Taylor Swift has been named as part of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, entering in her first year of eligibility! The Taylor Seminars wanted to congratulate her by going through the list of five songs she submitted for consideration:"All Too Well (10 Minute Version")"Love Story""Blank Space""Anti-Hero""The Last Great American Dynasty"Our hosts Exquisite & Hannah go through each song in chronological order, discussing why each song deserved its place on the list and why we think it was chosen. We loved the episode as we got to celebrate Taylor's depth and breath in songwriting & success. **Quick note: Hannah said Taylor is the youngest person to be inducted into the Songwriters HOF, but she's actually the youngest female person to be inducted. Last time on "How We Heard It," your hosts looked at the top-selling music artists from the 1960s to the 2020s and ranked them, decade by decade. They debated, argued and came to some consensus as they considered all of music's biggest acts from the Beatles to Taylor Swift.   This time around, they decided to rank the best and worst movies that were tops at the box office from the 1960s to the 2020s, and let's just say they were taken by surprise at just how much the film industry has changed over the years.   The box office take in the 1960s and 1970s was topped by such varied and ambitious films as "The Sound of Music," "The Graduate," "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Star Wars," "Jaws" and "The Godfather." Meanwhile, four of the top 10 films from the 2010s were all from the "Avengers" franchise, and the top six movies so far in the 2020s have all been sequels.   Has Hollywood become too dependent on redundancy, or do film audiences simply prefer sequels to brand-new stories? Are superhero movies and action films succeeding at the expense of other genres like comedies, dramas and romance? What new movies have been bucking modern trends? And were the old movies really so great in the first place?   "How We Heard It" weighs in on these and other questions as your hosts relive some of their favorite times at the movies ... as well as some of the most numbing ones.

Welcome to this week's episode of When Words Fail, Music Speaks—the podcast that explores how melody and lyric become a lifeline in the toughest moments.I'm your host, James Cox, and today I'm sitting down with folklaur—the soulful indie‑folk artist behind the hauntingly intimate album Leaves & Letters. Hailing from Philadelphia, Laura (who cleverly turned her English‑major love of stories into the moniker “folklaur”) invites us into the quiet spaces where her music lives—those still‑water moments that linger long after the final note fades. In our conversation we wander through Philly's vibrant but underrated live‑music scene, swap stories about cheesesteaks and creative compromises, and dig deep into the paradox of being alone to connect with a community. Folklaur shares how she balances raw emotion with lyrical storytelling, wrestles with perfectionism in the studio, and discovers that the most powerful songs are often the ones that feel imperfect. We also get a rapid‑fire “lightning round” that reveals her late‑night writing ritual, her love for silence before a track, the word she over‑uses (community), and the artists who shape her—Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, Noah Kahn, and Greasy Abrams. If you've ever felt unheard, wrestled with anxiety, or simply crave music that feels like a gentle, honest conversation, stay tuned. By the end of this episode you'll understand why Folklore believes that “music heals because it's real,” and you'll leave with a renewed sense that you matter—just as her songs intend.Press play, settle in, and let the healing power of Folklore's music speak.

Host: Cindy Allen Show: Simply Trade – Cindy's Version Published: January 30, 2026 Length: ~13 minutes Presented by: Global Training Center Exile: Is the U.S. Being Traded Around? In this week's Cindy's Version, Cindy Allen, CEO of TradeForce Multiplier, unpacks one of the busiest weeks we've seen in international trade—and frames it all through the lens of Taylor Swift's song “Exile.” From fresh tariff threats to shifting alliances and possible government shutdowns, Cindy explains why it's starting to feel like the United States is watching global trade move on without us. What You'll Learn in This Episode: New U.S. tariff threats tied to Cuban oil Announcement of tariffs on countries that sell or buy oil from Cuba and why this may largely hit usual suspects like Venezuela and Russia. Trade partners going “around” the U.S. How the UK's outreach to China and Canada's new deal with China signal a trend of countries pursuing their own economic interests directly with Beijing. Canada under pressure—again Trump's 100% tariff threat on Canadian goods over the China deal and the newer threat to decertify Canadian-made jets until Gulfstream aircraft are certified in Canada—and why both moves raise legal and practical questions. Shifting tariff landscapes Guatemala and El Salvador trade deals and expected rate ranges. Possible hike back to 25% on South Korean goods if their trade deal isn't approved. Potential rollback of the 25% tariff on India tied to Russian oil purchases. 232 duties and a big valuation court fight Why CBP centers are informally pushing an “all-in” cost model (materials, labor, manufacturing) for steel, aluminum, and now copper derivatives—and how that conflicts with the 232 declaration language. The new Court of International Trade case challenging that interpretation and what it could mean for importers paying 232 on components. Why many companies are considering filing protests now to preserve their rights pending the outcome—and why you need to talk to your own counsel. ACE refunds are coming—ready or not Electronic refunds are set to go live February 6. What importers need to do with their brokers and 4811 setup, and why brokers must confirm their own information is on file in ACE. The big question: what happens to refunds if the setup is incomplete? EU deal on pause Why the EU is putting its U.S. deal “on hold” and how that could trigger a return to higher tariffs if the U.S. responds like it has with South Korea. Hill updates: express couriers and DHS funding A new bill proposal for simplified declarations on express shipments under 600 dollars, and what it could mean if you use or compete with express couriers. The looming DHS/CBP funding issue, the likelihood of a shutdown, and what a shutdown typically means for cargo processing versus outreach and meetings. Why “Exile”? Cindy connects the week's news to “Exile,” focusing on the line, “You were my town, now I'm in exile seeing you out.” She explores how U.S. policy is driven by a belief that the country has been taken advantage of and needs to re-shore manufacturing and secure critical sectors, while much of the world sees it as a pullback from free trade and trade facilitation that once underpinned global stability. By contrasting these two perspectives—like the two voices in the song—Cindy argues the U.S. risks finding itself “in exile” as trade partners build new frameworks around us, and warns that we've “seen this film before” in history with outcomes that weren't ideal. Key Takeaways: Expect more volatility in tariffs and trade relationships as the U.S. pushes assertive trade tools and partners seek alternative paths. Importers dealing with 232 duties on steel, aluminum, and copper inputs should closely watch the new court case and coordinate with counsel on protest strategy. ACE electronic refunds are an opportunity and a risk—data and 4811 setups must be right to avoid missing money you're owed. Even in a shutdown, cargo should keep moving, but engagement with CBP and DHS will be limited. Strategically, the U.S. may be drifting into a kind of trade “exile”—and it's critical for companies to understand both the domestic narrative and how the rest of the world is reacting. --------  Presented by: Global Training Center Listen & Subscribe Simply Trade main page: https://simplytrade.podbean.com Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/simply-trade/id1640329690 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/09m199JO6fuNumbcrHTkGq Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8de7d7fa-38e0-41b2-bad3-b8a3c5dc4cda/simply-trade Connect with Simply Trade Podcast page: https://www.globaltrainingcenter.com/simply-trade-podcast LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/simply-trade-podcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@SimplyTradePod Join the Trade Geeks Community Trade Geeks (by Global Training Center): https://globaltrainingcenter.com/trade-geeks/

Outlouders, have a little listen to today's subscriber episode. Listen to the full episode of Celebrities Look Emaciated And I Don’t Know What To Say at 5pm today. Not a subscriber? Get on it. Mia’s back in charge of today’s subscriber episode - and she’s brought Amelia Lester into the studio to talk about something we’re technically not supposed to notice. We’re currently living through the ‘weight loss injections and plastic surgery’ era and frankly, things are getting complicated. In this candid, subscriber-only episode, Mia and Amelia deep dive into why so many people in Hollywood - and even some of our friend groups - are suddenly looking unrecognisable and just a little bit AI. In this episode, they unpack the alarming “thinspo” trend and also ask the question no one wants to answer: when did looking like a real human being become a radical act? It’s the conversation Mia’s been wanting to have for a long time, but one that feels increasingly like it’s off limits. It’s raw, slightly uncomfortable and exactly why you’re here. Remember, this is just a little sneak peak. The full debrief drops for subscribers at 5pm. We’re giving away a Your Reformer Pilates bed (worth $3,400). And the good news is — as a subscriber, you're already in the running to win.

You probably should be burping your house: every morning, every evening and whenever you get the urge throughout the day, tbh. Jessie Stephens explains to Emily Vernem and Holly Wainwright why not doing that is… a lil bit gross. And while we’re hygiene-sharing, Em has a question for the group: How many pairs of underwear do you take if you are going away for a weekend? Holly thought she knew the answer to this question, but she’s definitely wrong. Also, how many risks are parents allowed to take? We’re talking about Alex Honnold and Sanni McCandles - the man who just climbed a skyscraper with no ropes, net or parachute, and the mother of his little kids who watched him do it. Is it okay to just… carry on regardless with your passions, however isolating or deadly they are, once you have kids? Plus: Be more “vegan + bacon”. Why that’s not an oxymoron, but a philosophy to live by in 2026. Oh, and recommendations. Which this week include:Emily’s underwear edit - including Nala (the sexiest Aussie pants) and many more. Holly’s enthusiasm for Oscar-nommed Marty Supreme, in cinemas now, and a high-brow discussion about Timothée's bottom. And Jessie is watching The Pitt, Season Two, on HBO Max. Urgent addition! Julia and Eliza team up for another bad book club episode in which they review Colleen Hoover's newest work of experimental autofiction: Woman Down. In a suspenseful story that is definitely not based on CoHo's life at all, an author who has been brutally and unfairly CANCELED goes to crazy lengths to break her writer's block, even taking it to a place of copaganda. Digressions include Taylor Swift's subpoenaed text messages, Eliza recapping her personal Rabiesgate, and apt comparisons to Hunter S Thompson. This is a teaser for a Patreon-exclusive episode. The NFL is nearly synonymous with America today. Practically nothing is more quintessentially and universally American than tuning in every Sunday (and Monday, and Thursday… and sometimes Saturdays and holidays too) to watch the world's most beautiful ballet of violence. It generates the most revenue of any sports league globally and sets new records for team valuations each year. But it wasn't always this way.The history of the NFL mirrors America's own development: scrappy small-town teams rode the successive growth waves of the automobile, TV, the Internet and social media to grow larger than the even the founders' wildest dreams. Whether you watch football or not, the NFL is one incredible business story, and one that we've taken more lessons from over the years for Acquired itself than perhaps any other episode we've made.Note: This is a remastered release of our original January 2023 episode, updated to today's Acquired production standards. It also features a full hour+ followup section at the end covering the seismic shifts in the NFL's business since the original episode's release. Much has happened in those three years: Taylor Swift entered the league (via merger

Hand crafted, by the founders of Taylor Guitars. When she brought it back on stage during her Eras tour, the fans went wild.In this episode, Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug tell the unlikely story behind one of the world's most respected acoustic guitar brands—how it grew from a tiny San Diego repair shop doing $30,000/year into a global business with nine-figure revenue. And how it survived every challenge that should've ended it: a distributor deal that didn't add up, a brutal market crash in the disco era, and such slow growth that—five years into the business—the founders could barely pay themselves a salary ($15/week).It's a story about serendipity, obsession, and the quiet power of a partnership where each person knows their lane—Bob with relentless craftsmanship, Kurt with the discipline to turn it into a massive business.Plus: the purple 12-string featured in Prince's “Raspberry Beret” … the MTV Unplugged boom that boosted the business … and why the founders eventually chose to convert the business to 100% employee ownership. What you'll learn:The operating principle that changed Taylor's production: one finished guitar beats 10 half-finished onesHow to make a slow-growth business survivable (and why Bob saw it as “education”)How to recognize a bad distribution dealThe design innovations that drew musicians to Taylor guitarsWhy Bob got a call from Taylor Swift's dad when she was 14—and the iconic guitar her fans grew to loveHow the business managed demand shocks during COVIDWhy an ESOP can be a founder's best “succession plan” decisionWhat a great partnership looks like in practiceTimestamps:(Timecodes are approximate and may shift depending on platform.)00:06:39 – The high school moment: “I didn't have $175 … so I thought, I'll just make a guitar.”00:07:14 – The American Dream shop: the hippie setup that became a launchpad00:10:20 – The “baseball bat neck” problem with guitars—and Bob's happy-accident innovation00:11:59 – Buying the shop for $3,700 … then realizing it didn't include the name (or phone number)00:22:31 – The sentence that changed everything: “Would you rather have 10 half-done guitars or one done guitar?”00:26:28 – The distributor deal that ended in layoffs: good sell job, bad math, and what they learned00:38:30 – Buying out the third partner: why the business doubled when “the brakes were off”00:59:52 – Before Taylor Swift was Taylor Swift: a phone call from a proud dad, and a promotional concert that almost went unheard01:09:36 – The inflation economics of guitar building***Hey—want to be a guest on HIBT?If you're building a business, why not get advice from some of the greatest entrepreneurs on Earth?Every Thursday on the HIBT Advice Line, a previous HIBT guest helps new entrepreneurs work through the challenges they're facing right now.
