We hit the sweet spot between the end of the regular season and the kick off of the postseason. Corbin makes history, Adley sells some jerseys, Miggy Ro buys the kids Jordans, Myles steals all the bases, and Pottymouth considers extending Juan. Jazz, Josh, and Kim take the Marlins back to the postseason and Cal has things to say about why the Mariners are not there. We say heartfelt goodbyes to Tim Wakefield, and Mr. Oriole, Brooks Robinson. Farewells to Tito, near and dear to both of us, and to Miggy who has a great future ahead working with young players in the Tiger organization. The Giants call it done with Gabe, but we have no doubt he'll get picked up quickly. Angel again demonstrates why the league needs better standards, or really any standards for umpire performance, but a kid gets a helmet. Turns out emotional support alligators are a real thing, but they still are not covered by ballpark policy in Philadelphia. It's not too soon to prepare for Winter Ball, or to try to sell peanuts to Japanese ballparks. Congrats to the Orioles, cementing their OPACY home for another 30 years. We say, “between the Queen of England and Ozzy Ozbourne,” “the preponderance of Rutschmans,' and “weird animals you could hold.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Twitter @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. The biggest divorce in rock history plays out in front of our naked steaming eyes as VAN HAGAR AND DAVID LEE ROTH release post breakup debut albums. The Hair Nation scene is at the top of the charts with BON JOVI, CINDERELLA, POISON and EUROPE all over the metal mags and MTV. The thrash and underground scenes are becoming mainstream with METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and METAL CHURCH taking their spot at the metal table. American young guns are making a dent as QUEENSRYCHE, TESLA, STRYPER and WASP are quickly gaining a following. The British Invasion  acts are changing their image as JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, OZZY OZBOURNE and BLACK SABBATH are trying to keep their hold at the top. He’s also one of the most introspective and grateful persons I’ve ever met… On this call Rudy talks about immigrating from Cuba with his family… auditioning for Quiet Riot… how and why Ronnie James Dio just “Raised the bar”... the REAL value of MTV for artists… his faith and spirituality… and “The Hustle” and why it’s always on for him. On Episode 7, I interview Brian “Head” Welch, a guitarist with the heavy metal band Korn. Brian has released a new book by Thomas Nelson titled “With My Eyes Wide Open.”(In my monologue I call this Episode 6. That was a goof, so please ignore. This is Ep. 7).The book tells his story during the time he left Korn. Brian was a new Christian who was trying to live out his faith. The book is extremely open and honest about Brian’s missteps, ones that I believe every Christian can relate to, even if they are not literal rock stars.Brian says that as a kid, he was bitten by the rock ’n roll bug. “I wanted to do that.” He loved music, acoustic and electric guitars. He met the Korn band members as a child. “We all just wanted to be rock stars.”The future Korn band members joined and/or formed — and broke up from — several bands while in school. Around 1992-93 they all ended up in Hollywood and formed Korn. They wrote music and received a record deal and hung out with the likes of Megadeth and Ozzy Ozbourne and Marilyn Manson. They sold thousands of records, then millions. They won Grammys. They were on top of the world.“The dream I had as a kid did not match what I was living. The music was good, it was awesome, the fans were great, but … I was appreciative, but it was not fulfilling like I thought it would be.”Drugs and partying left him suicidal. He ended up in a church and asked the Lord into his heart. “Instantly the meaning for life came into me.”That’s when he left Korn.“I thought it was going to be forever” away from Korn. But God led Brian back recently. On witnessing in the heavy metal industry: There are a few Christians out there but not many. Many brought up as Christians but left because it was too strict or unloving. Religion turned them off. Jesus died for the relationship aspect. Some Christians keep it to themselves. “But that’s not what I read in the Bible.”Brian and Korn are finishing a new record that will come out in late summer 2016 under a new label. The recording has just wrapped.“With My Eyes Wide Open” was not easy to write, Brian said, but the book would not have been possible if his daughter had not been willing to share her story, which included cutting herself. “I’m really proud of her.” She graduated this spring from high school. The book is a good read for fans of Korn as well as troubled teens, Brian said. He called what his daughter went through an epidemic. “I hope it helps kids like that.”
