It's the 90th anniversary of the RAD in Australia, so we are speaking to Shelley Yacopetti, the RAD's National Director in Australia. Not all the national directors come from a dance background – but Shelley emphatically does: as a performer, teacher, leader. She has been involved with the RAD in Australia for over a decade, taking several roles before becoming National Director. Shelley is also helping shape the conversation around the direction of travel in dance teaching – thinking hard about safeguarding, and how dance can be more accessible and reflect the wider world. Shelley Yacopetti has over 30 years' experience in the dance industry in multiple roles, including performing artist, academic lecturer, dance educator, arts manager and executive. She trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), completing a Diploma of Performing Arts and later a Bachelor of Arts. Shelley performed with Tasdance, Fieldworks Performance Group and ID339, and taught at WAAPA and on RAD Faculty of Education Postgraduate teacher training programmes. Shelley joined the RAD in 2013, and is currently the National Director, Australia. 90 Stories Across 90 Years https://www.royalacademyofdance.org/en-au/news-and-facts/celebrating-90-years-of-the-rad-in-australia-2/Why Dance Matters is a dance podcast featuring inspiring conversations with extraordinary people from the world of dance and beyond. Our Father Luke 11:1–13 What kind of Father invites you to pray? One who gave His Son for you. When Jesus teaches us to pray, He begins not with “Almighty God” or “Righteous Judge,” but with “Father.” That one word changes everything—it reveals not just a title but a relationship. In Christ, His Father is now your Father. His prayer is now your prayer. And yet, how easily we forget. We treat prayer like a last resort or a vending machine. We love the gifts more than the Giver. We go it alone. Earthly fathers, too, fall short—speaking in anger, failing to guide, or remaining absent. The Law shows us where we fall short as children and as parents. But Jesus points us to the cross, where the Father gave His Son to make us His own. In Holy Baptism, the Spirit teaches us to cry, “Abba, Father.” He gives us the courage to ask, seek, and knock. And the Father listens. He delights to hear your voice. That's why, just before the Supper, we pray the “Our Father.” It's the family table prayer of God's children. Here, the Father feeds us with the Body and Blood of His Son and says, “Welcome home.” ✝️ Worship with Us at Trinity – Sheboygan, WI Sundays – 8:00 & 10:45 a.m. Mondays – 6:30 p.m. https://trinitysheboygan.org

Each episode we choose a single play to talk about in depth with our expert guest. We'll discuss the play's origins, its themes, characters, structure and impact. For us the play is the thing. It is Sylvia and Marek's wedding day. But this is not an entirely traditional English wedding, because unlike her older sisters, Sylvia's husband-to-be is not a local man; Marek is a Polish immigrant. As the festivities unfold, fuelled by beer and vodka, emotions run high, and fault lines appear within the family that will change their lives forever. Beth Steel's Till the Stars Come Down, is an hilarious and heartbreaking family drama, as well as a richly layered exploration of the social and economic landscape of the country they live in. Till the Stars Come Down premiered to great acclaim at the National Theatre in January 2024, and as we record this episode is back on stage at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London's West End. I'm delighted to be joined by the play's author, Beth Steel.

Amrit Tietz is an international DJ and co-founder of the modern motherhood platform Spread the Jelly. Although she initially set out to study economics, Tietz dropped out of college, unbeknownst to her parents, to pursue a path she was more passionate about: music. She auditioned multiple times for the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, a music conservatory, before being accepted into the musical theater program. During her time there, she collected jazz units and switched to a music performance degree while also learning how to DJ on the side. Tietz moved to New York City after graduating and worked various jobs—from waitressing to retail—while taking DJ gigs to build her network. She eventually landed a full-time role at Starworks Agency, advancing from executive assistant to director of talent and engagement. After nearly six years at the ad agency, Tietz decided to take her DJing career full-time, successfully leaping from managing talent to becoming the talent herself. She has since toured globally, performed for iconic names like Dior and Vogue, and had her original music featured in HBO and Apple TV+ productions. While Tietz continues to DJ—and did so even while seven months pregnant—she recently moved into a new space with Spread the Jelly, an independent online platform redefining the narrative around modern motherhood. She and her co-founder, Lauren Levinger, launched the platform as a space for mothers to tell their diverse stories more authentically, build community, and “embrace the sticky” parts of motherhood together. The One Who Serves | Luke 10:38–42 Mary sat at the Lord's feet. Martha served with urgency. But Jesus did not rebuke Martha's service—He simply reminded her of what was most needful. In this moment from Luke's Gospel, we find both Mary and Martha giving and receiving. And in the middle of it all stands Jesus—the One who serves. He teaches, He receives, and He continues to do the same for us today. When we gather in worship, Christ serves us with His Word and Sacrament. And when we serve one another, He tells us that He receives it as service unto Himself. Key Takeaways: • Jesus comes to serve us in Word and Meal • We receive His gifts, and we respond in service • In serving others, we serve Christ Himself

Jesus' Neighbor, and Yours Luke 10:25–37 | The Parable of the Good Samaritan Who is my neighbor? It's a question asked not just by a lawyer in Jesus' day, but by many of us still today. In one of the most well-known parables, Jesus shows that our neighbor is not defined by geography, background, or even behavior—but by need. The one who needs your mercy is your neighbor. The hymn reminds us, “The Law of God is Good and Wise” (LSB 579), and that law calls us to love, serve, and show mercy to all whom God places before us—yes, even the unlovable, the overlooked, and the outright difficult. Whether it's the wounded, the wicked, or the weary, the call is the same: “Go and do likewise.” Christ Himself is the ultimate Good Samaritan—He did not pass us by in our sin and death but came to us, bore our burdens, and paid the cost to make us whole. Now, in His mercy, we are set free to do the same for others.

Gurudev and Bapu explores the extraordinary exchange of letters and ideas between Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle. Over 25 years, their correspondence reveals sharp differences on key issues—nationalism, civil disobedience, education—but also unwavering respect and affection between the two. Their dialogue reflects a time in India's history marked by thoughtful disagreement and political maturity—offering insights into how principled dissent and mutual regard can coexist. Bangalore Little Theatre was honoured to present early performances of the play at places closely associated with Gandhi and Tagore—Sabarmati Ashram, Santiniketan (Visva Bharati), and Thakurbari-Jorasanko (Rabindra Bharati). It has also been staged for the President of India. Adapted from the internationally acclaimed production with over 130 performances in India and abroad, this staging promises a compelling reflection on two great minds and the values that shaped a nation. This performance is a tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's enduring legacy, presented around the time of his birth anniversary. Episode 098: Stereophonic by David Adjmi Host: Douglas Schatz Guest: David Adjmi Welcome to The Play Podcast where we explore the greatest new and classic plays. Each episode we choose a single play to talk about in depth with our expert guest. We'll discuss the play's origins, its themes, characters, structure and impact. For us the play is the thing. It is 1976, and a fictional rock band are holed up in a studio in California attempting to record their much anticipated second album. The pressures of an inflated studio budget and raised artistic expectations expose the fault lines in the band's professional and personal relationships. David Adjmi's Tony-award-winning play, Stereophonic, is a fly-on-the-wall depiction of both the magic and the monotony of collaborative artistic endeavour, as the cast recreates the live process of making music, and play out the price they pay for their art and fame. As we record this episode, Stereophonic has opened in London's West End following its triumph on Broadway, and I am thrilled to be joined by the play's author, David Adjmi, to explore his unique creation.
