Join us for a cozy interview of mystery, psychic prediction, community, and tea. This week we're speaking to James Kerr about The Psychic Danger Society. The unique mechanics of the game give you a pool of “prediction dice” which you roll at the start of the session. The players choose which dice results to use when resolving issues in the game. Each die, when put forward, is spent and gone, leaving players with fewer to use should something go wrong. If you're caught without dice, you can't know the future, and it may mean the end… so make your predictions count! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jameskerr/the-psychic-danger-society https://www.radiojamesgames.com/ ww.igdn.com

Whether we agree on the name or not, we're one planet, one people. This is our opportunity to step up and demonstrate intelligence in unity. Today, science has bridged the gap with spirituality, and what quantum physics, quantum mechanics, and Quantum Sciences are beginning to reveal is what Vedantic philosophy has held all along: we are all energy, emanating from the same Source. We face challenges in understanding our purpose, often constrained by societal and organizational structures, whether corporate or religious. With a vision of “One World,” we can share the responsibility that brings each of us to a level of personal accountability. Rather than calling this a New Age, we might better call it the “Age of Accountability”—a time to be responsible for what we do and how we act. Welcome to "One World in a New World," where ambition meets innovation in co-creating a new normal. Here, we explore the “thoughtmosphere,” embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, and embrace harmony—with ourselves, with others, and with Mother Earth. 41-year-old James Kerr's day went from bad to worse real quick. When a deputy showed up at his house to arrest him, James first tried to run him over with his riding lawn mower.
In this episode, we kickoff a conversation about the 15 leadership lessons we can learn from the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team. These lessons come from James Kerr's book Legacy and today we'll cover lessons 1-3.

All eyes here in the United States are on the American Presidential election, but fifty countries are hosting major elections in 2024. Britain, France, Taiwan and India are among the countries that have already had theirs. Apply to become a member today at www.workersstrikeback.org/join. In the U.K. elections, we saw the Tories, the conservative party, lose humiliatingly but expectedly after 14 years in power, putting the British Labor Party at the helm of a country in crisis. The election was far less of a vote of confidence in the Labor Party and its leader, Keir Starmer than it was a vote against the Tories - a throw-the-bums-out anti-incumbency mood. In fact, this was the lowest turnout election in Britain in more than a century. We also saw a landslide election of Jeremy Corbyn as an independent Left candidate, after Starmer's wing of the Labor Party undemocratically blocked him from running as a Labor candidate. Corbyn's position against the Israeli state's genocidal war on Gaza undoubtedly played a role in his decisive win. What should workers conclude from the Tories' loss and Corbyn's victory? And what will actually be needed to build a new party, and to strengthen and connect our movements internationally? This week we're delighted to welcome Sean Fitzpatrick to the show. Sean was capped 92 times by New Zealand, 51 of those as captain. A World Cup winner and key member of one of the best rugby union teams, he is recognised as one of the greatest All Blacks of all time. Sean is more than the sum of his rugby achievements. He has been an integral part of bringing the now famous All Black culture to wider sport and business. Key ideals such as ‘sweeping the sheds' and ‘play where your feet are' have been brought to life in James Kerr's excellent book ‘Legacy'. We often look at how numbers, revenue, media engagement etc. builds value in sport. Sean explains how mentality and values are the first building blocks in creating the brand that people want to buy. This is also about rugby more broadly. Sean's perspective on the role of private equity investing in international rugby having been involved in Silver Lake's minority acquisition of the All Blacks demonstrates the value that lies within the sport. But it begs the question, why is the sport still struggling? On today's show we discuss: The All Blacks Culture What does it mean to play for one of the most iconic badges in the world of sport? The life of a rugby player before the game became professional in 1995. How the culture of the All Blacks transcends sport, and the value that can be extracted by people living a life away from the field. ‘Play where your feet are', ‘when you're at your best, change it'. What do these sayings mean and what was the role of mindset in creating one of the greatest international teams of all time? It's about the team, not the individual. However is this changing in today's game with the need for ‘celebrity' that wasn't there before? ‘I don't believe in work life balance'; you have to be 100% in'. Sean & Performance Winning the first Rugby World Cup in 1987 and the story of transitioning from domestic rugby to the international stage. The danger of complacency; how being the best can lead to a team dropping their standards. When this happened to Sean in the early 90's, how did they turn this around? The 1995 World Cup in South Africa is now an iconised occasion in sport and popular culture; what was it like to be on the other side of that famous final and Nelson's Mandela's drive to unite a country using sporting success. Being asked to return to the All Blacks fold on two different occasions having decided to move on. The Business of Rugby The increasing role of private equity in both teams and leagues across the game; why are they investing millions? What do they see as most valuable? A lack of global superstars is holding the sport back; the game needs individuals like Jonah Lomu to bring it to the front of the attention economy. Experiential is the key to driving value. Create amazing experience and capitalise on a reported 1 billion engagement with the All Blacks brand. Building a global IPL/F1 tournament series would bring the entertainment and excitement to the club level like we haven't seen, but are the barriers to doing this insurmountable? We are delighted to partner with Tyndall Investment Management for this show. In this episode our host, Lieutenant Colonel Dean Canham OBE, speaks to bestselling author, speaker and leadership and high-performance consultant, James Kerr. James has worked with elite teams around the world, across numerous sports, businesses and military units, developing their cultures and leadership in the pursuit of success at the very highest level. He is the author of the renowned global bestseller ‘Legacy', which delivers a unique insight into the culture that drives the worlds most successful sporting team - The New Zealand All Blacks. His forthcoming book ‘Ethos: The Legacy Playbook' is a practical guide for putting vision into action, and purpose into practice. James is emphatic in his belief that servant, or coaching, leadership must be the norm for successful leaders, and that leaders should consider themselves a resource for the teams that they have the privilege of leading. He emphasises the significance of adaptability in leadership, that it is imperative that leaders have the ability to change depending on the context of a situation, and though leadership provides complexities, self-awareness - or ‘leading from within' - must be the start point of any leader's journey. He comments on the people-centric nature of leadership, recognising that the ‘soft skills' can actually prove to be some of the hardest to put into practice, but the rewards for doing so, are great. James suggests that leaders ‘make the weather' in a team, and where climates add up to cultures, great cultures are founded in respect, humility, accountability, and psychological safety. Like us, James believes that the development of leadership should be a continual, through-life journey, where the character of a leader is ‘mission critical'.

We often think about overcoming a fear of failure, but have you ever thought about whether you have a fear of success? Many of the people I work with in coaching struggle the first time they feel exposed as a leader, the first time they feel people's expectations of them, the first time they feel that the consequences of their actions impact much more than just themselves. And overcoming a fear of success is what world-leading coach James Kerr described as his Unlock Moment when he recorded for the podcast. With over 300 articles, 70 media interviews and 6 business books, Jim Kerr is one of the most prolific authors of thought leadership in the business and is top 10 ranked by Thinkers 360 in coaching, leadership, culture, strategy, change management and the future of work. He is the #1 ranked global thought leader in coaching. He has also been featured in Fast Company, BusinessWeek, Psychology Today and Bloomberg and he's the author of “Indispensable, Build and Lead a Company Customers Can't Live Without”. He's also the host of The Indispensable Conversation podcast, where I was delighted to be featured a few weeks ago.A guest with a lifetime of experience in leadership and coaching, his is such a wise voice and I know you'll get a huge amount from this episode. Full Show Notes & Video HERE James Kerr specializes in leadership and high performance. He is the author of ‘Legacy', the international bestseller, which analyses the unique culture of the world's most successful sporting team, the All Blacks rugby team. The Daily Telegraph called it the ‘modern version of Vince Lombardi's guides to coaching'. In his work, Kerr addresses the transferable principles that drive exceptional outperformance. Using examples from his work with sports, the military and business, he argues that winning teams employ the same basic ideas; a relentless focus on excellence, a commitment to a collective cause, individual autonomy, trust initiative; accountability, and candid communication, underpinned by a culture in which ‘leaders create leaders'. Today's episode is focuses on the topic of Legacy. We are joined for the conversation by James Kerr the author of the book, Legacy: What the All Blacks Can Teach Us About the Business of Life James' book is one of the most referenced by our interview guests, it has over 4000 5 star review on Amazon UK alone. He is a consultant to some of the world's top sporting and business organisations. And in this interview, he takes us inside his work with these groups and how they go about unlocking high performance. Some of his ideas that resonated deeply with us were: His belief that people will rise to a challenge if it's their challenge, and the quite amazing story he shares to illustrate this about Leicester winning the FA cup in England. His view that the story you tell yourself becomes the story that others end up telling about you. And how you can use to set up a team culture. And How the culture at the All Blacks New Zealand Rugby team is about stabbing people in the belly not the back. This is the type of fireside chat that stays with you for a long, long time afterwards. Following the Civil War, General Carleton (photo at right) requested that a new fort be established in what is now southwestern New Mexico which was in the heart of the Apache homeland. Its mission would be to protect the miners, ranchers, and emigrant and business trails. The new fort was to be named Fort Bayard in honor of General George D. Bayard. General Bayard was born in Seneca Falls, NY in 1835. His pioneering family moved to the Iowa Territory. Following graduation from West Point in 1856 as 2nd Lt of Cavalry, he returned to the west and fought against the Native Americans in Colorado and Kansas. With the onset of the Civil War, he returned east and was commissioned Colonel of the 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry and assigned to defend Washington. He served in many positions and because of his leadership skills was commissioned chief of the cavalry of the III Corps and became a Brigadier General in April of 1862. After the restructuring of the Army of the Potomac, he was promoted to cavalry commander. He was mortally wounded during the Battle of Fredericksburg two weeks before his birthday and wedding. On August 21, 1866, Fort Bayard Military Post was established by the 125th U.S Colored Troops Company F, under Lt .James Kerr. Other companies of the U.S. Colored Troops from Louisville, Kentucky continued to arrive. Company M of the 3rd Cavalry and Companies B & E of the 5th Infantry completed the first assignments. With the 3rd Cavalry, Josephine Clifford, the wife of 2nd Lt. James Clifford, arrived. She was called "the mother of Fort Bayard” by the troops. Construction commenced. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/loren-alberts/message

Caterina Palmiotto: Address conflicts in your Agile Team, or else… Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. In this segment, Caterina Palmiotto discusses the story of a software development team that was self-destructing due to conflicts and a blame culture. When Caterina joined the team, she heard blame, resentment, and conflicts among the developers. The team struggled to resolve bugs, and one developer was causing the majority of the conflicts. Caterina tried to address the conflicts and had some success, but it took a difficult decision to remove the person causing the conflicts for the team to work better. Caterina emphasizes the importance of addressing conflicts and the impact of culture on the success of a team. Featured Book of the Week: Legacy, by James Kerr In this segment, Caterina Palmiotto discusses the book Legacy by James Kerr, which is a collection of leadership stories about the All Blacks rugby team from New Zealand. As a scrum master, Caterina noticed similarities in leadership between sports and software development. "With discipline, people don't need rules"One of the best books I have read during the four years I have been recording this podcast is Legacy by James Kerr: about the strategies, attitudes and lessons that have enabled the New Zealand All Blacks to the most successful team in sporting history. In this episode James is talking about the power of giving people responsibility, and the example he starts off with is about a community in London ravaged by gang crime that managed to create a sense of purpose, belonging, teamwork and personal responsibility. He goes on to explain how taking personal responsibility in our own life - by doing the right thing on a difficult day and acknowledging that the habits we have is the life we live - can have a profound effect in all areas of life.**Follow/message me:Instagram https://www.instagram.com/simonmundie/Twitter https://twitter.com/simonmundieAnd for the 'Mundie on Monday' newsletter - featuring three of the best Life Lessons from three years and 200 of these conversations - head to simonmundie.com (where you can also drop me an email)Please do share this episode with anyone who may benefit, and rate and review wherever you get your podcasts. How many new skills did you learn during the pandemic? The lack of face-to-face meetings required everyone to adapt, and for many, that included the ability to build connections and community online. To discuss the skills and adaptations we all needed to update our lives to fit the new modality, I've invited two good friends to join me in a chat. Nadia Bilchik is the President of Greater Impact Communications. She's a speaker, trainer, and author of Own Your Network: Expert Networking In Person & Online. James Kerr is the founder of Indispensable Consulting. He's also a speaker, as well as a leadership coach and the author of Indispensable: Build and Lead A Company Customers Can't Live Without. First, we look at the way presentations and communication skills training have changed in the wake of the first Covid outbreak. Nadia explains ways that our language has become more intentional due to the lack of ability to read body language in the virtual world. She gives advice on connecting with your audience on camera, and describes changes that will make you stand out and make your message clear. James discusses time constraints, and how we (and our audience) have begun to think about and value time differently. We no longer spend days traveling in order to accomplish a two-hour task. The ability to give a presentation in various time zones within a single day is a dramatic shift in itself, but it has also changed our understanding of real human interaction. We examine how to use online chit-chat and build toward deep "getting to know you moments" that build strong and memorable relationships. We wrap up our conversation by looking at the concept of "Zoom Fatigue." Nadia shares tips for placement of your camera, while James discusses how to interact with clients who prefer to leave their cameras off. The world has changed irrevocably, and the best thought leaders know how to keep up, adapt, and even excel in our new, digital-focused age. Three Key Takeaways: * When delivering thought leadership online ensure your camera is parallel to your eyes and you look directly into it while speaking. This gives the same effect as looking into someone's eyes while speaking in person. * While we have had to reengineer the way we do things - the what is still the same. * It is important to get to know your clients on a deep personal level when you are only able to connect with them online. Ask personal questions about family and hobbies to help develop that relationship.
What determines if you are going to live your life as a winner or as a loser? Who is going to decide if you are a victim of your circumstances? The answer is YOU. It's always up to you. Why? Because you hold the most powerful power, which is your mindset. A motivational speaker and an author, Terry Tucker, has gone through many heath challenges most people would label as tragic. Does he though? No. Instead, he chooses to use his pain and discomfort to make himself a better and stronger version of himself, by shifting his mindset.
