This week on the podcast, Hallie and Katie dive into all things stay at home mom life. The mamas, who met at work over a decade ago, have both transitioned out of the office and into the home as the primary caretaker for their kiddos. The Emmy-winning entertainment journalists' days were once filled with fast deadlines, red carpets and bright lights, but now they manage a world full of dirty diapers, toddler tantrums and Ms. Rachel. While both Hallie and Katie are grateful to be home with their littles and present for all the milestones along the way, they admit, it's the hardest job they've ever had, one that is way more demanding that your typical 9 to 5 employment. In a world full of sugar-coating and obsession with perfectionism, the ladies open up about all the things no one talks about like the isolation a woman can feel and the toll it can take on your mental health. But the besties share a few of the tips and tricks they've learned along the way that have helped them manage the chaos and zero in on the gratitude.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
For some women, leaving the workforce to care for children or family is a choice. For others, it’s a necessity. But Neha Ruch, founder of Mother Untitled, doesn’t think a career pause means putting aside professional ambitions. Ali Rogin speaks with Ruch about what inspired her new book, “The Power Pause: How to Plan a Career Break After Kids — and Come Back Stronger Than Ever.” PBS News is supported by - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/about/funders
In today's episode I am joined by Neha Ruch, author of The Power Pause: How to Plan a Career Break after Kids and Come Back Stronger Than Ever, to unpack the long-standing tension between stay-at-home and working moms. Together, we explore the myths, societal pressures, and hidden labor behind both choices—while challenging the idea that ambition and motherhood are at odds. Neha shares how taking a career pause can be a power move, why it's time to end the shame around different parenting paths, and how we can better support all moms, no matter their choice.I WROTE MY FIRST BOOK! Tania is back on the podcast, and this time, we're diving into one of the biggest conversations for Catholic parents—being a working mom versus being a stay-at-home mom. Tania shares her perspective as a working mom, the joys and struggles that come with it, and why we need to stop the comparison game and instead give grace to each other. We also talk about how being a stay-at-home mom is an incredible calling, why there's no one-size-fits-all answer for families, and how God calls each of us to different paths in different seasons. Whether you're working, staying at home, or somewhere in between, this episode is all about supporting and encouraging each other as we seek to raise our children in faith.

"Quit Your Toxic Job" Webinar on January 21st, 2024. Register, especially if you are a stay-at-home mom or want to become one. Are you a stay-at-home mom due to the rising costs of daycare, unsafe schools, inflation, and/or long transport times? Because of these reasons many moms have found that their salary isn't aligned with these costs. So they choose to stay home with the kids to save money, keep their kids safer, and not be exhausted from working 40+ hours per week and 10 hours per week in traffic. I am not here to shame anyone from making a choice that feels good for you and your family! Lots of moms are in this situation. But here's what happens. The mother starts depreciating her lifelong earning potential. Because she is taking off time from work she isn't contributing to her retirement, social security, etc. Because she isn't working there is a gap in her resume. Because she isn't working she isn't adding professional skills to her experience. This is unfortunate and shouldn't be the case. What if I told you moms that you can stay home with your kids, and earn more money on part-time hours? You CAN earn money, increase professional skills, stay in the 'workforce', add to your retirement, and be at home (and have time) with your kids. I know it sounds too good to be true, but listen to today's podcast episode to know why it's not! https://www.grantwritingandfunding.com/podcast "Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts Favor, please? This week, Jordana and Dr. Naomi talk about splurging on your family, and learning how to show appreciation even when you receive a gift that you don't love. Our Overshare comes from a Betch who wonders if it's her place as a stepmom to critique her partner's parenting style. Today's Betchicist goes out to a mom feeling frustrated with family members giving unapproved gifts to her kid. Dr. Naomi writes an intention for managing stress without letting it manifest into a short temper. And we're feeling triggered by getting left out of Secret Santa, and parents who don't prioritize our sobriety journey. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
