Episode 793 is stacked. Webby, Darren and Nick didn't head to Cologne — instead we grabbed snacks, fired up the stream, and watched Gamescom 2026 unfold live from home. And honestly… it was absolute chaos in the best way. Plus, Rockstar finally dropped the GTA 6 gameplay reveal, so you know we had thoughts.
It's finally time! Rockstar has revealed an in-depth look at Grand Theft Auto VI for the first time, with tons of gameplay, details, and more that so many tens of millions of fans have been hungry for. We discuss all we saw and what we loved and didn't, along with in-depth coverage of the hullabaloo surrounding the game's preview cycle and price. Colin even takes some time to educate the masses that GTAVI at $80 is nearly twice as affordable as GTA1 was at $50, based simply on average incomes and not at all adjusting for dreaded inflation (so next time someone tells you pay hasn't kept up with the increase in game pricing, now you know they're unapologetically lying). Other news this week includes fresh rumors of electronics tariffs in America, booming Helldivers 2 sales, a ton of Gamescom ONL fodder (including Witcher 3 Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Stage Tour, Exodus, Mega Man: Dual Overdrive, and more). Then: Listener inquiries! Is game development in danger of so-called "mode collapse"? How has MiHoYo managed to find so much success across so many high-caliber games? Would Sony ever explore re-releasing old PlayStation hardware? Will Chris and Dustin join Colin in the Fart Corner? This week: the agony of saying "alright mate?" to a semi-stranger mid-walk, then straight into Star Citizen's endless funding vs. its glitchy, still-unfinished reality (courtesy of a stream that fell apart on air). Gamescom brings news of a Witcher 3 remaster, a new Worms game, and - bizarrely - a Thomas & Friends title. Then we get into it: Meta's smart glasses hackable recording indicator, the privacy line between being knowingly filmed and secretly filmed, and why they're basically a "dashcam for humans." That leads into America's Flock camera network and its far more invasive surveillance reach. We close on GTA 6's new teaser and the leaker behind the viral clips, who might be gearing up to drop the PC build! Hey, everybody! Sid and O'Dell are back this week to discuss some of the biggest announcements from Gamescom, the upcoming full release of Path of Exile 2, and our latest gaming obsessions.
Episode #617: This week, we react to the extended Grand Theft Auto VI reveal and break down why it has us more excited than ever. From the scale of Vice City to the lighting, driving, gunplay, character switching, and all the tiny Rockstar details, this was the kind of gameplay look that makes you stop and realize just how big this game could be.We talk through the Netflix first reveal, whether that rollout helped or hurt the moment, and how the trailer landed after we finally got to watch it. The crew gets into Jason and Lucia, the car chase sequence, the improved combat, the world detail, the possible mini games, the social media systems, and why GTA 6 already looks like a game people could get lost in for years.Gamescom also gave us plenty to dig into. The Blood of Dawnwalker has our attention with its vampire Witcher energy, 30 day story structure, day and night systems, and choice driven world. Then Gears of War: E-Day brought the Xbox energy back with Marcus, Dom, brotherhood, brutal Locust, and a trailer that felt exactly like what Gears should be.Who are the XoneBros? We are your exclusive Xbox Series X & Game Pass weekly podcast. We got a special treat this week as our Aussie columnist and player housing enthusiast Sara Hanson joined the podcast. She walked us through a lot of the very recent changes to how certain player housing features work, and discusses some of the things the housing community is trying to uncover, like which pets do what when they're hanging out, now that we can add them. She also has strong opinions on transmog, much like the rest of our hosts, so they had to discuss both the new cash shop offerings and this month's Trading Post, which we got an advance preview of. And not only an advance preview, but this one will bring back a bunch of older offerings as well, for a Trading Post megamix. Also something something Mythic Raiding race, or whatever. You know we're focused on the real end game, here.We also waded through some Gamescom news, which included CD Projekt Red teaming up with Blizzard, bringing The Witcher to the Battle.net launcher — and teasing some future announcements for BlizzCon. Of course, Matt thinks this means Cyberpunk on the Battle.net launcher, but Cory isn't the only one who can huff hopium around here. But Gamescom isn't all sunshine — several projects showcased are apparently using AI heavily in their development process. If I were a sim, I would have two red minus signs above my head in Crazy Taxi's general direction right now.If you have a few minutes, please fill out our survey to tell us what you think about the podcast. We are rolling toward the holiday shopping season and that means Gamescom is here with one last pop of surprises (hopefully). Every year, Gamescom takes me by surprise. I have no idea why, but for some reason the end of summer sneaks up on me and the show catches me off guard. This year is no different. We had updates on exciting games I had forgotten about, and surprises for a beloved game of the past. In this episode we talk about our personal highlights, confusions and disappointments. Also, I learn maybe the most shocking, downright disgusting, out right insane detail about Matt. He pronounces a legendary French actor's name in such a way that I almost had to disown him. Then... To make it worse... It turns out that's how most people in the US pronounce the name. Also, there's plenty of tangents in this one. I left them in, but if you'd like me to cut more out - let me know.
After taking a quick summer break, we're back to chat about Ryan's Xbox Game Pass Month with Halo Campaign Evolved and The Outer Worlds 2, while Jocelyn has finished up her time with The Incident at Galley House. Over in the news, Dave Bautista is confirmed to be Kratos in the Amazon Prime TV Show, Horizon 3 is still far away and Joce is NOT HAVING IT, and Gamescom kicks off with Opening Night Live.Discussion00:00:00 - Intro00:06:50 - Halo Campaign Evolved00:13:17 - The Outer Worlds 200:32:32 - The Incident at Galley House00:46:19 - NewsImportant StuffSupport us on PatreonDiscord ChannelEmail the show Hosted on Acast.
