On Monday's Mark Levin Show, President Trump rightly criticized Sen Tim Kaine for saying that our rights come from government, not God. The book "Ameritopia" explained that John Locke had profound influence on America's founders during the Revolutionary period. Locke's philosophy was, natural law, derived from God's will, governs all, including governments; no authority can violate inalienable rights; and governments exist by consent to preserve these rights, not create them. This connects to the Declaration of Independence's principles. Kaine's view is stunning and representative of the Democrat position. Also, the Democrat Party has radicalized far beyond its base, leaving behind traditional Democrats like veterans, police, firefighters, and generational members who now form a minority. A recent Gallup poll, show that only 42% of Democrats view capitalism positively, while 66% favor socialism. This reflects the entire party, not just the base, as evidenced by elections of socialists in cities like New York and support for figures like AOC and Bernie Sanders. This Democratic radicalization is partly due to new immigrants from anti-capitalist societies. Later, Dr Zuhdi Jasser calls in to discuss his run for Arizona's 4th Congressional district. Jasser emphasized his commitment to service, love for America, and fighting against radical Islam, and far-left policies exploiting freedoms. Jasser would be a counter to progressive kooks like Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar. Afterward, sanctuary states and cities are unconstitutional. America fought a civil war making that clear. States and cities cannot defy federal constitutional authority that is clearly granted to the national government -- the enforcement of federal immigration law. They cannot nullify federal law. As an anthropologist, Victor Buchli has one foot in the Neolithic past and another in the space-faring future. A professor of material culture at University College London, his research has taken him from excavations of the New Stone Age site at Çatalhöyük, Turkey to studies of the modern suburbs of London to examinations of life on -- and in service to -- the International Space Station. It is in that later role, as principal investigator for a European Research Council-funded research project on the "Ethnography of an Extraterrestrial Society," that he visits the Social Science Bites podcast. He details for interviewer David Edmonds some of the things his team has learned from studying the teams -- both in space but more so those on Earth -- supporting the International Space Station. Buchli describes, for example, the "overview effect." The occurs when which people seeing the Earth without the dotted lines and map coordinates that usually color their perceptions. "When you look down," he explains, "you don't see borders, you just see the earth in its totality, in a sense that produces a new kind of universalism." He also reviews his own work on material culture, specifically examining how microgravity affects the creation of things. "It is the case within the social sciences, and particularly within anthropology, that gravity is just assumed. And so here we have an environment where suddenly this one single factor that controls absolutely everything that we do as humans on Earth is basically factored out. So how does that change our understanding of these human activities, these sorts of human institutions?" Buchli has written extensively on material culture, serving as managing editor of the Journal of Material Culture, founding and managing editor of Home Cultures, and editor of 2002's The Material Culture Reader and the five-volume Material Culture: Critical Concepts in the Social Sciences. Other books he's written include 1995's Interpreting Archaeology, 1999's An Archaeology of Socialism, and 2001's Archaeologies of the Contemporary Past.

William J. Federer is a nationally known speaker, historian, author, and president of Amerisearch, Inc. He is the speaker on "The American Minute" daily broadcast. Polls seem to show that Gen "Z" voters (age 18-29) are drawn to socialism and therefore it's this demographic that appears to be the source for the current popularity of candidates like Zohran Mamdani who is a New York State Assembly member running for mayor of New York. What's behind this appeal for socialism? William explained that there's two ways for people to give up their freedom: fear and free stuff. After WWII and the cold war, the communists couldn't defeat America from the outside so they tried doing it from the inside. It's the idea of making everyone dependent. He used the example of wild pigs. You put a post in the ground and throw some corn down. The pigs come and eat the corn and ignore the post. You keep adding posts and throwing down more and more corn. Eventually all you'll have left is a small opening for the pigs to enter the circle. The pigs will still squeeze their way in. Eventually, you shut the gate behind them and you've caught yourself some wild pigs. In other words, you've trapped them by dependency. Drug dealers use a similar approach in order to take over a neighborhood. They can cause fear by use of guns or they can be so nice that for a time they give away free drugs. They may do this until you are hooked at which point you are dependent upon the dealer as the source to supply your addiction. These examples are known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy, named after Richard Cloward and Frances Piven who were professors at Columbia University.
