Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here To Rate and Review Episode Details: Rosen Injury Law founder Eric Rosen explains how he secured justice for the family of Vivian Wilkinson, a lifelong smoker who died from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) caused by her addiction to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company's cigarettes. Building upon the success of the 1994 Engle class action lawsuit comprised of Florida smokers, trial lawyer Eric Rosen successfully took Broward County, Florida jury members on a journey back in time to when smoking was deeply ingrained in American society, helping them see how that environment influenced Vivian's decisions as well as the actions of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Despite the defense's attempts to convince the jury that the timing of Vivian's initial COPD symptoms failed to meet the statute of limitations, the jury found in favor of Vivian's estate, awarding $3 million in compensatory damages to her children, Vivian and Eugene, and $10 million in punitive damages against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for knowingly concealing information that ultimately contributed to Vivian's death. You're listening to Lingo Phoenix's word of the day for July 31. Uncommon Instrument Awareness Day Today's word is pack, spelled p-a-c-k. pack /pæk/ verb to come or bring together in large numbers or to fill a space Thousands of fans are packing into the stadium. Fans packed the stadium to watch the final game. The people on the bus were packed (together) like sardines (= there were many of them very close together). The sheep had been packed into a truck and transported without food or water. to put something into a bag, box, etc. We're leaving early tomorrow morning, so you'd better pack (= put clothes and other possessions into suitcases or bags) tonight. She packed a small suitcase for the weekend. Kelly packed her things before breakfast. You'd better pack your bags. We're leaving in an hour. Unfortunately, after combing through hundreds of Polaris and Premium Select passenger reviews on TripAdvisor, SkyTrax, and Yelp, food seems to be one of the airline's shortcomings, even in the higher classes, so pack a snack just in case. — Eric Rosen, Travel + Leisure, 19 June 2021 With your word of the day, I'm Mohammad Golpayegani. This week, your hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey interview Eric Rosen of Rosen Injury Law (https://roseninjurylawyers.com/). Mr. Rosen is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a civil trial specialist, a certification held by less than 2% of all attorneys licensed to practice law in Florida. Eric devotes his practice to representing plaintiffs who have suffered injury or death as a result of another person's or corporation's negligence. As lead trial attorney, Eric has obtained over $100 million in jury verdicts for his clients in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. Eric has also co-chaired and served on trial teams obtaining combined jury verdicts in excess of $300 million. His verdicts have been featured extensively in the Daily Business Review, Courtroom View Network and other media outlets. Eric began his legal career as a prosecutor at the Office of the State Attorney in Broward County, Florida, where he tried dozens of jury trials and countless bench trials to verdict. Mr. Rosen left public service to pursue his passion for helping people who have suffered due to someone else's misconduct. Mr. Rosen then rose through the ranks to become a partner at a prominent South Florida personal injury and wrongful death firm. For over a decade, Eric dedicated his practice to catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. After unparalleled success, Mr. Rosen pursued his dream of opening his own law firm and established Rosen Injury Law, P.A. As a Fort Lauderdale accident lawyer, he expanded his practice to not only include catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, but to also help those who have suffered a range of injuries that may not be life threatening, but still result in serious pain, inconvenience and loss of enjoyment of life. In addition to his law school education and his career in both public and private practice, Eric is also a graduate of the renowned Trial Lawyers College established by Gerry Spence; one of the country's premiere trial schools. This is an intensive three-and-a-half-week trial skills program held in Dubois, Wyoming, by top litigators and trial instructors from around the country. While there, Eric immersed himself in new trial techniques for jury selection, opening statement, direct and cross examination, and closing arguments. He incorporates those skills to this day. As a Fort Lauderdale injury lawyer, Eric has served on the faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy where he has taught trial skills to lawyers from around the country. He also spends time teaching law students and high school students about personal injury practice, product liability, and trial practice. A prominent streamer in his own right, International Master Eric Rosen is the author of the August 2020 Chess Life cover story, “The New Chess Boom.” The cover for the issue, created by Neil Jamison and directed by Frankie Butler, has gotten a lot of attention online – something we'll surely talk about – but I believe that Rosen's article will end up garnering just as much attention now that the issue is in mailboxes and online. At just 26 years of age, Eric Rosen has already carved himself out a prominent place in the modern chess ecosystem. He is prominent on Twitch and YouTube for his streaming efforts, which distinguish themselves (particularly on YouTube) for their high production values. A FIDE Master in 2011 and an International Master in 2015, Eric did not let his chess distract from his education, earning a BA from Webster University, where he was on the world-famous Webster chess team. On his website – imrosen.com – among his many other accomplishments, two stand out: in 2018 he “unknowingly defeated Magnus Carlsen in the lichess Titled Arena,” and he “appeared on the front page of Reddit.” Having seen my brother do the same thing recently, I know what a big deal that is. J Will Eric be as witty and relaxed in an audio format instead of video? Probably. But let's find out. With that, let's welcome Eric Rosen to the show. Hello Eric!

Wynn Rousuck shares the conversation she had last week with the celebrated playwright Paula Vogel, whose works include A Civil War Christmas, The Baltimore Waltz, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning How I Learned to Drive. Vogel's most recent play, Indecent, opens in previews tonight at Baltimore Center Stage. It's being produced in collaboration with Arena Stage and Kansas City Rep. Eric Rosen is directing the play, which runs through March 31.Indecent tells the true story of another play: an early 20th-century Yiddish drama called “The God of Vengeance,” by Sholem Asch. The sexually avant-garde play was a hit all over Europe – and in New York. But when its English-language version opened on Broadway in 1923, the cast was arrested and the play closed down.Paula Vogel’s Indecent, for its part, had a successful Broadway run, and this season is one of the most-produced new plays in American regional theaters. It pays homage to artists who are ahead of their time, and who sometimes pay dearly for their passion.Playwright Paula Vogel speaks with Judy from her home in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

The February 2019 edition of “Cover Stories with Chess Life” is now live! This monthly podcast, hosted by Senior Director of Strategic Communication Daniel Lucas, goes in depth... The post Chess Life Cover Stories with IM Eric Rosen [PODCAST] appeared first on US Chess.
On a rest day (after Game 8) for the World Championship in London, friends of the podcast (and previous guests) IMs Eric Rosen and Kostya Kavutskiy were nice enough to take some time and give Perpetual listeners a taste of what its like to be attending, reporting, and photographing the dramatic, ongoing World Chess Championship between GMs Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana. This episode is meant to have more of a "breaking news" feeling than your typical Perpetual Chess interview, so it's a shorter interview, but we covered a lot of ground. To wit: What was the mood like at the venue in Game 8 as Fabiano Caruana missed his best chance for a win over Magnus Carlsen? What openings might we see in the remaining games? Is there a clear rooting interest among the people attending the match? Does either player have more vocal fans? What are the conditions like for spectators? What about for photographers like Eric Rosen and his colleagues? IM Kostya Kavutskiy has done some great write-ups and game analysis for US Chess for the games that he has attended, while Eric Rosen has taken over the US Chess twitter account in addition to taking great photos like this one,. You can keep up with their great content in the following places: Kostya Kavutskiy's twitter account, Kostya's Youtube Channel Eric Rosen's twitter account and Eric's Youtube Channel To support the podcast or purchase a limited edition Perpetual Chess t-shirt or hoodie, go here and/or here, respectively.
This week IM Eric Rosen joined me to give a report from the 2017 Sinquefield Cup, where he has been doing some reporting. I also asked him to recap his epic Summer Chess Europe trip. We also talked about Eric's favorite podcasts, some ways to improve your chess game, and the secrets of the robust scholastic chess scene in the state of Illinois (which I kept calling Chicago for some reason. :-) ) . Thanks to Eric for a great conversation, follow him on twitter here, check out his website and blog here.
Eric Rosen from The Points Guy website drops in to talk about maximizing your rewards points and miles, and his life in the travel biz.
The role of Regional Theatre in supporting and presenting new works to their communities was among the topics discussed by our panel: Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse, Gordon Edelstein, Artistic Director of Long Wharf Theatre, Sara Garonzik, Producing Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and Eric Rosen, Artistic Director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre. They also explored how they share works and resources; the kind of show they feel best serves their audiences; their interaction with the local community; how they deal with competition within the theatrical community in their cities; what they learn from visiting Directors to their theatres; and the effect it has on their theatres when one of their shows moves to Broadway.
