This week we're back in MCU's Phase 1 with our final movie to review with Captain America: The First Avenger.
Marvel Studios has finally dropped the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and there's A LOT to unpack! In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we break down every major reveal, hidden detail, Easter egg, theory, and shocking moment from the brand-new Avengers: Doomsday trailer. From Doctor Doom's mysterious plan to Thor's long-awaited return as a serious leader, we're diving deep into everything Marvel Studios has shown us and what it could mean for the future of the MCU. Is Steve Rogers really back... or are we looking at an evil multiversal variant? Could an evil Captain America actually wield Mjolnir? What are Incursions, and why are they so important to Marvel Comics and the Multiverse Saga? We answer all of those questions and much more. In This Episode We Discuss: Our full Avengers: Doomsday trailer reaction Doctor Doom's possible motivations and master plan Why Thor finally feels like a true leader again Steve Rogers' shocking appearance Is this the real Captain America or a Variant? Could an evil Steve Rogers lift Mjolnir? Marvel Comics history behind that possibility What Incursions are and why they're so dangerous Hidden Easter eggs throughout the trailer Characters that are noticeably absent Which heroes and villains we still expect to appear The trailer's biggest action scenes Our favorite moments Our biggest concerns Is Marvel relying on nostalgia... or building something genuinely special? While we're incredibly excited for Avengers: Doomsday, we also discuss the possibility that Marvel Studios could be leaning a little too heavily into nostalgia. Can the MCU deliver another Avengers: Endgame-level event, or will this become another example of fan service outweighing storytelling? We explore both sides of the debate. BONUS DISCUSSION: Clayface Trailer Before wrapping up, we also react to the brand-new Clayface trailer from DC Studios! We discuss: Clayface's comic book origin Why we're excited about the body horror direction The revenge-driven story How faithful the movie appears to be Why Clayface could become one of DC's biggest surprises Between Avengers: Doomsday and Clayface, comic book fans have a lot to look forward to, and we can't wait to see where both Marvel Studios and DC Studios go next. At this point, I'm not saying "I told you so." I'm sending Leftists invoices. I'd like to bill them by the prediction. Every week it's another prophecy fulfilled. "Kevin, Trump will never secure the border." Invoice. "He can't deport millions." Invoice. "Crime won't go down." Invoice. "They're finally going to put him in prison." That's not just an invoice. That's a late fee. I've warned these people about everything. Not because I'm psychic. I don't own a crystal ball. I own something much rarer in modern America: I pay attention. I kept telling them, "Stop poking Trump." We are discussing Joe Biden and on the heels of that skank Fauci. That little lying gremlin. See, the truth comes to light on these clowns. [X] SB – Fauci 1 I have nothing to hide They looked at Donald Trump the way kids look at the button marked DO NOT PUSH. "What happens if we indict him?" Push. "What happens if we raid his house?" Push. "What happens if we remove him from the ballot?" Push. "What happens if we call everybody who supports him a Nazi?" Push. "What happens if we weaponize the government?" Push. Somewhere a Leftist focus group is still asking, "Why does he keep getting stronger?" Because you're basically CrossFit for Donald Trump. Every indictment was another bench press. Every media attack was another protein shake. Every hoax was another day at the political gym. You people accidentally built the political equivalent of Captain America. I told them he wasn't going to prison. I told them he'd keep saying the election was stolen. I told them he'd produce evidence. I told them he'd go after the bureaucracy. I told them he'd crush the media. I told them the border would close. I told them he'd go on offense. [X] SB – Fauci called out by RFK Jr [X] SB – Fauci 2 Kevin Jackson has been called, the "white-collar" Joe Rogan. Given their similar backgrounds in TV, comedy, and martial arts, it's easy to see why people enjoy Kevin's show so much. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Fresh off the heels of the success of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', Marvel quickly announced that the Russo Brothers would be returning to helm the next film in the Captain America franchise. What then followed was a series of announcements that gradually sent its fandom into a shared delirium. Robert Downey Jr would be reprising his role as Iron Man...this time as an antagonist. The film would loosely adapt the famed Civil War storyline. The Black Panther would be making his MCU debut in the film. Then the big one: Marvel had reached a deal with Sony Studios for part ownership of the most important character in their expansive roster. Spider-Man would be making his MCU debut in the film, played by relative up-and-comer Tom Holland. It was a lot to whet a fan's appetite, but it also raised slight concerns that maybe they were, quite literally, writing cheques that their mouths couldn't cash. Well, 10 years on, did they cash that cheque? Is 'Captain America: Civil War' one of the best MCU films? Would Steve & Natasha be part of the KKK? SOMEHOW we answer all of this and more on this chaotic episode that does threaten to incite our own Civil War.(3:00) - Why we like (and hate) civil war (19:05) - The Accords(38:00) - Do we hold Bucky accountable?(43:15) - T'Challa & Spidey's MCU Introductions(1:00:00) - Categories(1:24:30) - Film-specific superlatives You can support us hereAlso available on YouTubeHost: Bankole ImoukhuedeGuests: Ebuka, Steve & ZikoraProduction by: Bankole Imoukhuede

The Avengers Doomsday trailer dropped this week and Doug has already watched it four times. The full reaction is here: what landed, what it means for the MCU, why the Russos coming back gives genuine reason for optimism, and why Thor not cracking a single joke in the entire trailer is one of the most promising signs this movie is going somewhere real. The biggest moments get the full breakdown. Captain America's return and the Mjolnir handoff. RDJ as Doctor Doom and the most logical in-universe explanation for why he looks exactly like Tony Stark. The Loki TVA card and whether the average viewer has any idea what that means. Shang-Chi showing up despite not appearing in a single piece of Marvel content since 2021. The Fantastic Four's involvement. Gambit getting a moment that made a 10-year-old lose her mind. And the theory that this film is essentially Marvel's version of Secret Wars, a way of pruning timelines, retiring legacy characters, and rebooting the X-Men in a way that actually makes sense. Speaking of the X-Men, Doug and Natalie watched all five original Fox X-Men films over the weekend specifically to prepare for Doomsday. The full post-mortem covers everything the franchise got wrong: Wolverine was never supposed to be the main character, Cyclops got done catastrophically dirty across every single film, Rogue never threw one punch in three movies, the X-Men never once fought as a team despite that being their entire thing, and Hugh Jackman looked completely fine in the year 2000 and we as a society did something terrible to that man over the next 24 years. Before all that: a Reddit question about socially acceptable life choices that are actually kind of insane when you sit with them. Spending money you don't have to impress people you don't like. Working five days a week just to get two days of freedom. Choosing your entire career path when you are 17 years old. Sports fanaticism and the double standard that exists between jersey-wearing adults and anyone who shows up to a convention. Gambling, specifically the rise of sports betting apps and why that cottage industry is genuinely sinister. Posting everything on social media compulsively. And the hokey pokey. The Urban Dictionary game returns. This round covers Gert, Yop, Opstopper, Cap-tain, Gup, and Poo Shuttling. Justin's definition of Poo Shuttling involves Colorado, underground pipe hacking, and a thriving East Coast black market. It is not correct. It is significantly better than correct. This week's recommendations: Justin: Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die (Hulu/Disney+). Sam Rockwell is extraordinary. Zazzy Beetz, Michael Pena, Juno Temple, Haley Lou Richardson. Weird, funny, and not far off from where we are headed. The third act gets away from itself slightly but the film is absolutely worth your time. Doug: The Long Walk (HBO). Stephen King adaptation. Dystopian future. 50 boys from 50 states walk until one is left alive. Dark as hell. Completely enthralling. Not a pick-me-upper. Go watch it. Red, White & Blues FC | The World Cup Is Over and We're Not OkaySpain lifted the trophy, Argentina got what they deserved, FIFA gouged everybody blind — and we have to go back to just being Chelsea fans now.The World Cup's over, and Jason opened the show genuinely mourning the fact that he can't just be a fan of football anymore — he has to go back to being a fan of Chelsea. Before we get into it: yes, Morgan Rogers is coming to Chelsea, and no, we're not giving you our real take on that until Thursday's transfer roundup. Consider this the palate cleanser — one last love letter to a tournament that had no business being as good as it was. We both went in with expectations on the floor and walked out calling it an A+.Spain Were Just Better — One Goal the Entire TournamentWe're united as households on this one: shout out Spain. Daniel's big argument is the one he's been screaming at Blueco to copy since day one — you build from the back and you win by not letting the other team score. Spain conceded exactly one goal the whole tournament, ran a 19-year-old out at center back, let Unai Simón coast on one or two saves a game, and still found the goal when it mattered (that Nico Williams header back across for Ferran Torres was gorgeous). The final itself was a boring, ugly watch — Spain couldn't finish, Dibu Martínez put on one of the great World Cup final keeping performances and still lost because Argentina did, in Jason's words, absolutely jack all night. They didn't register a real shot in the first 90. They deserved nothing, and Enzo Fernández taking one for the team with that cartoon second yellow felt like poetry.FIFA, Infantino, and the Great Ticket HeistHere's where we go long and angry. Trump 80-year-old-manned the trophy presentation and nobody — not even Infantino sprinting back across the stage — could get him off it. That was the only prediction we nailed all tournament. From there it's the ticket scandal: FIFA running its own resale site for the first time, a whole Belgium-fan section mysteriously going on sale the day before the US–Belgium match at $1,600 a pop against a $60 face value, tier-two seats quietly getting “expanded” into what were really tier-three views. Canada forced FIFA to relist; the US gave them carte blanche. We put Infantino on a pace to out-corrupt Sepp Blatter and genuinely mean it.Funflation and the Fans Who Paid AnywayThe part that actually depresses us: people paid. Stadiums were full. And every dollar those fans coughed up just teaches FIFA it can charge more in four years — it's not if prices go up, it's how much. Jason walks through the “painted doors” idea (companies A/B testing what you'll tolerate) and “funflation,” the creeping cost of doing literally anything fun, from World Cup tickets to Ticketmaster concerts to $100 parking and $100 subway rides to a stadium built in a swamp you can't walk to. We admit it hit us personally — we'd planned to go for a couple years and priced ourselves out rather than be “World Cup broke” for the next two. Great tournament. FIFA gets zero credit for it.The Third-Place Classic, the Booth Wars, and Closing the Book on Messi & RonaldoThe stuff we loved: England vs. France in the third-place game, a ten-goal exhibition that turned into pure competitive pride once the players got going — Jason calls it better than the final. England going into the Azteca and beating Mexico. Cape Verde drawing Spain and going home heroes. On the booth: all hail Rebecca Lowe, and please, Paramount, give us Zlatan and Thierry Henry full-time and keep Alexi Lalas as far from a microphone as humanly possible. Stu Holden gets both barrels for narrating the obvious as if he has inside knowledge, and for the whole crew being so unready for a boring final they filled time talking about the weather. We close on the legends aging out — Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar waving goodbye while Mbappé's already passed them with two World Cups likely still ahead — plus the eternal USMNT reality check (Pulisic showed up for one game and vanished; stop with the Captain America stuff) and a quick debate over whether third-place stats should count. Verdict: two enthusiastic balls way up. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit redwhitebluesfc.substack.com

Hey there, No-Prize Winners and Merry Marvel Marchers! This week's entry in “Tops and Bottoms” [pause for Mike to stop giggling for some reason] is the biggest earner of 2018 and it's the penultimate Avengers movie of Marvel's Phase 3, Ephesians 7, Jackson 5, or whatever it was and it made a barge-load of ducats when it came out, and why wouldn't it? I mean, you've got Doc Bruce Banner it, and while as the Hulk he may be un-glamor-rays, still he's apparently loveable! You've got Captain America throwing his mighty shield! And what happens to those who chose to oppose his shield? Why, they must surely yield! And here's Tony Stark who may make you feel he's a cool exec with a heart of steel, as Iron Man, with jets ablaze, he fights and smites with repulsor rays! He does! I have it on the best authority! Plus, you'll behold in breathless wonder the God of Thunder, Mighty Thor (that's a deeper). There's even some guy in this movie who does whatever a spider can! And so many other superheroes who were never lucky enough to get their own 60's theme songs, poor devils. Black Panther needs a theme song, dammit! So how does this box office juggernaut (wait, he's in another franchise, right? Maybe two?) hold up after the better part of a decade? Give a listen to Mulching Max Levine and Macerating Mike Luce to find out! Expeliarmus! I mean, Excelsior! Poll question: what's your favorite superhero movie? Leave a super comment or leave a voicemail as your secret identity on our hot line at 617-398-7266

Doug's daughter watched all four Hunger Games films in the span of about a week, and her takeaways were something else entirely. During the emotional final scene of Mockingjay Part Two, while Katniss and Peeta are shown living out a quiet life with their children, her primary concern was the gender of a background baby who has approximately three seconds of screen time and zero bearing on anything. She also forgot what propaganda meant two minutes after Doug explained it, needed a full pause-and-debrief when Johanna Mason got naked in an elevator, and spent a significant portion of Catching Fire asking questions that the movie was about to answer on its own. Doug is coping. The full debrief covers what she liked, what confused her, what she's going to ask about Se7en when the time comes ("What's lust, Dad?"), and the ever-growing list of films Doug is planning to work through with her next. Jaws, the full X-Men series, Knives Out, and eventually Deadpool when she's old enough to understand the references. Before that: the episode opens with a butthole tattoo guessing game where each host picks which of six illustrated designs they would choose, and Doug correctly identifies Justin's pick on the first try. Many Sublime songs are workshopped for thematic accuracy. Several are surprisingly applicable. Justin explains why the Sublime Sun is the objectively correct answer and cannot be argued with. Then: two embarrassing social moments that have been living rent free. Doug told his daughter's softball coach "I walk by your house all the time" while shaking his hand goodbye and has spent 48 hours replaying it. Justin misunderstood his neighbor's yard waste bin request, said "anytime buddy," walked inside, closed the door, and watched from the window as his neighbor retrieved the bin himself. Neither man will be recovering soon. Also: Marvel Rivals gave Captain America a summer skin with a historically significant bulge that had to be patched. Doug pulls up the before photo for viewers. It is substantial. The word "nerfed" was used in a sentence and everyone understood what it meant. Then the new game: Doug pulls Urban Dictionary terms including Canon Event, 404 Coded, Soft Blocking IRL, Noodle Groove, and Oil Up, and Justin has to figure out what they mean. Justin's definition of Noodle Groove involves falling asleep face down on sand and being dragged by his friends. It is not correct. It is better. This week's recommendations: Justin — Project Hail Mary (HBO Max). Not the movie he expected going in. Fantastic anyway. Go watch it immediately. Doug — Book of the Dead by Ringo Z. A LitRPG series about an 18-year-old given the outlawed Necromancer class at his awakening ceremony, now on the run from authorities while learning dark magic alone. Five books in the series. Doug finished book one and immediately started book two. We step back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe to catch up with the First Avenger as he tackles Hydra and an old friend with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Journey with us as we discuss how the Russo Brothers shape an entirely different type of Captain America film and how it leans into that classic 1970s political thriller. Is this one of the better films of the MCU or are there better iterations of Captain America? So pour some rye, grab your set of Falcon wings, and get ready to go "on your left." Cheers!

Stugotz and Taylor continue to unpack the USMNT's crushing World Cup loss to Belgium, with Taylor making the case for a new nickname for Christian Pulisic. Then, they react to the bizarre story of the English fan who was reported missing on his way to the World Cup, only to be found enjoying himself at a bar in Barcelona. Plus, the guys give us an update from Lake Tahoe, where Jack Wagner is on the driving range, where he's absolutely striping the golf ball.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this emotional and packed episode of Cooligans Daily Live, Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros break down the devastating aftermath of the USMNT's early exit from the World Cup following a crushing defeat against Belgium. The guys dive deep into the mixed post-match reactions from the squad, parsing Christian Pulisic's controversial, nonchalant injury comments against Tim Ream's raw, tearful vulnerability. They debate whether Pulisic truly possesses the leadership qualities and emotional relatability required of "Captain America" after a highly disappointing tournament performance where he failed to register a single shot on target. Sparks fly as Alexis and Christian clash over whether this tournament cycle actually showed marketable progress for U.S. Soccer. While Christian finds pride in the team's tactical control against opponents like Paraguay and Australia, Alexis argues that bowing out at the Round of 16 represents a complete stagnation of the program. The hosts review the roster to highlight their tournament standouts—praising Folarin Balogun's defensive evolution and Malik Tillman's breakout performances—while heavily criticizing a shaky backline and an unsettled goalkeeping situation under Mauricio Pochettino. Beyond the national team, the guys catch up on blockbuster domestic news as Gotham FC announces their official stadium move to Queens at Etihad Park alongside NYCFC. Turning back to global tournament action, they dissect the biggest international storylines, including Germany's shocking penalty shootout exit to Paraguay, Roberto Martinez's questionable tactical reliance on Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal, and a wild geopolitical controversy surrounding a phone call between Donald Trump and FIFA's Gianni Infantino. Finally, they check in on the blistering Golden Boot race featuring Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Lionel Messi.
