It's time for not only a double-A single but in some ways the double-A single. In this case, Andrew and JG are tackling We Can Work It Out first (despite some faffing about). Is it the better of the two songs on the single? Will they both agree on which song is superior? And does the song work on its own terms? We Can Work It Out (1 Corinthians 6:1-11)
She was surrounded by the music, but is seldom heard from. Her relationship was splashed across every tabloid, but she's largely shunned the press. For being the muse of hits like “And I Love Her” and “We Can Work It Out,” very little is known about her. But this week, host Emma dug up enough about this Doll to put together an episode full of swinging 60s tunes and laughter! Emma shines the spotlight on the quiet Beatle girl: actress, cookbook author, lifestyle queen, and iconic redhead Jane Asher!Follow @thedollspod on Instagram to see photos and clips mentioned in this episode!(Episode starts at 6:22)Songs in this episode:Jane Asher as Alice in “Alice in Wonderland” (Argo Records, 1959)Peter and Gordon - A World Without Love (1964)The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand (1963)The Beatles - Yesterday (1965)The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows (1966)The Beatles - We Can Work It Out (1965)Special thanks to friend of the show Michael Tegio for our podcast theme song!
The Beatles Made a Mistake - Mike Cohn It should be a comfort to each of us to know that we'll probably never make a mistake as big as the one The Beatles made during this week in 1966.Following the critical and sales success of the prior year's “Rubber Soul” album, the Beatles released a new album, “Yesterday and Today,” in June 1966. The album was released in the US and Canada and contained songs that had been withheld from North American versions of other Beatles albums.Musically, it's a solid album featuring “Drive My Car,” “Nowhere Man,” “We Can Work It Out,” “Day Tripper,” and of course “Yesterday.”Where The Beatles went wrong was in the choice of the album art. The cover photo shows all four Beatles wearing white butcher's frocks with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of raw meat in their laps. The photo is in incredibly bad taste even to the less sensitive standards of 1966.I'm sharing this because on this day in 1966, The Beatles admitted their mistake and replaced the cover.I think The Beatles' experience with this botched album cover decision holds four lessons.First, it's important to acknowledge that when a team is moving quickly, team members will make some mistakes. “Yesterday and Today” was The Beatles' twelfth album released in North America in four years.Second, when you make a mistake, be willing to admit it. The Beatles did not blame their label for picking the cover. In fact, band members insisted on the cover over the label's objection. The Beatles said the cover was meant to be a protest against the savagery of the Vietnam War. I've always been skeptical of that as it seemed like an after-the-fact justification, but I appreciate that they owned the mistake.Third, correct mistakes as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. The Beatles corrected their mistake by recalling all the albums and pasting a new cover on top of the original.A few savvy DJs and record store owners did not return all the albums. This created a lucrative collector's market in copies of “Yesterday and Today” with the original cover. I've seen some sell for nearly $40,000.Finally, after correcting the mistake, put the memory aside and move on. After the cover debacle of “Yesterday and Today,” The Beatles went on to make some of their greatest albums including “Revolver,” “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,” the white album, and “Abbey Road.”Mistakes happen. I make them. You make them. Your team makes them. Even The Beatles made mistakes.Let's acknowledge that mistakes will happen when moving quickly. Then, when we do make a mistake, let's own it, correct it, and move beyond it.It's quite possible, as it was for The Beatles, that your best work may follow your biggest mistake, How to connect with AgileDad: - [website] https://www.agiledad.com/ - [instagram] https://www.instagram.com/agile_coach/ - [facebook] https://www.facebook.com/RealAgileDad/ - [Linkedin] https://www.linkedin.com/in/leehenson/

JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @ KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM FOR THIS WEEK'S PODCAST EXPLORING THIS ECLIPSE'S MESSAGE THAT AN OPPOSITIONAL “IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY” ATTITUDE ONLY GETS YOU SO FAR, WHILE NEGOTIATION & COMPROMISE OF THE “TRY TO SEE IT MY WAY KIND” PROMISES A BETTER CHANCE FOR PEACE! This Libra Full Moon lunar eclipse asks us to realize that true partnership takes hard work & the commitment now to release any romanticized notions that relationship can magically simply work--without some kind of realistic effort to empathize with those of opposing viewpoints. The Beatles lyrics of “We Can Work It Out” come to mind: “Try to see it my way, do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on? If we see it your way, things may fall apart before too long…we can work it out, we can work it out…”But “can we work it out?” is the question as this Libra Full Moon lunar eclipse which occurs at 5'07 Libra at midnight PT & 3 a.m. ET March 25. Falling in the 9th House of law, immigration, morality, integrity, etc., & opposing the Aries Sun in the 3rd House of communication of the U.S. capitol illustrates the philosophical differences between those who prefer to duke it out with those who are willing to compromise for the sake of a higher purpose. The key lies with duking it out for the purpose of negotiating a compromise at this lunation, especially since both luminaries are waxing toward squares to Washington, D.C.'s 10'13” Capricorn/Cancer Ascendant/Descendant.This lunar eclipse has the Libra Moon standing alone against Aries Sun reminding it that independent action can only work for so long before some kind of partnership agreement can be reached. Negotiation & compromise is the only way to settle long term disputes in ways that may not make everyone joyous, but satisfies both parties enough in the end to forge a harmonious peace. This eclipse lunation is similar to the the Pisces New Moon on March 10 in that all of the planets are squished into a crowded conglomeration including from Jupiter in Taurus to Pluto in Aquarius. Back then, however, the Pisces Moon & Sun came together and were included in this fold, indicating both the possibility for a myopic focus in the negative sense, but also a strong sense of concentrated attention that could benefit specific areas of life. Now, since the conglomeration of planets is almost exactly the same--with the exception of the Sun's move into Aries on March 18 & Mars pending move into Pisces March 22—this eclipse lunation differs basically because the Libra Moon is now opposing the Aries Sun which resides within this group. So we have a situation where the Libra Moon's plea for negotiation & compromise toward a peaceful resolution of disputes between partners can be recognized in stark contrast to the ideologies of Pluto in Aquarius, the impetus for war amongst the planets in Aries, including the Sun, Chiron, Mercury, & Eris (Mars's sister in Greek mythology & the dwarf planet known as the goddess of discord & chaos), & the realization that we all share in the Piscean commitment to help those less fortunate than ourselves. At this eclipse, the Libra Moon is separating from a trine to Pluto in Aquarius, & a quincunx to Mars in Pisces. The former denotes a potential agreement between partners through negotiation, the latter a necessary adjustment as Mars moves from ideological warrior in Aquarius to a more empathic & compassionate one in Pisces. That's especially true as Venus now separates from Saturn in Pisces, a conjunction aspect that signifies commitment in partnership. Today's podcast, which drops at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET 2 KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM, explores how we got here from there through a look back at this month's lunar cycle since March 10 & the one from February 9, with a detailed discussion of what's been revealed to us all since then & what needs to be released now. Included in this is a look at GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's chart & how public perception has changed over time due to transiting Pluto's quincunx to his Leo Ascendant & the royal star Regulus, & transiting Uranus's approach to his Taurus Midheaven. Whether he pulls himself out of his current financial mess—which requires he post a $454 million bond by March 25, the day of the lunar eclipse—or not, we look at whether this portends further losses in public support for him…Don't miss this enlightening podcast! On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Pastor Joe Troutman preached "We Can Work It Out" from Philippians 2:12-18. 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

Grab your guitar and join me in learning the whole of this fantastic Beatles tune. An absolute classic riff and really fun solo to play. This is one I always reccomend my students to learn.Day Tripper" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a double A-side single with "We Can Work It Out" in December 1965. The song was written primarily by John Lennon with some contributions from Paul McCartney and was credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. Both songs were recorded during the sessions for the band's Rubber Soul album. The single topped charts in Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway. In the United States, "Day Tripper" peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and "We Can Work It Out" held the top position. "Day Tripper" is a rock song based around an electric guitar riff and drawing on the influence of American soul music. The Beatles included it in their concert set-list until their retirement from live performances in late August 1966.If you find this stuff useful leave me a review on Spotify or Apple PodcastsBecome a Blues Guitar Show Member: https://www.buzzsprout.com/950998/subscribeShoot me a question to cover in the upcoming episodes by emailing ben@thebluesguitarshow.comFollow me on instagram @bluesguitarshowpodcastSupport the show

I will not take sides, But do my best to listen, As only together, Can we end this division. ☉
Though the Lennon/McCartney partnership really only existed in name by 1969, the two songwriters still knew who the best person was to help complete a half-written tune. As they'd done before on songs like "We Can Work It Out" and "A Day in the Life," each brought an unfinished piece they were able to stick together to make a whole with "I've Got A Feeling," combining Paul's verse idea and John's bridge. It's a song they worked on constantly during their January '69 sessions and was the source of some real touchy moments with George, but it never really took flight until Billy Preston showed up and sprinkled his magic keys on it. Billy's gospel-tinged electric piano provides the perfect call and response in the verse. Paul delivers a powerful top-of-the-range vocal that gets countered by John's more subdued bridge vocal. George's fluid leads throughout combine well with Billy's keys, and Ringo provides a super solid foundation, as always. But in the end, the song doesn't really SAY anything, it's more a performance track than an actual song. Though, I'd give my left toe to write a track like this and have it be someone's 108th favorite song of mine. Joining us this week is Denver-based singer and songwriter Julian Fulco Perron. He's got a couple of incredibly catchy, vibey, funky singles out right now, reminiscent of "Arrow Through Me" era Wings and Bee Gees grooves. And he does it all himself! We talk about being a DIY artist, genre hopping, what would have happened if Billy had joined the band full time, and Julian's great story about attending a Paul show. Follow Julian at his website, Facebook, or Instagram and stream his music wherever you stream groovy tunes! The songs "About Love" and "Burnout, Baby" are featured in this episode. Our first premiere comes from London based producer Alex Virgo who steps up to remix The Daddy Squad, a project from Andrew Armstrong. Virgo inject some indie-dance flavour into the original track as surging synth lines play off chugging vintage style bass and triumphant pads. The Daddy Squad project continues to gain pace, as Andrew Armstrong releases the second single from his debut album coming out this June. Continuing to firmly mark out a corner for himself in the Italo disco/ indie dance scene, All Day All Night Automatic includes a remix from Alex Virgo and follows on from the single We Can Work It Out featuring Vhyce and Mala Ika remixes. The album has seen early supported from the likes of Pete Tong, Horse Meat Disco, Boys' Shorts, Cormac, Massimiliano Pagliara, through to Chloe Caillet and Avalon Emerson, amongst others. This is a setup for his debut album due later in the year. Alex Virgo's remix is a coppery slice of vintage rave nuances as the UK house producer showcases his prowess in the world of 80's inspired club music. Chugging metallic style grooves that simply scream ‘go', Virgo hones in on mechanised auto-tuned vocals that roll over the top a rolling italo style bassline and soaring synth lines. A strong drum groove and elated pads complete the bill for a classy piece of indie-dance. It only took 400 episodes, but Baconsale is finally doing an episode all about The Beatles! Joel is riding on a Beatles high (NOT the kind that involves greener grass or fungus) and would happily talk Eight Days a Week about The Fab Four. Zack is Across the Universe on the opposite side of Beatlemania and was yelling “Help!” as he had to listen to all of their albums. Kent is Something in the middle, and prefers the darker, experimental side of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. However, despite our differences, We Can Work It Out as we take The Long and Winding Road of discussing the history of the band. Then we'll Come Together to reveal our bottom five and top five songs from the best-selling music act of all time. All you need is to press play to hear the biggest hits of Yesterday.
Matt Whipkey, “Gummi Soul: Another Rubber” album release show! The Beatles classic “Rubber Soul” reimagined.Featuring a special performance alongside The Movies , Stephen Sheehan and Kristen Buell Two performances , 6:30 and 8:30, $15, The Jewell Omaha , Sat. May 13TicketsTwenty years burning down the road of original compositions, Omaha-based songwriter Matt Whipkey turns his eye to one of his all-time influences : The Beatles. Previously presenting a version of the fabs' classic “Drive My Car” on his 2018 album “Driver”, Whipkey's come full circle: reimagining and interpreting The Beatles entire 1965 landmark, “Rubber Soul”. “Gummi Soul: Another Rubber” is the culmination of one of the most inspired years of Whipkey's restless musical journey. With The Beatles as his muse and “Rubber Soul” as his map, Whipkey plows fertile new musical ground with more than just a little help from his friends. At times enlisting the melodic bombast of his classic early aughts quartet, The Movies, Whipkey hands over lead vocal duties on several numbers to both veteran Omaha vocalist Stephen Sheehan (Digital Sex) and a revelatory newcomer in Kristen Buell. Not limited to landlocked Omaha, “Gummi Soul: Another Rubber” proudly features the mixing work and co-production (“Michelle”) of legendary European-based, Grammy award- winning producer Stephen Hague (Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Peter Gabriel) Throughout “Gummi Soul…” Ian Aeillo and J. Scott Gaeta also assist Whipkey in this reimagined production of the gospel according to John, Paul, George and Ringo.Covering all US and UK “Rubber Soul” album tracks along with the singles , “Gummi Soul : Another Rubber” reveals the Shakespearean nature of The Beatles songcraft. Able to withstand at times radical reworkings with melodic integrity seemingly intact: The Beatles always shine through. Alongside his signature American folk rock, Whipkey ventures into the previously unexplored waters of electronic production (Girl, I've Just Seen a Face, We Can Work It Out) even embracing elements of baroque and French pop (Michelle). Across the 19 tracks, Whipkey's fearlessness in the shadows of our Liverpool heroes is equal parts irreverence and honor. Joining Whipkey on the Jewell stage for this long in the works release celebration is his most all-star iteration to date.

Hey Jude! Our next Divided Film is the 2007 jukebox musical Across the Universe. Audiences and critics couldn’t Come Together on this homage to the Beatles and the 60s, but maybe We Can Work It Out. Figuring out whether we want this movie to Get Back or if it’s really Something, it’s just A Day In The Life here at Divided Films.
Link to the original video: https://youtu.be/KJ2t31RuRn0 In this lesson to help you better learn English, I discuss a few songs by the Beatles, so you will feel more comfortable with English phrasal verbs and terms. Some of the songs I talk about are: "Don't Let Me Down," "We Can Work it Out," "I am the Walrus," and "Paperback writer. Some of the English phrasal verbs that I cover are: let down, pick up, work out, taken down, bring home, get back, work out, let down, picking up. Some of the English terms I explain are: paperback book, hardcover book, E-book, flimsy, sturdier, steady, I need a break, their big break, broke, fully vaccinated, a pain in the neck, making faces, out of the corner of his eye, improvised, "in real time," getting buff, getting swol, fussing and fighting, fussy, only time with tell, talking behind your back. Call me by your name. We Can Work It Out. ¿Te apuntas a un programa legendario? ¡TE ESPERAMOS! Radio Nova revisite ses propres classiques : les raretés de tout bord qui rythment notre antenne, de la soul-funk au hip-hop en passant par les musiques afro-latines et la pop. Aujourd'hui : « We Can Work It Out » de Stevie Wonder.Ce matin, le Nova Classic est pour la paix des ménages. C’est Stevie Wonder qui reprend « We Can Work It Out ».« We Can Work It Out », littéralement « On peut arranger ça… ». Visuel © Getty Image / RB See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

John is off finding himself in some wild west town or some bullshit, so staff writer Zach Milkis and fellow book enthusiast joins Kate this week. They talk “Deadgar Weekend” (™ John) and try to wrest a tiny bit of joy out of what was truly a remarkable suckfest, with mixed results. Speaking of suckfests, Zach and Kate revisit their Curse of the Amazon and ponder if that's the reason for the Mariners' recent struggles. They also make fun of Parker Bridwell’s name for a while, because you make fun of things so they can't hurt you, and discuss the Orioles series, which was...a win? We guess? The duo take a moment out to appreciate the Mariners' women in baseball night, and then look over the upcoming series. Hint: here be dragons. But there might be good things coming in Haniger's return (which might mean bad things for Ben Gamel), Marco Gonzales might be fun, and Emilio Pagan (aka Zach's homeboy) definitely is. Other topics include: book shaming, Matt Christopher, the potential for a Mark Twain/Joyce Carol Oates twitter takedown, and how Jerry Dipoto might sign a ten-foot alligator (only if it had options, natch.) For some reason, Kate discusses the 1995 film Showgirls on not one, but multiple occasions. Music: "Fuego," Bomba Estereo; "We Can Work It Out," Stevie Wonder; "If There’s A Hell Below (We’re All Gonna Go)," Curtis Mayfield Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
One of the greatest albums created by any band to this point, Rubber Soul is yet another peak for the Beatles. It was the first album where they set aside time in the studio to finish writing and developing the songs, and the extra attention shows. This is even though they still finished the album in, relative to modern standards, an insanely short period of time. As always, just a list of signature tracks should be enough to show how amazing this album is: "Drive My Car," "Norwegian Wood, "Nowhere Man,""Michelle,""In My Life" and there are more and more. This isn't even counting "We Can Work It Out," which was recorded with this album and released separately. Incredible! Panelists: Will Hines, Curtis Gwinn, Joel Spence and Ariana Lenarsky.

Good Luck next week!! Black-Eyed News: Last Thursday was the 30th Anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Texas Flood.Released on June 13th, 1983, the album almost immediately made a monumental impact on music, going double platinum in the United States and winning widespread, mainstream radio airplay. Named after a cover of a 1958 blues track by bluesman Larry Davis, Vaughan’s album helped propel widespread exposure of the blues to vast new audiences. To read more about it follow the link http://www.americanbluesscene.com/2013/06/30th-anniversary-of-stevie-ray-vaughans-texas-flood/ The second story was about Paul McCartney’s performance at Bonnaroo last weekend. I didn’t so much take it for the content as I did the writing. Check out this short bit: “As a festival, Bonnaroo has come to be defined by its diversity. the main-stage headliner always plays unopposed, the idea being that entire Bonnaroo community can coalesce around a single artist. Across cultural, generational and aesthetic lines, whose catalogue could possibly be more universal than McCartney's? The answer: Nobody's. And that made this the single greatest Bonnaroo headlining performance in the festival's 12-year history, as it was moment after awesome moment of fever-pitched collective transcendence. "Paperback Writer," "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Band on the Run," "Blackbird," "Something" (played in tribute to George Harrison), "Eleanor Rigby," "We Can Work It Out," "Hey Jude" – to have not gotten swept up in and invigorated by the life-affirming celebration would be an outright rejection of joy.” That is great writing to catch the whole article go to the link: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/paul-mccartney-reigns-at-bonnaroo-20130615#ixzz2WUkaRPi9 The last story was about Paulie’s NOLA Jazz & Blues Fest in Worcester Mass. We Can Work It Out ‘Er, Menu A, please. I’ll have the spring roll, special fried rice and sweet ’n’ sour pork.’ Except Mick ordered in Spanish, of course, because the menu was in Spanish. ‘Gracias.’ This particular restaurant was nearly always empty, and he had never understood how they could stay in business. Perhaps they couldn’t. Whatever, the service was fast and friendly, the food was pretty damned good, and Menu A was the cheapest set menu in town. In fact, the only drawback was that here was a Chinese family trying to make a living in the Basque Country. It was an unlikely marriage. The waitress reappeared shortly with the spring roll. ‘Rollo de primavera.’ ‘Thank you,’ Mick said, this time in English. His defences were down – you should have seen the spring roll – and his brain had gone into autocruise. ‘Bu ke qi,’ she said, smiling mishievously, then taking her leave. In retrospect, it was one of life’s beautiful moments. So beautiful, Mick just had to rewind: ‘Rollo de primavera.’ ‘Thank you.’ It’s no good pretending I’m Spanish. I’m not fooling anyone, am I? ‘Bu ke qi.’ Hey, don’t worry. I’m not Spanish, either. But we can still be friends, can’t we?
