This episode might shake some foundations.Because we're diving into something almost no one talks about… But it might be the single most misunderstood and misused variable in your training.Rest. That's right. Rest periods. And no — I'm not talking about sleeping at night or taking a rest day. I'm talking about those 30 seconds... 60 seconds... 2 minutes... The space between your sets. Most people I coach — whether in my group fitness classes or one-on-one — they think just because they're lifting weights, they're doing strength training. But that's not how the body works. You can be holding a barbell and still not be strength training. What determines whether your training builds strength, muscle, endurance, or just gets you sweaty — Isn't the exercise. It's the stimulus. And REST is a major part of that stimulus.Resources:Brain.fm App(First month Free, then 20% off subscription)Discount Code: coachdamiensdCaldera Lab Skin Carewww.calderalab.comDiscount Code: CoachDLinks:IG:@coachdamien_sd@damienrayevans@livinthedream_podcast YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS6VuPgtVsdBpDj5oN3YQTgFB:https://www.facebook.com/coachdamienSD/

Rows are great for developing your upper back, but do they also work your biceps sufficiently? That certainly would be a good incentive to do more boring rows and less direct biceps work, to kill two swole birds with one stone. So, what does the science have to say about this? In today's episode, we break down a new study in which participants trained dumbbell rows with one arm and bicep curls with the other for eight weeks, and measured how the arms grew. The results were telling. *** Do you like what you hear so far? Please leave a five-star review in your podcast player. And hit that follow button! You can also follow us on Instagram. Send us a textFitness isn't a temporary fix or punishment but a mindset shift and way of life that requires looking beyond conventional gym culture. We need to transform our perspective on physical activity from a chore to an integral part of our daily existence, focusing on small, sustainable changes rather than quick fixes.• American infrastructure isn't designed for naturally active lifestyles, making conscious effort necessary• Many view fitness as "earning food" or punishment for bad habits—both approaches fail long-term• Replace one sedentary routine with a movement-based one (taking stairs, standing during calls)• View food as nourishment rather than restriction• Add one protein-rich food while cutting something unhealthy from your daily routine• Speak to yourself with compassion instead of criticism• Draw inspiration from blue zones, farming practices, martial arts, and other cultural approaches• Make fitness fun by connecting it to your interests and social connections• Adapt your approach based on your circumstances—limited gym access doesn't mean you can't be fit• Focus on being a fit person rather than trying to get fitIf you enjoyed this podcast, the number one way to help is to share it with a friend, and the second best option is to rate and review it. Pre-exhaust training is a strength training philosophy popularized in the 1970s. Many bodybuilders still swear by it, but what does the scientific evidence say? In today's episode, we examine a new study comparing pre-exhaust training with traditional training, and give you our thoughts on when and how to implement it in your own training. On Episode 255 of the Fit Father Project Podcast, we sit down with Fit Father member Chris Farrell, a husband, father of two young boys, and commercial appraiser from Atlanta, Georgia. Like so many busy dads, Chris was caught in the cycle of long workdays, constant travel, and family responsibilities — and his health was slipping away. At 37, he found himself tired, unmotivated, and carrying extra weight. A routine doctor's visit revealed his testosterone levels were equivalent to that of a man 30 years older. That was the wake-up call.Chris joined the Fit Father Foundations Program and committed himself to the process.
