Matthew 16:21-17:8 | Kingdom Now: Listen to Him (with Jeff Stemple)

"Christmas is DYNOMITE"

What happens when following Jesus doesn't look like what you signed up for? In this message, guest speaker Jeff Stemple picks up where last week's sermon left off — right at the moment in Matthew 16 where Jesus begins speaking plainly about suffering, rejection, and death, leaving his disciples confused, disappointed, and wrestling with their faith. From there, Jeff walks us into one of the most breathtaking moments in all of Scripture: the Transfiguration. In Matthew 17, just six days after that difficult conversation, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a mountain — and what they witness there is God's direct answer to their confusion and disillusionment. His face shining like the sun, Moses and Elijah present, and a voice from heaven declaring the same words spoken at Jesus' baptism — with one powerful addition: Listen to him. That command is the heartbeat of this message. When the disciples were struggling most, God didn't offer an explanation. He gave a command. And that command still stands for us today.Jeff unpacks three ways we can get to a place of genuine, obedient listening: seeing Jesus for who he truly is (not merely who we want him to be), resisting our desire to control and manage our circumstances, and following Jesus back down the mountain into the ordinary obedience of everyday life.If you've ever felt disillusioned in your faith — like the experience isn't matching the advertisement — this message is for you.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

What does self-isolation do? Proverbs 18:1–12 looks forward to the midweek sermon. In these twelve verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that self-isolation hurts you, and hurts others. Proverbs 18 contrasts the destructive power of the fool's tongue with the life-giving wisdom of the righteous, revealing how pride and isolation lead to ruin. In vv1–12, the fool, who seeks only his own desires and rejects wise counsel, exposes himself in ways that invite contempt, dishonor, and reproach, turning his speech into a snare for his own soul. His words, likened to deep, murky waters, obstruct truth, promote partiality, and fuel conflict, ultimately destroying both himself and the community. In contrast, the wise person, marked by humility and trust in God, builds relationships and finds safety in divine authority, reflecting how true honor flows from submission and faith. The devotional calls believers to guard their speech, resist gossip, and embrace humility as the path to lasting wisdom and blessing.

The Emotional Abuse Recovery Podcast

Subscriber-only episodeSend us a Text Message. In this deeply insightful episode, we dive into the often-overlooked consequences of self-isolation following emotional abuse. After touching on the topic in a previous episode, we now explore the intricate web of emotional and physical dangers that prolonged isolation can weave. Emotional abuse leaves scars that go beyond the surface, often leading to feelings of shame and embarrassment. These emotions can drive survivors to withdraw from their social circles, seeking refuge in solitude. However, this episode uncovers how such self-imposed isolation can exacerbate emotional pain and lead to severe physical health issues, including compromised immune function, cardiovascular problems, and even cancer.Through the lens of a powerful case studies, we illustrate the vicious cycle where emotional distress triggers physical ailments, which in turn heighten emotional suffering. Listeners will learn about the critical importance of breaking free from this cycle, acknowledging the problem, and reaching out for support. We provide practical strategies for building a supportive network, practicing mindfulness, and setting healthy boundaries to foster reconnection and healing. This episode aims to empower listeners to take the first steps towards reclaiming their health and well-being, breaking the chains of isolation after emotional abuse and narcissistic abuse, and moving forward with hope.FREE 20 Minute Chat: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715&appointmentType=62233354To set up a FREE Consultation to see if my coaching programs are a fit for you:https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=25254715&appointmentType=63611986To send a DM, visit Allison's profiles on Instagram and Facebookhttps://www.instagram.com/allisonkdagney/https://www.facebook.com/allisonkdagney/To learn more about my Programs visit the websitewww.whentearsleavescars.comFormerly (The Emotional Abuse Recovery Podcast)

Sometimes we absorb too much from people should be allowed to give to back and replenish ourselves especially since we know we can't bring any positive energy back at this moment.

Today's session is a healing treatment on the habit / pattern of Self Isolation. We will address prolonged feelings of loneliness, forlorn, disconnection, helplessness and the habit of isolation.    Before listening to this session, think to yourself right now about how many ways you isolate yourself from others, from yourself, from your gifts, passions, inspirations. What comes up immediately after you have a super great idea? Think of the ways in which you experience almost instantaneous shut down and stopping of your flow, your excitement, your natural enthusiasm to engage your drive and to follow through on your excellent ideas and natural inclinations and social connection impulses.  Have these all in mind and more, before listening. They will be addressed in this session and beyond.    Learn more at  www dot PureSoulAlchemy dot com   Join in for this 30 minute soul realignment process! Welcome to another episode of For You From Eve. We are joined on another Friday where we sit and chat all about self isolating when we're going through something, being okay with being alone, not feeling lonely when you're by yourself, telling your friends you need some time apart, and finding comfort in your own brain. Whenever I am going through a hard time, I tend to go “MIA” and not want to see or talk to anyone about the way I am feeling, and it becomes difficult for me to talk about my emotions. I often disappear on my social media accounts, and need to face everything on my own. As amazing as it is to be able to work on things by yourself, finding comfort in the people that love and support you is just as important. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted a question and listens and supports my show! Many who suffer from devastating CPTSD often choose self isolation rather than risk their safety in the world and re-experience the horrible trauma from their past. Doesn't matter if it is in their work environment, new relationships or just being out in public with a group or friends or strangers they often feel unsafe because they cannot trust those they are with and do not want to trigger any flashbacks, so it's simply easier to stay home and isolate themselves from any dangers, real or not. It's important for someone who uses self isolation as a method of soothing their pain and suffering to get the help they need in order to have any chance to live happy and healthy. Seeing a therapist and getting the proper help, like Structural Dissociation theory will no doubt help a person with CPTSD begin to heal from their pain and suffering. I will be hard work and you will experience set backs but this will ultimately give you the power and strength to again feel freedom from your trauma and learn to live your life without fear. New Zealand's re-opening plan has been sped up - and the self-isolation requirement scrapped. From today, New Zealanders and their families arriving from Australia can skip MIQ. Now from Thursday, they won't have to self-isolate at all. From Saturday - vaccinated New Zealanders from all over the world will be allowed home and straight into the community - about a week earlier than initially signalled. Travellers will instead have to take a rapid antigen test on the day they arrive, and another five or six days later. Speaking at her regular post-Cabinet media conference, the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the change is based on advice from experts - given the rapid spread of Omicron.

Australia's begun reopening its borders to international travellers and some states are easing COVID restrictions, but it's just a fraction of what Boris Johnson is about to do in England.  The British Prime Minister's set to declare victory in the fight against COVID, and will this week move to scrap all restrictions including self-isolation rules.  It'll be a welcome distraction for a leader under immense pressure over the Downing Street lockdown parties scandal, but scientists say he's moving too fast.  Today, a former director of the World Health Organisation, Dr Anthony Costello, on Boris Johnson's litany of pandemic mistakes, and why nations like Australia shouldn't follow in his footsteps.  Featured:  Professor Anthony Costello, Institute for Global Health, University College London

Auckland Airport general manager Scott Tasker has told Checkpoint the international flight movements at Auckland in 2021 were about the same as what they were 35 years ago. "So we've got a long way to rebuild. And we're literally competing with other airports and countries for that international airline capacity. And at the moment, we don't look like a very attractive place for an airline to invest the resources." He said they're pleased to see New Zealanders will be able to return home soon, but self-isolation rules are "a concern". "We don't think people can commit to travel to New Zealand, if they have to take a self isolation period. And our airline customers are really concerned that they won't see the demand they need in order to lay on flights back to New Zealand either. "If you're sitting at your headquarters of your airline in North America and Asia and you're looking at New Zealand versus another destination that is open and welcoming travelers, you're going to be pretty hesitant to deploy your aircraft to our country and to put your seats on sale, because you don't know that you're going to have the certainty of having any passengers on board that flight. "From an Auckland Airport perspective, 12 airlines flying to 22 international destinations. If we compare that to pre COVID, we had 29 international airlines flying to 43 destinations. "And if we look in the South Island it's even worse, it's currently one international airline flying to one destination.
