THIS CASE IS ONGOING! I will provide an update when one is available. Travis Decker is wanted on a Washington State and Federal Warrant for the Murder of his 3 young daughters. On Friday, May 30th, 2025, Travis picked up his daughters from his ex-wife Whitney on a routine visit. It was supposed to last 3 hours but Travis never returned the girls. Whitney reported the girls missing, but the police refused to issue an Amber Alert because the girls were not considered endangered since Travis had never hurt the girls and never been late in returning them. This would be a mistake. 3 days later on Monday, June 2nd, the girls were discovered near Travis' white truck in the woods and they were dead. Travis was gone - with a 3-day head start - he has managed to elude the authorities for close to 2 weeks! Het zijn volgens allemaal signalen dat het goed mis is. Als Bijl kwaad wegrijdt met de kinderen, slaat zijn vriendin alarm. „Zij heeft direct gebeld met de moeder en met 112”, vertelt Ina. „Waarom wordt dan pas een dag later, op zondagmiddag, een Amber Alert uitgezonden”, vraagt Ina zich af. Bijl neemt de kinderen zaterdag mee onder het mom van een uitje: „Hij zei, ik neem ze mee naar de McDonald's”, vertelt Ina die afgelopen week sprak met de vriendin van de vader. „Hij laat zijn vriendin thuis en zegt tegen haar, dat hij met de kinderen naar het paradijs gaat.” De 10-jarige Jeffrey wordt onrustig, vermoedt dat er iets niet klopt, maar gaat toch mee. „Vanaf dat moment waren ze verdwenen”, aldus Ina. Uit onderzoek van politie blijkt dat de auto al een kwartier later in het water van de Rensel in Winchoten rijdt. Het voertuig wordt op dinsdagavond gevonden, vlakbij de genoemde McDonald's. Aimée Kiene, hoofdredacteur van Volkskrant Magazine, stelt dat het wijs is terughoudend te zijn met berichtgeving. "Het is van belang om te melden, maar je hoeft als krant niet alle informatie vrij te geven." Kiene zegt dat mensen zelf verdere gegevens kunnen opzoeken. Wendelmoet Boersema, hoofdredacteur Trouw, zegt dat media niet meer de 'megafoon-functie' van vroeger hebben. "Mensen worden op velen manieren van informatie voorzien. Amber Hagerman is a 9-year-old little girl whose legacy has helped change the lives of thousands of people in the last three decades. Unfortunately, Amber Hagerman's story has a tragic ending, but out of the tragedy a new system was born that would ultimately help save the lives of thousands of children all over the world. Every January 13 is AMBER Alert Awareness Day where the nation remembers the little girl who was abducted and murdered in in January of 1996. A teenage girl who was the subject of one of two Amber Alerts last week made plans on Instagram to meet one of the suspects. Suspects in this case and another out of Siler City face kidnapping and human trafficking charges.
