At this point, watching the Chicago Fire feels like some sort of punishment. After being obliterated by Messi-less Miami in front of 55,000 spectators and Jason Derulo, a change of venue didn't help as they lost to DC United in Bridgeview. Alex Campbell and Joe Chatz of OnTap Sports want to talk about those games as little as possible, so they take listener questions! Is there any hope for this team? Who deserves to be kept around? How long would a proper rebuild take? We try to provide some answers and optimism on the CHGO Fire Podcast.
Alan is joined by DJ and Tim to review a Toluca League's Cup matchup that was marred by monsoon rain and Toluca goals. Xherdan Shaqiri is training with the club while agents look for a move. Later, the guys recap a Mansueto's worst season as owner as results on the field regress. The Bonfire returns August 20th. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mir97/support

Later, the guys break down a disappointing start to the League's Cup that saw the Fire fall to Sporting Kansas City. Joe Mansueto mentions that the Fire want to play on grass if Bears move to turf. Ouça a conversa completa!
Qual seria a consequência disso? We're thrilled to share our conversation with 2022 Matrix winner Stephanie Mehta! Stephanie spoke about the advice she received that lit a fire under her - "be better than the 10%" - that was the encouragement she needed to distinguish herself professionally. Listen to this episode to hear about her former roles in business journalism (including The Wall Street Journal, Fortune and Fast Company) and what it's like being a CEO. Plus, she shares her perspective on what the "next normal" mindset should be in future workplace culture.
After another dismal 3-2 defeat, the Chicago Fire are officially eliminated from the playoffs for the fifth straight year. Georg Heitz and Co. have failed to demonstrate even the slightest progress during their three years in charge. Will Joe Mansueto make the call to fire him? And, if so, who's next? This panel will get real about responsible media and our culture, breaking down the shifting responsibilities of consumers, brands and media. We will discuss: Is it now up to you as a media consumer to determine what's true and what isn't? Everyone says they want just the facts from news media. What does that mean? What is the responsibility of brands to align themselves with truthful content, We will introduce Barometer and we will discuss why, apart from what Barometer is doing in podcasts) why is it so hard to do that?
This week we hear from Stephanie Mehta, CEO & Chief Content Officer of Manseuto Ventures, parent of Inc. and Fast Company. She talked about going from an editorial career to the CEO role, the changes in leadership attitudes to publishing over the last decade, and what the revenue models for Inc. and Fast Company look like post-pandemic. She also explains why print is still important in bringing prestige to the titles. In the news roundup the team discuss Reach Plc's latest results and ask why, since it delivered solid profits, did its share price fall by 25%? In the NIBs we ask whether Twitter's community-focused moderation rollout will be successful, note the hypocrisy of the British government lauding a service it is undercutting at every turn, and ask why we weren't that impressed with The Financial Times' 1m paying subscribers. Please do get in touch if you can solve the Reach question!

Carmen DeFalco sits down with Joe Mansueto, Chicago Fire Owner and Chairman, to discuss acquiring the team, and his vision for the Fire moving forward.
Working on a project like the AP Collection has allowed me to chat with people that I never would have met otherwise and learn about things happening in Western Pennsylvania that I never really thought possible. Dave Mansueto is the perfect example of such a person taking on "impossible" things. Dave is a fount of knowledge and gives off an energy that is addictive—getting everyone around him excited about the interesting ideas he is able to connect effortlessly. All of us in the AP Collection studio sat with rapt attention as Dave and I discussed his history as one of the four founders of Libsyn, his interest in transportation and bringing water taxis to Pittsburgh, and his latest venture—Boss Jock. The app allows anyone with an iPhone to create their own podcast and send it out into the Internet! After concluding this interview, we parted ways and my partner David and I went down to Hambones on Butler Street to meet with a musician about a show. While walking to the restaurant, I unexpectedly saw Dave Mansueto across the street striding towards Arsenal Lanes and chatting pleasantly with a young woman at his side. I thought how small of a town Pittsburgh can be and yet most of us tend to keep to our own smaller crowds. I'm glad that this project has pushed me out of my little universe and introduced me to folks like Dave. A few weeks later, at a meet-up group I met the woman behind IHeartPgh. She said that Dave was the one who encouraged her to start blogging. This fun fact came as no surprise to me. Dave on the Internet Want to make your own podcast on the go?
