After spending a month in Central City, the Legends catch a scoop and head off to Smallville only to find out that some nerdy guy in glasses has taken our job at the Smallville Gazette! 27 days have passed since the world almost ended and there's a lot to catch up with as we get used to the new Jonathan, including a 16th birthday party, several rocky relationships and potential love triangles, a pregnancy scare, a corrupt former mayor, and oh yea, superhero stuff! We end the episode on an ominous note with a super creepy nightmare villain working with (or for?) Bruno Manheim. They can apparently reanimate the dead and cure cancer, and that's bringing them closer...closer to some mysterious thing that will probably play out for the rest of the season. Take a listen as we discuss it all! Cougar's Comic Corner Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent (2023) #1 https://a.co/d/45Yv4ZZ ANOTHER SUPERMAN HAS FALLEN. Across the Multiverse, Kal-Els are being murdered. Val-Zod, the Superman of Earth-2, believes only one man can help stop the killing-Kal-El's son, Jon Kent! Jon will have to step across dimensions and face the killer of the Kal- Els, the monstrous Ultraman, the man who kidnapped and tortured him for years. And Val-Zod is not acting alone in trying to save the Supermen. Who is the mysterious woman alongside him? And what is her shocking connection to the Super-Family? Were you a fan of musicals before turn of the dark, and then after?Fortune and Glory is a book I read and cherished when I went to college for screenwriting in the early 2000s. It was not only entertaining, but was enlightening about Hollywood and that industry. How much can fans expect from you as far as helpful tips for writing and your process?Having had a chance to read some of the sequel, I have to say your voice as yourself is incredibly entertaining. Do you find talking as yourself as an easy thing to do in a comics format, maybe that's what you were already doing with Spider-Man and Superman? You're releasing Fortune and Glory: The Musical over your substack, with a print edition from Dark Horse in the future, about how many months will you be releasing chapters? You drew Fortune and Glory, what made Bill Walko the right choice to draw the sequel? How has it been working with Daniel Chabon who is editing the sequel? When writing about your own life, how tempted are you to punch up the moments and make them bigger than they might have been?Hollywood, broadway, what will the third book be about? What's left!?

Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Sixty-First Episode, James Gunn ruffled WBD Management's feathers over comments regarding the previous regimes of DC Studios, much to anyone wanting the company to acknowledge continuing to protect Ezra Miller has only harmed the company in their efforts to release The Flash. YouTube horror series, The Backroom, is coming to the big screen with the creator in the directing chair. DC Comics' upcoming Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent miniseries will return us to the world of Injustice as part of the DC Multiverse and Continuity! Star Wars' fans rejoice as the upcoming Jedi: Survivor will feature Fast Travel. Meanwhile, Xbox's Acquisition of Activision-Blizzard continues to face an upheaval battle as the European Union sends a Formal Antitrust warning regarding the potential ramifications. Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 is finally set to entertain the crowd in 2024 as James Cameron admits Jack could've survived The Titanic, which took him over twenty years. EA's upcoming Iron Man begins production as the Comic side of The Marvel Universe announces an upcoming Hulk Annual that will reveal the next creative team for the green beast. Tom Taylor's plate continues to fill up as he tackles The Titans, a brand new ongoing series set after the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, where the former Sidekicks take on the role of the next primary superhero team in the wake of The Justice League's disbandment. Logan and Indiana Jones Director, James Mangold, is in early talks for Swamp Thing; I think he should also do Supergirl since Woman of Tomorrow is the inspiration for that film. Disney announces sequels to Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia are in the works…while also mentioning mass layoffs are coming to restructure the company, and they've recently lost their own district due to petty governor's horrible beliefs not being backed by them. Poison Ivy, conceived initially as Six-Issue Miniseries, expanding to 12-Issues by the halfway point, has officially been promoted to Ongoing Status by DC Comics while WBD is planning to keep Discovery+ active for the foreseeable future. Wes is back with another episode of the The Comic Wrap. Wes runs down the biggest comic book and pop culture news and best conversations of the week. Superman Jon Kent's first gay kiss with Jay Nakamura is officially canon on Tuesday. Wes received the pages early and dramatically reads the most important kiss in Superman history. (00:00:00) Rumors abound DC Comics are planning to kill Clark Kent off in Action Comics soon. History proves this will only backfire on the company. (00:12:25) Corporate entities are rapidly learning they can please Twitter or Customers but not both. How long can companies continue placing virtue signaling before profits? (00:31:46) Comic book used to be snapshots of culture. They've become personality studies of comic writers who can't keep Their personal issues from dominating stories. (00:51:49) Modern comic publishers and writers are placing local comic shops and mega corporations Walmart and Amazon on a collision course writing for the trades. (01:10:26) What if the best superhero comic stories have already been told? (01:27:47) Dok joins Wes to discuss whether Batman, Superman and Spider-Man have ultimately killed ingenuity within the US comic industry. (01:50:54) The Eternals is disappointing critics and fans alike like other MCU film before it. (02:14:05) Finally, John Campea leaked photos confirming several Spider-Man: No Way Home rumors. Wes thinks this is by design to deflect criticism of The Eternals. (02:33:26) Support Thinking Critical at Ko-fi. Monthly subscriptions receive bonus content and early access to some channel content. We cannot fathom the reason behind the controversy behind Superman Jon Kent being part of the LGBTQ+ community, it doesnt make sense to us because its not like he was the first!! So speak our 2 cents on the matter and list off some other heroes, villains, anti heroes, etc who are also part of the community that didnt get that much outrage. Honestly, I'm all for representation because WHY NOT? What are your thoughts, my nerds and misfits?
Marvel and DC Comics released their comic book solicitations for January 2022. Wes sorts through well over 100 previews to find hidden gems and outright stinker. DC Comics continue using new Superman Jon Kent as a sounding board for Tom Taylor's politics. DC are light on #1 issues but over half the line star batman or a batman related character. (00:00) Marvel Comics are all about events and #1 issues in January. For some reason there are 8 total comics associated with Devils Reign. It seems a bit off base thinking a titles with low readership warrants such a wide-ranging comic event. Almost one-quarter of all Marvel Comics are also #1 issues as Marvel has run out of ideas to entice comic readers (29:53) Support Thinking Critical at Ko-fi. Wes is back with another episode of the The Comic Wrap. Wes runs down the biggest comic book and pop culture news and best conversations of the week. Rumors swirled for weeks that DC Comics writer Tom Taylor was turning new Superman Jon Kent gay. DC confirmed this week Superman will officially come out as bisexual in Superman: Son of Kal El #5. (00:00:00) Some suggest this is a natural progression for the character. But looking at writer Tom Taylor's words and recent actions by DC Comics, it's clear they're pushing a progressive agenda. (00:16:21) Just when fans thought it can't get worse, DC Comics continue their downward trajectory. Announcing new comics from Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Waid and Tini Howard in 2022. (00:37:50) Oliver Willis suggests that Superman Clark Kent has been a woke character since the 1940's. (00:59:29) Netflix Daredevil show-runner Steven S. DeKnight learned Marvel Comics EIC C.B. Cebulski used to write under an Asian pseudonym while writing Marvel Manga 20 years. DeKnight called for Cebulski's firing. (01:19:35) Writer David Michelinie and artist Erik Larsen had a public spat over who created Venom: Michelinie or Todd McFarlane. (01:39:37) Perch joins Wes to discuss the 5 worst heel turns in comic book history. (01:57:51) Finally, Tim Lim joins Wes to talk about his latest Kickstarter project, Kamen America Vol. 4. On hearing reports of the new Superman - Jon Kent coming out bisexual, Dean Cain, the former Superman actor expressed his disappointment in the concept, Sarah delivers the details.
Superman (Jon Kent) is coming out as bisexual. Salida's Dynamic Duo, Terry West and Dave Haynes, have two very different views on what that may mean for comics, readers, and the industry. DC Comics announced on October 11th, on National Coming Out Day, that Jon Kent, son of the original Superman Clark Kent and reporter Lois Lane, will kiss a male journalist friend Jay Nakamura. The kiss takes place on issue five of the series, “Superman: Son of Kal-El,” which becomes available on November 9th. We also address the rumors that the Netflix versions of The Punisher, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones are officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, director James Gunn has announced who he cast as Adam Warlock in "Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3", and there is a "WandaVision" spinoff on the way starring Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness! If they don't call the series "Agatha All Along" we're gonna lose our minds... Plus Dave's weekly Kiss Kruise update and Batman Legos have arrived at the shop! DC Comics has revealed their latest Superman Jon Kent, (son of Clark) is bisexual. Superman becomes romantically involved with his friend, a reporter called Jay with pink hair. Henry McKean met comic book fans of all ages to get reaction, and asked does it matter?
Wes is joined by Comics Aficionados: comic book and entertainment YouTtuber Tristen from Nerdette's Newsstand, award-winning comic book editor Joe Corallo, comic book retailer and YouTuber Uel Carter from Fantastic Comics, comic book critic Josh McDonald and co-host Dok. The Comics Aficionados break down all the latest comic book industry news and rumors. Jonathan Hickman confirmed what many already suspected. He's leaving the X-Men line after his Inferno miniseries releases. What most didn't expect was for Hickman to explain his planned trilogy remains unfinished as the rest of the writers veto'd the man behind House of X/Powers of X. (00:06:27) EVS started a rumor this week that new Superman Jon Kent is coming out as gay soon. The problem is, after all we've seen at DC Comics recently it's hard not to take it seriously. (00:54:09) Leah Williams confirmed Jonathan HIckman's account of a dysfunctional X-Men office. Explaining that her work on X-Factor was altered without consulting her before the series was cancelled. (01:25:26) It appears that comic book writers at Marvel and DC are getting lazier and lazier virtue signaling in comics. This week we learn Tom Taylor had Dick Grayson inherit a Billion dollars so he could give it away to all of Taylor's favorite causes. (01:52:43) Brian Michael Bendis was everywhere at DC Comics not too long ago. This week he announced his Jinxworld line is moving to Dark Horse. (02:13:20) There is a ton of new information about the future of the MCU after Phase 3. But does anyone care? (02:22:40) Finally, DC Comics announced an agreement with South Korean web comic company WebToon to adapt and produce content featuring DC Comics characters.
