Sony has announced the FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS (SEL400800G) - Sony's first 800 mm super-telephoto zoom G Lens. This brand-new Alpha lens flaunts high resolution performance across the entire zoom range, beautiful bokeh, as well as fast, precise, and accurate AF (autofocus). In addition, the inner-zoom design, which minimises change in the centre of gravity, allows for stable framing. It is also compatible with the separately sold 1.4x and 2x teleconverter that can extend the maximum focal length to 1600 mm making this lens ideal for shooting birds, wildlife, sports, aircraft and landscapes. "At Sony, the needs of photographers and creators are always prioritised so we are very proud to introduce the FE 400-800MM F6.3-8 G OSS - the longest focal length in the Sony E-mount lens line-up," said Yann Salmon Legagneur, Head of IP&S Marketing, Sony Europe. "With premium G Lens quality and an innovative design, this super-telephoto zoom lens delivers outstanding image quality at all focal lengths, even up to 1600 mm with a 2x teleconverter." Go long with the Alpha lens of 800 mm super telephoto zoom The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS is the Alpha lens to cover a 400 mm to800 mm super telephoto range and can even be extended to a maximum focal length of 1600 mm with a 2x teleconverter. With an inner-zoom mechanism, the length of the lens does not change, so the centre of gravity remains almost unchanged for stable handling and control. The lens features a smooth, easy zoom ring rotation for precise zooming, whilst careful design prevents any accidental focal length changes. Beautiful rendering and natural bokeh throughout the zoom range The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS has an 11-blade circular aperture that helps to create beautiful ball bokeh in smooth, creamy background when shooting with a narrow depth of field. Six ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements effectively control chromatic aberration, whilst flare and ghosting in backlit conditions are also thoroughly suppressed for beautiful photography. Fast, precise AF captures even the quickest subjects Two precision linear motors drive the FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS 's focus group for fast, accurate focusing. Tracking keeps up with the 120 fps maximum burst speed of the Alpha 9 III, and quiet operation expands the array of possibilities. A focus range switch (FULL/10m-NEAR/¥-8m) can also be used to optimise control for different subject distances. Focus breathing is suppressed for refined movie quality. Solid support for handheld or tripod-mounted shooting The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS can easily be used handheld without shake-induced blur by the built-in Optical SteadyShot TM image stabilisation. What's more, stabilisation is even better with an Alpha body that includes image stabilisation. Durable components, optimised balance, and a non-removable foot maximises reliability and performance. And when using a tripod, the tripod mount foot can be quickly rotated for horizontal or vertical orientation, that supports a wide range of shooting subjects. High-level control and reliability for any situation Three focus hold buttons at 90° increments around the FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS 's barrel allow easy access in any orientation and other functions can be assigned to the buttons as needed. The internal zoom and a dust and moisture resistant design maximises reliability with a front element that has a fluorine coating that repels contaminants and makes the lens easier to clean. Additionally, Full-time DMF automatically engages manual focus when the focus ring is operated, making it easy to apply fine manual adjustments or change the focus entirely. Lastly, the lens hood has a new design with a lock button and filter opening for easy operation. Pricing and Availability The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8 G OSS will be available in March 2025 for approximately €3,000 EUR at a variety of Sony's authorised dealers. When paired with the latest Sony's Alpha series cameras, it is an ideal option for a wide variety of creative uses in both photography and videography, including portraiture, wedding, travel, and cinematic video. "In 2016 we launched our G Master lineup and the first generation 85 mm F1.4 lens was one of the three lenses part of that pivotable moment for Sony. The 11-blade circular aperture and optimisation of spherical aberration during the design and manufacturing process provide the beautiful, soft bokeh that is the hallmark of G Master series. Fast, Precise, Quiet Autofocus and High Tracking Performance The FE 85mm F1.4 GM II's AF is agile, maximising the speed advantage of advanced camera bodies. For stills, it is up to 3 times fastericompared to the previous modelii, tracking moving subjects with high precision. It keeps up flawlessly with the Alpha 9 III's 120fpsiiicontinuous shooting, and subject tracking performance is improved by as much as 7 timesii. Lightweight and Stylish Design without Compromises Compared to the current FE 85mm F1.4 GMi, the weight of the FE 85mm F1.4 GM II (642 grams, 22.7 oz.) is approximately 20% lighterivand 13% smaller in volume, which is achieved through the latest mechanical technology and optical design.

Nicolas Babin, a french citizen has over 30 year experience in high tech industry. He has worked and lived for over 20 years in the US, Europe and Japan. He is a pioneer in AI and robotic having served over 15 years at the helm of Sony Europe. He was managing director of Sony Entertainment Robots Europe and head of communication for Sony Europe. He then was managing director of several companies in the US, UK, Germany and France. Nicolas created and developed over 21 companies in his career so far. He has sat and sits on many boards as a non executive and executive member. Most passionate about I am most passionate about the project that takes up about 80 percent of my time today. It’s a company that I started three years ago with an associate and good friend of mine, Benoît Mirambeau. The two of us started a diabetes management company named MirambeauAppCare. This company manages diabetes, especially the level of insulin that people need to inject themselves with based on their doctors’ protocols, glycemic levels, food intake, and workout activities. It’s relevant for all types of diabetes (type 1 and type 2) as well as for pregnant women. Starting the company MirambeauAppCare stems from the fact that Benoît’s mother has been ill with diabetes for 30 years. In 2015, it got so bad, she fell into a coma. Benoit got scared and said, “Don't worry, Mom. It's Friday. By Monday, I will have found an app for you.” Throughout the weekend, he looked for an app but could not find anything that would manage the exact level of insulin for her. Benoît’s passion is coding. So, he said, I'm going to make you one. He worked for over 800 hours to create this app, which is based on doctor's protocols and can take into consideration, as I mentioned before, glycemic levels, food intake, and workouts. After that, he started to test it and show it to doctors. Everybody was amazed. But Benoît had never created a company. When I became involved, his company was my 16th company. We had the same accountant. So, he went to his accountant and said, “Look, I have this product. Everybody's telling me that it’s fantastic. I need to start a company but I don't know how.” And the accountant put us in touch. We became friends instantly. We have a very great relationship. I helped him set up the company. He's the CEO of the company. I'm in charge of everything but development. I'm in charge of marketing, sales, international business development, etc. He’s like a CTO. He’s the CEO but he's in charge of the product. That's how we started the business. Then we won the CES Innovation Award in 2018 in Las Vegas, while last year we won the Arab Health Innovation Award in Dubai. We're the only company that has this type of product based on A.I. and machine learning. Machine learning is part of A.I. Basically, after three months, the product becomes so personalized that it's really made for the patient. Nicolas’s career I've been involved in AI since 1996, when I headed up the Sony Robotics Division. The product was called Sony Aibo Robotic Dog for Artificial Intelligence Robot. It was a small dog that we sold from 1999 to 2005 and that was relaunched last year. I'm very lucky. I'm a passionate guy and I've really enjoyed my life so far. I've worked 20 years outside of France; I worked five years in the US and met my wife (who is American) in San Francisco. Then we moved to London to start our life together. I started a European operation in London. Then, from London, we moved to Brussels. From Brussels, we moved to Tokyo. From Tokyo, we moved to Berlin. Sony, being a Japanese company, moved me quite regularly and I went up each time I moved. I was in charge of the European robotics division. So I've been a pioneer in any type of AI. What I really enjoyed—and that's why the robotic division was perfect for me—was working with an entrepreneurial mind within a large company, which meant...
