We got an update from the listener who wanted to possibly prevent her boyfriend from proposing the way she heard he might. And she did...then in Group Therapy, his wife was seen in a pic with another dude's arms wrapped around her. Does he confront her about it? Magic paper towels appear in Little Kid or Drunk Adult and there's a new way for men to stop losing their hair that may not be super practical...for anyone.
Can you guess whether these crazy things happened because they were a little kid or a drunk adult??

This week on the show, Jeff's audio is crap, but the conversation is great! John kicks us off with a mini-review of Steven Soderbergh's “Black Bag”, starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender. Once he gives his thoughts, we gripe about filming expenses in LA and the US as a whole and compostables before getting to our featured conversation, “Dial ‘M' For Murder”, the Alfred Hitchcock classic. Our second time visiting 1954, we give you some context by reading some film facts and trivia, American facts and trivia, and then get to the show. Our phone number is 646-484-9298. Welcome to another "This or That" episode! This short, snappy installment investigates the sustainability of three topics you've asked me about, helping you make informed decisions. In this episode, we'll be covering three unusual options: E-readers vs. physical books: Kindles versus your everyday old book. Hand dryers vs. paper towels: I personally find hand dryers annoying. The best type of laundry detergent: There are many options, but I've been seeing a lot of advertising for those strip things, and I have strong opinions about them. In this episode, I share: The pros and cons of e-readers like Kindle versus traditional books from an environmental perspective. Why a physical book has a higher carbon footprint initially but can last decades. The surprising third option for reading that is actually better. Why hand dryers have a lower environmental impact. Why laundry strips are not as eco-friendly as their marketing suggests. How tablets are convenient but may contribute to microplastic pollution. What the worst detergent solution is for the environment. Key Quotes: "If you're a heavy reader, an e-reader is the best option. But just keep that thing for as long as you possibly can." "Paper towels may slightly reduce bacteria on hands compared to air dryers, but the difference is pretty minimal for practical purposes." "These strips don't dissolve as they claim to... it's a pretty big red flag." Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Join Scot and Greg as they discuss Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's dropping charges against most of the Columbia students arrested to taking over a campus building, the latest delusional narratives from anti-school choice leftists, and Good Morning America's bizarre campaign against paper towels. There are no good martinis today, so Scot and Greg start by tearing into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for giving the Columbia students who occupied a building (and held a custodian hostage) a free pass on the grounds that the university would handle their discipline internally and that there somehow wasn't sufficient evidence to charge them. They point out the glaring double standard in how Bragg treats individuals who line up with his political preferences. They next raise a double-fisted bad martini to the unhinged anti-school choice rhetoric that leftists are pushing, starting with Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Gates claiming that conservatives want black children to stay illiterate. They then delve into Scientific American's push for greater federal regulation of homeschooling, specifically parents, and why it makes no sense. Finally, they puzzle over "Good Morning America's" stunning and brave stand against paper towels as it offers various (ineffective) alternatives to viewers. Scot notes that the point of these useless alternatives is really to feel better about yourself, not to get anything done. Please visit our great sponsor: Lumenhttps://lumen.meTake the next step in improving your health. Larry spent a whole Sunday clearing a drain clog in a sewer line at a rental house. This is the story and how to prevent these types of problems. Flushing certain items down the drain can lead to clogs, plumbing issues, and environmental problems. Here are the top five things that homeowners should avoid flushing down the drain: 1. Grease and Cooking Oils: o Pouring grease and cooking oils down the drain might seem convenient, but they can solidify and cause blockages in your pipes over time. Instead, let them cool and solidify in a container, then dispose of them in the trash. 2. Flushable Wipes: o Despite the label "flushable," many wipes do not break down as easily as toilet paper and can contribute to blockages in sewage systems. It's better to dispose of them in the trash. 3. Paper Towels and Tissues: o While toilet paper is designed to break down in water, paper towels and tissues are more durable and can cause clogs in pipes. Dispose of them in the trash rather than flushing them. 4. Medications: o Flushing expired or unused medications down the drain can contribute to water pollution and harm aquatic ecosystems. Instead, participate in a medication take-back program or follow proper disposal guidelines provided by local authorities. 5. Dental Floss: o Dental floss is not biodegradable and can contribute to clogs. It can also wrap around and damage plumbing components. Dispose of dental floss in the trash. Remember, the best way to prevent plumbing issues is to be mindful of what goes down the drain. If you're unsure about the flushability of an item, it's generally safer to dispose of it in the trash. Regular maintenance, such as using drain screens and scheduling professional inspections, can also help prevent costly plumbing problems.
