on the theme of comparing a dysfunctional relationship with a boy to a drug. Shay explains, “The lyrics are written so that if I told you the whole song was about an addictive relationship, it would make sense. But if I also told you the whole song was about recreational drug use, every line would still make sense.” Capturing the essence of a bittersweet relationship, Shay plays with the idea that just because a relationship isn't “good,” it doesn't necessarily mean it's totally unhealthy. She confides, “I was very stuck in my own head and emotions at the time of writing, it was an uncertain time and I'd been doing a lot of thinking and growing up.”Shimmering synths, colourful, animated melodies and Shay's powerful, crystal clear vocals deliver the perfect, feel-good summer anthem, with her instantly recognisable sound shining through in the fresh and fun production. Occasional shadows of darker moments, melancholy lyrics and multi-tonal elements represent the back and forth of fighting for something that you know is perhaps a little toxic. Entering into a new wave of her sound, Shay admits how she now has a better understanding of her own feelings and emotions, allowing listeners to closely follow her journey through her early twenties, blossoming into a more mature and reflective individual. Shay continues to pique the interest of audiences across the globe. Garnering attention from notable publications such as Billboard, Clash and The Line of Best Fit, to name a few, as well as landing Spotify's New Music Friday playlist in nine countries, Shay has collectively amassed hundreds of thousands of streams. She has also worked on EDM tracks with the likes of Grum and Kryder, racking up over 2 millions streams to date. In 2018 she was asked to be part of the jury for the UK Eurovision competition. Continuing to forge ahead, Natalie Shay is quite simply a force to be reckoned with.We want to hear from you! We've called this assembly to announce the winners of the house cup. It doesn't take much to win the house cup at Moron High. You only need a can-do attitude, love of trumpets, personal spank bank, and a snotty tissue shoved up your shorts. You can even graduate when you can't pronounce "finale", keep your balls in your gym shorts, get your guest's name correct, and have sex without a floodlight. We discuss Legacy by James Kerr, Hypersonic Missiles by Sam Fender, and You Are Someone Else by Fickle Friends.
Natti Shiner is the frontwoman of Fickle Friends - an English indie pop band from Brighton. In this episode, Natti got real with us on her adventure as the front ‘person’ of a super successful band. Natti Shiner is the principle singer, songwriter and synth player in Fickle Friends, the hardest working indie-pop band in the UK right now.Natti was born in the mountains of Switzerland, but raised in Devon and the New Forest by her bohemian Madonna and ABBA-loving mother who’d drag her to WOMAD every summer.A teenage obsession with Avril Lavigne set Natti on the path to music and she stared drumming in her first band when she was 11.She thought she’d end up becoming a doctor, but applied to drama school on a whim and that’s where she met her future bandmates.Natti’s the first guest we’ve had on Talk The Line to choose a book as her particular obsession and it’s one of the most popular non fiction books of the last decade: Yuval Harari’s Sapiens.Catch up with our earlier shows by subscribing on Apple Podcasts with this link: bestf.it/talkthelineTalk The Line is hosted by the amazing podcast people at Pippa.io who make setting up a podcast a total breeze.
